Bar Oldenhof in Amsterdam

You cant book ahead & they dont have tables for more than 4 people. Walked for ages to get here & because there were 6 of us we were turned away. Its not like were a rowdy stag or hen group as we were 3x couples but they wouldnt entertain 2 groups of 3 either. Disappointing experience that could been avoided if they had this information on their website.

Best cocktails I have had in Amsterdam so far. The place has a bit of a New York speakeasy vibe. Unique and exclusive setting. Definitely will be back for more.

This lovely bar was quite the experience. You can not enter this bar without ringing the doorbell first. The friendly hostess opens the door and guides you to your table.She is very good at noticing small but important things like filling our glasses with water, turning up the heat because she saw that it was a bit chilly for us, asking if everything is ok, …The cocktails were very good and the interior is old fashioned. Totally my cup of cockTEAl. 🍸I’ll definitely come back to this little gem in central Amsterdam.

Unique.. is the word to describe this bar in Amsterdam. After you ring the doorbell and they welcome you,you find yourself in a small yet cozy bar. The staff is gentle and eager to help. The cocktail list is interesting. They serve a cocktail of the week as well. Definitely visit when in Amsterdam ! Keep up the good work!

Came here for after dinner drinks with friends. We loved the atmosphere and speakeasy vibes of the bar. Service was very friendly and drinks were delicious!

Great cocktails, great vibe... The seating allows for intimate conversation and the servers are so pleasant.. We went there on a rainy day in Amsterdam and felt very tucked in and cozy as we delved into deep conversations powered by their tasty potions

Really nice place with very tasty cocktails! The bar seemed to be closed from outside but if you ring the doorbell and wait for a few mins, someone will open the door and welcome you in. The deco inside is kind of old school and vintage feeling, the bartenders were all dressed up properly with a bow tie, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, I loved the cocktail I got, cannot wait to go back and try more!

Small & Intimate cocktail bar in the Center of Amsterdam. The decoration of the place is outstanding, a chic rustic atmosphere 🥃🍸. The service was exceptional, I got to try a new cocktail that is not yet on the menu! And the cocktails were really good and refined. Will go there again for sure!

Really disappointed. I am a regular here, but they refused me and my company for no real good reason. Not a nice way to end the evening. With pain in my heart I will reconsider coming here or referring guests in the future…:(

Visited in 11.2021. Probably the best speak easy bar Ive ever been. Attentive bartender, great drinks and nice atmosphere. Not pretentious at all and you feel very welcomed there. Will definitely come back. :)

Visited in March 2022. If it looks closed, ring the door bell! Its part of the speak-easy charm. Someone will greet you at the door, take your jacket, and offer you a seat.The cocktails are so carefully constructed. I watched our host/bartender make every cocktail. The attention to detail and commitment to quality is ABSOLUTELY worth the price one pays for each.The ambiance is reminiscent of an old library/study or (smoking lounge of a high-class manor), with comfortable seating. The music is mostly jazz, just loud enough to hear but quiet enough to have a comfortable conversation with your companions.If you appreciate expertly-crafted cocktails in a classic and sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere, you MUST visit Bar Oldenhof.

the place is speakasy. So if you expect super strong cocktails, jazz music and quiet evening then it is place to be. But do not expect good party vibe. The cocktails price is 15€

Stepping into Bar oldenhof is like stepping into a time machine. Transporting you to a time when waiters offered you water right from the moment you sit down, and continue to keep you hydrated throughout the evening. A time where the jazz playlist is perfectly suited for some deep conversations with friends, whilst drinking memorable cocktails. The penicillin and old cuban are my favourites but actually all their cocktails are incredible. I really love to take friends here and see their reaction when they experience this oasis!

