Babel Café Restaurant in Istanbul

The first time we came here, the kitchen was unfortunately already closed. The second time we were a bit more lucky and finally able to enjoy the delicious food. I really liked the cozy vibe and the background music was amazing. I can totally recommend this place for a nice dinner with authentic Turkish cuisine!

Super friendly service. All staff speaks English. The upstairs area is very cozy and tucked away from the main street noise. The two of us ordered the Meze plate for 2, it was amazing and more than enough for two adults, we also ordered the Kagit Kebab which was also great, but we were not able to finish it. Overall a great experience.

The atmosphere was awesome, the food was delicious and the prices were okay.Ive felt like Im dinning in an RPG game tavern :)

Atmosphere is good. Food is expensive. 110 lira for falafel.People mostly came here for drinks( what we sawrather than lunch or dinner.Falafel and lentil soup had good taste.There was lovely music playing. I have not seen kids dining in this cafe.

Good place to either have a quick beer or have a dinner. Lovely ambience and very welcoming and friendly service. The food was delicious. And it was great to find out that they have a vegetarian section on the menu.

Come here for a big selection of beers from Gara Guzu. The people who work here are so nice and they speak English. Craft beer reasonably priced at 60tl.

An excellent, quaint restaurant that has attentive service and amazing food.I went there for dinner my first week here and I tried a meze plate for the first time. I don’t know the names of what I had, but each one was flavorful and amazing!!I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a great meal at a great price.

Honestly the best lunch weve had in Istanbul.Weve had a small meze plate (wasnt small at all), mantis and Babel Special. Portions are gigantic, so be careful 😅Everything was very tasty, and the service is fast and friendly. Waiter spoke English very well too.11 out of 10.

Delicious little cafe. I had the pleasure of having lunch at this little cafe after wandering up-hill and needed to rest! I had the carrot in yogurt and sausage in hummus and both were delightful and fresh. The pita was warm, pliable and ready to dip and eat. There is a bar (yeahand my Lynchburg Lemonade was light and refreshing. I highly recommend.

I have been coming to Babel Cafe for more than five years and it is definitely one of my favorite places in Istanbul, and there are many many to choose from. The food, the people, the music, the location, the whole vibe, is essentially Istanbul — so warm and inviting. Ask to sit upstairs on the balcony, order the manti (Turkish raviolior Turkish breakfast with a cheese and potato omelette, maybe even a class of a nice spirit…why not? you will not be sorry. This place gets in your bones, great night time spot too. Enjoy!

Within this cute cafe with exposed red bricks You will find Babel Cafe. Glaring at me on the menu is the word “Gastronomy”, and I am surrounded by people that seem to enjoy drinking craft beers and eating a variety of inspiring foods. Since I’m traveling, I will cut to the chase- This place does not disappoint! I recommend the Manti (Turkish tortellini if you like Italian food, Pilmeni is you’re the Russian clientele). Pair this with the Weiss Bier from Gara Guzu Brewery, Mugla, Turkey. They will serve you well!

Ate here several times already as they have delicious meals and great selection of craft beers (some are not so great but that’s not their fault). Staff also speaks great English and very attentive and helpful. Should surely eat here if you are staying in the area.

Good music and vibes, super friendly staff. Good drinks, craft beers and pretty decent house wine but unfortunately food is very average, nothing to write home about. So would def recommend for a drink/chill/light snack

We went late in the evening after a long flight and it was the perfect spot. We had the mezze platter to share and it was excellent. Service was great, and loved the ambiance, would definitely come back!

Lovely little place in a side street away from the Taksim crowds. Menu is delectable and makes provision for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free food choices. Nice, varied playlist. Service can be a bit slow upstairs but the place has a chill vibe. Prices are fantastic.

In this place you will find the top quality of Turkey’s flavours. It is a journey to go through all type of mezzes! Try all of them! And the Babel Special, how tasty! Try also the desserts 🍮

I could not highly recommended this place more! What a vibe to stumble into!! Not only is their food delicious, it’s in a great area, reasonably priced and to add a cherry on top of this wonderful experience….all of the staff are just incredible! They are all so welcoming, get service , fun and they create the best atmosphere for you. Come here anytime of the day and I can guarantee you’ll have a wonderful time. The large meze plate, breakfast plate and arap tava are awesome! Enjoy!

