Brekkie and sandwiches, plus handmade sweet treats, in a cafe chain with a local community focus.
5.30 am and I wanted a coffee to kick start the day, I learned Banjos is open from 5.30 AM !! Yes, plus a lovely woman serving behind the counter, a wonderful coffee and catching my eye was a bacon and egg toasted sandwich. No i wasnt hungry really, but it looked good and it was not a huge thing. Perfect way to start the day, all was quiet and calm, unlike later it the day when it gets busy. Thank you
Awesome food. Awesome staff
Busy place. Great location. Average food.
I have ordered a potatoe pie and a blueberry and apple danish. The fruit on the danish were off! The pastries were old and inedible.
Always a favourite place when I am in the area. Customer service is very good. Friendly staff. Excellent coffee and wonderful fresh food choices.
The bakerys scallop pie is tasty, they normally come out like 9 am each morning and there will be a fresh batch during 1-2 pm. The food was also exceptionally well cooked. The vanilla slice was tasty and not too sweet. The whole place gave me a historical feeling. The place was also very clean and the mini Hawaiian pizza was kinda small but still it is very tasty.
Despite missing out on the scallop pie because I went too late (it would have been my second one for the day btw), the cape grim beef pie and sweet treats were a real winner with the family. A huge thanks to the lovely Jacinta for serving us and a super special mention to Holly who was exceptional in helping me with the drinks (we had a good chuckle). Great customer service overall - true service with a smile
The food was amazing! We had lunch there everyday of our holiday! The pies tasted brilliant and the coffee definitely hit the spot. Best bakery Iโve been to in a long time!
I love my pies! And Banjo bakery do the best Iโve ever tasted, better than Beechworth. Found Launceston Banjo to be better than Hobart too. More filling in pie and not overcooked with the crust.
This delicious curried scallop pie was loaded with scallops
Canโt believe they charges $4.10 for a small can of Pepsi max. What an absolute Ripp off
This review isnt based on the food itself. Its based on the ridiculous amount of time it took to try and get some. At midday on a Sunday, the line up was out the door and there was only one lady serving at the counter and one young bloke making coffee. Not only were they overrun, but they were really slow. Half the tables inside the store were littered with rubbish, obviously due to the staff shortage. After standing in line for a good 10 minutes we gave up, as did many others. If you cant get the staff to service busy periods then why open the doors and annoy every single customer. Weve never had issues with any other banjos stores in the North.
Good food. Busy time when we were there so the place was a mess with dirty tables and plates and cups on lots of empty tables
Best pies Ive ever had. The perfect 10
Bought a $10.50 scallop pie, was disappointed in the pie as there were 3 and a half rubbery scallops in the pie and about 11 pieces of carrot. My family always said to try the pies so i did, Im lucky i didnt dine in as i would have requested a refund. Based on poor quality and the prices are just ridiculous. I then go to leave a review to see your "famous" scallop pie should contain 6 "tender" scallops. Utterly disappointed.
The guy serving was extremely rude, walked off half way through my sentences, then once we got our food, the sausage rolls were so burnt that they were solid and inedible. Not the first time with rude staff and poor quality food at this store...
Great bakery and service, however Tasmania can keep the Scallop pie in Tasmania... Disgusting. All other food from here is really good though ๐
Today, Anzac Day, 25 April 2022, after the Dawn Service in Launceston my family were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and a coffee. Whilst not a lot of cafes were open, Banjos Brisbane Street was. We noticed a people line coming out the door but decided to wait to be served. There was one young female sales assistant serving. What a cool, calm and dedicated person she was. The queue was patient whilst she took orders, dispensed food items and also made the coffee on her own. She did not get flustered and she had a great system going whilst maintaining her composure. WHAT AN ASSET to her employer. She was cool under pressure and served everyone in a great manner. She deserves praise and a raise. It is just a shame I did not get her name. ๐๐๐๐
Lovely place to get a cuppa and something sweet here
Bakers delight style, coffee is extremely so so only.
Perfect food. Great coffee. Good service...
Nice and good coffee and pies
Friendly staff, delicious pies, sandwiches and cakes, lots of choices of drinks, comfortable seating, handy location.
One thing Tasmanian does well and thats bakeries and this one wont let you down. With a huge range of delicious pies, cakes and slices to choose from.Scallop pie was really good and worth trying.Great dining area to stay and eat or takeaway.
Not bad for a quick bite to eat when you canโt find anything else open (which was really hard as tourists from a much larger citythe lies were nice, but not as hot as we would have liked, and I couldnโt really taste the mushrooms in my steak and mushroom pie. The staff were friendly, although a little u sure if what she was doing. Not a bad spot to stop on a cool winters afternoon.
Came in for breakfast and was sold burnt food, took it back and was offered to swap it, I said all the food is clearly black and burnt. The attendant agreed yes most likely so gave me a refund but left all the burnt food in the cabinet to sell to other poor customers!! Disgusting!
