Bamboo Hut Bistro in Gawler

Recommended by friends…… first and last time! When you order 3x crispy beef the same dish at 5:30pm when you open…. Then get told to pick up at 6:10pm (shockedonly to rock up then and find they haven’t even started it yet. The daughter said her dad had to wait to get the oil hot. Ok so people it takes 45 minutes to heat up shallow oil to fry crispy beef. Wish I could say it was busy but I can now see why you only had 2x family members dining inside. When questioned try looking at the customer and apologizing. It will get you far….. lies, long wait times and blank facial expressions will only lead you to centerlink.

Our group of 4 dropped by about 30 mins before closing on a Thursday night. The food came out really quick and the quality was impressive. I recommend the crispy beef. Our spend was ~$35 per head and it was the perfect amount. Table service was patient and friendly. Worth the travel to Gawler.

The food was lovely but sadly no rotis on the day we went.

Had fish cakes as a on entree they tasted like they had been reheated. To say they tasted horrible would be an understatement. Had to wait so long for it to be served up as well. Mains waiting around an hour. Its the first place I have ever cancelled the order and left starving. Table next to us was also complaining about the wait for food. The rice they were served was cold and they asked for it to reheated. I would definitely give this place a miss

Awesome meal. The menu is very varied. The dining in option is a nice experience with the grass hut shelters and intimate atmosphere. The food is outstanding. Some of the most flavoursome food you will eat with an absence of most of the usual fried batter dishes. Highly recommend for both dine in and takeaway.

Omg first time here, Im a local and never about this place. All I can say is yum yum yum.Definately returning, bloody awesome feed.

WARNING: You need to call at least an hour ahead to order. If the phone keeps ringing out they are just too busy. They have only a tiny kitchen, but what a kitchen! Fresh & tasty Thai & Chinese food. All ingredients taste fresh & the serves are generous. The staff are helpful & polite & do the best they can with the limitations of such a small kitchen & prep area. Eat in only on weekdays if you must - you will need lots of time if you try a weekend. They are predominantly takeaway.

Food is good at best. The service though is absolutely trash! Don’t bother eating in you’ll be waiting an hour for an entree and to order take out I Called 33 times and nobody answered the phone. When it was answered they hung up. I’ll take my money elsewhere.

The food was good the service was average but it always had been. Still a good place for dinner.

Worst service . Over priced and food was below average . Never will we waste our money again $80 dollars for 4 things. Gawler palace all the way !!!

Great food and obvious effort has been put into the ambiance. Service was a bit too relaxed (was over 10mins before they took our order, and they werent serving anyone else, we could see them chatting in the kitchen but couldnt get their attention as they never once looked over at the customer tablesbut servers were friendly and helpful besides that. My partner had the lemongrass chicken which was fantastic, and I had the honey chicken which was very nice at first but I think needs to be ordered as a shared dish rather than a main as its a bit bland and oily when its the only thing youre eating.Overall it was a pleasant experience and we will probably be returning there in future.

Food is outstanding and always worth the wait for takeaway. Dont spoil it by eating in, you will only be disappointed!

The food is amazing, service a bit slow but food worth the wait..been going there 30 yrs. If you dont like bland tasting Asian food this is the place to go. Its small & intimate, so doesnt accomadate large groups, family run business..

Bamboo Hut Bistro is an overpriced mediocre Malaysia and Thai cuisine bistro, that is located next to Gawler Cinemas very popular with the local but sadly the food quality is below par for the above average price tags; swing by if your looking for an Aussiefied version of Malaysia and Thai foods and have never been to South East Asia countries.

Have always enjoyed eating here but tonight we were waiting 10 minutes from when one persons meal came out to the last. They should all come out together. Pad Thai not as nice as usual.

Staff did not get order correct after waiting up to 20 mins even though no one else in there. When we got home no boiled rice. Rang then I said there is nothing you can do now, she said the same back to me. Very aragant. Wont go there again.

Entered at 7:40 now 8:20 and only just got the main course. Cant fault the food or the friendly staff but there are problems here. Place is only half full and they think its a busy night. It wont survive.

Friendly staff offering good service, unfortunately the wait times can be a little long.That being said, the food is delicious.Freshly prepared and served in a quaint environment.Wheelchair ♿ parking and access is available, although the entrance may be tight for some wheelchairs.

I can handle wait time for good food but honest chicken was dey and fried rice burnt. So disappointed.

Fabulous food, always delicious whether take away or eat in. Their Laksa is to die for. Be prepared to order ahead, its a long wait when their busy - but worth it.

Best asian food in gawler, however small kitchen that gets overwhelmed when busy. Best to get takeaway so you dont wait for your food
