Easygoing, dog-friendly eatery with a garden patio offers deli-style American fare & desserts.
Nicest place ever. Nicest people. Sandwich were omg! Everybody should go!
Having DAVES Birthday Lunch at Backstreet!! Always so delicious. It was really nice in cool sitting inside the Devereaux room ππ Great service too. Love this place
The sandwiches are pretty good but lets be honest a cold beer or mimosa on their patio is why you go there. Only real disappointment is they close so early and arent open later on saturday and sunday.
Try the pastrami/roast beef sandwich ππ½ππ½π₯π₯π₯
They put butter and mayo on your sandwich and thats it. I personally loved it but you may want some lettuce and other stuff. They do have a bar w pasta salad and pickled veggies you can help yourself to. The outside area was the prettiest Ive seen.
I came here once with the old owners with a group of people. The old owner had a conversation with one person at my table but basically ignored the rest of us. I saw in an article that it was bought by someone else. Decided to wait a while to go back. Went on a Friday night since I heard they were serving pulled pork sandwiches. New owners were there mingling with everyone. The pulled pork was really good but the bbq sauce is what made it. Iβm liking the direction the new owners are taking. Canβt say for sure when Iβll be back but Iβm glad I gave it a second chance.
Had lunch there on july 27 th. Parked in front of the yellow house with big mister. When we came out our new black truck hood and windshield was covered white with minerals from the mister. After spending alot of money it wont come off. Talked to the manager. He was unpleasant and offered no help. If you want your paint ruined eat there. We will never be back. They will be sued by someone I am sure.
Very cool place. Great sandwiches
My new fav sandwich shop. Today was bustling with hungry people. The hefty sandwiches are filled with meat , sided with coleslaw, potatoe salad( wich is amazingly deliciousor chips. The pies, cheesecake are made with love, i know i can taste it. π the portions are shareable because they are hefty. The workers buzzed like bees checking on patrons to assist with refills, silverware, or boxes. The new owners have breathed new life into a local favorite place, Still great food but more amenities. Try every sandwich on menu, try every dessert , Try every pickle, unless your allergic. π€¦. Bring a friend on Friday for courtyard live entertainment 5- 9 and have a beverage or two π
I went here on a Friday afternoon for dinner when they had live music. The ambience was great, and even though the weather was hot out, the restaurant temperature was cool because of all the shade and misters. My sandwich tasted fresh, and I got the Shark Attack drink as well (super cute!). The only thing I would recommend is having the order area a bit cooler, that room was quite hot and crowded. For dessert I had the raspberry cheesecake, and OMG I am not lying when I say that was the best piece of cheesecake I have ever had, I would come back just for that honestly. Its a nice place, and the live music was the perfect touch to a relaxing environment, highly recommended
Came here with my girlfriend and dog on a Friday night. Smoked pulled pork sandwich was great. The environment and atmosphere was fantastic!
Such a cool experience let me just say the staff were awesome and soooo nice!! The food was so fresh and the quality was outstanding! I will definitely come back!!
Great homemade sandwiches and salads probably no better sandwiches in Riverside County.
Relaxing atmosphere with refills. You walk up to order at the counter and take your food to a table. The waitresses brought the dessert and refilIed drinks. The garden and yard art are refreshing even on a hot day.. The French dip was tasty. I have only suggestion...they should include soups on the menu. The world needs a casual place to get great soup.
Great patio dining and so much meat on the sandwich!! Excellent ambiance and friendly staff too!
Had a pastrami sandwich, my wife had a French dip sandwich. Both sandwiches had alot of fat on the meat and both sandwiches were very dry and lacked flavor. I have been going to Backstreet for many years and was surprised at the substandard quality. The one saving grace was the live guitar music played by a 82 year old Vietnam veteran. The melodious sounds were very soothing . I will go back again to see if my experience is more like I remember it, really hope so.
