Fantastic fusion of Spanish tapas with classic Sunday roast! We all loved it! The service was excellent too - so efficient. I need to return many times to work through the copas menu - so many tastes to explore! Well be back again and again.

My mum celebrated her 92nd birthday this week. We brought her to Bar 44 Penarth yesterday. She had never eaten Tapas before but she loved it! We had an amazing time. Huge thanks to Nick and his team once again!

Food is incredible. Service at the bar can be slow (although good cocktails take time to make. OK if they are for you, not ideal if you just want a beer and glass of winebut the service recieved is good and staff are friendly and welcoming.

Lovely venue with delicious food & wine. Badly let down by rude / condescending waiter. We asked if they had pinot Grigio - response was a disparaging look and “this is a Spanish restaurant”. He got the drinks order wrong, tried to blame the barmaid and wasn’t very nice the way he spoke to her. Asked for the price of a bottle of wine - response “don’t know, food is ordered through an app on my machine”. After 45mins we asked if food would be much longer - response “it’s tapas, it will come when it’s ready”. Pretty shocking. The General Manager however had a totally different manner, he was polite, professional and went out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

Consistently one of the best places to eat in Wales.Love all of the food, great Vermut and wine, the UVA44 red is delicious.Staff are always friendly.No point recommending certain dishes because its all delicious.

An excellent tapas bar, wonderful food, lovely and knowledgeable staff. Fantastic wine menu. A very enjoyable lunch experience, I will return.

Home to the Penarthian Yummy Mummy and older red-faced types swaggering around high on self-importance, pack earplugs. Otherwise, decent food, nice beer and an okayish wine list. Prices are above what you should expect to pay. Tapas is a traditional peasant dish from Spain, where it will include ingredients from the days catch and is cooked fresh. At Bar 44 tapas has been redefined.

Booked Sunday lunch and had to move the booking several times. Nick emailed us quickly every time and did his best - we had a lovely table and a superb welcome. The meal was wonderful - the beef to share was fantastic, I cannot fault anything - tasty, different and an enormous amount of delicious food. The tapas were great too - bisque, croquettes, prawns, sticky chicken were incredible. The staff here deserve all the credit for their attention to detail and the love they show for the cooking of the food and the serving of it. Well done guys and in particular Nick who goes the extra mile for his wonderful establishment - thank you

Upon entering, one is immersed into an authentic experience where no detail is too small to be overlooked, from the cutlery holders to the staff attire. On repeated visits, we have found bar 44 to be flawless in every regard, particularly in respect to the culinary offerings. The attention to detail shines through with every bite, authentic ingredients used (at great expenseto enhance the taste sensation which results in consistently superb food. In an age where the current pressures are resulting in many establishments to, understandably, cut corners, it is refreshing to see that the impeccably high standards at bar 44 are maintained.The staff, Nick in particular, were impressively knowledgeable about the food, answering questions in intricate detail. The passion for the food and culture is evident from Nicks enthusiastic explanation of ingredients and dishes.Bar 44 really is an experience to be anticipated and savoured.Having visited many times, the adherence to high standards is commendable.

Never heard of this place until my son took me there for a meal it was absolutely outstanding and the staff were second to none Id highly recommend it stunning food

Weve been to the bar 44 in Cardiff Centre loads of times as we love it, penarth was no different. Were both vegan, and the menu was great, they made sure to use vegan wine in our sangria, and our waiter recommended the artichoke, which was amazing, really nice a smoky.the whole meal was really reasonably priced, and we didnt feel rushed at all. The location is great, perfect after a walk along the pier, well definitely be back again at some point, thank you Bar 44 Penarth!

Good lunch, but watch out for the service charge of 10%. Not averse to tipping but dislike it when discretionary amounts are added.

Great food and atmosphere, an amazing selection of foods and cocktails. The service was a bit slow which I have found in my previous visits.

Another fantastic experience at Bar 44. The atmosphere is always great, service was very good and the food is fantastic. The sobrasada on toast is a personal favourite and we really loved the cider poached Leon chorizo. We were there for a family birthday and the children’s menu looked amazing too.

Visited this wonderful restaurant for the Sunday roast. Food was amazing as usual but what really is top notch here it’s the staff: attentive, friendly and very patients with kids. Hospitality at its best. Can’t recommend enough.

