Bara Mangwa Farmhouse - in Ilam, Nepal
Awesome view from rooms and balcony… very clean rooms… food and hospitability great too… would highly recommend
Pros:#Behaviour experience is awesome#home made cooking 👍#good view from cottage#Swimming pool view and step farming is an attractive zoneCons:#Power cut issue#Bedsheet and linen are not so clean#only one plug point available in double bed cottageLocation: its a offbeat location if u have book personal cab from Siliguri to bara mangwa then ok (cost around one trip Rs2700.. .. otherwise Siliguri to teesta bazar then teesta bazar to bara mangwa(little bit tough journey but its budget friendly)
Best eco friendly environment and the thing we liked is their smiling faces and food quality.Food was simple and healthy. Mostly green vegetables and salads..
It was outstanding experience of staying there..
Excellent, lonely and calm place to stay. Staffs, food, ambience is awesome. Swimming pool is chargeable but its worth. Electricity is an issue.. Suggested to ask for generator backups.
Beautiful and a calm place to stay. Staffs are excellent in behavior and service, though you need to order food at least half n hour before you need to have. Disappointed with infrastructure, rooms are newly made so expect non painted walls, furnitures. Electricity is serious pain.. We faced 4 hrs power failure.
Bara Mangwa is a small village in the Kalimpong District of West Bengal, 5 km from Teesta Bazar. Tourists can enjoy quality time with Nature. This farmhouse is situated in a beautiful position from where one can see a birds eye view of the mountain valley of River Teesta.
Very nice homestay with a lovely view. Those who want peace ,just go for it. Food is awesome, its very nice and healthy. Will go again !! Highly recommended.
4 * is perfect for the experience we had there.Highly helpful staffs.Polite an professional behaviour. For food, options might be less but quality and taste was absolutely home like.
Friendly staff, delicious food, clean rooms.Scenic beauty, calm and tranquil ambiance. All the best to the staff
View point is excellent. Good accommodation. Food was level best and services as well. Good mobile connectivity at this location. Visited on 24th and 25th October 21 with a group consisting of 14 members from Chandannagar, Hooghly.
Stayed for 2 days 10-13 Oct 21. Quality and preparation of food poor.Maintenance and cleanliness of rooms poor.
Online booking process is horrible. The contact person does not respond to texts, not willing to give any proper confirmation regarding booking. The hotel might be great but the contact person is completely unhelpful
This is an awesome place.Peaceful serene.Views from the Deluxe rooms are breathtaking.Hosts take very good care.Food is homely and delicious. You can just seat in the hanging terrace and enjoy the view all day long.Thre are some places for sighseeing like Tribeni, lamhatta park, Tinchuley view point,Peshok tea garden,Orange factory etc.The cab can be arranged by the framhouse.Overall an awesome expwrience. Riwas from the hosts took care of everything, He was very nice and reachable all the time.I will definately visit again.
Awesome place to get fresh air with fresh farm food which is served with excellent polite behaviour... Special thanks to Riwas Biswakarma our guide to farm house and Suraj ji our driver.
Extremely serene and wonderful stay with great hospitality . A pleasure to hang out at the terrace or stroll down the stone trail into the vegetation around the property.
Awesome ExperienceFriendly and helpful ppleWe stayed 3 days , we cud go to few nearby visiting places. My baby also enjoyed a lot.Food was awesome n u can request them ur choice
First thing that gets to you are the three lovely dogs. They follow you to the cottages and go everywhere you go. The way to the cottages are well made. On the way are these beautifully grown plants of potatoes, maize , peas and others. The cottages are at an altitude of 4500 feet. Be prepared for the inclined ascent.Second, that steals your heart is the view. Its breathtaking. The cottages are made in such a way its amidst the ambient nature. The birds chirping, the cool breezy winds and the view of the entire town from the balcony. This is one of the oldest farmhouses of Baramangua. There are several new farmhouses around yet this steals at the authenticity and the placement.Third, the hospitality of the hosts melts your heart. Their warm welcome and soothing smiles eases you. The food is light and freshly cooked. Makes you feel at home. We were a group of eight. We had no discomfort in any area of hospitality. The rooms are clean, pleasing and a visual delight. A memorable getaway indeed. Only if we could have extended our two-day stay to a longer one. Its economical by the way. Compared to the overpriced places. Thank you for memorable moments @Baramangua Farmhouse. Wish to visit again in future.