Traditional Turkish food in a cool Cafe, nice environment and good service

We discovered this place through Google reviews and it was worth it! the traditional Turkish food is top notch, from the appetizers to the Babels special (which I highly recommend trying!). Neat interiors, great music selection and great service, the guys working there are all super hospitable and friendly. A place we will definitely want to return to :)

The best food and beer we had in Istanbul! There are many vegetarian options and vegetarian twists to classic Turkish dishes, but you can also have meat. Beer is great with q huge variety and even limited editions. But the best is the staff, such nice and friendly guys!

Very very good food. Must try. We have the meze platter, the traditional Turkish dumplings and the babel special - all were amazing. Our server was very welcoming and spoke very good English.

Babel is an authentic cafe restaurant with impeccable cocktails and Turkish cuisine from Hatay, Antakya, located in a beautiful cobblestoned alley in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.Hatay is a province in Southern Turkey that the Mediterranean Sea and Syria border. UNESCO recognises it as the "World City of Gastronomy".A friend in Belgrade recommended us Babel, and he was definitely on point. We were warmly greeted by the lovely team and enjoyed an afternoon devouring the most delicious food and cocktails.We loved this dish called Gül Böreği so much, we ordered it twice. It is a pastry filled with mince meat and spices, topped with yoghurt. The flavours were like nothing we had experienced, absolutely divine.Babel is a very cosy and comfortable cafe with eclectic decor whilst perfect for people watching too and enjoying the local life around you.Highly recommend a visit to enjoy the atmosphere and sample new cuisine.

Amazing cafe with great vegan options in the heart of Istanbul! The vegetarian special was fabulous and a good portion size! A great place to sit for awhile, people watch, and enjoy the street view. The staff was extremely friendly as well. Will be back for sure!

Fabulous lunch at Babel Café! We had the "small" mezze (not that smalland then two typical dishes recommended by our lovely waiter (Mantı, and Arap Tava if I remember correctlyand everything was amazing! Thanks again, we really enjoyed our time there

What is this place, a hidden gem?! We had the tastiest homemade Turkish food ever! Kudos to the lady in the kitchen (the staff told us she makes everything). We enjoyed every single piece of food on the plates, and even the tea, too! The atmosphere of the restaurant is so warm and cosy, it made us feel like we were at someone’s home. Best restaurant ever in Istanbul, hands down.

Found this little cafe and left with joy and satisfaction.We ordered small Mezze ( came with pita bread), Halloumi salad and French fries.( Reasonable price 135 LilaPortion was good for two and taste was really great.Staff were very friendly and attending to our needs in a gentle way. Good selection of music too. Will return again for different dishes!

Amazing restaurant.From music, to service and food, everything was excellent and the prices were reasonable.We had a mix of starters which was delicious, and for main course we listened to waiters recommendation and had kebabs in different variants and they were superb.Important to mention that this is one of not so many restaurants in Istanbul that serves alcohol.

Came here today in search of vegan food and were absolutely amazed by the quality and taste! I took vegan meze plate and it included all their vegan starters. It was enough to be full for a day. My partner (non-vegantook a kebab plate and he really liked it. We were sitting in quiet area with lots of greens listening to country music 😌🎶 The staff is kind and friendly, we had a lovely talk and were really pleased to visit the place. Highly recommend!

The restaurant has a wonderful athmosphere being located on a small but popular tourist street. The waiter was extremly kind and not pushy at all. The food came quickly and was super yummy. 10/10

Seriously have to go here. The food is delicious and great quality, the service Is amazing, the atmosphere is great, the music they play is awesome and they have a great beer selection!! Have to stop here if you are in Istanbul. Favorite restaurant hands down.

Very nice place, I went for meze assortment and it was very good, lots of flavors and taste. The waiter was kind enough to stop me from ordering the main dish with the meze, cause the plate is enough for one person

With my boy-friend we live in this neighborhood, and we go very often here, alone or with friends. The food and drinks are very good, but the best thing of Babel is that you really feel at home. The waiters are kind and it’s nice to talk and laugh with them, and the place it’s very cozy…We’ll miss this place a lot when we’ll move abroad! ❤️

This was such a great discovery! We were staying in a nearby place and found Babel while exploring the neighborhood. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the cat sleeping in the chair next to us really made it special!

Loved this place. Stopped by for dinner and didn’t regret it. The ravioli is little pillows of meat and you can’t go wrong with the mezzo platter. Manager was super friendly and welcoming. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting a great meal in Istanbul.

I love this cafe! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Yavuz was a great host and even offered me çay after my meal. I’m glad I’m staying close by because I need to come back