Another fantastic meal in my favourite tapas restaurant this side of Madrid. The food really is of an exceptionally high quality, the waiting staff are friendly and welcoming and I love the buzzy ambiance.

Nice Spanish cuisine. The ambience was awesome and is a good place for family. The staff were very helpful in choosing the right cuisine.

Had the most lovely dinner here this evening. Absolutely fantastic food and really lovely service. Would especially recommend the patatas bravas, roast artichoke and the chocolate mousse! Sangria was also delicious. Best service I think Ive ever had in a restaurant - staff were attentive, helpful and chatty. The perfect evening!

Excellent, spacious tapas restaurant. Staff at top notch. Attentive and friendly. Food was all high quality and quick service just before peak time. Very good from a covid-secure perspective. Highly recommend this place if youre in Penarth.

Service was amazing from Erin and Morgan, really attentive and helpful. Eaten out a few times since lockdown eased but this was easily the best food and service. Cant wait to go again

Long time regular here but I was very impressed recently by their own brew beer Toro Blanco! Blows Estrella out of the water! Highly recommended.Needless to say the tapas is absolutely top draw!

TAKEAWAY ONLY **Ordered takeaway food. Good range of tapas and appreciate having a specific vegan menu. Always makes life easier. Reasonable price. The food was nice. But...and I didnt really realise how strange this was until we actually sat down to eat the food at home. They asked us to sign a disclaimer to say they were not liable if the food made us ill. Cant really wrap my head around the manager or chefs thought process. If you are uncomfortable preparing takeaway food then perhaps dont do takeaway!? Because asking customers to sign a wholly ineffectual disclaimer in the event your food makes them ill kind of sends the wrong message dont you think? Deducted one point for creating mild concern that took away from the pleasure of the meal. Seems fair.

An incredible experience, food to die for and staff happy to engage and have a laugh with. For me the Ox cheek with rice was the absolute star of the evening but a close second came the croquetas and the belly pork. Cannot recommend this tapas bar more highly.

The young batman Luke was very nice. I am disabled without even being asked, he automatically asked if I would like my drinks taken to the table. He was very pleasant and helpful. Well done Bar 44. We will be back

Been here a few times now & have enjoyed it each time. The staff have been very welcoming & friendly, always appreciate the small token of acknowledgement to the kids as well.Food Ive had has always been nice, love the jamon croquetas! Nice place to visit & will definitely be returning

Great fresh food with an open kitchen so the cooking can be seen. Tapas menu with lots of options. Comprehensive drinks menu including Spanish sherry and a myriad of gin combinations and also various soft drinks- not the usual Pepsi and coke. Great service . This place gets busy so always best to book.

Lively, dynamic atmosphere and the food was tempting and tasty too. Enjoyed their cocktails and the service was excellent. Even though the place was full and busy the staff were relaxed and very attentive. Prices are fair and tapas a good size even for sharing. Be prepared to spend as it does start to add up; the menu is so tempting its hard to stop trying things.

Bar 44 Penarth, a fantastic tapas bar serving food of the highest quality, gorgeous wines and great gin and cocktail menu. Great service, new menu with delicious additions but my favourite is the goats cheese, fennel and orange. Love this place, always consistent can be busy and noisy near the bar so if you prefer a quieter spot ask for a seat at the back.

Some really tasty tapas, good atmosphere and a wide range of delectable alcoholic drinks. Would recommend to gin lovers - they have beautiful flavours. More expensive than our competition next door, the ocho lounge but worth it on certain occasions.

Authentic tapas cooked in delicious sauces. The Specials menu is very good, pheasant cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the seats are comfortable and spacious.

Not quite Sunday lunch but very pleasant afternoon. We booked to come here for Sunday lunch, a 40 minute drive, as had heard great things. Unfortunately the hot weather spell in Wales broke yesterday and clearly many people suddenly felt cold and in the need of a Sunday roast so there were no roast lunches left when we arrived for our 1:30 booking!!! Staff were very apologetic and very nice. We were given bread and oil on the houseWe ordered various tapas dishes. Highlights were the marinated chicken, chickpea dish and roast lamb tapas ( and some chap falling off his step ladder in a store cupboard?!🤣Very nice and chilled afternoon.