Great friendly service, food selection in display case is fantastic. Coffee is wonderful
I am very disappointed in your sml pie which up until recently I have enjoyed very muchWHERE HAS THE MEAT GONE ๐ฃMy mother who has termal cancer and asked for these especially and to my horror when she told a bite sml scrapping of meat at them bottom. This is not the first time this has happened all I can say again is DISAPPOINTED.
Bland soft bready croissant, jam and butter served in plastic disposable containers. The coffee was burnt and overextracted - didnโt even finish my piccolo.
Had breakfast there, wasnโt very busy as it usually is which was good for me, loved the hot chocolate, great price for it, also had the sausage roll, very expensive, $3 for a mini sausage roll!
Food and staff are nice, however, critically understaffed with nobody wiping down tables or clearing away rubbish. You would think hygiene would be a priority but Ive sat here for an hour drinking my coffee and eating breakfast. At no time have tables been cleared. Rather, it is left for the next customer to DIY it.
They are open nice and early and the coffee is good.I am addicted to the sausage rolls, and have an egg and bacon pie as part of my hangover routine.Smack bang in the heart of stunning Launceston.Make a pilgrimage.
Went back to Banjos again after two weeks, had a really good experience. The staff (Nishwho served me was very friendly, he did a great job toasting our Croissant. The Eggs Benedict Croissant was really good and the Cajun chicken pita is highly recommended as well.
Delicious coffee, vegan options, awesome atmosphere.
They have fast service bit with my coffee, I got this disgusting pumpkin tasting biscuit with salt on top. yuck! It was so salty so dont eat it. Good cafe but why the salty biscuit??
This bakery has a variety of delicious pastries and baked goods, sweet and savoury. A great spot and something for everyone to enjoy!
Pretty good bakery. Staff were super friendly and the vibes were nice. Pretty amazing vegetarian and vegan options here which is always good to see.
Ordered a flat white and a philly cheese steak sandwhich and the flat white came out burnt as all hell, froth more than that of a cappuccino, and smelt like old cigarettes.Food was okay, burnt bread and meat was very wet and bland.
Busy bakery, but they manage to get everyone served nice and fast. A great range of hot savory snacks as well as plenty of sandwiches and pitas. Staff are friendly and fast. A great spot for a snack or a meal!
Liked the scallop pie and beef pepper pie. The presentation of the food is great. Need more staff though to improve the service.
Very nice set up, spacious seating. Even better food.
Nice scallop pies, curry flavored. And friendly staff.
Good coffee, nice salad sandwiches and friendly efficient staff.
We loved seeing so many Banjos Bakeries when visiting Tasmania. They have a great ethical conscience including serving fair trade coffee. Sausage rolls are always great & fresh, plus a good selection of other baked goodies. Something for all the family, young & old, is available to satisfy even the most fussy eaters.
Being from Canada, have to say that this is the closest to an "Aussie Tims" that you will ever experience. Good coffee, tasty and affordable food and excellent breads. Cant remember the name but you have to try a loaf of the bread with the nuts and seeds (not sweet bread), the $7.50/loaf is good value. Consider the environment and pick up one of their travel mugs!
I wouldve rated it zero. The Staff treated us and other people with a different race with no respect! We asked for a chocolate muffin and one of the staff members gave us a different muffin to our orders because they said to we WITH A RACIST CHINESE ACCENT THERE IS SUM TING WONG WITH IT! THE MUFFIN TASTED HORRIBLE AND IT WAS STALE!!! Also we asked for some coffee and some hot coco to warm ourselves and waited for an hour and it never came. After that they acted dumb and said You never ordered those even though I was waving the Buzzer to them. Your staff are a complete racist people they only served the people that was white. You should fire ALL of them its bringing your business down I WAS OUTRAGED AS SHE GAVE US A SMUG LOOK TO US WHEN WE LEFT.
I told my son to go buy me a toast with butter at the place. He went and bought the toast and did not look in the bag. After giving the toast to me it was completely burnt and almost in-edible. I went back to the store and asked for a refund or a new piece of toast but the staff at the counter was very rude and denied my request
Food was ok, but annoyed that there were no vegetarian options for a cheese toasty. The counter staff member was so unreasonable - we were eating in house and i ordered a muffin for my friend. I took the cake to the table which was 3 steps away and realised I had ordered the wrong item. I returned to the counter immediately to exchange the muffin and my request was refused because "I had already left the counter so they couldnt put the muffin back in the display, as it breaches their policy". I tried to reason with her and explain that i had just been at the counter 5 seconds ago but she wouldnt budge. I ended up having to buy both items. incidentally, there us no sign warning customers about this store policy. A very disappointng experience and I would never go there again!
The service was terrible. I ordered a blueberry danish and the staff gave me the wrong one. So I asked to change it and she threw it into the bin in front of me without saying sorry or anything like it was because of my fault! The coffee quality was below average. I didnt expect much but the service and food quality were far lower than my low expectation. )-:
When on a visit recently to my home state of Tasmania I visited Banjos Launceston for an old favourite, a raspberry house cake. As I remembered it was delicious. However I also ordered a coffee which was indescribably strong and I was unable to drink it. Sorry guys but it would be the worst coffee Ive ever had. Next time Ill just stick with the house cake.