A wonderful place to stay. Beautiful scenic beauty. Price is little bit higher side but it is worth it. Happy to stay there.
The location and the ambience is just awesome. Staffs are polite and hospitable. Food was good. No COVID protocol was maintained in the property.
Loved the hospitality and the view from the rooms are amazing . Food is good , feels like home , the taste is awesome and simple . We were served white rice , daal , potato chips, mixed veg, egg curry and payasam in lunch on the first day. They will organise campfire and berbeque if requested.
One of the finest places Ive ever visited. This place is like heaven on earth. The view, the living experience and the food. Everything is marvellous
Best place for family trip and friends group. Staffs are friendly and professional. Food quality is very good like our home. Amazing view from room. Rooms are clean and comfortable.Highly recommend. Value for money.
Excellent. Great hospitality, superb spirit, lovely behavior. And the scenic beauty is just wow!!Food is great. View from my balcony is also awesome.
The place is great, the only drawback is the road that leads there. its very broken which is dangerous for how steep it is. The staff are the sweetest and the loveliest of people. what you get cooked in your food grows in their garden and it tastes delicious too! The view is amazing, the dogs who are actually your guides while you stay there, are cuddliest and most trustworthy.Basically, youll fall in love with the place *after* you get there. Given that you reach in daylight and are riding on a comfortable wheeler, you might as well like the ride upwards. If you want a getaway, this can be one of the best possible destination near Siliguri. It is around 6.2 km upwards from Tista Bazar. You can always count on the owner of the farmhouse to guide you if youre in any sort of confusion. If you are still reading, Im saying, GO SEE THIS PLACE. Just ride well.
We were there from 16th January to 19th January. Very peaceful place amist the nature. The host Sandipan, an ex mountaineer is a very nice and cordial person. We spent one full day there just to enjoy the surrounding beauty. Next day Sandipan took us to Darjeeling. The road trip from Baramangwa to Datjeeling was remarkable. There is a trek route from Badamangwa to Lamahatta. The trek lover must try that. The food is 600 per day per meal which includes tea, biscuits and popcorn and this is quiet reasonable compare to the food quality. However if u take only breakfast it is a bit expensive. But, again compare to the hospitality of the people, it is worth spending. So overall I am satisfied with the visit.
Bara Mangwa Farmhouse undoubtedly seems to be one of the most peaceful places, weve visited till date. It was that place, where we could just sit forever, without ever getting tired of staring into the mountains and the sky. It was also that place, where you might find some of the friendliest people, which includes Sandipan Dutta and the whole team.
The owners dont know how to treat the guests..very poor..rude staff, dirty blankets, dirty bed..Best to avoid this place..charged for swimming pool although the water was heels high.Worst experience.. no electricity all night and they literally charged us for candles!!!!Full of cheaters.
Location is excellent; I can say that its close to nature. The farmhouse is looking good but not maintained properly.
To reach this place ones gotta walk uphill for around 700 meters or so, because thats the only way to get there. Dont worry about carrying your luggage though cause itll be sent right to your room. Once you reach there, the view is absolutely worth the effort! Now all you gotta do is crack open a bottle(only sikkim made available& relax!
The view is amazing. Staying here will lift your spirits up. The people here are very friendly. Room service is good. Food is damn tasty.
Rooms are so specious and clean. Bathrooms are also good but no hot water. Foods are really so tasty. Staffs are really so helpful. Outside view is soo good specially in morning 🌄. Enough space for hangout. Bonfire option also available here.
