Back Porch Drafthouse in Temple

My experience was less than stellar. We were seated and only given one set of silverware. Our server took about 10 mins to come to our table to take drink orders. When we asked for an additional silverware they brought it over in a torn piece of napkin and a fork. It’s like they didn’t care. Then it was flies around. We didn’t stay long and ended up leaving disappointedThe nachos and frito pie was good that was the only good thing.I don’t feel like we were treated well and I’m not sure why.

Its aiight. Not a big drinker really yet the food is ok, sometimes a little inconsistent, of course understandably so. Having a turnover rate probably 10 times that of the national average. But hey! Roll the dice baby. Ya only live once.

Dont think most places deserve only a 1 star but our first date night and the food/ service was something youd expect from a 1 star review. We wanted to try something new and split a 24 hour sandwich and mushroom burger. To sum up the sandwhich quality by my wife, "The lettuce was good".The burger - "The mushrooms were good"

We have been waiting since 3 pm. for a table for 12 people and we are still waiting. Never come over here on Sunday. It is not busy at all. We were told 3 pm. and still waiting. Not good.

We go to Back Porch just about every weekend either on Saturday or Sunday around noon since they opened a few years ago. Over the last 3 months the food and service has gone downhill rapidly. Not busy when we go but wait upfront being ignored or told someone will seat us shortly over a 10-15 min. period before someone actually comes to seat us. Once seated, we wait another 10-15 min. before someone takes our drink order. Another 10-15 min. to get our drinks after having to ask for them again. Wait staff is always found talking or dancing in the back rather than attending to customers. Once food is ordered, we always just order the appetizers, its another 25-30min. wait only to be brought luke warm, overcooked food that is missing many of the original ingredients they used to have. Another 10min. wait for plates and silverware, making the barely warm food now cold. Manager is not available to speak to and if you call, every waitress or hostess that answers the phone is always the manager, I guess the manager changes daily, and then once told about the complaint just receive ok, ok, ok in response with no explanation for the decline or resolution or an apology. This place used to be amazing, not anymore. Save your time and money and just go somewhere else. We will be from now on.

I’ve sat here for almost an hour. Had to go to the bar to order a drink and food. A manager in training came by 45min into our visit. I could go on….but this is the most miserable experience I have ever had at any food facility of my life. Utterly and completely incompetent wait staff and management. The bartender has done a great job especially considering she has been completely overwhelmed by the totally incompetent wait staff. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody until massive MASSIVE changes come about. We sat down at 1218pm, nobody even talked to us until 1240pm. We went to the bar to order drinks at 1230pm. Give me a break, it’s a Saturday in a college town. Absolutely ridiculous.

The food was cold, dry and burnt. This was the first time, Hubby and I have been there. Food was good and the waitress never asked me if I wanted something else to drink. Other than that she was nice enough. The cooks need to be retrained.

Decent place to grab some pub grub. Food usually okay to real good (depending on day). Service is good as servers try (and are polite and friendlyand are good about fixing errors.

Im from Killeen. I stopped by after my VA appointment.First time ever going here. The atmosphere, wait staff and food was awesome. I will certainly be back.

Waited 20 min and stopped a waitress so someone would take our order. Waited another hour and fifteen minutes to get our meal. But on a good note they did pick up the check quickly.

I understand I went on a busy day. I went to this location on Fathers day this year. We waited to seat and were more than eager to wait for our food. The food I recieved was terrible. It was cold to lukewarm and too salty. Our waitress could of cared less about out table she was busy flirting with the other tables. All of the food that we recieved was not hot. After receiving a lackluster appetizers and Luke warm entres I asked to see a manager. Our waitress said they are busy and I can give you 20% off food that nor did anyone else at the table eat. The food was all in the verge of cold and not warm and when you waited over an hour to get you get disappointed. The manager never came and I still refused to pay for food I didnt eat.

*Can’t speak for the food.I’m a Longhorn Steakhouse regular and decided to venture off course to broaden my horizons.From the moment I walked in, I sensed that I was definitely “off course.”We walked in to find a gaggle of 10 waitresses gathered around the host stand. They mostly scattered in the moment but it seemed the bar to restaurant balance would definitely weigh more toward the happy hour and ball game crowd.Intrepid as we are, we stayed the “course” and were seated at a suitable table.Over the course of many minutes and after great study of the available burgers, each of which sounded divine in its own way, we had yet to interact with anyone about drinks or anything else. Not even so much as a “be right with ya.”I looked back behind me toward the bar and aside from the lonely looking crowd of sports fans nursing their beers, no employee of this establishment was found, aside from the two talking a few tables back seemingly deep in an after shift convo completely unawares of our increasingly desperate situation.Being of advanced middle age and every day slightly less likely to subject myself to any subpar experience unless faced with no other alternative, turned back to that magnificent view out beyond the patio where I could see Longhorn Steakhouse calling me like a scorned lover.After exchanging knowing glances we lit off in an instant, fleet of foot, making our way quickly to that inviting ambiance of LS and dined on that which can be depended on, including fast and friendly service with amazing food.Glad I was brave enough to have this experience because now I know.

