Husainabad Trust Rd, Machchhi Bhavan, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 226003, India, Lucknow
Grand edifice in sprawling, ornate confines featuring an immense vaulted chamber & dizzying maze.
A beautiful and soothing place. Id recommend you guys to visit during winter as in summer the temperature is around (35-40)°C so you guys will get exhausted, sun tanned and then it becomes boring. Also make sure you hire a guide for better understanding of the inside architecture and history.A nice place to visit and walk around if youre in Lucknow. I wasnt able to gain access since the electronic payment methods were down but I got to visit the lawns which were nice.It was also a bit crowded which I assume was due to Eid so I didnt mind not being able to access the temple itself. Overall, a great spot for pictures!
The historical place created by the nawabs of Lucknow...great place feels satisfying as well and its astonishing to find the architecture from those times is so rigid and magnificent in nature.A must visit place if you are visiting Lucknow
Loved this place. We are blessed to have historical heritage in our country. The best part that its very neat and clean. Very well maintained. Bhul bhulaiya is a great example of architecture.Must visit place and enjoy the view of beautiful city Lucknow. Experience the technology used in ancient times.
This place badly needs Management committees intervention for cleanliness of better and faster restoration method to save this beautiful monuments. For couples, there is mandatory guide which will loot you with no clear prices and they keep your shoes at safe place and then ask for money.Proper management needed
It is one of the greatest places in history everything is really amazingSpecifically The Maze(bhul bhulaiya)and The bauliMore than 22 secrets facts are there which will amaze you
This is a famous tourist attraction at Lucknow. The popular name is Bhool bhulaiya. Here the different stairs and ways are such that one has to take due care so that he can come out where he wants.Though on the left side one single wide stair in straight flight take you to all floors and you can come down easily. One needs to beware of touts who in form of guides really misguides you. The place also needs good maintenance.

Nice placeBring all family members.Great things to know about Indian culture.Ticket price is only Rs50/-Take guide ( charge Rs 150/-for better knowledge.
The Heritage site is worth a visit with the various other monuments around. A ₹100 guide actually makes no sense as he just hands you over to an E-autoriksha driver who takes you around and gives very brief info about structure we pass. He clicks good pics tho. Anyway its an interesting experience if you have time. Imambara has a maze which draws people and the govt appointed guide gives info and also challenges you to get him out of the maze. Had fun.
Highly Recommended! But not in hot summer days.If you are a couple then you must have to take a guide with you otherwise only couples are restricted to enter alone.Bonus tip : try to explore alone if you really want to enjoy the bhool bhulaiya
Ok! Like ok! We went to Residency before this & I loved that more. There was a full fledged well oiled machine here in terms of what they want you to know and see. Felt a little forced upon. Apart from that beautiful picturesque place!
Very nicely maintained but you cannot roam around during the sun or daytime because its to hot in lucknow weather is super hot these days so do carry your umbrella, scarf and waterbottle, umbrella, towel with you its roo hot in kucknow ee cannot stand properly because of sunrays on the eyes
Random rules here! We have to pay for a useless guide to visit this place if you’re one man and one woman. I understand it’s bhulbhulayya and you could get lost without a guide. But that applies to everyone. Anyway, the architecture is beautiful but maintenance is so so……………..
The Bara Imambara of Lucknow is one of the most famous monuments of the city. The Imambara is primarily known for its incredible maze, known as Bhul Bhulaiya locally, which is located on the upper floor of the monument. The Bara Imambara has a unique style of construction. The central hall of Bara Imambara, which is said to be the largest arched hall in the world, measures 50 meters long and goes up to a height of 15 meters. The whole building is made of Lakhanui bricks, which are a bit small in size, and lime plaster. No wood or metal has been used in the construction (Except for the galleries in the interior). The Bara Imambara is worth seeing in its own right, but the unusual labyrinth of corridors on its upper floor (Bhul Bhulaiyais what steals the show !!
One of the best places I visited in Lucknow. But dont buy the inside ticket. Not much to see and also no need for guide. Be sure to visit the right and left and baloneies.
A very good place for visit in Lucknow but be aware of guides they were charging too much . drinking water and cold drink are available.one must take horse rides because they are very experienced.
I am a Maldivian and this is my first visit to this wonderful place. This is a very historical place bult in remembrance of Imam Hussain (RA). This architecture shows how strong the muslim civilization was in india in the past. It is purely human work 200 plus tears ago. This is really a wonderful and a must to visit place if you are travelling to Lucknow.
Ive found this place good. It has been kept well by the govt despite of the fact that huge number of people visit here everyday. However, I found that the rate of tickets were at the higher side. 300 for the age of 16 and above is absolutely unnecessary. If this is considered as a place of worship then let people enjoy some rebate on ticket rates. Overall good experience. Cheers.A great place to visit and walk around if you’re around Lucknow..I almost stay there 3 to 4 hrs at Noon there was also a bit crowded which I assume was due to Moharram so I didn’t mind not being able to access the Imambara totally, a great spot for pictures! Keep a guide with you to know about your history enjoy the Experience ...One has to walk barefoot! Really love it but i think cleanliness of monument was missing somewhere!! ❤
If this is considered as a place of worship then let people enjoy some rebate on ticket rates. Overall good experience. Cheers. This is a heritage monument related muslim religion. Good architecture, moderately maintained. You can buy cold drinks and snacks inside the monument campus. The small garden was properly maintained and the place was clean. I missed the opportunity to visit the entire place as my mother was having problems with so many stairs. An iconic place to visit in Lucknow. The most interesting part is the Bauli. The inside of the main building is way too crowded. No body follows Covid norms. If you are a photographer you will have hard time finding a clear frame as this tourist place is too busy. Also, we felt the old structure could have been more maintained and well taken care of. The tourist department has not paid much attention to the maintenance of the old iconic building. I personally feel that the entry ticket is highly priced as you have to pay to the guide in addition to entry tickets. Otherwise the place is good.A nice place to visit and walk around if you’re in Lucknow. I wasn’t able to gain access since the electronic payment methods were down but I got to visit the lawns which were nice.
If you came to lucknow dont forget to visit Bada Imambada. Its of one the adventures place to visit. And it will be more adventures if you go to bhulbhulaiya without guide.
BeautifulGood architecture, moderately maintained. You can buy cold drinks and snacks inside the monument campus. The small garden was properly maintained and the place was clean.