Place is fairly big, up on hill. Very beautiful & peacrful. Away from crowd. Staffs are very helpful & humble. Farmhouse produces its own vrgitables. Good tasty food. Only thing is Premium rooms doesnt have Tv, Geyser or room heater. Though warm bath water & drinking water is supplied on demand. Overall a very relaxing stay away from daily hectic stay. View is marvellous. Good pricing for room & food. Best weekend gateway for both family & couples.
This is a quaint little place, tucked away in the hills, above Teesta Bazar. From the massive terrace of the main building one can see the flowing Teesta and Kalimpong Town on the opposite hill. On the other side, one can see Nathu La. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The bathrooms are also basic but clean. The food is delicious, often the produce is from their farm. The staff is very helpful and courteous. This place is quiet and serene. Visit if you want to enjoy some solitary time.
Fabulous rooms with great views directly from the glass fronted room. Beautiful hanging verandah with views of the mountains and Teesta river flowing below. Great food and great service!
The location of the property was very calm and peaceful, staff nature/behaviour very good, food quality superb, services from property end were fantastic. We enjoyed our vacation very much. Orange farm was very near by to the farmhouse within 1km and most of the local site seeing were within 20km lamhatta/tinchuley/takhda/tea gardens...etc, but make sure you take guidance from there service desk else it will be difficult to find this place - bit interior located.
lets get straight to pointcons:There is NO SWIMMING POOL within this resort compound. however, there is a public one nearby , about 10 minutes walking distance through trekking route.Food is below average. although stuffs are courteous they arent very flexible with menu. So please confirm your cuisines while booking.overall package is on expensive side, especially little things like rs100 for open parking etc is unusual.PROS:very nice view. view from the hanging terrace is just so beautiful.one of the more serene places around. there is almost no crowd and generally you can expect classier tourists here.
Calm quiet serene and eco friendly. Enjoyed their spacious rooms with view and the calming atmosphere. They serve delicious food as well at reasonable rate. Very friendly staff- great hospitality. One important thing I want to mention about the swimming pool in my picture. Its not inside the farm house. Its inside an another property which is 15 minutes walking from the farm house. But anybody can go and enjoy the pool, they charge an amount for using that pool.
The place is a bit off route away from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you love nature, this is an ideal place. But remember you have to deal with lot insects and spiders. There are some cottages and some normal rooms. The cottages are more or less ok...the rooms are small...at least the room i was given was bit small...the room lacked a few basic amenities like cupboard and chair...even it did not have a proper dressing table...the price is a bit high...the usp of the place is a swimming pool...you should book directly..then the price may be manageable...the food is really awesome...fresh from the oven...the people are cooperative...excepting a few...
A serene stay with breathtaking view, good food and amazing hospitality
I am just stunned, what a beautiful place and what a position of this farmhouse. You can see the Tista river, Valley, mountain from your room, this village is mainly depends on firming, many types of veggies and fruits they cultivate. Room are quite big, two double bed inside it, Bathroom quality is good.Room fare 2000₹, meal per day per head 600₹, food quality is good. Thers two big orange farm their, you can buy it from their. We are there in November, but temperature not so cold. Here some pictures for you.
Very nice place..You can see whole kallipong city from here and you can also see Tista river . Behavior of stuffs are satisfactory..The driver of farmhouse is very good they have lots of pet and they are very friendly..Even they guide you..As you are its owner ..I forgot the name of the boy who sang a song on our behalf was so good i must say ..You can enjoy bonfire with barbeque (they take extra chargesroom is good,it is not so cold like Darjeeling .You can hire car from farmhouse it takes three and half hours from NJP..The most attractive thing is that you can enjoy open balcony and watch whole kallipong during night .. Especially in full moon..And enjoying your drink.with a slow music and feel the hills and its silence..after leaving car you will take a narrow lane to reach here,it takes near 10 minutes..During this time you will see organic garden ..You can also see a citrus garden from here they will say just five minutes from farmhouse but it takes 15-20minutes ..You will enjoy local side scene..
its a beautiful place, situated on. the tista valley, surrounded by hills, calm and peaceful pace. baramangwa blossom echo tourism homestay is best, staffs are helpful, caring, food quality is superb.takfa, orchid farm, tinchuli, lamhatta, mamata garden are the view points for sight seeing.anotherplace is peshok te garden, where love point is famous for testa rangeet confluence.all these place is nearby to baramangwa.