Our first time eating at this place. Disappointing, ordered fried mushrooms, was told they ran out. Ordered fried jalapeños to start. Then we ordered fish tacos n the legend burger. Asked waitress to please have them put raw onions on it instead of fried. Ok waited about 1/2 hour. No fried jalapeños came. But I heard side table from us order fried jalapeños too. About 5 minutes and they got them. Our food came and I asked her for our fried jalapeños, she said they ran out. Let it slide. So I’m eating my burger and it was dry n no onions. So waitress came back by n I told her about the onions, she said I’m sorry they ran out of onions too. Wow. So we get bill n waitress tells me don’t answer the questions asked as I’m paying bill. Definitely my first n last time coming back. This was Saturday at around 11:30 am

It was just okay. We just went for the food (no drinks). We didnt get food poisoning, but it wasnt amazing food either. The nacho cheese tasted line melted spray cheese, the brisket was bland and disappointing, and the meat on the French Dip sandwich was more the texture of taco meat rather than the hearty pieces or deli slices that I would expect. Our server was nice, so we tipped her well (its not her fault the food wasnt great).We did not know beforehand how the servers would be dressed. We saw bare midriffs and a lot of cleavage, but the worst thing was another servers buttcheeks hanging out of her shorts. It was awkward, and we spent most of our meal looking down at our food. Some people may not mind, some might. Choose your comfort level.The rating is mostly based on the very average tasting food. Even without the unpleasant surprise of a servers rear, this isnt a place we would return to. Not terrible, but not great.

Five star prices with back porch ambiance and lackluster service. Ridiculously busy and inflexible menu, full of the most unappatizing choices I could imagine. Not worth the money or the mileage. One star for the draft beer selection.

Nice dinner, reminds me of twin peaks menu is similar to an americana type list, burgers, fries, wings, ribs. Staff is friendly enough. Plenty to eat and drink. Full bar and plenty of tvs

Server was awesome. Burger a little over cooked and fries cold but everything tasted pretty good. This isnt the first time I got cold fries at this place either. Imo I think this place should switch their fries to something they can cook and not get cold fast. They were room temperature when we received them. The server is great and I didnt want to make it a big deal. I can hear the table next to use complaining out his cold fries and how chewy they are too.

Half of our party waited over an hour for them to get to us.. once we finally ordered they never received their drinks, to top it off we got the check and they wanted us to pay for drinks we never got. We have given this place many chances, management needs to do better! This owner is losing so much business from all the bad reviews I’ve seen in the past few months. Do not recommend👎🏻

Great atmosphere. Some of the food was good. I did not like the fish tacos the fish lacked flavor and was very over cooked.

This place used to be great but its gone way down hill. Our last few experiences here have been bad. Waitstaff doesnt seem to understand the menu, service takes forever, and the food quality has gone way down. We unfortunately wont be back, which sucks because this place used to be awesome.

I dont normally give bad reviews at all. But I used to come here pretty frequently a few years back and I remember it being pretty good. I recently revisited....... not so much. The chicken sandwich I got looked like something you get from a school cafeteria at best, pretty much no sauce other than a drop in the middle. The fries for my date were enough that I could count them out by looking at the tray. We tried to order 2 or 3 apps that they were out of(we were told after they asked what we wanted for starters and couldnt get what we requestedIt just all and all was an experience I dont care to return to. I dont recommend this place.

I normally don’t write reviews, but our family is so unhappy with BackPorch! This used to be our favorite place to eat! Seems to me if you don’t sit in the Bar Area your pretty much getting placed in the fire. Our order didn’t come out the same time, mine & our child’s food came out so my husband told us to start eating and he would wait. Well. We were finished and his never came out! Then I finally ask where his food was and I got that look like “crap”! First off we were told they were out of fries, then magically he got fries!🙄 We were there for 1:45 minutes! And ordered three meals, and never got asked if we needed refills! With that being said something has to change there! && to top it off we couldn’t even make it home we all had to use the restroom 😬

Service was good. Food came out in parts. I ordered the chicken steak fingers with gravy. Gravy did come...after I finished eating. BOO.Burger was good but Fries were dry, cold, and hard. Cool place to have a drink but food is a hit and miss.

