We don’t understand the pricing.Soup here was $10You can get the same size soup elsewhere in town for ~$6-$7Otherwise service was good and what we tried was decent.

Pretty good food, acceptable price, wonderful service and nice decor.

We stopped here for a feast after a long day of hiking. Its a pretty casual crowd with nice ambiance. For the apps, the spanakopita was the highlight for me -- definitely get it! Others were pretty average, but still tasty. Lambs dishes are supposedly their specialites here. The lamb chops were super tender, the lemon potatoes were flavorful and delicious, and the feta dip was an excellent compliment for both. This was a very solid plate. The linguine dish wasnt as creamy as expected, but it had a generous amount of seafood. The chicken dish had good flavor, but was another average dish. I enjoyed the baklava to finish things off. We definitely left Balkan with full stomachs and satisfied appetites.

Great for groups! I have been teaching a professional development course at the Banff Centre nearby and we needed a place to take 20+.Balkan was affordable (we’re a nonprofitand the service was SO warm and as a guy who hosts a lot of events and business meetings across Canada, really good at the business of hosting.Our host was a wonderful man who himself fundraises for many causes, Cancer first among them.The food was delicious, most surprising and memorable was the very dense and delicious chocolate torte. The traditional saganaki was flaming and fun, the whole visit delighted our group and frankly was served promptly which is a bit of a miracle in a tourist town like Banff.Highly recommended.

We came for dinner and it was amazing. I had the chicken Greek bowl and my friends shared a platter. To our surprise there was a show on Thursday - a gorgeous belly dancer and Greek dancing where patrons could get involved. Would 100% recommend this restaurant!

We were very disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. Small portions in generall which felt overpriced and also bland in tastes. Didnt feel very Greek with a Balkan name and middle eastern music 😅.My order was mixed up. I ordered a warm halloumi sallad but got a halloumi bowl instead which was also a more expensive meal. Didnt notice it until we were going to pay the bill and unfortunately had to pay for it.

Excellent and delicious authentic Greek food. Very good family owned and run restaurant, friendly and helpful staff a brilliant alternative for good value good quality food.

Delicious and Mouthwatering. They serve halal lamb chops which is the best. This is a must try restaurant in Banff.

AMAZING! Food was delicious, show was fantastic. So much fun to participate. Hands down the best lamb I have ever had in my life. We got the sample platter which was more than enough for two people and some of the best Greek food we have ever had.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to leave here hungry.

Outstanding quality and taste.. portions a little smaller for the appetizer, but just right for the main course. The hummus was to die for. One weird thing was they did not serve the beer but handed out a can and a glass.

BEWARE OF THIS TOURIST TRAP. This once great resteraunt has gone downhill. I used to drive 2 hours to come up to banff just to eat here, never again. Terrible food, small portions, and extraordinary prices, and they ran out of vegetables. I have had better greek food from truck stops in Athens. And the waitress working there could care less that we were unhappy with our meals. The owners should be ashamed of what they are passing off for greek cuisine.

Excellent fresh authentic Greek food. So well done at Balkan. Fresh salads were a great end to a day hiking. The entrees were great, flavorful with fresh ingredients. A good selection of cocktails. Priced appropriate for quality. Service was good.

I am not a fan of Greek food, and I have only been to three other Greek restaurants. The Balkan restaurant is by far the best that I have been to. I am lactose intolerant so I was resigning to the fact that I will just order a side of Kalamari and call it a night. Not only did The Balkan have dishes with out any dairy products, but they were all visually and gastronomically pleasing. Also, the staff played a huge role in the amazing experience. Definitely a great place to go to for an amazing event. I will be back again.

Our server was amazing. So nice, attentive, and gave great recs for places during the rest of our trip. Apps/drinks/meal came out incredibly promptly. Everything was good. Pork chop was actually great. Super flavorful and juicy which is not something common. Sides were okay. Charred lamb appetizer was good and pita and hummus was also good. Would recommend.

We dine in here for lunch, we are a group of 10 people. I really like the ambiance of this restaurant, very nice decor and sitting arrangements. Menu was good i just miss some greek favourite on thier lunch menu, but it was ok. Just little wierd to see pork on thier menu. All of us have a great time, service and food were good! My Uncle fr Calgary said he will come back here. I am fr Vancouver, and maybe when i am around this area again, will come back to Balkan.

