Bar Moretto - Bar in Vatican City, Vatican City
The food was good but prices a little expensive for the quality. Our first server was very friendly but then disappeared after our food came out. We waited over 15 minutes and never saw him again. Asked a different waiter for the check. The new waiter held us at our table saying we can’t tip with card but we can with cash. We couldn’t physically get out. He asked why we weren’t tipping and we said because we waited so long. He was very rude. The only time we’ve been asked to tip in Italy and the worst service so far. Imagine it’s because of its tourist location. Afterwards he said he was joking with us…
Weve been 2+ hours touring the Vatican and its an excellent refuelling stop. Strongly recommend the Insalata Nonna, Margherita Pizza and Ceci e Pepi.
To be fair coffee was good, but 18.7 for two cappuccinos and a litre of water is just ridiculous! The place is just next to Vatican and Saint Peters basilica but has no good view, so I was definitely not expecting that price.
Good example of why you shouldn’t go to restaurants so close to touristy sites. Service was fine but food was not great. Decent at best. Drinks were good.
Says combo means seperate after charging you 40$ for subpar pasta salad and meatball. Then wants a tip for good service after tricking you
Very good spot! Aperol is the best, lunch was very delicious. Special KUDOS for waiter Chris🤗 he was very attentive and did the best service ever!!!! All the best for Moretto!
Trying to balance a little of the negative piling on here. This is a Cafe steps from the Vatican. The rent has to be ridiculous. They have to make a living off turning over tourists coming and going. So yes the prices are high. No dont go here for a gourmet dinner. And yes the service could have been faster but the selection was wide, the food was delicious (including the berry tart, maybe the best Ive had, certainly outside Franceand the staff friendly once you started to chat with them. Be careful to ask what things cost I guess but if you understand the context, this place was a welcome respite in the middle of a long day of "touring"
Just spent €37,4 on 2 slices(!of pizza and 2 bottles of coke, went in for a quick snack…Servers speak close to no English. All turists shoud avoid at all cost!!!
Overpriced, rude staff and overall an unpleasant experience. Looks nice from the outside but dont be fooled.
Run for your life. Had to give one star to write this reviewSCAMMERS , menu said 8 euros a pound, and then the dish was 80 euros. we asked if that was 10 pounds , they said 1 kilo .... SCAMMERS !!!!
Be aware this bar is overpricing,we just need a quick breakfast for the kids they insisted to let us sit that moment we already felt like it was a bait but because the kids already sitting so we did even thou we knew its not cheap but to our surprise it was so much expensive, still after we see the bill we are willing to pay but we ask if we can divide the payment but the woman was rude and giving us that attitude because she doesn’t want to do the bill in separate payment because we only had 50€ in cash and to pay the rest in card..then we left afterwards we reviewed the receipt found out they even charged us more than what we ordered
Food without good taste, extremely high price and rude service. It can survive just because it’s location. Don’t come pls.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! We sat down and was pressured to order straight away. The waiter said that there was a combo of pasta and meatballs with salad and fries, it’s not a combo, they are all individual prices. Totally deceived and the chips were cold when they came out, asked for some more chips and they just microwaved them. Totally disappointed.
Scam place for tourists. Do not go here. Way overpriced food, and they hide the name of the cafe so you can’t look up the reviews beforehand.
Should have read the reviews first…. The food was good but the price… ASTRONOMICAL!
Ice-cream was ok but the the guy who served us was rude.
Thank you so much for the absolute best brunch in town! I have never had tastier pancakes! And the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. Two blonde girls from Czech Republic. 🥞😊😁🥰🥰🥰
Lovely place for outdoor cappuccino. Restroom could use a remodel.
Very bad, they told us one price and finale price was 5 times bigger. We paid 160 euros for 4 bad plates that they call lunch box. Do not go here. Toilet is also small and it is common for ladies and men, also unclean. Worst experiance ever. Avoid this place
Please do not repeat my mistake and read the reviews before you decide to eat here. Everything about this place is pretty awful, especially the prices.
At first, I thought about giving this place a chance since we had already been seated. That was the first mistake. We waited for 15 minutes, only for the waiter to come and make fun of us, because not everyone on the table wanted food (we had less meals ordered than the number of people on the table). At that point, we immediately left after pointing out the reviews of the place, at which point he called us crazy.
Although there are so many bad reviews this place is actually very nice. The food was good and the gelato was great. Our waiter Sergio was very nice👍.
