Bakchich Cafe - Restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
We had an excellent beef tajine and chicken tajine with a wonderful smoothie to go with it. Both were delicious and at a very good price (beware that you can only pay with cash). Highly recommended!
We went to the restaurant by „mistake“ as it wasn’t shown in Google maps - the only traditional Moroccan place that showed up directly was the pink restaurant Gazelle next door. We had a vegetable chicken and beef tajine and an avocado fruit smoothie. All meals were very tasty. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, too.
Great café in the centre of Marakesh. Nice sandwiches, paninis and juice drinks for a reasonable price. It has a nice Latin-American atmosphere and its a great place to relax while getting some shelter from the sun. Recommended.
Very good Moroccan food and warm service!
Super nice staff, interior and delicious food with fair prices - had great talkes with the waiters while waiting for my take away tajine - can highly recommend :)
As a vegan, I find it super easy to find vegan or vegetarian meals in Marrakech, you really dont need to find a specific restaurant and pay a high price.Of course there are some restaurants out there providing vegan or vegetarian meals with lower price, but I would say the pricing at Bakchich Cafe is quite fair. 45Dh for a Tajine and 50Dh for a Coucous. The portion is quite fulfilling, and the tastes are on point. They also provide us pita breads and olives as appetizers. This restaurant is worthy for a go.
We had 2 meals here, a lunch and dinner. They have the same menu for both meals. We had the Chicken Tajine both times, the Couscous, the Beef Tajine, the Kefta Panini and fries. The Chicken Tajine was the best Chicken Tajine we had and the Kefta Panini was amazing! So good we ordered another straight after. We enjoyed the food here and the customer service was also good. The pricing was pretty cheap as well. We’d eat back here again if we were ever back in Marrakech.
The location is amazing but the food was disappointing. I ate a vegetarian Tajin, and it tasted boring, no herbs, no spices and that in a spice country like Marroco. The only good thing about this fish is, that you have a big variety of vegetables: potatoes, pees, eggplant, carrots and more.I ate other vegetarian Tajins, and they tasted amazing, full of spices. So I know, this one was just not good. Also the price is not good, 45 DHM for this Tajin. You can get better ones, for less money. No recommendation from me.
Tajine Beef - meat was dry. Generally it was the worst Tajine I tried here. The service is not interested in you at all. It is much better to go to Gazelles just next door, food is much better and prices are just a bit higher.
Amazing little restaurant with delicious food and free WiFi.
If you want to have local moroccan dish for a good price, I recommend this place. Staff was nice and interior was so cute!
Great place for a snack or for a entire meal. You have both options. The food is good and not expensive. The ambient is a little different from the other restaurants, more international. Very friendly staff, always ready to make you feel comfortable.
Small cafe with decent, reasonably-priced food. Staff are incredibly attentive and genuinely nice. Had beef tajine with prunes, meat was tender!
Nice food at very reasonable prices. A must visit if you enjoy good food A+
Very nice place, amazing food, very tasty and filling!!
This was my favourite place to eat whilst visiting marrakech! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Its such a quirky little place that is affordable and had great music. It was just a shame that I found it on my last night so couldnt go back to re-visit. I would definitely go back if I visit Marrakech again!
2 times there, 2 times amazing food.Love this place. The tajine is delicious. The atmosphere is creative and very unique.Good place for a lunch.
If you need food urgently, its not that bad an option. Its clean and cooked food which is not super expensive. So you will be able to fill yourself. But if you are looking for a quality meal, this restaurant offers lower than mediocre food.Their "traditional" chicken with lemon tajine was mostly tasteless. Moreover, it came with almost no vegetables (not counting olives). The chicken was overcooked (too dry). We also ordered a kefte panini and had a very similar experience - too dry, not enough flavours as we found in kefte in other restaurants and regions of Morocco.
Fun people and great food at amazing prices
Decent place just off the Jemaa with better prices than the square. Chicken & veg tagine was very good, as was meatballs. Bread felt a bit stale. Yoghurt with fruits for dessert was ace (but very sweet!Food was a tad slow to arrive but nothing terribly bad. Service wasnt the most attentive but youre not there for that, more the value food.
Good simple food for a very moderate price. Food is definitively cheaper than in the main square. We paid about 180 MAD for two.
This is a great spot for dinner and rely close to the Insanity on the square or is a sister restaurant to the BlackChich and not quite as good but the food is more traditional morrocan and very tasty. The tajines are great.
Disgusting. They served us bread with worms and larvae for dinner, meaning that their hygienic conditions are below the minimum standards. They didnt even apologize for that or make a discount.Avoid this place like plague.
Really interesting decoration and friendly staff. Reasonable prices and lively atmosphere. Food just ok
I really love this place. Small but ecclectic, great music and cool vibe. Food is very good and good value for money...
we had beef sandwich, chicken tangine and avocado salad. The saland and tangine was the two best servings. It is like a street kitchen were you can sit in. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is more busy with each other than the guest..but they are not further away than you can reach them for refills....
