Bambu Asian Food - Asian restaurant in Chimaltenango, Guatemala
I had a good experience with the food here considering the fact that I was having asian cuisine in Guatemala.I tried the dumpling soup, pad thai and passion fruit bubble tea. The pad thai was my favorite.Even though The service was great, it is a bit slow for such a small place.
Long wait to get the food or even drinks. I had the Tika Masala, and it wasnt good. Too much curry powder, so it was bitter, and it comes with noodles instead of naan which I didnt like.
It takes a lot for me to write a bad review but this was extremely disappointing. Coffee, which was undrinkable, took 20 min despite me being one customer out of 3 in the restaurant. Ramen is totally tasteless, noodles used are the cheap packet kind you get at the supermarket, but somehow less flavoursome (NOT the noodles displayed in the photos!). Please take on this feedback because it really stings spending 65Q on noodles like this!
Wow great Asian food in Central America! Yes there is at Bambu .The staff are super friendly and stayed open late to accommodate my party.
The Ramen was tastless. We ordered two Ramens, one without cilantro. My friend made the order as she is fluent in spanish. Somehow it was understood without onions. I (who speaks very limited spanish). When the food arrived both had cilantro. I sent my friends back as she was not at the table. Without realising at this point that one Ramen was missibg spring onions. Further more they did not make a fresh Ramen. They just took off what was visible on the top. My friend really dislikes cilantro. By this point the staff were very unhappy with as as we asked then for soya sauce. An extremley small ramkin was provided for both of us. The noodles tasted like they were instant. The egg white was not even cooked. Not a pleasant experience in my opinion. Staff did not seem to care about anything. I would defibatley not recommend this place to people who know the Ramens!
Pad Thai is really good.
Best Pad Thai in town, and the dumpling jus deliciosooo, must try this place if you like asian fusion food!!!
I came here multiple times during my stay in Antigua. Though it wreaks of fried food (open some doors and windows! They can still make you fresh food without all the oil and its tasty. You guys have to reveal to customers, however, that no sauces were vegetarian. We let the server know that we dont eat fish or meat yet she never informed us that the sauce had fish in it. The menu needs to inform this as well.Other than that, we liked the place and ate here all week.
I got a vegetrian meal but they didnt mention that the "limon and garlic" sause contain fishI came at 11am to eat. Like is written on google and they said to me they open in 11:30. So alot of misinformation But the food is good and the service is alright
food was very delicious! we had tofu pad thai and dumplings with bubble tea, everything tasted really good, flavorful, and in good taste.
If this is your first time visiting Antigua, I wouldnt recommend this place, but if you have come many times, and you are in the mood for some asian food, go ahead and try this out. The location is good, very close to the park, and the prices affordable. The interior doesnt feel like you are in Asia, but it is ok, small and clean. The vegetables were fresh, and all the the other food prepared in the moment. I asked for the Teriyaki Bowl, it was good, I wasnt that impressed either. So If I would come here again? I guess only if I were in the area and in the mood for asian food.
Decent Asian food. They have surprisingly okayish boba which I didnt expect in Guatemala and the pad thai is also decent. Nice environment to chill and hang out.
The food was very good...Though I would call it more of an Asian / Guatemalan mix and thats a good thing...at 170 quetzales for two tacos a bowl of ramen soup and 10 dumplings it was good value for the money!Additionally they had a very large selection of bubble teas and other Asian drinks like Thai coffee etc...We did not try those this time but they looked and smelled fantastic!I would not hesitate to go back!
Food is good, service is good just feel a little pricey like Im back in the States but I guess for the location and the tourist
I liked it. My Asian American Missus wasnt so keen. But what does she know?
Excelente atención y muy buen producto
Summary: Find another restaurant. Food not very good (also higher price than should bethough other dishes may be better? Unsure.Ordered chicken Pad Thai - I did not like it.Dont choose it, if you must eat here. I should have listened to the other review here. There was too much lemon and not enough real Pad Thai sauce. Bad flavor. They even put half a lime in there for me to add more if I wanted :/... The bad thing about non-authentic food is that the original culture tries to make the food acceptable by adapting it for the culture where they are, thereby ruining the food. Its better to find a restaurant elsewhere with authentic food and chef.My wife took the Chinese Dumpling Soup (mushroom), and it was average but way too much pepper. She couldnt finish it.Their pricing doesnt make too much sense. Soups are more expensive than normal dishes. Vegetables in Guatemala are super cheap and water is nearly free, so prices for soups shouldnt be high, but theyre at North American prices.Careful when paying with credit card, they add the 10% tip in there and you cant avoid it (they did warn me about it though, but didnt have enough cash on me, so had to pay with CC). If this was about a credit card fee, then it should be around 3% only. If you pay with cash, you can choose to tip or not. This is a fast food place, so you pay before receiving your dish.Fun fact, Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese do not accept tips as a matter of honor and respect (they dont want to be influenced by tips and will provide their best service at all times, which is how restaurants worldwide should behave). Yet, this place, being an Asian fast food restaurant, forces you to tip.Service was okay, but once you ask questions, you get those rather uninformative answers (that lack content alsothat do not answer your questions. I even wanted to know their website address and I was given an address that didnt work. Later on I found out that they only have a Facebook page. What was the worker giving me then? This behavior and experience is very common around the country :(.. Have lived here for around 4 years.
Only tried the drink. The bubble tea wasnt amazing but still good.
Amazing place 💜✨
Buena comida, deliciosas bebidas y ambiente agradable
Ok place, very small. Food was decent but Id rather go elsewhere.
Good Asian fusion food. Especially the Korean tacos. The bubble tea however isnt that great; its made from powder and I prefer from fruit or at least a concentrate. Cute little place with friendly staff right off the park
Food is delicious! Their Bubble Tea is the best and the service is awesome too. 😊 I totally recomend it.
Very good Pathai
Tasty smoothies, slower service, fairly authentic.
my favorite dish is the dumplings. I ate 18 in one sitting the other day w. my friend klay.
Deliciosa comida y muy saludable... Si te gusta comer rico y sano tienes que visitarlo...
