Bar San Calisto - Bar in Vatican City, Vatican City
The kind of bar that restores my faith in humanity.Set in the middle of touristy Trastevere yet two Peroni beers were only €3.Ill drink to that.Salut!
Absolutely LOVED this place! Learned about this Trastevere institution after watching Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy series. Really cheap drinks and just a great vibe! Great place to start an evening while hanging in the Trastevere area!
Best priced gelato!! They have a good selection of flavors all very good.
I like this place. I feel free and full of life. It is full of interesting people and artists, I like watching them. Drinks are cheaper than around, but it is always crowded. And the coffee is good as well
This was our favorite breakfast and coffee place in Rome. The man who owns the place is so kind and friendly, and after two visits he remembered us and our usual order! The prices are incredibly reasonable. A cappuccino, a caffè latte, and 2 cream cornetti came out to €3.90. Back home that price would have gotten us maybe one croissant and definitely not a cup of delicious cappuccino. I am so glad this place exists!!
Smallest (but not cheapestAperol Spritz I’ve gotten in Rome. Our beverages didn’t come with any snacks, but perhaps we just expected too much from our other experiences around Rome. The service was non-existing, and it seemed very chaotic.Wouldn’t recommend - unless you’re close to dehydrating ofc :-)
Sat outside and had an americano and cappuccino before getting lunch next door at Nannarella. Went to pay and confirmed multiple times that they had charged me correctly and for both drinks because it was under €2. Great prices. Good quality.
Excellent place for drinking and meeting. Good prices, nice ambient. Very bad bathroom settings! They should something about it. But maybe its part of the experience.
Hilarious place 🇮🇹Rough & ready but the atmosphere is unmatched for a drink. Authentic and cheapest around too.Known as the Grogans of Rome 🇮🇪
Gret bar.bossa nova, jazz & blues live band at night outside
One of the cheapest bars we found in Rome! 2,5 EUR for a large beer or wine; great to start your evening when you are in Travestere.
wow, just go there! full of locals, cheap beer, great live music!
Great atmosphere here after midnight, you can find youth community from all over the Europe. Drinks are fare priced and service is really fast. There are outdoor seats or you can also stand by in the local area next to the bar. Thumbs up we had a great experience here may be back again soon. Recommend it to go there with your friends
One of the best places of Trastevere and Roma! Definitely try the Gelato its artisan and delicious!
Such a gorgeous hidden area. Often you will see live music, cheap drinks, and lots of dinner places nearby. Be prepared to wait for a meal for the most popular spots as it can get very busy.
Cheap, friendly, good to meet people, cosy, honestly the best place in Rome for drinks.
Supermarket prices, live music, what to say more. Perfect spot to rest your legs after a long day and prepare for dinner.
Just an awesome local bar. You pay up front, grab your drinks, and scout out a table in the front or sip happily away in the crowded plaza in front. Prices are seemingly the best in town so everyone is in a good mood.
Awesome staff. Were Irish af and speak poor Italian but they were so lovely. Affordable drinks in a busy spot. Great if you wanna sit outside with a few pints.
Best bar in Trastevere för a night out. The Campari and Aperol spritz are... dangerous: 50% Campari 50% Proseco. Chaotic but fun atmosphere late at night with people standing on the little piazza outside.
This bar has been around since the 1960s and is still as popular today as it was back then. Theres an energetic vibe filled with locals and tourists alike. You can find men playing cards just outside the restaurant. There are some tables for drinking but you will find that many people are standing in front of the restaurant with aperitivo in hand, chatting and people watching. Great place to hang out, casual and unpretentious. Drinks are reasonably priced.
Great atmosphere. Friendly, inexpensive. Definitely worth a visit in the late afternoon or early evening.
Absolutely adored this place. After reading about this place in a blog, we knew we had to go and it was just as described. A great bar, where the locals and tourists meet and blend perfectly. On a warm evening, its the perfect place to chill, before getting some amazing food nearby. They serve up beer, negronis and aperol spritz and much more at some of the most reasonable prices. If youre in Rome, pull up a chair and take in the Roman air, whilst sipping a Person 👌🏿
The place to be pretty much anytime of day. Great coffee to get your day started, and a good place to stop for a beer or spritz in the afternoon or evening. A good mix of locals and tourists, which really shows the quality.
This is THE spot. Quick, cheap Aperol Spritz or Peroni served cold (or gelatoand youre out the door in less then a minute. Sit at one of the tables, listening to the live music in the piazza or stand around (just watch out for carsand enjoy the beautiful scene taking place in front of you.
If you want affordable drinks in an authentic Italian setting, this place must be on your list.Be warned... this is a simple bar, dont go here looking for fancy cocktails.Head here for great Aperol Spritz without the faff and large Peroni thats just right for the warm evenings.