We were hungry after visiting the Vatican, and stopped here. The food was very so-so, but not bad. The service was actually pretty good with a waiter who was quite attentive, which counts for a lot. But Im afraid that I probably would not return to here if Im in the area.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!! This place is run by scammers who pray on tourists. The prices they advertise are not the prices for food and drink, they always make you sit down rather than just let you take your food away (they pretend to offer you a seat then charge you 10e tax to sit in but dont tell you thisthis was my first experience of Italian food and it was disgusting... oily, burnt pizza... it was awful, they charged us €80 for 1 small disgusting pizza and 4 drinks. The waiter with the grey hair and grey beard is extreme rude and aggressive. DO NOT GO HERE !!!!
Absolutely disgusting. I ate a sandwich and vomited all night. The server was not nice at all, very unprofessional. The price is ridiculously high. For two sandwiches we payed 32€. Run from this place!
Terrible. Awful overpriced absolutely terrible food. Service was pretty bad too. Should have know when the waiter hands you a fork with his fingers on the prongs. Reminded me of that scene in lampoons European Vaca when they were microwaving TV dinners in the kitchen. Garbage.
Avoid this place. I ordered the steak with salt and rosemary and it came as described - literally plain steak with salt and rosemary on the plate beside it with no actual seasoning. The steak also had a lot of fatty bits on it.
Terrible!!! 🤬 I took a juice and Coca Cola and they both labeled as 3€. But it was 5€ on receipt. I asked that and they said that price for take away. This is robbery. One piece of pizza 12€ when you can find the same maybe after 2 streets. That’s the worst experience of my Rome trip. Even don’t walk at the same street 😄
Too bad we only checked reviews after we stepped in. We were served focaccia with mold - MUFFA - me being allergic to it. Most waiters are rude, not all. Also prices are not justified. Avoid this place, or at least check reviews first.
Kinda premade food at a very high prize. About 50€ for two salads and soda. The waiter took away our glasses before we were done
absolute robbery, bad service and incredibly high prices. Made the mistake of not asking the price and when I complained the waiter just shrugged. I would give 0 stars, were it possible. I hope people stay away from this place. 85 euros for 4 icecreams and a bottle of sparkling water. That’s just robbery.
We ordered 4 wraps. They had salad in them and they were hot. The salad melted and it smeled disguisting. We could not eat. Overpriced and really bad food. 12 euro wasted. Avoid this place. The fact that we have the tip on the bill even though we did not have a great experience its not fair.
Worst scam ever. Don’t go to this place. They ask you to sit and triple the price of an Ice cream. Be careful.
The woman who attends the ice cream parlor treated us badly and the waiter inside the bar too and we only ordered ice cream. A very bad experience, we will not return again.
Dont go there!Worst joke ever! The Coffee is disgusting brown water - you need a chewing gum afterwards. The tramezzini is just super dry. And funny thing: they Charge you 15 € for it (because this dry thing was supposed to be a "clubsandwich").As a special gift now my stomach hurts.Nice one!
Waited almost one hour for our food. All four dishes we ordered came seperately. Fries were cold, the food was medium (at best).Definetely not worth the 120 EUR we spent for four persons (one meal and one drink each).
We waited for 30 minutes for our order to arrive, and besides the water bottle our table was empty... We left without even trying the food, the service was awful
Poor service, extremely expensive food, that seemed like a microwaved meal. They charged us 60 euros for a steak with fries, and we had to call the waiter for our change, otherwise he would have walked off with it.
The restaurant and food were amazing ! Unfortunately, our waiter was extremely rude. My family and I are all spanish speaker so the communication was somewhat easy, however some words or what we ordered we obliged to speak Italian out of respect. He was impatient and gave a lot of attitude and when it came to the bill and we inquired about the service fee we got an brushed off and unclear answer. We are from Canada and are accustomed to tip ( yes even when the service is terrible, but the way he handled our service ended up ruining our beautiful morning. It’s a cute place , so if you want good eats you can do take away. Avoid their “service fees” and a waiter that is impatient with tourists.
This IS A SAD NO GO!!!!Avoid this place!1Just today I ordered a Spaghetti with “Frutti di mare” and they included a lobster assuming I ordered it. In the bill they overcharged the lobster! I claim that and admitted the error!2The food was not arriving for us 4 at the same time. In different times we were served!3Quality of the meals was not so bad, but for a cheaper price I got much more quality in Rome.4Prices are shown somehow OK, but when you get the bill, they overcharge every little thing. The bill was too huge! The authorities must be corrupt to allow this kind of business! I don’t know who authorized this business to operate against the tourism in Rome. This place must shutdown, this business gives very bad reputation to Italian service and food!Pity of this place!PS: just FYI 106€ (Aperol, Pizza for our little boy, Calamari and french fries for our little girl, spaghetti with Frutti di mare, Risotto with Frutti di mare, 3 juices, 1 bottle of waterthey added a lobster as if it was included in the menu and billed separated!!!