It was a wonderful place, we stayed for two nights only, but it was amazing! The hospitality is unmatched, the cuisine is mind-blowing, the scenery is breathtaking, the facilities are great. There are not enough words to describe how great our visit was.Although the rooms are quite simple and there are no such things as WiFi and satellite TV - the view, the serenity of the place and the attitude of the staff more then makes up for it.
Visited number of times. Less than 100 Km from NJP station (close to 3 Hrs drive with tea breakand only about 10-12 minutes steep uphill from Teesta bazar just before crossing the river.A car will drop at the doorstep of a 3-feet narrow concrete road amidst organic farm lands which leads to the Baramangwa Farm House uphill in another 10 minutes. One may get view of snow peak in this trail on luckier days. The property belongs to Animesh Panda and booking contact is Sandipan Dutta. Kesar Rai is the soft spoken caretaker and a champion rock climber who helps guests in exciting trek trails around. 3-4 boys untiringly serve guests with umpteen cups of tea and coffee, timely breakfast, tiffin and numerous other pretext of serving food and beverages. There is the main Guest House, chalot like building with two 4-bedded rooms at the base with wooden interior and big windows showing the whole of Kalimpong in the slopes of a big hill. Hills belonging to Sikkim are also visible. There is an annexed building in a garden space with two double bed rooms only available upstairs with very luring balconies. And then there is Teesta deep down in the gorge around 3000 feet amidst lush green at your feet straight from the hanging terrace. The terrace is the tiffin point and lazing pod of afternoons and evenings. The dinning is in the middle of a garden a little upstairs where organic vegetables and country chicken are served in 5 course meals day and night often between frequent power cuts but soothing weather cooled by breeze coming up from Teesta and clouds from Sikkim
This place has breathtaking view of the hills and valleys. One can see Nathula peak on a sunny and clear day. When you visit this place there is a lot of variety of plants around you. The food and hospitality here is just amazing. There are two dogs here. Both are friendly and does not harm anyone big or small. When we were going back they came too see us of. The people too are friendly. That is why I gave a five star rating.
Awesome location, I stayed in annexed building of the farmhouse. It is separated from main building, though very silent and homely. The hospitality of the staff is very good. The food was excellent. A very good place to stay out of city life. Only problem is frequent break down of power supply. Otherwise a very good place to stay.
It is typically defined as travel to destinations where the flora, fauna, and cultural heritage are the primary attractions. We loved the place and the warm hospitality of the people there. All over it was a great experience for all of us. We want to come back here again
Awesome view and hospitality, after a long walk through the narrow lane, within the hilly mount, it was a real beauty to veiw at. Rooms were huge with 2 double bed facilities for double deluxe rooms, glass windows all over to have a heavenly experience. As soon as we reached we were asked to have our lunch and what a lunch it was to tickle our taste buds. 5 years old little boy came forward to help my aged mother in law, climb the way up with her belongings. My two year old sons food were all cooked by them gracefully with hygeine and pleasure. A beautiful lounge with scenic beauty of the mountains and the gorgeous Teesta river covered the whole veiw. In the evening to warm up the mood well, hot Darjeeling tea with mouth watering chicken momos were offered, along with Chintan NGO trained girls displaying martial arts and melodious music and song by a guy, who was one of the cook out there, playing his guitar and singing melodiously in the chilling dark night. Dinner and breakfast were also a mark of delight with baingan bharta and chicken curry at night and alu paratha to greet the morning. Had stayed just for a day, but felt like the heart was all stopped with the hospitality, good food and the beauty of mother nature. A must visit for all mountain and nature lovers. A delight to revitalize life.
If it is not heaven it is very near to heaven. Location of the farmhouse is awesome. You will get huge tasty food there.we must learn about the hospitality from the people of the farmhouse. Rooms are big & clean. Overall you can enjoy a comfortable stay there.