Great location, authentic , very affordable, and always full of interesting people
Popular with the locals and tourists alike for a cheap beer or coffee. $2.50 for a large beer is very good. The gents provide good service and easy to order even if you have non-existent Italian.
For a Roman start to the day this place is a must. No frills just good food, good coffee and a morning boost that will set you up for a day on your feet.
Very local and pleasant vibe 😃 great coffee and limoncello
Dirt cheap and an amazing atmosphere. We only came in the morning as it is incredibly cheap (€4.80 for two cappuccinos and two cornetto pastriesand one of the few times you can easily get a seat.Every night we walked past and it is easily the liveliest bar in Trastevere. Prices are so cheap (€2.50 for a spritzthat the square is overflowing with tourists and locals enjoying the fabulous atmosphere this creates.Oh, and the tramozzi cream buns are fantastic.
This is a gem real rome, students locals just sitting watching world go by looks a bit shabby but its great, ice cream coffee and cake available best of all a beer and a prosecco 3 euro!! Inside old photos are worth a look.
“ Enjoy your coffee, relax and pay later”. This is Roma, this is Italy. Today the average age was 67. You will have the desire to take up smoking if you don’t already. Group of ancients drug their plastic chairs into the sun to start a poker game. Another elderly woman sat in the sun like a cat recharging her batteries. Cappuccino was excellent. Come for the people watching.
Good atmosphere with plenty of locals. Super cheap drinks
The cheapest place we came across for simple beers in Trastevere area. Its popular with the locals and tourists alike. There is no place to sit inside, outdoor only, with most people standing on the cobbles around the bar. There is no table service, you need to go inside to the till to pay and then collect your beer. Small bottle of peroni was €2.50! Anywhere else you would easily pay €4 if not more!
Love this lively place for a beer, Roman style and always busy, great prices with only 2,50 for a large beer, nice terrace in the sun during the day.
Fantastic bar. Locals, tourists, young and old mingle to enjoy the cheap drinks and great atmosphere. We visited a couple of times but on Saturday night there was a band playing outside. Lots of people spilling out onto the street but still a short queue for drinks (although there was a long queue for the single toilet)
Favorite stop for a quick cappuccino in Rome. Would be a great place to hang out and spend some time as well.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the Italian atmosphere. We came here for a drink and we were not disappointed. The place is popular, so we had to wait in line, but its worth it. In addition, the prices are very low. Large beer for 2 euros and aperol spritz for 2.5 euros. I recommend!
Love this place. A favorite of the locals and amazingly cheap. Breakfast and cappuccinos for two is about €3. Cappuccino alone is €1.
Best place to have a beer and enjoy your time while staying in Rome. Full with local people having fun :hope to come again!
Authentic, economy, friendry bar. You can get cocktails (Negroni etc)straight from the bar and take away if youre unable to get a seat. Also icecream taste great.
The best place to get a drink and meet a couple of locals. It’s truly a gem hidden in the center of Rome. If you want to meet new Italian friends just go there and hang out.
One of my favorite spots to hang out in Rome. Chill place with cheap beer and very friendly people and staff. I went here everyday during the week I spent in Rome. I will miss this spot.
Nice old school bar that serves one of the best spritz in the city (for 3,5 euros). Cozy sitting areas and a great space to hang out and have a few drinks in the trendy area of Trastevere. Popular prices and vibe, don’t miss this one gem.
"I used to come to San Calisto with my grand-father when I was a kid". This is how a Roman customer started painting me his memories of this legendary place. As a visitor, it was nice to be able to hang out and talk with "locals" on the terrace. I loved the open and authentic (probably quite left-wing!atmosphere of this place and will hope to come back one day. Saluti ;-)
Great spot with a mix of tourists and locals, but seemed to be mostly locals. Nice staff, drinks good and not expensive. Lovely atmosphere for an evening drink on a summers night. I saw they’ve got real gelato as well, although I didn’t get a chance to have any.
Authentic, multicultural and cheapThis bar is really cool!Though its not very cosy, its a nice place to hang out and meet people or just stay with friends. Youll find both, locals and foreigners having a good time. Prices are very fair: a coffee or cappuccino is 1€, a beer 2,50€. The bar seems well equipped with different wine and liquors, too.I havent been here in summer, but I guess its nice to sit outside, too! :)Funfact: the interior is flexible. If theres no space, grab a table and some chairs! :D
Very authentic. The service was super-fast, coffee was good and their prices are just great. They have a very nice terrace. The bathroom is horrible, but otherwise it’s a great place for drinks or snacks. They also have gelato but we haven’t tried it.
Best local cafe. In the mornings all the locals hang out here. Cheapest coffee + pastry deal around, and very good! Service is quick and they get to know you after a few days. At night, cheap Peronis and right next to the Piazza where you can sit by the fountain and watch the nighttime entertainment. Was also a setting of Italian film "La Grande Bellezza".
