Nice place to visit and enjoy old baghdad traditions
Beautiful place. Both as a folklore museum and the architecture of the building. Highly recommended. Only issue is the location. If you are going there on a weekday, the area is a busy hectic wholesale market.
If you want to go back in time and see how the “Baghdadis”used to live in that era I recommend you to visit Baghdadi Museum .. everything written in Arabic and English and you can feel the status are real!!
The Baghdadi Museum of Folklore contains most of the life features of the early inhabitants of Baghdad. The Baghdadi Museum was opened in the early 1970s in its current location on the banks of the Tigris River near the Mustansiriya School building. The Al-Baghdadi Museum building is one of the old buildings in Baghdad, as its construction dates back to 1869 AD during the era of the Ottoman Empire. It was first used as a printing press for the state of Baghdad during the rule of the governorMedhat Pasha. The Baghdadi Museum documents a period of time in the history of Baghdad, conveys minute details of the lives of the Baghdadis, and sheds light on the Baghdadi heritage and the traditional lifestyle of ancient Baghdad. It restores the simplicity, cohesion and social richness of life through realistic scenes that embody the shape, movement and colors created by Iraqi artists who made statues of characters in a language related to the folklore and heritage of the old Baghdadi society. The idea of establishing the museum goes back to the former Mayor of Baghdad, Mr. Medhat Al-Haj Sari, after he returned from his visit to one of the neighboring countries, with an idea he was determined to implement, which is the establishment of a popular museum in Baghdad. On this basis, the Baghdad Municipality initiated in 1968 the establishment of the Baghdadi Museum. Where a team was assigned to make a group of statues spread over 45 scenes, representing the professions and handicrafts of Baghdadis. After all the works were completed, the Baghdadi Museum was opened on January 1, 1970 AD, in its current location on the banks of the Tigris River near the Al-Mustansiriya School building. In 1985, a major maintenance and development process took place in all parts of the museum, and it was related to the construction work and the establishment of Al-Baghdadi Alley, which included 39 new scenes and spread among them one hundred and seven figures that did not exist previously. In 1989, a new facility was created in the museum, which gave it a more popular identity, after the Baghdadi market and the Baghdadi restaurant were built inside it, in addition to preparing a hall suitable for holding concerts, music and the Iraqi maqam. The museum was subjected to significant damage and closed its doors after the American invasion of Iraq in 2003, then it was restored and officially opened on August 8, 2008.
a great museum 👌🏻
It was closed on February 15, 2022 at the day time and official time.
Beautiful museum, situated in the historic part of Baghdad(old city), the museum shows Baghdad culture and heritage and how the life was in Baghdad, the entry fee is 1000 IQD(approx.1$per person, i highly recommend visiting this to anyone visiting Baghdad.
nostalgic and cozy, just needs more maintenance
Not bad, it should be preserved
Great place for those who seek the knowledge of the Baghdadi people life style before the modern life takes place. So many stories behind those events seen in the museum. The only negative part is there is an over use of the dummies instead of the real sculptures. This place can turn into a fortune.
The most wonderful place that I want to visit sense I was little
Nice!
It was a great time and best place to gather all people 😍😍
Wonderful experience for a family
Usual folklore museum. Little bit about Baghdad local history. There should be more about history and with more system. We were the only two visitors and locked inside the museum long before closure time. We found a exit over backyard.
Good place to see how old Baghdadi people lived
One of the historical museums, it gives you an idea about life in old Baghdad and professions in it.It contains a lot of statues to mimic the lifestyle of last century. Its location is not hard to find and you can park your car in nearby parking building. No nearby high class restaurants. But you can take a good tour in old markets. If you are planning to do a historical tour, then I prefer to take public transportation or taxis.Do not forget to visit mutanabis street and try grapes juice from "zibala".
Beautiful museum representative of Iraqi people in Iraq and around the world. It reminds you of why you are proud to come from such a beautiful country like no other.
The Baghdadi Museum documents a period of Baghdads history, details the lives of Baghdadi, and sheds light on Baghdadis heritage and the traditional lifestyle of old Baghdad. It regains the simplicity, cohesion and social richness of life through realistic scenes embodying the shape, movement and colors created by Iraqi artists who made the statues of characters in a language related to the folklore and heritage of ancient Baghdadi society.
Great place to visit and discover old baghdad way of living. Very interesting
Beautiful a place
If you want to know more about the Iraqi history, you have to visit this museum
Good place to remember our beautiful past day life
A place worth to visit despite the location which was quite depressing ....caotic streets in a commercial part of the city full of waste and traffic and pavements completely lacking any sort of order. The museum was poorly airconditioned.
Very nice but needs maintenance and playing the audio chat just as the old days
Nice place with very unique monuments must see
Show you how the Baghdadyan lived beforeReally traditional placeYou can listen to the AL CHALGY AL BAGHDADY witch is also traditional kind of Iraqi songs
I travelled through time to see the golden era of old Baghdad when the poor people were living humbly with peace of mind, then i visited an Iraqi traditional coffee shop i heard to a famous classic Baghdadi song "Yaghahetak Azawi "... and I am Azawi so i was so excited.
Large, live, wax, agriculture, traditional Iraqi flavor
Great page of iraqi history
The National Museum of Iraq (المتحف العراقيis a museum located in Baghdad, Iraq. Also known as the Iraq Museum, it contains precious relics from the Mesopotamian, Babylonian and Persian civilization. It was looted during and after the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. Despite international efforts, only some of the stolen artifacts were returned. After being closed for many years while being refurbished, and rarely open for public viewing, the museum is reopened

Amazing!!!
Good musuem and one of the best available musuem in Baghdad, its all about the traditional of Baghdad peoples life and the culture of city. The museum operation hours from 10-2 pm during during the week except Tuesday and Saturday where the museum is closed, unlike the operation hours where is wrongly advertised in the official site so make sure to arrive at least 12:30 pm to be able to see the entire museum.
Very beautiful unfortunately need to maintain
Represent the old culture and people in Baghdad. Nice experience that you can spend a couple of hours enjoying it , finish it with a tour in the river.
So much room for improvement. English translation on signs is very poor. Toilets are in very bad state. Could benefit from a nice gift shop.
great place showcasing baghdad old culture and customs.
A wax museum that gives visiters an idea of what life was like in baghdad back when the city was still young and growing. Seeing the displays you get the feeling that modern day baghdad has taken so much from its past. Definantly a Worth while place to visit.
It was a good experience, the place felt so vantage. It would be better if they put on more details and a guide.
You can come here to see the life of old Bsghdadi people simple and amazing
Its good to see it open... but requires development. Please include signage... or is it to much to ask for from the government.
I love this place so much .. its so great place to visit in baghdad to know the culture of the iraq and have a great experience
a museum tells the story of baghdad 150-200 years ago

Recommended for foreign visitors to have look at the Iraqi ancient life, and how was the life before comparison with these days. There are statues for different leading figures.