Cheat. Dishonest business. They must have some pretty terrible karma coming their way. Luckily we were able to tell others entering the restaurant before they ordered food which we got yelled at for from the worker. “RESPECT ME!” he said. “RESPECT my BUSINESS.” But he does not respect his customers by charging us €10 for 5 strawberries. €6 for a generic/ subpar donut that he bought for less than €1. I was blown away. €64 Euros for 5 pastries he didnt even make? and a few drinks? Honestly the worst meal I had in Rome and the most outrageously expensive. And the worst service.
Oh, God. We were just starving after the trip and randomly enter this place. Only inside I checked the rating and prepared to run. But the order was already placed, so I rushed to the waiter asking to change the order. It was possible, hopefully. The wine was OK, and pasta also consumable, just terribly overpriced. The waiter was really creepy - chewing something, coughing and limping. When I asked exactly about the prices he just mumbled "combo! price in menu!". 37 EUR for two persons lunch. Lesson learned - just read the reviews.
Pretty terrible. Unfortunately did not read the reviews, just went inside. Served us the wrong flavours of ice cream, which were also tasteless overpriced. Then they tried to add items on our already overpriced bill.
We needed a break and some food to remind us of home. We had the most delicious burgers - fresh, house made patty and fresh brioche style bun. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced meal. Great location! Thank you to our lovely server Cris for the excellent service and attention.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Only stepped in here because one of our party was faint with hunger after touring the Vatican. Unfriendly, aggressive staff; stale reheated pizza and €10 per slice for the privilege. Pretty sure the reheated cheese is boiling up a stomach upset as I write this. Tourist trap is too nice a turn of phrase. Don’t eat here.
Dont be fooled by the appearance! We were so hungry that we took the first place with available tables without checking reviews, and like many people were really fooled!Extremely expensive and really the worst food you could get, definitely not fresh!!!! My carbonara was tasting very acidic, didnt get sick, but for sure it wasnt good. Waiter was just dropping our plates on the table.Really really avoid it!
Charged me €30 euro for 2 cokes, an ice cream and a very stale cannoli! When I said I wasn’t paying this, he said he would call the police. I said ok, which I don’t think he was too sure on what to do. He reduced it to €25 which I said was still ridiculous, to which he kept laughing and calling me stupid, I said I would pay €15 euros to which he said no. He then put €20 on the card machine so I just paid it.He enticed us in, to which normally it doesn’t cost extra to sit in, or very little. He said that’s why it cost so much ! €10 for 2 scoops of ice cream was absurd! We wish we read the reviews before- most certainly taking advantage because we’re British!
I would like to give minus stars... As a Swiss, I know and love Italian food dearly, but this is an insult to italian cuisine! Unfortunately we were hungry and didnt have access to the internet at that moment so we decided to eat there before checking any recommendations.I had the spaghetti carbonara where the pasta probably never saw a real egg; it was sour and smelled of cheap parmesan. I just ate about a quarter out of decency, which I regretted the night after (woke up with stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea and all that the night before our flight back home). My mothers decision to not touch her artichokes any further after taking one mouth full was probably wise, considering how bad it tasted. On top of that the waiter almost insulted me for not eating the "good italian food" not to mention his poor understanding of hygiene (as in touching his mask which looked like he used it for at least three days in a row and then touching our glasses at the top edge- we drank out of the bottle). There is no way I got my symptoms from any other food or circumstances. All the other things I ate that day were from very good bars and restaurants which I trust because I visited them several times and had wonderful experiences. Please close down that restaurant it is dangerous and I havent even mentioned the price yet.
The old waiter was not very friendly, chewing something while we were ordering, everything was so expensive, Margarita pizza - 10 € and actually burnt, meatballs were cold, spaghetti with meatballs - 25 € and it wasnt in the menu so we didnt know the price. Total - 48 €. We were shocked. Price like in 5 stars restaurant but everything was much much worse.
AVOID BAR MORETTO DI MANCINI TANIA LIKE THE PLAGUE!They have so many bad online reviews that theyve removed the sign with their name outside so you cannot tell which bar/coffee place is.Having a slice of pizza and a coffee at this place was by far our worst experience of our trip in Rome. Waiter looked sneaky but as we desperately needed a coffee, we decided to get in without looking at online reviews first. BIG MISTAKE.They price the pizza for 12 Euros but they made us pay the same amount for just a slice (priced 4-4.5 euros everywhere else), and when I complained to the waiter with the moustache and asked him how much do they then charge for the whole pizza, he just laughed at me. And the cappuccino (6.5 eurowasnt even good.Stay away from the scammers.