Amazing find! Super cozy, quirky interior with incredible cocktails. I can see myself here on a cold winter evening. Service was wonderful. Definitely recommended. Expect to pay around 15 euro per cocktail

Not only were the cocktails amazing, the service was next level. Your water glass is kept filled, we were given great advice, and it’s all these little details that made the service absolutely EXCEPTIONAL. Unlike other cocktail bars I’ve been to, no long waits and the same cocktails you see everywhere. The menu is detailed and a whiskey lover is also going to enjoy the selection. I really really enjoyed this bar and will be coming back

Delicious cocktails. Love that theyre using the outside as a terrace right now - before this bar was very hidden and could feel inaccessible. Now I can drop by on a sunny day and enjoy the sunshine!

Such a lovely personalized cocktail bar experience. First 5 star for a bar and they totally earned it. Friendly staff with excellent recommendations. They come and greet you at the door, take your coat, give you killer recs, stop by with olives, and walk you out. Every drink was creative and well done. Lost slipper was my personal favorite but touch of evil was also excellent. Highly recommend! Excellent spot for a conversation over cocktails for couples or small group.

If youre looking for awesome cocktails and great service, this is the place.They have a pretty extensive menu with plenty of options and the bartenders can make you just about anything.The interior is super cozy with comfortable seating and a great bar. Great place to start and/or end the night!They also do whiskey tasting every so often so if you live in the city I suggest signing up to their email list.

I visited Bar Oldenhof for the first time last night and LOVED it! If you are looking for a unique experience in a cozy, high-end, sophisticated environment, this is your spot! The staff is extremely knowledgable and attentive, the seating is comfortable, the patrons are interesting, and the drinks are AMAZING. This is not to be missed if you are visiting Amsterdam or if you live here and are looking for a truly elegant and special evening.

My favourite cocktail bar in Amsterdam. Always busy, but worth the wait. Great selection of whisky too! If you’re a local make sure to go for a whisky tasting, they hold them every few months.

Marik was lovely to us. The service was superb and Ive never experienced such artful and deliciously complex cocktails.

Great experience. The staff are very attentive and knowledgeable. Everything we had was delicious. We had three different cocktails, two of which were recommendations, and three tapas, which were all unique dishes. The atmosphere was lovely.

Excellent cocktails! We got the le fleur du paradis and penicillin. Very old school decor, two floors, can take bigger party upstairs, they also have a few seatings outside. Lovely staff!

Nice hidden bar but not as great as expected. The cocktails we had, had odd flavours. I would prefer a bar like Tales and Spirits. The prices are the same, about €15 for a cocktail, but we enjoyed the ones at T&S much more. Ps: if you want to get in, check the opening hours and ring the doorbell. If its busy, you might have to wait for a minute.

The cocktails are super good, also the staff was special. The bartender was super friendly and told us all the detailed stories of the cocktails. You have to be lucky to find a seat.

Perfect cocktails.Find this place, dark and curtained off from the world, ring the doorbell and wait for one of the impeccable waiting staff to answer and (hopefully, as it is smallusher you through velvet curtains to the warm, wooded interior. I think I saw a fireplace to the left, winding dark wood stairs lead up to a mezzanine second floor, and down to the bar.The menu has an exciting selection of cocktails, including seasonal and weekly specials. But they also happily craft the classics and probably anything else you fancied. My boyfriend ordered the Penicillin from the winter menu (Very Smokey whiskey based short cocktail), I went for a Manhattan and it was so good I swore its the only thing Id ever drink from then on.Cocktails are all c.€15. I have no idea if they serve anything else (wine/beer). Service is slow but its not from negligence - its just the pace of the place. I would happily return and lose a whole evening there.

Thinking about this review i felt a bit like Gollum. Not wanting to share my precious...Oldenhof is of those Gems that you dont see that often. From the outside you would not know there was a bar. You ring the bell and wait for someone to come let you in. Once you are in it feels like a cross between a living room and a speakeasy of the olden days.The service is right up there, personal, witty and informed. Try any of their cocktails and dont forget to drink the ample water... It helps with lasting longer enjoying the place.