Love Backstreet! The sandwiches are delicious and includes a side dish and a trip to the deli bar. The outdoor patio is fabulous. You have to have the banana cream pie, even if you dont like bananas. Its to die for.π
Lovely little place with great community feel and ambiance. This was my wife and mines first time trying the place and while not totally displeased, probably wont be back. The prices are pretty high for what you get. Also, my wife and I wanted to share a sandwich for $13 bucks but they cut it in half and charged us each $9.95 for a half sandwich. The coleslaw portion was tasty but small. They then forgot to put our aujus (spon our plate and then charged me $2.50 for a small drink when all I wanted was water. Beer price reasonable ($6). Overall felt rushed by staff who seemed confused if you dint keep up with their pace or asked about charges. So in the end, $32 bucks after tip for a turkey and pastrami sandwich on a two slices of sourdough, a small coleslaw portion and a beer.
Love the sandwiches been coming here for years. My favorite is the pastrami but today I had turkey.
Pretty garden seating with fun garden art and a big beautiful tree! Sandwiches piled high with meat! The potato salad was very good! My friend and I shared the banana cream pie and it was Delicious!! Great place to sit, enjoy lunch and time with a friend!
Best sandwichβs in Town . Do they still have that Potato Salad ? Itβs the best
What can be said about a restaurant open for 3hrs a day, you know it must be good. Never has a single bad experience at this place and easily worth any wait.
$18 a sandwich but oh so worth it. The au jus was amazing so I dipped my turkey!
Unique, locally owned sandwich shop. Salads and sandwiches. Good selection of excellent breads. Generous portions of meat. Patio dining under big trees and umbrellas. My ham sandwich was very good. The kale salad was excellent. The potato salad average. The desserts are beyond wonderful. The banana cream pie is the best you will ever ear.
I like their potato salad, and my family liked their pastrami. I had the turkey meat and it was dry. Just a note, they do not have GF bread as an option, but do have some salad options.
Food was delicious and big portions. Pie was great.
Cool place to grab lunch. They have lots of seating on 2 large patios. Sandwiches are tasty and made with quality ingredients. Parking can be difficult, but well wirth a littke walk from nearby lots.
Thanks to Sean & Valarie for recommending Backstreet. WOW we were pleasantly impressed, our sandwiches were so good and fresh. Then we stuffed ourselves with the desserts. ( OUTSTANDING )We loved the way they have decorated the outside seating / patio area. We cant wait to return and bring family & friends.
Our favorite place for sandwiches. Super simple but the ingredients are absolutely fantastic. The pickles are good, and we love that they have things like pickled beets. Good potato salad and good beans. We ordered two corned beef and one turkey. Highly recommend them.
Backstreet is a hidden treasure with delicious sandwiches and a delightful ambiance. Since it opened I have enjoyed going and bringing friends and family. Parking is an issue, but worth walking. Since Covid-19 things are a bit off, and like every restaurant in town, staff is shorthanded, but Ill keep going. β€
This place is a great sandwich shop. They have sandwiches and salads and pie. I had the pastrami sandwich & potato salad. They are only open m-f from 11-3. It is a hole in the wall, family owned place that only the locals know about. All of their seating is outside, but they have plenty of umbrellas and awnings. Good to get there early to ensure a table.
Once again, SUPER great food and service. Their staff is always so friendly. Great ambiance eating outside under big shade trees. β€ this place!!!!
Beautiful place to sit for lunch break. Patio area is bigger than Id thought. I ordered pastrami and potato salad and enjoyed my sandwich under the shade. Food is delicious and they serve good portions. I only was able to finish half of my sandwich. Definitely recommend. I will be going back and go down the menu. π
It was a delicious lunch with a friend on Friday afternoon!!
Delightful lunch spot with charming decor.
I just loved the quaint outdoor seating and background music. Service was so friendly, food and condiment bar very tasty. First time here, but I will be back! Especially love that its a locally owned family business.
Love this place! I have been going since I was a kid and now I take my kids. Beautiful outdoor seating and very friendly staff. The pastrami sandwich cant be beat! A Riverside Gem!
Excellent service, and food. The banana cream pie is of the hook, soo good..yummy. someone took me last week, I brought my daughter Friday she also loved it, Im taking my spouse Monday. Best sandwiches everything us simple and fresh. Thank you for such good service, totally worth it.
Backstreet is always the best! I love how they have all the sides packaged up now. I dont get to town near enough to enjoy it. Much love to Keith, Kitty, and all. Sorry I missed seeing you.