Must visit very beautiful architecture and monuments. You will forget everything just enjoy at the site. One more thing be careful guide and other people who trying to friendly.
The place is good to visit but not as much as expected. One should have lots of energy to visit the Bhool Bhulaiya and the Bauli is also good example of ancient architecture. The best part is when you reach at the top floor and saw the view of the beautiful Lucknow City.
Its built too big, neat & cleanentry ticket ₹50/-Once you get the ticket at bara imam baada, then you can visit four places - bara imam bada,Bhul bhulaiya, Shahi imam bada, picture gallery .....*Keep Smile* 😊
The Bara Imambara of Lucknow is one of the most famous monuments in the city. The Imambara is primarily known for its incredible maze, known as Bhul Bhulaiya locally, which is located on the upper floor of the monument. It is said that there are 1024 ways to get inside the maze but only 2 to come out. Also known as Asfi Imambara, after the name of the Nawab of Lucknow who got it constructed, it is an important place of worship for the Muslims who come here every year to celebrate the religious festival of Muharram. Said to be the worlds largest structure that is unsupported by beams, Bara Imambara is considered a marvel of engineering and a fine specimen of Mughal architecture. The Imambara has a unique style of construction. Moreover, no wood or metal has been used in the construction of this mosque. One can also have a view of the grave of Nawab Asaf-Ud-Dowlah and his crown, which is kept in the central hall, which is said to be the largest vaulted chamber in the world.
Quite an experience visiting this place. The rustic and vintage looks and the guides narration finally made the visit worth. The architects of earlier days are quite intelligent and their foresight in designing is awesome. The mahal had such clear visual points to identify enemys entry by sitting inside the mahal. The Bul Bulaiyas design is worth learning and experiencing.I must appreciate the guides here for their perseverance to explain so much of detail.

Nice architectural design, the amount charged here is high bhool bhulaiya, picture gallery and clock tower are must place to visit.Tip: Hire guide over picture gallery as it will make your visit interesting.
Its a nice and beautiful architecture work. I just love to see that. Besides that its also a religious place. I used to visit here after a rain shower that made this place more stunning. You can handover your belongings at the front gate entry at the clock room with minimum charges of 5rs. then you can proceed to main enterance where you have to purchase a 50rs ticket for single person( Indian citizen), there is a sort of rule there if a couple want to visit there they must avail a guide from there but there is no such guidline for individuals. You can see there bhul bhuliya mosque and bowli too.
Big positive: this is historic place in Lucknow. There is also labyrinth / bhool bhulaiyaa which is another attraction to this place. Good to take a guide to know history behind this place.Big negative: It requires lot of walk here. So, hydrate yourself enough.
One of the most beautiful historical place to visit in Lucknow. A place where you can see the way of living of Nawabs. If ever visited in Lucknow so I recommend you to must visit this place. Here you need a guide to visit inside bhool bhulaiya and its seriously a bhool bhulaiya so be careful and take a guide if you are visiting first time. Helping staff and here you will get some snacks shops inside this place and toilet facilities available inside the place and you will be charged some amount if youre coming from personal vehicle as a parking fee. Overall its my good visit.
When we were been to this place we find that the place wat not kept clean and maintained. Also tickets are little costly. Guides are milking out from tourists. But the architecture is very elegant and beautiful. This place have a rich history. Try bhul bhulaiya and on top of the building the view is awesome.
Its amazing the architecture without todays modern technologies in those times built with such precision and perfection. A must visit place. hoping the administration takes good care of condition of the floor and walls.