Soooo yummy. I got a double wide burger, kids got pretzels and steak strips. All was delicious. Super yummy food. Great beer selection. Not too loud so we were still able to have conversations. We were seated right away on a Sunday after church for a party of 11. Great service. We will definitely be back.

Nachos looked nothing like they use to when Dan still owned this place. Not enough queso to cover the chips. Sat at the bar and watched as the whole time we were there a guy stood by the well and harassed every server who came to pick up her drinks. No said anything to this douche. It was loud and the drinks were underwhelming, the only reason Im giving them 2 stars because at least the bar tenders were friendly.

Service was good, waitress was very tentative, about the only thing I was really disappointed in was the size of the hamburgers Im 53 years old Im not a child I dont eat like a child... Other than that pretty good place to eat kind of fun 👍💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I used to come here on lunch breaks all the time until February when it seemed to go downhill. My order was always wrong and the new wave of staff was unfriendly. Backed off coming here for awhile in hopes of change.Went in today for lunch and ordered the Cobb salad with extra bleu cheese crumbles and subbed bleu cheese dressing. Got my order and this is what it is. I got ZERO cheese and I got a tiny plastic cup only half filled with RANCH dressing.Wasn’t worth returning for the fight but I give up on this location. Maybe lunchtime just isn’t the time to go.

Kinsey was the best server I’ve ever had here! She was so attentive & friendly to my large group of friends! Couldn’t have asked for better service & will definitely be coming back & asking for her.

Food was pretty good... but as yall know, if youve ever noticed my reviews, I sit at the bar a lot. Generally speaking, I feel that this is where you get the most attentive service and usually some of the best personalities... not here at this time. The only reason 5 stars are not present on this review and really struggled with 4 is one of the most un-attentive and unpersonable bartenders Ive run in to in a while... Just Sayn 🙃

Typical sports bar/ restaurant style place. Almost comes across as a "Hooters" knock off as all the waitresses wear tiny shorts. Our server in particular didnt seem terribly interested in paying attention to the couple of tables she had. The atmosphere is fine, if a little cramped at times, several televisions mostly playing sports, but the central seating portion of the restaurant has high walls and low booths, so if you wanna watch, sit on the perimeter of the building. If you like beer on tap, theyve got 30+. If you want a menu that is equally expansive, go somewhere else. Burgers and sandwiches with fries, thats about the extent of whats available to order. I will say, their appetizers are good, provided they have them. We tried for the gouda bites, but they didnt have any gouda.Overall, it isnt high on the list of returnable places for my family and I, but with the right crowd and timing, it could be a good spot.

I want to preface this by saying Backporch has always been my favorite last minute lunch spot. The service is always great, fast, and the food is awesome for the price point. However, we went today for lunch, and the food was close to inedible, tasted as thought it was cooked on a very dirty griddle, The toasted brioche buns were so soaked in the flavor from it, you couldnt taste anything inside of the sandwich. Before we even left the restaurant I was feeling sick to my stomach. Im hoping this is an isolated incident and not a new ongoing issue, because the service was still amazing as usual. Just leaving some constructive criticism in hopes it causes some improvement, so itll remain an amazing place to hang out and eat.

Not busy. Took about 10 minutes to be seated as no staff were around. Had 3 total tables seated. A few people in the bar. Fries and wings were cold, celery was hot. Server disappeared several times. Not sure what kind of cheese was used on the cheese fries but it tasted like lightly, spiced, American cheese barely melted over cold fries.

The atmosphere was great. The only bright spot of my visit. The bar staff was not friendly at all. I asked for a beer list and was told to "just look at the taps, we dont have one." WOW! As a military veteran and patron, that was terrible. These people are costing you money. Food quality was only OK. Service was slow. I was highly disappointed. Being from Temple, I was hoping for more. Definitely cannot recommend this place in good faith. Go across the street to BJs, huge beer selection and way better food.

Outdoor seating in the shade! Revolver blood and honey on tap and pineapple cider. Yumm! The burger are really good, not the normal type you find, they are unique and great with the beer!

March 26, 2022Saturday night out we enjoyed our food and drinks at Back Porch. Convenient location right next to the cinema. The nachos were Great and the burger was Fantastic! Seated at a large comfortable booth that could accommodate 6. They did not skimp on air conditioning either.Many people were enjoying the outdoor patio.