Great little sandwich shop, hidden away, with a wonderful back patio covered in greenery, eclectic art, and just the right amount of patio misters!Simple sandwiches, made deli style with a fist sized pile of thin sliced meat. Its that place you know every old Riversidian whos-who has been to for the past 50 years. Service is always friendly and accommodating. Occasionally a touch of live music on the Stage and fresh made pies tempting you after every lunch. Wish they had local beer on tap, but the iced tea is brewed not concentrated, so Im happy. This place is family.
Great place to take your loved one(s)! Simple, awesome sandwiches and the baked beans are a must! The seating is outside where you feel right at home. And theres so many neat decorations that you always discover something new every time you go. Dont forget to get a slice of their famous banana cream pie!
The service was a 5/5 but the food sucks in my opinion. Mayo, bread and meat is all that is on a sandwich and I like mustard, lettuce tomato, peppers ext... Itβs also $13 per sandwich which is expensive. On a positive note the outdoor seating makes you feel like youβre somewhere else. I love the seating outside but I donβt think Iβll ever come here again. Too expensive and too plain of ingredients.
This was my first time here. The food is fresh and tastes great. The outdoor eating area is so cutely. There are fun planters & decorations that I now want to do at my house. Plus they have the house to eat in with the added bonus of a little book nook where you can trade books. I cant wait to come back with my other friends.
The sandwiches are excellent and the sides are plentiful and delicious! The setting is perfect for a Southern California lunch and the service was surprisingly fast and efficient. This place was packed the day we went and it is clearly a very popular meet up spot for friends, family and business associates. I will definitely visit again when Iβm in town and I would strongly encourage you to do the same. If you enjoy a good sandwich, potato or pasta salad, and lots of great veggies and other sides, you definitely need to try Backstreet!
This place is sort of hidden, its off of a quiet and not so well known street called Nelson. And the shop itself is somewhat tucked away and not easy to spot. But they have good food, nothing special, about their sandwiches, or at least I didnt get a "wow" factor from it. But their sandwiches arent bad either. So be sure to do your best to find it, its worth it in my opinion.Their menu is small, which makes ordering easy. You order your sandwich by choosing the meat type, then bread type, then cheese type, then your side choice. They also have a condiments/mini salad bar with extra options that can be additional sides depending on how you look at it. The sandwiches are a bit over priced, but the condiments/mini salad bar makes up for it, just be sure to go back for seconds to get your moneys worth. The place is cozy, and I believe thats what sells this place. Being tucked away and hidden makes it somewhat private and or secluded, which is what many people like, from what I hear.Their staff is nice and helpful. There are plenty of outdoor tables and chairs to sit at. Inside seating is limited.I recommend going on a nice sunny day, to get a good feel for what this place has to offer. Its all about their atmosphere here, come enjoy a nice cozy place with lots of random wall decor and plants to look at while you enjoy good tasting food.
This is a fantastic sandwich shop! Pricey, but you get what you pay for here. Easily able to feed 2 people with the shear size and meats packed on the sandwiches, they are freshly made and full of flavor. The little bar with the fresh veggies, pickles and pasta salad are a real plus too! Great lil place for sure!
One of my favorite lunch spots when my coworkers and I go out! The menu is simple but they keep everything fresh and delicious. My go to order is the house special which is pastrami and roast beef with cheese. They dont skimp out on the meat. The sandwich comes with a side and the salad bar is included. Service is friendly and efficient. They are only open during lunch on the weekdays though.
Historical landmark indeed was taken back by all the folk art but none the less came for the food and hands down food was great and prepared right in front of you the wait time less then 3 minutes I am highly impressed and will be back for seconds
The restaurant and staff were both excellent. The gentleman preparing the food seemed to go out of his way to make certain that my sandwich was made to my liking. It was delicious. I really do appreciate the personal attention received. The decor at this restaurant is unsurpassed, in other words, elegant without being pretensous. A great atmosphere.
A fantastic little sandwich shop somewhat hidden near downtown with a great unique outdoor eating area. The food is great with a hearty portion for a good price. The service from the staff is really friendly which makes you feel like youre right at home. They also have a nice dessert menu