A 17th century historical monument, one of the greatest architecture masterpiece of this city, this place is situated in old lucknow. The nearest metro station is K D Singh and the place is quite accessible from all the corners of the city. The structure is super tricky and that was made to ensure enemies get confused. Surely a marvel.
It is a beautiful place to see. Since this is a dargah, taking photos videos is not allowed at few points and digital camera/dslr are not allowed. The ticket costed 50Rs to coverBawliMasjidBhool bhulaiyaIt is advisable to take a tour guide which costs 150Rs to cover all the points. You will speciaoneed a guide to see the bhool bhulaiya. Photography is allowed from here to the rest of the places. They also have a cloak room which charges 5Rs to keep your belongings.
The best place to visit in Lucknow. Bara Imambara, also known as Asfi Imambara is an imambara complex in Lucknow, India built by Asaf-ud-Daula, Nawab of Awadh in 1784. Bara means big. This imambara is the second largest after the Nizamat Imambara. The building also includes the large Asfi mosque, the Bhul-bhulaiya (the labyrinth), and Bowli, a step well with running water. Two imposing gateways lead to the main hall. It is said that there are 1024 ways to reach the terrace but only two to come back first gate or the last gate. It is an accidental architecture. This monument is built by Asfaq-U-Daulah. In the labyrinth we cannot go and come out without the help of Guides. We four of friends went there on 03/04/2022. Enjoyed there very much. At the end when we were about to out of labyrinth without Guide, we came to realise that its really Bhul- Bhulaiya. We should have at least once visited to Bada- Imambara in our life to get in touch of historical architect and the nature too.
Ticket price was 50 which is for a combined ticket that is also valid for visiting chhota imambara . The place is quite vast so it will be better to hire a guide to take you around the place. The complex consists of water well(Boali, bhul bhulaiya (mazeand photo gallery. I would recommend you to hire a guide so that you can understand more about the place. On weekends place is extremely crowded so plan accordingly. If you are visiting Lucknow then this place must be on your bucket list.
One of the couple scenic attraction of Lucknow. Time of visit should be before 11am as it will get crowded on weekend. Take guide for this place, as it make your experience very good.
The architecture is great. You dont really need a guide if you think that you will get lost but if you want to know about the history of the place, you can opt for him. The architecture is amazing, the view is great from the top. All in all, must visit
The Bara Imambara is built in the combination of Mughal, Rajput and Gothic architectural styles. Designed by Hafiz Kifayat Ullah, an extremely renowned architect of that time, it is an example of sheer engineering marvel and has no parallel.Inside the monument, there are 9 halls in all, out of which, the central hall is the largest. It is the ceiling which deserves a special mention. Standing at a height of almost 15m, it is supported without any columns, iron rods, beams or girders. This was done because the central hall was to be used as a place for prayers. It is undoubtedly the largest un-arched hall in the world.Mughal Emperors and their deputies, the Nawabs, had their own ways of solving problems. The Bara Imambara, for example, was constructed to tackle the onset of one such famine. Built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula between the years 1785 and 1791 AD, the main objective behind building it was to provide employment to the people. There are several interesting tales associated with this structure, which is undeniably one of the most beautiful heritage attractions in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.According to one of those, common people worked during the day to build up its base, while noblemen and other members of the elite class demolished anything which was built during the night! The purpose behind this was to extend the duration of the work as much as possible, or at least, as long as the famine lasted. What we call Bara Imambara is a large mosque complex whose main portion is an enormous hall, apart from the Asfi mosque and Baoli. It houses the graves of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula and his wife Shamsunnisa Begum. Here, Muslims perform their sacred rituals during the Muharram festival, also known as Azadari in the local language. On this day, Muslims mourn the death of Husayn ibn Ali in the battle of Karbala.

A nice monument to visit. I found some of the areas are very risky to fall down while climbing 🧗 for bhulbhulaiya, so don’t leave the kids alone. Also they don’t allow the shoes for roof top and do not have proper matting, which makes difficult to walk with barefoot 🦶They should provide some alternative or proper matting, else allow footwear there. Difficult for kids to walk.

Ohh this is the beautiful place. As they say Lucknow the city of nawabs well said. Really enjoyed the bhul bhulaiya and the mesmerizing view from the top of fort. The ancient design and the palace is marvelous. Enjoyed a lot here.
Okay. Parking a few steps away but ample. You can visit it.You have to take a guide irrespective of your choice, they nag you, which was annoying. Many paths of the inner maze are closed so not particularly much to see there too.Nothing in particular caught my eye personally. it was okay.
Historical place in Lucknow built in 16th century by Nawab of Lucknow.......You can feel history of the place visit on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid crowd and if possible dont carry too much stuff with you so you can see each and every corner of Imambara and bhool bhulaiya
Ancient construction visit if you are interested in looking ancient methods. In Lucknow there are some of the places to visit so yo can consider it for day outing ,guide is compulsory or you will be roaming there for way to out .Guide explain everything in detailed way. After visiting this place from out side you get electric auto to in 50-60rs for all place and maximum 6person they show 4-5 places nearby
Lovely place to visit. Keep a guide with you to enjoy the experience. Not meant for the elderly, as too many stairs and lot of walking. Is neat, tidy well maintained. Guide will charge Rs. 200/- per trip and would take around an hour to show you the place. One has to walk barefoot!!
