Bacho Kiro cave - Tourist attraction in Razgrad, Bulgaria
The area is so beautiful. The Monastery and the cave are breathtaking. The cave admission fee is 5 Leva (£2.3and actually you explore it on your own! Sure there are other visitors but you dont have a creepy person following your every step like in the UK. It is 300 m of corridors and halls, nicely illuminated and the person selling tickets to the cave was great. He let us go for free as they dont accept cards and we had only pounds. I gave him £5 and he pinned it to a wall board as a memento.
Treasures inside earth always are amazing
The Bacho Kiro cave (Bulgarian: пещера „Бачо Киро“is situated 5 km (3.1 miwest of the town Dryanovo, Bulgaria, only 300 m (980 ftaway from the Dryanovo Monastery. It is embedded in the canyons of the Andaka and Dryanovo River. It was opened in 1890 and the first recreational visitors entered the cave in 1938, two years before it was renamed in honor of Bulgarian National Revival leader, teacher and revolutionary Bacho Kiro. The cave is a four-storey labyrinth of galleries and corridors with a total length of 3,600 m (11,800 ft), 700 m (2,300 ftof which are maintained for public access and equipped with electrical lights since 1964. An underground river has over time carved out the many galleries that contain countless stalactone, stalactite, and stalagmite speleothem formations of great beauty. Galleries and caverns of a 1,200 m (3,900 ftlong section have been musingly named as a popular description of this fairy-tale underground world. The formations succession: Bacho Kiro’s Throne, The Dwarfs, The Sleeping Princess, The Throne Hall, The Reception Hall, The Haidouti Meeting-Ground, The Fountain and the Sacrificial Altar
Loved the cave ,,, but if you are into adventures check the trail above it ,, be careful its slippery steep and narrow
Suitable and for kids. There is long route and short route. Make sure you have jackets and proper shoes with you. The guide was really helpful and handed out vests for the unprepared tourists.
Nice old monastery with walks behind it next to river really nice.
Closed until 3pm cause of electricity power failure 😡
Beautiful place to visit. Entry tickets required, can be bought right next to caves entrance.
Interesting cave system, some low areas that require you to duck down - was only able to do the shorter route as the long one was closed.
Bacho Kiro cave is located in a lovely valley where two rivers meet at a really beautiful monastery (Dryanovosurrounded by woods and towering cliffs. There are a couple of excellent restaurants, one in the monastery and one next to one of the rivers and some really good walks (one through the woods to a pool and waterfall you can swim in - up the river to the left as you come out the back of the monastery about a 10 minute walk).A truly delightful and relaxing environment.
The cave is very interesting and kids will be pleased visiting this place.
An interesting place with some lovely walks and views.
Nice big cave to visit with live bats hanging from the ceiling. You can choose to take a shorter path to the end of the cave, or a longer more narrower path that takes 1h. Worth visiting for the entire area.
Very nice and relaxing, speaking for myself. The staff was friendly and the cave was lit but I’d recommend you bring a flashlight.
Its a great cave to visit and the bars are amszing
We went for lunch, although the waitress spoke English...very well, i might add, ...she looked at us as if she didnt want us there, but was smiling at all the other tables of people..weve never been yreated like this.
There is a long pass, only available for groups and with a guide, not sure if booking must be done or you can wait for some enthusiasts to gather. Never been through it, but I hope I will. Otherwise the small are to visit is nice, with its beautiful concert hall (check for events, not often, tho), been there few times. Take some jacket - great place to refresh in a hot summer day. The nature around is also awesome - picnic time! (There is a river upstairs, ask). Nearby monastery is nice too.
Only the short 25minute path open due to the time of year.Very interesting to see how powerful nature can be to carve out this cave.
A beautiful cave with various halls inside, well lit and with sleeping bats hanging from the ceilings. The woman on the reception desk was extremely friendly and helpful giving us extra information.
Lovely cave with a lot of stalagmites and stalactites. The itinerary reaching the place offers some breathtaking views of waterfalls, tremendous rocks and rivers! You can also visit the nearby church. The road to the cave is perfect and you wont have any troubles. In the cave there are a great deal of artefacts like prehistoric human bones, tools and remnants of several different animals. I would definitely recommend visiting the cave Bacho Kiro!
