Koh Chang(King), Ko Chang District, Trat 23170, Thailand, Trat
Bang Bao Pier - Tourist attraction in Trat, Thailand
Despite some reviews that say this is just a tourist trap, I thoroughly enjoyed strolling through this village. I had a lovely spicy seafood salad for lunch and wandered right through to the lighthouse. I thought it was very charming!
Interesting pier with an arcade before you get to the boats
Its A local Boat rider start point. There is a Big food market and Sea food available here. You Can Go Kohmak from Here
An interesting place to be, but sadly, a lot of shops are closed after the pandemic. There is a diving school though, so if youre interested in getting your PADI license, you can consider coming here. There are also tours that bring you to other islands.
Worth a visit but unfortunately the place is in need of lots of maintenance. Many stalls selling food and souvenirs and some good photo opportunities out on the pier.
Small pier, good fresh seafood restaurants at the pier.
Souvenir, souvenir. Tours to the Islands around the south. Fresh from the sea 😀
A lovely place with some interesting shops, diving school, fishing boat trips, snorkeling boat trips, day trips to other nearby islands, all can board here. There are some lovely guest houses by the pier and many restaurants.
Nice pier with people still living on the houses connected to it. The restaurant on it are on the other hand quite tourist centred and expensive. We found a nice restaurant right opposite the start of the pier (looks like a parking lotand ate for half the price of what the other restaurants were offering! It also gets VERY hot on the pier. Its good to go in the morning or the afternoon when they are selling lots of affordable snacks like fruit, seafood on a astick, Thai pancakes and more.
Great place where you can visit a fishing village. This pier is also the place where you connect to other island when you join the tour.
Pretty lighthouse at the end of the pier. Tourist souvenir stalls along the walkway, and a few food vendors.
I love this place, it has so much character. The ramshackled somewhat random collection of wooden stilted building sprouting either side of the central walkway is a large part of its charm. Some of these buildings are in disrepair and others look as they they might disintegrate into the sea, but it all seems to hang together with a variety of shops and eating places. There is even accommodation to rent on the Pier. But there are two parts to this Pier, the second part is open, and a mooring area for boats doing dive/snorkeling trips, sightseeing and fishing boats. Great views out to sea and the shoreline from the smal lighthouse at the end of the Pier. This place is a tourist attraction in its on right.
I think because of the covid time so thats why many store was closed. But it was a nice view. There are a few restaurants, cafe and homestay if u want.Parking cost 60 Baht per a car (but overnight is other pricebut you can get free parking if u have food in the restaurant over 800 baht or follow thier condition.
Went in the day time and had to pay 20 baht to park the bike - you might be able to find somewhere on the side of the road to park for free though.Long pier with lots to look around but it is mainly tourist gift shops and restaurants/bars. Nice to look around but doesnt take too long!
Go through the market to get to the lighthouse at the end. Parking is available outside for 60 THB, as soon as you park they will come to you...
All theway on the southern tip of Koh Chang, you can find Bang Bao, which is a lovely village to walk through. Theres a pier and a small beach as well. In the village you can go shopping for some souvenirs and relax at the pier, listening to the calm water. Boats to several other islands depart from here as well.
Needs a lot of work as many parts are run down. Watch your step as many dangers if not careful. A few new shops have been built but no tenants. Not many tourists so many places shops and restaurants are closed. Been here many times before but hasnt changed much in 3 years. Parking is a rip off, my car cost me 60 baht short term & 200 baht a day if longer. 3 years ago short term was 40 baht. 50% increase. Will only go again if tour booked and use free songthaew.
I loved the place so quit and peaceful in this time of pandemic. The sea is clear and a lot of fishes, the entrance of the pier have a lot of business like foods dresses and etc.
Walk through some still remaining stalls with food and souvenirs to reach the small light house.
Cool place to visit if you are on Koh Chang.
Nice small village and Pier with lot of shops and Restaurants. Some of them closed at the moment and its very quite but worth to see and very friendly people.
Lovely walk through the pier market which then opened out to fishing boats and a lighthouse. Really nice cafe there too where the coconut cake was simply to die for! Very much worth a visit!
The place is almost empty as most of the shop are closed due to covid. We did walk to the end of the walkway to the lighthouse. It was pretty dirty got trash on the ground along the way. Seemed like people really abandoned this place.
Driving around koh Chang we were pleasantly surprised to stumble accross the Ban Boa pier. We booked a fishing trip there and bought some great unique gifts for our familys . There are many seafood restaurants and souvenir shops . We chartered a fishing boat and had a great day out fishing .catching 4 king mackeral.
So good place and has a very nice view.. There are lot sof souvenir shops and cafe/small resto to dine-in.. Along the way, there a many shops offering snorkeling and island hoping packages!
