When you are strapped for time and still want to get the essence of the whole Sultanate of Oman, this highly curated Bait Al Zubair museum offers you just the right avenue to experience it all. There is so much to see and soak in, so make some good amount of time and you are sure to be transported like in a time machine and you will most certainly leave with a glowing smile on your face. 5 ***** stars...!
To make it short: If you come to visit Oman, this place ist a must-go, espacially when youre not familiar with the omani culture. And other countrys should have a counterpart to this. For those who want a full resume: this museum gives probably one of the best impressions of a culture you are able to get from a single place. It ranges from traditional clothing and weaponry, to architecture and even art from today, all of this is enough resembled, that you get a feeling for ist. Because the museum is not a big deal in terms of its size, but if youd like to you could spend hours in it learning more about the omani culture. In all Id say that in terms of representing a culture it is better than close to every other museum on the planet right now, which I am serious about, and very experienced too.If youre still reading this are planning to visit Oman, then just go there, itll help you to understand this culture more than a guide could ever do.
Very beautiful place and tells a lot about the history of Oman, many interesting facts and photos
Liked the ambiance of the place. Ground floor is dedicated to history of oman..infact i realised there is so much common with some parts of India.First floor is for coin and stamp collectors. Roof design is very nice.Must try the saffron cake at coffee shop

Bait Al-Zubair is a private museum located in old Muscat city and contains relics from Oman’s military, social, and cultural past. It opened its doors to the public in 1998 and is founded and funded by the Zubair family. From the gift shop, you can choose from a hand-picked selection of handicrafts, books, postcards, jewellery, clothing, and much more. Head to the garden to see the barasti (traditional hut made of palm fronds), frankincense trees, and local herbs. There is also a model of a traditional Omani village which shows the Aflaj irrigation system used in Oman.

Superb museum that details Omans culture and traditions
Very impressive for a private museum and totally in tune with Omans humble, simple way of life. Personally Im not really an art lover so I always skipped this and only visited it towards the end but I did enjoy all the collections on display especially the photography exhibition of Syria. In some areas pictures are not allowed but theres plenty of other stuff in there that doesnt mind a camera click at all.Unlike many museums and govt buildings in Muscat that close around 2pm, this being a private remains open till 6pm which is a very good thing because that means its never crowded.
If somebody wants to konw about Oman and Omani culture & Royal family as well so this I the best museum .
Excellent museum giving great insight into Oman.
Fascinating museum, telling the story of Oman
Nice museum that has some history and exhibition of Oman’s local life, worth a visit. No photos inside

Nice place for celebrations and museum visit
Small and nice place... rich hostory about Oman.. their currencies... highness and more.
This is a small cultural museum named after the gentleman who set it up. It is mainly wheelchair accessible, ask to go the opposite way so start at the exit and end in the reception. Then wheel back to the exit. There is a cafe on site. There are a set of toilets as well. There are good displays on traditional dress, firearms, stamps, coins and household wear. There is also a large art gallery on site which has temporary exhibitions. This is not the most obvious spot. So dont miss it!There is a large gift shop. There is free parking nearby. This is perfect to get away from the midday sun.
Wonderful museum. Dont miss this in Dubai. Best features were the traditional house and underwater pearl divers. Very innovative display.
Interesting museum, nice shop, it deserves a visit
Traditional palace and halls , if your are interested in heritage and ancient cultures of the Sultanate of Oman then you can spend one hour or more inside and see some antiques , national costumes of Omanis men and women , maps and take a rest meanwhile enjoying 😉 your coffee ☕️ and 🥞 or brownie 🍪 in the cafe right there .My visit 📆 was on October 2018 .
It was a wonderful experience visiting the place. I spent a couple of hours here looking at the artifacts on display and reading about them. It was a great insight to the Omani hostory, culture and heritage. And at 2.5 OMR head its totally worth the money. I dont have any pictures from inside the museum as photography is not allowed here. Itsvisit for anyone who visits Muscat.
Fantastic display of the heritage of the Sultanate. Old utensils, riffles, the things used by men and women are arranged in a neat manner. The display in a massive area gives a glance of the culture and usage of the things. The private musuem maintained in a well manner and have all the facilities of a cafeteria, restrooms and open space with seating arrangements. The experience in the museum was amazing. A holiday spent usefully in the museum. The wide range of painting collection stealed the show.
Very nice and interesting museum about omanite traditions
Beautiful place lot of cultural things to watch.
Nice place to visit as I spent a weekend in Oman. Has the historic features and is close by to the souk and other touristy parts of muscat. Very close to the water too. The national museum and the palace is only a short walk away too do you can enjoy a good few hours at this location. Very clean and beautiful. Definitely worth a cost when you spend the weekend in the city or country. Very cheap to get in too.
If you are a history lover (or not :P), then this is one of the must visit places to learn everything about the History of Oman. It has very very interesting information and stunning artifacts on display. The entry fee is 2 riyals per person and no photography is allowed inside the museum or food. One can approximately spend an hour or two at this place also enjoying the extra social and cultural activities that is organised here and the staff here are very very friendly.
Very interesting place. The only problem that its not allowed to take pictures of old weapons collection.