Nice place, good prices. Tradition chicken tajine with lemon and olives was good, strong spicy taste, but chicken with vegetable tajine was quite without taste. Service was fairly quick, but we were waiting long time for payment.
We ate here by "mistake", as we were looking for another restaurant with a very similar name (BlackChic Caféin the same road.It is small, crowded, colorful, informal, managed by young guys.Good dishes of Moroccan cuisine (specialities are tajine, I recommend the Kefta, and cous-cousand cheap prices. Moreover, you are just a few steps from Jemaa El Fna.Onestly, you cant ask for more in terms of value-for-money
Nice little cafe away from the hustle of the main square. The ambiance is calm despite the colourful decor. We were recommended this cafe by our Riad owners. We ordered a tagine, chicken couscous and an omelette. Drinks wise we had water, kiwi juice and a coke. They don’t serve alcohol. The service was prompt and the food came out quickly. We were served a bowl of olives with our drinks. We enjoyed all the dishes although the chicken in the couscous was a bit small.Good value for money though at only 150MAD.Would come back if we were in the area but wouldn’t go out of the way to return. Would recommend for a quick, cheap, pleasant lunch or dinner.
Cheap and good restaurants for get some traditional foods.
This is one of the cheaper tajine places in this area and it came in the typical clay pot. Chicken was a little small compared to other places but price (45dhrwas good compared to 70,80 elsewhere. The service isn’t great like other reviews mentioned but just don’t go in with that attitude :). Make sure to get a seat that can people watch! Good viewing here.
Since a lot of people mentioned their chicken taijine we ordered one. One word disappointed. Not the best nor the worst. The taste is plain and chicken is a bit over cooked. Other than that, the restaurant is cute and staff are friendly.
I felt disappointed with the food and service. Nobody bothered to pass the menu until i had to take it myself and even went to the counter to order myself. Hot chocolate was great but chicken sandwich was tasteless. Probably their moroccan food is better? Hopefully..
Nice place, felt really relaxed sitting in this cute cafe despite being really close to the square and souks. Nice guys running it. Had the chicken and veg tagine, was very nice, good size and 55 dh so not much more than eating in the square. I would go back.
Delicious tajines - I had the chicken and veg and my partner had the chicken. So good! Best meal we have had in Medina. Highly recommended.
Service was so good, those young boys are a good laugh, tarjines were bloody amazing had the best flavors! really fulling and cheap! really enjoyed my time there! toilet needs a make over though!
Seemed okay as nice atmosphere and busy, food was average but the next day we all got possibly the worst food poisoning weve had in a long time which ruined our trip to Marrakesh. Food came really quick so was probably sitting around / badly reheated.
Funky cheap little restaurant with seating on the street that you can people watch.
Reasonably priced, safe cafe, popular with tourists. Juices are good here. We came twice though and found the food very inconsistent (tasted a bit off the second time round).
Good food. Good prices. Great service! Really fun ambiance. I highly recommend. Comfortable for a solo female.
Local near Jamaa El Fna square. Good prices and delicious marroquine meals. We recommend the Traditional Tajin (chicken, lemon and olivesand the Chicken Tajin (chicken and nuts). Its marroquine desserts makes a perfect mix with green tea.Added value, we got the opportunity to watch a Barça match in Catalan.
By far the most delicious tagine (beefof my Marrakech holiday. Our couscous and salads were great too and our waiter Jamal was really friendly and helpful with recommendations for our trip. Would definitely recommend this lovely little restaurant.
Meals were very tasty and professionally presented, though if you are really hungry, you might need more than just a tagine to fill you up. No 3 course menu deal offered.
Lovely decor & relaxed vibe. Food is rather average, but its a nice place to sit and enjoy a glass of juice or mint tea after shopping at Marrakesh souks.
An affordable eat with modern, rustic interiors. It caters for young international tourists, and provides affordable traditional fare.
Good and affordable restaurant, advised by lonely planet, where you definitely get value for money. We had an salad as starter and a tajine for main. As usual served with a bread and some olives from the house makes this meal a big eater happy.
Amazing styling, eat well and enjoy the place
Beautiful well priced food and friendly staff. We became regulars on our second visit! Traditional Morrocan food, fresh salads, caters well for vegetarians but the Traditional Tagine - chicken leg, garlic and olives is to die for.
We found this place by accident the first day. From the first impression we found it really nice, but we were expecting the quality of the food as all the touristic places in town… we were wrong, the prices are great and the atmosphere even better. After our first time we have been there every day, the staff is really friendly and the food really tasty and fresh. In conclusion, we would to recommend to all of you if you go there to try the awesome avocado smoothie with dried fruits! We had it everyday and we will remember it forever. Thanks Backchick for have being part of our beautiful experience in Marrakech, we will come back to you.Diletta and Vera (Italy-Germany living in the Netherlands)
Recommended by our Riad staff this was a great choice. Slightly off the square it isnt quite so manic. Food was excellent. Beef Tagine with onions was delicious. And at 50 dh it was good value. Staff were friendly and spoke good a English. Worth a try.