Fishing, snorkeling, boat trips to other islands, everything you may want. There is a lot of small restaurants, coffee shops and gift shops as also rooms for rent. Very nice place to visit.
Nice place to walk out and see the local lifestyle on the water. Many diving or island tours start from there and are also sold there. Some nice coffee shop also out there and a big seafood restaurant. Parking cost is a bit high in my opinion. Many shops for souvenirs or beach wear in this area.
Fishing and snorkelling tours leave from this pier. Explore the market stalls on the pier and checkout the nearby places to stay next time you visit Koh Chang. Prices are very reasonable and it is a beautiful location frequented by only the keenest travellers.
Quite nice place, boats, plenty of souvenir shops, small "lighthouse" at the pier.. I kind of expected more though, its really touristy and there is no amazing sea view..
Typical Thai pier many shops selling tat to tourists and a couple of good restaurants to boot worth a visit
During the quieter times this little shopping street and lighthouse at the end is a nice place to wander, sit for a coffeeand spot fish. If youre feeling brave you can climb the rusting steps to the top of the lighthouse. Its a nice spot to take photos of the island.
One of several pier on Koh Chang. Long walkway to the morring point. Lots of souvenirs shops along the way. Occasionally you smell the salted fish which can be quite strong.
Quick lift, just on time, with pick up and drop off from hotel to hotel. Just perfect
Not maintained, looks like its dying a slow death. A few nice shops and places to eat. Prices are a little high. Even the 7/11 at the pier entrance. Good parking. Restrooms? Did see and didnt look. One small and two large well maintaine dive boats were there, that looked active.
Very local yet very tourist area. This area is very small and not easy to arrive unless u drive. If you drive, take note that it is a dead ended road so you better park the car a bit earlier before you really arrive the village (google map will take you deep inside the village but actually car is not allowed)
As other reviews described, this place is a silent and amazing place. Lots of local people live in this area and there are many seafood restaurants nearby. I would recommend this place for a short visit with stunning view in Koh Chang.
Cool place over the water, lots of tucked away places to eat and get souvenirs. A place to meet for island trips as well.
A former fishing settlement built on stilts turned into a tourist village with plenty of shops with food, clothing and souvenirs, bars, restaurants, cafes, tourist agencies organizing trips, diving and snorkelling companies, guesthouses etc. There is a ferry and some boats mooring to the pier and a lighthouse at the end of the pier.
Love the pier and the market around the pier and all the restaurants on the water. You have to come here if you visit all the island near Koh Chang.
Cosy fishers town with quite a lot of souvenir shops and seafood restaurants. Fun to walk trough because the people are friendly and many souvenirs are self made.Snorkling and diving starts here and is most of the time cheaper than booking through your hotel. The main walk to the pier leads you through various shops and restaurants but after that you get to the pier where the boats are docked. At the end there is a lighthouse which gives you a nice view over the bay.On the negative side, there was some trash laying around and the lighthouse itself was filled with leftover food and plastics.
I nice shopping "street" on the water!! Nice shops restaurants and other places to see. Friendly people and the right place to start a nice boat cruise around the island.
This Pier is good for booking trips around Koh Chang, like elephant riding or island hopping. Also you can book diving tours here. One "7/11", ATM and restaurants are here too.
Nice for a tourists. Place To walk, to buy, to see.
A very long village like market on the sea. Fish shops, tourist and souvenir shops. Definately worth a visit if you are on the island. unique character and food options. Lots of boats leave from here too for other islands and snorkelling and diving trips and I think there was a fair few places you could book them here too
Nice fishing village with many shops and fish restaurants, many boat trips leave from here and at the far end of the pier a beautiful lighthouse.
The first part of the pier is commited to shops, restaurants and guest houses placed on pillars in the water and separeted by a narrow walkway that is the pier. It’s roofed, but there’s a breeze cooling the place. Many of the restaurants seem very pleasant. The second part is where many tourist boats dock. At the end there’s a little lighthouse.
Nice place.. to walk around.. it’s the departure point from many boats trips..and you get as well plenty of small shops, cafes and restaurants..if you walk until the end you will have a good view for sunset and a small lighthouse.. it’s a very chill place to be!I can just recommend a stop if you go on the south of the island!!
Walk through the markets and pick up some food to enjoy on the pier . There is a lighthouse at the end which has recently been vandalised. Some nice old boats here to see also
Great place with great views of the bay. Chilled place where you can eat do some small shopping and walk around
Original pier with small vendors selling clothes, souvenirs, authenthic thai food and goodies. At the end of the lighthouse you come to a lighthouse. Fishing boats on both sides.