3 stars for food and ambience only.(1)We were promptly greeted and sat. As with a few other establishments you have to pull the venues menu offline. However, unlike other establishments, this venue doesnt offer WiFi. Surprisingly enough, it was my son that noted this issue. The venue offers the perfect ambience for a sports bar. We sat on the side opposite the bar. Its walls are lined with televisions. After about 5 minutes, another party was placed across from us. The tables are separated by a 2-ft-gap. The server immediately greeted the table that had just arrived. I noted at that time that our server hadnt come over to us. Their drinks arrived but still no service for us. Now remember, the gap between tables is to the point of which that server shouldve acknowledged us and assisted even if she wasnt our server but she did not. After about 10 minutes or so, another female walks around checking on all of the tables. I flagged her down and asked her where my server was. She apologized and assisted us. Heres the catch, the same server that was at the other table comes over afterwards and gives a super lame excuse for not realizing that we were sitting at one of her tables. But heres the other funny part...she never came back to assist even after she found out we were her table.(2)my burger was delicious. Nice and moist but my fries felt and tasted as though theyd been under the lamp 15 minutes. My son said his chicken Philly was good.The ticket was reduced because of the timelines but I just dont think this was enough to get me back into this establishment. The server blatantly ignored us and for that, I wont encourage anyone to eat at this establishment. Read the other low ratings and deduce your own opinion.

Great service and awesome food! The 24-Hour Hour Black Pepper Brisket sandwich was AMAZING! the coleslaw was very very good, not your traditional slaw but just right to balance the BBQ. Drinks are really good too!

Good food and service. Had fish tacos cooked two ways, one fried one baked. Both were very good. Peach cobbler for desert took some extra time to come out, but the bartender was diligent in checking on it without me asking. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Great place and waitress was very good! They had a gluten free menu with a good amount of choices. Was pleasantly surprised. Gluten free Hamburger bun was tasty. Definitely a place I would go back to.

Back Porch Drafthouse has been around since 2008 and this is the first time hearing about it! Great pub and bar selection with tons of TVs to catch the games. The brunch on Saturday and Sunday is where it’s at! I got the big a$$ chicken biscuit that was delicious with fries and then off course I needed to get the chips and queso. Great patio seating. Go get some food there now!

Always love the atmosphere. Drinks are great. Loaded chips...WAYYY too salty buy still good lol. Now...if I could just say one thing...our server said she was new and she had no idea the answers to most of our questions. Being a draft house I feel like some kind of knowledge with the bar would be helpful. Several times I had to go to the bar instead because she would jist say idk....and not attempt to find out. Accidently ordered 4 shots instead of 2, asked if we wanted them still. We told her no and she said well...I csnt take it off the tab, its alcohol. Thankfully...someone else behind her said, yes you can ans got the extra taken off. More training is needed for this girl please. Lol

Loved this place. First time here had a wonderful waitress who was very welcoming jasmine the best and suggested great drinks and plates.

This is one of the best places to eat in temple. My favorite here is the barnyard freak. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. A little pricey but the food is worth it.

Nice place to meet up with friends and hang out. The food looks really good and is prepared well. I ordered brisket nachos, pickle chips, and hot wings. The chicken was a little dry but overall everything tasted really good. Beer was good also!

The food is good with lots of choices and burger options. Service was only so so but could have been just our wait person. All employees were wearing masks. Not all customers walking in and through the restaurant.

Good Beer and Great service. I ordered the burger special which included a double cheeseburger with all kinds of good ingredients. They have a good variety of foods and beer. Keep an eye out for their Wednesday specials on the chalk board when you walk in. They change it every Wednesday.

The place looks great, aside a few furniture choices. Food and service will quickly distract you though. The Big Bad Riley burger is choice 👌🏼 (secret sauceand well worth the wait. The wait staff are plenty friendly and efficient in their service. Not a bad way to spend a nice afternoon lunch with anyone really.Stasney was our waitress.

Had the Barn yard Burger. I am gluten free & keto so brought my own bun. Can I just say I am still drooling? They were very accommodating as they even took my smart bun and threw it on the grill and served my burger on it. This burger had an egg on top & had ham. Hands down the best burger ever. My husband had a huge burger with bbq sauce & and a heavy weight champion of an onion ring on the top. I was bursting at the seems otherwise I would have ate the whole dang thing. Have you not tried a fried egg on top of your burger? Let me tell you its a thing & a very good thing at that🍔🍔 Service was overall good as well. Will be a repeat offender lol (aka customer)

I came here for an early dinner and it was amazing! the food is the best! I got a burger and I thought it was pretty big. I also got a fish bowl and it was delicious! I recommend coming here!It was a tad bit pricy thought but in my thought it was worth it. we got 2 burgers, a fish bowl, 2 beers and fried pickles and it was 60$ plus tip.Would come here again!