This is an interesting cave located in a very scenic area in the mountain. There are two routes inside. The short one needs around 30 minutes to pass and you can take it every hour in the high season. The long route took us more than 70 minutes to pass and was offered us beautiful and interesting underground views. You can take this route at 2 p.m. every day in the high season or at any time if you are a group or 15 or more people. If you want to make photos or videos in the cave you must pay an insignificant additional fee. We were allowed to make photos using flashes, so I believe that generally its OK.The cave is particularly recommended for families with kids because its safe, there are no dangerous elements like slippery steps, steep passages etc.In the close proximity to the cave entrance one may find interesting hiking trails and the so called eco paths that will lead him to nice spots in the mountain.
Amazing place to visit. the guide is great, just be prepared you should knee a little bit as the tunnels are a bit short. but the experience is totally worthy.
One of the oldest caves in Bulgaria with gorgeous nature around. Its kids friendly and if you visit during the summer, not even too cold inside :There is long and short route, three floors and the freedom to go with or without a guide.
Very beautiful cave, the guides are pleasant people.I recommend the long route which is available every day on 14:00PM.
The long tour is so worth it. The guide lady was very nice and thourough. Beutiful cave with lots of features. Easy to walk trough.
A nice cave with three (or maybe even morelevels. Make sure you visit the love bench located around 20 mins max away via a trail. Also, you can do the hike between Bacho Kiro cave and Bozhentsi - it takes around five hours and it is very easy and pleasant!
The cave area is wonderful. 3 hours of walking and relaxing.
Choose the long route if visiting the cave... Otherwise a nice cave but there are prettier caves in Bulgaria like Saeva dupka.
The waterfall and the cave are some 10 minutes away from the Monastery and if you come all the way here, it would be a shame not to visit these two too.
There are better caves not so humanized. If you prefer more natural place this is not your place it has stairs and lights that are damaging the natural formations
Very beautiful place. Be carrefull if you use Maps to driver here because the destination was wrong in my case. Much better is to set as destination the Dryanovo Monastery.I pay 4 lv/person to have access to the cave.
Wonderful Cave with a lot of natural band old historical facts
From Drayanovo Monestery, it takes about 10-15 minutesto walk to the cave. There are 2 available trips. We wanted to take the long one but the man selling the tickets does not speak a word in English. We tried to ask him how we can take the long trip. He lost his patience very quickly and kept repeating with hand gestures that the short trip takes 20 minutes. Eventually, we paid 10 Leva for a family of 5 and took the short trip which was a bit disappointing
A must visit place. Its a rather famous cave with some interesting traditions. There is a guide to show you the most interesting stuff and help you not get killed.
I really liked the cave and the magnificent waterfall nearby. We took the short route which was said to be 25 mins but was shorter. We will definitely come back and try the long route.
Beautiful old cave, and the surroundings, the different waterfall, the old path over the mountains to Bozhentsi, the ruins of the please fortress and the wieu beats them all.
Magnificent cave, i encourage everyone to see it. Not only the short way, but the group(15 people, 1 hourroad.
A very beautiful cave. The local guide told us a lot about the history of the cave. Had a great time there.
Very nice visit to this cave including a tour guide. The place is perfect for those who like nature and wonder about its beauties. The cave is also very nice, well presented and very interesting. We had a tour guide who guide the whole group throughout the place. However, my only complaint is that they don’t have guides in english which makes it a bit difficult for those like me who are not from the area. Other than that, i strongly recommend it
We saw only the short route which is like 15-20 minutes inside the cave. Maybe the long route is more interesting - if possible try it.
The cave itself is ok, crowded with tourists and spoiled with lights and fences. The Eco trail looks amazing but with two small kids, we didnt take it...
Good enough, the cave itself is not very big but worth checking out. It is easy to find while you enjoy walking through the nearby park.
Quite small. However quite interesting. There is English speaking guide.
Quiet place with excellent panorama over Dryanovo monastery.
This is one beautiful historic place
A large cave, with many interesting formations. Bats fly freely and can be seen even within reach, but be reasonable with your camera flash. A minus: no English guide and very few explanations. Take the trail on the left of cave (as you exit), marked with a green sign - youll reach a nice viewpoint. The trail can be muddy.
Super nice cave! The hike to get there is also very interesting and the nature around you is beautiful!
The 30 minutes tour its actually a 10 minutes. Still its a nice cave to visit. The human stupidity its present here also at the end of the cave all the walls and floor its full of coins. So take a bag to collect some... :)
Easy to access, nice for kids. Could not take long tour unfortunately.
One of the most mesmerizing caves in Bulgaria! Take the longer road - it is amazing. The short one is not so cool and there is a lot of mud.
