The Bangladesh National Museum (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় জাদুঘর), is the national museum of Bangladesh.[2] The museum is well organized and displays have been housed chronologically in several departments like department of ethnography and decorative art, department of history and classical art, department of natural history, and department of contemporary and world civilization. The museum also has a rich conservation laboratory. Nalini Kanta Bhattasali served as the first curator of the museum during 1914–1947.
Too much rush on ticket counters. Long wait for the ticket, crowded by people who went their for selfie only neither for artifacts nor for history and culture. Take rest for few minutes after each gallery. The long walks will give you one nasty foot ache...
Its a gem in Dhaka city. An amazing state of the art museum upholding crucial history & information of Bangladesh in a very organized & interactive fashion. Its design is comparable to the Smithsonian museums of the US. Its a must visit place for children growing up in Bangladesh, to learn about Bangladesh. Therefore, I highly encourage schools & parents to take their children here. Since its a huge museum, its ideal to keep at least 3 hours in hand to properly explore the whole museum.Tickets are extremely reasonable & the museum is very well maintained.
Beautiful place to see the culture traditional history of the country......

The late novelist Michael Crichton is reported to have said, “If you dont know history, then you dont know anything. You are a leaf that doesnt know it is part of a tree.”
The biggest museum in Bangladesh. But bit unhappy with current elements. I visited in 1998 and it seems a lot of elements missing. Not sure what happened

Its a place of collection of remarkable things which can inspire our youngest generation. All are invited to become witness of this phenomenal history and culture of our beloved Bangladesh. Thank you.
Not so good for local people. Its better for foreigners.
Entering the museum was a different experience, as it took half an hour to get inside, Because at that time there was no system to buying tickets from the counter, due to we had to buy tickets from online, for net problems it took a lot of time to buy tickets from online. But after entering inside, that trouble was removed, however due to short time, I could not visit much, but I had the opportunity to see many things. Such the museum exhibits old coins, books on art, ivory and silver filigree work, metal pictures, many textiles including the famous muslin fabric and Nakshi Kantha, weapons and ammunition from the Mughal period, series of paintings and sculptures from the Buddhist and Muslim periods, handicrafts and village and town life. Model and most importantly- Invaluable Essay on Liberation War of Bangladesh which points out the backbone of Bangladesh history can be found there. There are some old guns in the entrance and hall on the ground floor where people book their tickets or gather to hear the history of the museum. A large staircase leads to the hall. Next to the hall, there is a small room that serves as a hall (it also uses guides to inform visitors about the historyand a common staircase.
The museum’s collection and management has improved so much since I visited last in 2011. There was long line when we visited as it was a public holiday. Buy your ticket and leave your bag with them in locker. This section is right side after you enter through the entrance gate. There is greenery around. The ground floor has a canteen where you can eat snacks if you are hungry. There is drinking water system in 1st floor as well as outside. There is also toilet and breast feeding corner for women in first floor which is amazing. The first floor is more about the culture, information and flora-Fiona etc. the 2nd floor has great collocation of art pieces. Go there with lots of time, it will be a good day. But the visitors can be quite rude. Though it was restricted to take any photos, 98% of the visitors were rude and taking photos, videos and were ignoring the museum staff when they were instructing them not to take any photos/videos. It was chaos with huge crowd, children crying and loud and rude visitors. Apart from that the behavior of museum staff were cordial and the collection was great to know about Bangladesh. Would recommend to go during weekdays or avoid going during public holidays.
This museum is contains massive history of our country and culture...The archives are really old and has a proper history such as liberation war and pure bengali stuffs....I specially liked the animal mommy section...

National Museum of Bangladesh has a great histrionic values. It has lot of collections of National and international heritage symbolic pieces. Authorities are so caring and alert all the time while visitors are entering into the Museum. Visitors need to follow the government as well as authorities rules and regulations. Maximum visitors break the rules of the Museum. They take photos of all the area which is prohibited. Museum spaces are very long, maximum visitors feel tired to see the heritages. In Every floor, there is place to take rest and drink fresh water. Toilets are available in every floor. Snacks foods are also available in the ground floor. Every visitors need to keep polite and maintain the authorities rules and not need to capture the photos inside the Museum.