Except for the famous lamb shank, I didn’t liked anything! Moreover, their place compared to the food quantity is way to high! Greek salad were good too but not top notch! Reading all the previous reviews I had great expectation and was excited to try Balkan but was kinda disappointed!

Wonderful, WONDERFUL food - and a beautiful restaurant, too. The prices were fair and the portions generous. I highly recommend!

We ordered dip platter, falafel bowl, both were good with decent portion sizes. Also ordered Feta balls while they tasted good, they were cold.Restaurant was supper busy and the music a little too loud, but overall good food makes up for it!

Greek fries were superb. Pork gyros was very good. Service was excellent.We dined outdoors for lunch. We enjoyed the pork gyros, one with Greek fries, the other with the horiatiki salad. All good food but the Greek fries really stood out.Scotts service was excellent.

We entered this restaurant and it had a beautiful vibe of a Greek environment with elegant decoration. This was the best Greek food I have had in all of Canada with fresh veggies and on order made meat. Every single item had a different and exquisite taste which the flavor bursts into your mouth. Try this out if you are in banff and our host Scott made it all better with his amazing personality.

Ordered the pork gyro with salad and Balkan donair with fries. The pitas were massive and tasted amazing and they were very generous with the sides. The fries were crispy and tasted okay, the salad was decent, had some wilted lettuce leaves and quite watery.Service was bad, sat down for 5 minutes with no water or service and the place only had 3 tables. Wait staff didn’t check up or ask if we needed anything else.

The staff is very amicable and prompt, food was really good as well. Have decent variety of local beers.

Delicious Greek food!! Anyone looking for Greek food in Banff this is the place to go to worth a try right in downtown walking distance to any of the hotels on Banff avenue.

Great food. Had in house entertainment - a belly dancer. Which was great but a little awkward when she was right at your table and youre not really sure what to do or say or look. But overall a great experience that we still reminisce on and laugh about today.

The food here is amazing. We tried three appetizers (calamari, dip trio, and saladplus we had desert (baklava). I had the pork chops and my wife had leg of lamb for dinner.. We would certainly eat here again. The portions were the right size and the flavors were perfect. It was a great dinner with great service.

Pretty good food but overpriced (should be 3 $$$, not 2and the portions aren’t big (my brother ended up getting McDonalds after cause he was still hungry lol). The lamb here is halal so I got the lemon and herb lamb chops which was really flavourful and delicious. Service was just okay, and ambience was not bad. For the price, I expected more in those categories.

Great food and service. The ambience is pretty nice as well. We had vegetarian food.

We love this place. The food is absolutely wonderful after a day of hiking. We usually get their appetizer platter to share and find it gives us a taste of everything. We also ordered the flaming appetizer and it always delights my son.Staff is excellent and personable. Weve never had to wait long for food. Very warm atmosphere.

Service was fast and drinks were really good! My boyfriends food was amazing but my chicken was really dry, considering how much we paid I had higher expectations.

This place was highly recommended by alot of locals. Tired of eating the reg western fries and burgers. We settled for something more fullfilling on the pricey side. Love the atmosphere, very welcoming inside. Our expectations were met. Service was amazing Luke was very helpful and knowledgeable. Service is 11/10. Food was good and delicious. We had the Lamb Shank it was good and had the pork chops. Would def go back and try more dishes cause everything we had was delicious.

Worst service ever! Rude and annoying server. They didn’t allow us to enter the same time and also did not provide us a table for 6, and even did not serve our food at the same time, but asked us for 18% service for 6 and also tip and offended us when we asked about the service’s fee. Lamb shank is so overrated and the price does not match the quality at all. Not recommend at all.

Lamb shank is cooked well, the texture is right on. Though I think the gravys a bit salty. The ultimate Greek feast is great, portion and quality-wise. Overall very good service and good vibe.

Great atmosphere! Highly recommend going for a Greek night on Thursdays with plate breaking and belly dancing. They make you feel very much at home.

Get the share platter, absolutely fantastic food. Great flavor and portion. 10/10 cant say enough good things.

Great service and very good food. Not cheap but still a good value. The grilled meat sampler plate for 2 was really good with salad and starters. The pasta with mussels was also very flavorful. The lamp shank was also very good. Maybe make a reservation if you go with a large group.

