Sunshine Canyon Dr, Boulder, CO 80302, United States, Boulder
The Great Plains & the Continental Divide are visible after a short hike to this 7,000-ft. peak.
Found the area just wasting time around beautiful Bolder, Co. Quiet with fantatic views! Wish we had time to explore but will hope to get back someday!
Beautiful trail with some early picnic benches.
Great hike!! Beautiful views and fantastic drive!!
Cool hiking loop with lots of butterflies. Not terribly long or challenging. We did it with a two year old walking 75% of the time and an 18 month old walking 50% of the time. There only a few shady spots on the hike. Luckily, theres a big one around the summit. Make sure everyone has sunscreen and water.I prefer steeper ascents than descents. If youre like me, I recommend taking the summit trail up and then the loop back.
Its a short mile-ish loop that lets you summit a 7400 mountain top. Once on top youll find some great views of Sugarloaf mountain, Bald mountain and other neighboring mountains. Its nothing strenuous to get to the top but when I went, there was still some snow on parts on the trail. A couple benches are there to sit and admire the views. Probably great for families with little ones that cant hike to far but want to summit a mountain.
Love this hike! Its beautiful, non congested and a easy hike for a quick workout!
Great views out of the gate. Nice hike with small kids. Short and to the point.
Short, but beautiful hike. Does go by the road for a little bit otherwise nice hike.
Great spot for scenic views, wildflowers and an easy hike for those not acclimated to the elevation.
Very easy hike to a great view of the nearby valleys and peaks. Also offers a view of South Boulder, but its not nearly as impressive as the landscape is at sunset.
Nice quick hike up the mountain. Nice views but quite limited workout. Have benches along the trail in different spots to sit and enjoy the views. There is parking for about 15 cars. It takes longer to drive up from Boulder downtown than the trail itself.
Short trail but scenic towards the peak. Great to do a quick hike and relax under the shade especially if you’re not able to do hard hikes or have small children.
Very easy location to get to. Amazing view of the eastern horizon including Denver. Slight incline but nothing challenging.
Nice hike for beginners, there is some uphill though, but the path is great. Its near a road so dont worry about getting lost. Took maybe half an hour to do the loop without stopping, very pretty though. Good place for a picnic.
Really nice place to take a quick hike and get in some great views! The whole trail is about a mile long so just right if you’re looking for something beginner-friendly.
Nice, quick loop. About a mile or less. Has some really scenic vistas along the short trail. The summit is beautiful too. There are a few benches along the way and at the top. Fantastic lunch spot!
Good views. Great hike for young kids.
Really great hike to the top of a mountain. 360 views of all the surrounding mountains and valleys. Theres a gradual trail and a summit trail that takes you straight to the top where theres a bench to relax.
Nice little spot with a beautiful view of the mountains and a one mile hike!
The information on here is incorrect regarding mileage - its 1 mile, not 2. I came here on a weekday evening around 7PM and when we arrived, we were the only car, but when we left, there were a few more cars around. The walk up was pleasant and there were some mountain views, and the walk down was fine. There were some picnic tables too which are good to hang out at, and its not a bad spot to watch the sunset! Short and sweet trail.
I loved it! So beautiful at the summit. It was a gorgeous hike and a beautiful day. I will be back. ❤😉😘😍
One of the last few spots close to Boulder that doesnt get overrun by crowds.
Beautiful short (less than a half milehike to an great overlook. Trail is in good condition, views are stellar in all directions.
Lovely short hike, only about a ten to fifteen minute drive from downtown Boulder. A little slippery due to leftover snow but easily maneuvered around. Nice spot for a picnic. Many benches along the trails. Terrific views.
This is by far the shortest easiest loop hike in the Boulder area that still affords a commanding 360 grieve you. I recommend this one for all families. Young children small dogs this is the perfect hike
Great easy hike with beautiful views. I would highly recommend for anytime with small children. Our kids are 3 and 5 and it was a perfect fit for them.
Great spot for an evening picnic, just outside of Boulder. There are several wheelchair accessible picnic tables near the trailhead. There is a great view from the top of bald mountain out across the plains with a view of Denver. The hike to the top is an easy mile if you do the full loop or a half mile if you take the summit trail to the top and back.
Great short hike surrounded by mountains! Picnic tables in the area as well as a porta potty.
Short hike... amazing views. The dogs loved it!
Excellent spot for hiking and taking in some scenic views. 20 minutes outside of Boulder this picturesque spot afford some easy uphill trails that loop back to a modest parking area complete with a port-o-potty and picnic tables. Kids can complete the trails without too much worry. Benches are placed throughout the trails for a rest break.
As always this was going to an epic view in the minds eye albeit nothing can compare with seeing this panoramic view. Visited as had a kindred with the name.... great name mighty views
Short and sweet hike with great views of the Front Range.
Great place for an easy hike with decent views.
I hiked this trail with my husband and 18month old while I was 7months pregnant. Not super easy but definitely doable. Very beautiful and we only saw a few other people on the trail. I would definitely recommend for someone who doesn’t want anything too strenuous.
Always a gorgeous place to stop. Sunsets from here are absolutely amazing!
nice short hike to top... well maintained portapotty in parking area...4 picnic tables and great view.
Easy quick hike! Great to get away from Boulder crowds
Loved this place! ! Well marked out trails. Very clean parking lot. Spectacular views.
Awesome place to hike with breath taking views. Absolutely beautiful!
Very rewarding but not too strenuous loop hike, a bit over a mile.
Very enjoyable little loop walk after breakfast in Boulder on the way to Estes Park.
Got to take a hike here during my time in Boulder, Colorado. The place seemed busy when I went to park but as I got higher in altitude on the trail it turned into my own little world. This area offers exceptional views of the Rockies and a glimpse of the continental divide. This area is above the tree line for the most part so be careful if your not used to high attitude like I am. I experienced minor altitude sickness when I got to the top. It didnt stop me from soaking in the bliss though.
Really just a pull off along Sunrise Canyon Rd, but the view is incredible. There are probably hiking trails, but the road is dirt at that point and its no country for crippled old men.
One of my favorite places around Boulder, never crowded and great scenery, parking and restroom on site.
Great little park with amazing views. There are plenty of picnic spots and quite a bit of parking for a park with one hiking trail. I love the drive up to the park with all its twists and turns.
Perfect place to hike with kids, its not much more than a mile and has a restroom, plus plenty of places to sit and have a snack or take in the view.
Super easy hike, went before a snow storm and the wind was incredible at the top.
This is a very short hike < 1hr but has splendid views of the front range! Theres a small bench at the top of the trail loop such is very peaceful. Its a little bit of a drive to get here but its a nice short hike.
One of my favorite short hikes in the Boulder area. The hike is only about a mile but has some breathtaking views. There are also really nice picnic benches, it would be a great place to relax with a book.
Great easy hike for someone wanting a less crowded trail. It does get packed with snow and slightly icy so bring cleats if you plan on going in the late winter. After snowfall, this area is beautiful though, tough to get a picture of a hillside without houses but its picturesque and great for a picnic.