Ok food, and a bit pricey. The halloumi bowl was good, but was lukewarm and rubbery. The pita for the falafel wrap was tasty, but the falafel could use some work. Our server was friendly and service was fast.

The Warm Halloumi Salad was fantastic! The Chicken Souvlaki Wrap was a bit on the burned side for my taste but the whole meal was great. Especially the potatoe wedges. Great service and environment. 4 starts because of the price otherwise everything else was great.

Ordered the lamb shank, cause apparently its their popular dish. I ordered it with high expectations.Dish arrived, and bite after bite. Things were going down hill.Rice was undercooked! The green beans were undercooked(super crunchy like it was just dipped in butter+lemon flavor for two second and severed and thats all!and the lamb shank itself was pretty mediocre.Honestly, I dont understand why people hype that dish lot. Its super average for the requested price!!But their Greek fried fries was actually very good and the starter palate that everyone can share is highly recommended it. If I go back, Ill just order that.

Oh my goodness, where do I start! My partner surprised me for my birthday with a visit to Banff and to Balkan restaurant. We had the saganaki and calamari for appetizers and they were ABSOLUTELY delicious. I’ve never had saganaki before and it really blew my mind with its richness. The calamari was the best I’ve ever had. While the chicken souvlaki was just ok, the medium rare lamb chops we had were EXCEPTIONAL. I will be dreaming about those lamb chops with red wine (garnacha, spainfor a while. Thank you to our server Sarah for amazing service and helping to create a wonderful experience!

So much for this bowl having a little bit of everything. 🤷. Tasteless dressing. Wilty cucumbers. Totally waste of money. The other plate. Tasteless. Cold dry rice. Beans no flavour. Dry donair. Odd as was suppose to include lamb. Worst. Waitress Argued saying rice was good. Please save your $100 and stay away

Great food, fantastic service, nice atmosphere. Food had a well seasoned far out to it the lemon potatoes were exceptionally tasty. Our server was extremely professional and attentive one of the best servers I’ve had in Banff, I forget his name unfortunately. Food was great portion and reasonably priced. The night we went there was a belly dancer which was a little awkward but adds to the experience. Would highly recommend this place and will be back again in the future.

We’ve been here many times before and we’re shocked at the decline in quality. Not only has the menu selection decreased considerably, but the food quality has too. The appetizer was cold in the middle and way too small, might as well get the spanakopita from Costco. The chicken in the wrap was dry and charred way too much, leaving a bad aftertaste. It was also under salted. The vegetables were undercooked and under-salted. For this quality, the price is unreasonable. Currently waiting for a chicken burger at McDonalds to fill me up. Wish it could go back to the old standard of quality. The staff are nice tho.

Was not sure what expect when coming to this establishment, but I was blown away! Great atmosphere, music and great service. We ordered the Ultimate Greek feast which comes with the pita, hummus and something that seems like feta with chili flakes, also comes with Greek salad. They tasted amazing. Next you get the platter of meats, veggies and rice. The lamb with a bit of lemon tasted so good, cooked perfectly to my liking. The chicken skewer and sausage tasted great paired up with the sauce. The rice, potatoes and carrots were super tasty, or all flowed nicely together. There is something else that comes on the platter but dont know the name, a little flaky item seems like it was stuffed and tasted great as well. The feast is meant for two people, comes to $80, but can make it bigger if you are with more people. Overall, I highly recommend this place with great tasting food!

Delicious food and friendly staff. We had the Pikilia Starter Platter and there were enough portions for 2 to 3 people. You definitely dont need any main course after this one for sure. We have Baklava for dessert and that was really good. The restaurant needs some upgrades especially the tables and chairs. The chairs were quite uncomfortable. Overall good restaurant and delicious food. We will definitely be back again.

We had ARNI PSITO(the slow-roasted lamb shankand ATHENIAN CHICKEN (the chicken stuffed with spinachboth foods were great. Perfectly cooked and the taste was very good. Sides such a carrots, backed potatoes and spinach rice was perfect! The lamb shank comes with a very delicious gravy!Staff are very polite, professional and helpful. Will visit again and highly recommend!

Stopped here on our way to our other evening reservations and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was absolutely epic and our cocktails were shaken to perfection. Our food was prepared perfectly, and ultimately, it was a great experience. We will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended!
