Beers brewed on the premises help wash down baby-back ribs & pulled pork, plus scratch-made pies.
Everything went smoothly from the time i walked in to the time i walked out. The food was delicious and came out quickly and the service was amazing!
It was good, but very expensive for what you get. There are many other BBQ places where you spend ~$20/person for the same quality.
On November 9th my wife and I and two friends went to Babes for dinner. I ordered ribs and two of us ordered the pork chop and one ordered the fish and chips. The ribs were very tough the pork chops were smaller than in the past and not prepared the same way and the fish & chips were so salty that our guest couldnt eat the fries. To be fair the pork chops were not on the menu that night but our waitress managed to get them for us. None of us were happy with our meals that night and we were all left wondering how Babes had become so mediocre. We have been going to Babes for many years but this will be the last time.
Very good food, good friendly service. Enjoyed both beers they brew. Half price beers in the bar during happy hour.
Great little pies w/ice cream, big o stack of bbq ribs, and Mac n cheese. Delish! Service was mediocre.
We went for lunch on Friday 10/21. Josh our waiter was the best waiter we could have ever had. Very personable, very pleasant, just overall a very happy and great person. The food. We all had was great. The brisket burger, the chicken sandwich, the Texas Tornado is a hot link sausage with brisket. My husband loved. Okra amazing!Great food, great atmosphere!Thank you.
Wow- all items delicious 😋. Three of us started with appetizers- fried green tomatoes with a smashing sauce. Onion rings very tasty, with the same batter. Skillet cornbread had a hint of jalapeño with a crunchy texture at the bottom. My short ribs were fork tender. Lunch was topped off with a personalized homemade peach pie a la mode. Man, that crust was so flaky. I cant wait to do it again!
Nice ambiance. The wooden architecture is beautiful. Food excellent, we had ribs. What really made this a great experience for us was our waiter, Josh, he has a very warm personality, was very funny and attentive.Thank you Babes for an very enjoyable time!
Great Barbecue restaurant with a very expensive menu and its own brewery. The service gets better and better every year.
I was there several times. This restaurant is good for food and drink. And the people are kind too. So Sometimes I feel that I want to go there again. But I could not go there for a while.
Service was excellent. Food was amazing. Reasonable prices and good beer selection.
We love Babes!!! We always bring our 1 year old and its such a great atmosphere for the whole family. The house bbq sauce they use is sweet and very tasty. I always order the half chicken, wet with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. GREAT portions and super friendly staff.
Good food, good selection. We have been here a couple times when we come out here. The skillet corn bread and fried green tomatoes are great appetizers. Weve had the St Louis ribs, brisket, chicken fried steak, beef and brisket burger, and a steak. All the food has been good, prepared well, and has good flavor.Gotta try one of the fresh baked pies for dessert too 👍🏼
Come for the bbq and beer. (And stick to that.We tried the baby back ribs, the St. Louis ribs, and the short rib. All great and very tender. Beer is tasty too.The sides…well that leaves a lot to be desired. Tried several different ones like the Mac and cheese (lacks any flavor), coleslaw (meh), and the bbq baked beans (tastes like Bushes canned baked beansare all pretty boring. We then finished off the meal with the dessert flight. It included a chocolate mousse that not only tasted bad, but was gritty/grainy. Did no one try this before sending it out?? And I love chocolate, so it takes a lot for me to not actually want to eat it.Overall, the food is both a bit and miss. I probably would not recommend it to friends.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what their food or beer is like. Their posted hours said they were open until 9PM. It was a 30 minute drive for us, and we arrived at 8:10. But multiple reviews had said their food came quickly so we werent concerned. We opened the door, and a rude voice shouted from the host stand 20 feet away "were closed, the hours are on the door". We relayed the message to the three parties behind us (sans the bitter toneand went to find a different place to eat.In fairness I did find the hours printed on the glass next to the entry door. But I would be wary of a business that knows to have their glass repainted, but doesnt understand how to update hours online, or hire staff that doesnt harbor a resentment for the rest of humanity. But dear reader, dont worry, I submitted a picture of their beloved "door hours" and requested an hours change on Google maps.
It was pretty decent bbq with very reasonable prices. Their side dishes are very delicious as well. It only take a minute for the food to come after we ordered. I’m giving four starts only because the ribs can be more fresher. The sweet tea is a plus!
We waited for 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge that we were there then finally my boyfriend had to go ask someone to come give us water because servers were walking past us multiple times without even saying a word and acting like they didnt see us.The sweet potato fries were delicious and plentiful, bathrooms are clean, and service was good after we got a server. The muffins were delicious, and the cob salad was also plentiful.
My first visit in all the years driving past, thinking I should stop. Today became that day, enjoyed a late lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food choice.Ill now be stopping much more and soon
We shared a rack of baby back ribs. They literally fell off the bone and the flavors were fantastic. Wish I knew about this place sooner. Will definitely be back
I had heard a lot of good things from friends that have come here. Too bad our experience didnt hold a candle to theirs. it was 815 when we arrived they close at 9pm and you could tell they were getting ready to start shutting down. We ordered and our food came in 5 minutes not barbecue hot it was microwave hot. I wouldve gone to Ralphs for some microwaved tri tip if that was the case. I will give it another go just because I believe everyone has their days. My buddy was trying to order a half rack of ribs with half a chicken and they said no but then yes when our waiter came with the approval from the chef. So then they bring him a full rack and they still try to charge him for it although he tried to deny it and was specific not to mention charging a half chicken when it was a quarter chicken a breast and a wing.
Great food! Large portions. It came very quickly after ordering. Our server was pleasant and attentive, a difficult task as we were part of a large party. Strongly recommended
Great menu here! There was a variety of items to choose from such as tasty salads especially the beet salad with arugula and goat cheese. The southern fried okra with the sauce was very good. We ordered the baby back ribs, however, they were over cooked, chewy and sparse meat with sweet sticky bar b que sauce. Not very good. It seems like the chefs cannot get the ribs right.
5 star food! We did take out about a half hour before they closed. We tried the lobster Mac, ribs, brisket Mac, beans, chicken wings and chicken strips... everything was so delicious. And you get a lot of food! Cant wait to come back and try other menu items. Keep up the great work!
Outstanding BBQ/food and great selection of drinks! Been here many times on the weekend (party of 5and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. Staff always great at keeping the drinks and food flowing. If youre not local, it can be a bit out of the way but it is well worth the drive. Highly recommended!!
I love this BBQ spot and I wish they open one in LA or OC! Babes will be my must-stop when Im visiting the area. Those cubed meats were the brisket and they were absolutely tender and full of flavor. The ribs were also delicious and flavorful. Babes was actually founded by Donald Warren Callender of Marie Callenders restaurant. They also have their own brewery and we ordered a flight of their beer taste. Quite tasty!
nice restraunt. decent BBQ. lots of beers!good portions for your hard earned $$$
Cesar was an amazing waiter. All of his recommendations were phenomenal. We ordered the goat cheese tamales, two house brews- a blonde ale and a sour. Phenomenal. The food was amazing. We split a main dish of baby back ribs and brisket. Fell right off the bone. Plenty for two with the tamale and main dish. We also ordered the peach pie. Everything right on the table to use. Best service.
Best beet salad EVER!Ribs are delicious. Return every time we’re in Palm Desert. Our server Michele was great.
Out running errands and ran across this brew pub decided to check ot out. The sour beer was amazing. Food was also really good. Staff was friendly and helpful
Me and my husband came to Babe’s for the first time on Wednesday. We don’t need to wait at all. All the servers are nice, friendly, and helpful. We shared full rack baby back ribs, grilled corn, and lava cake. The baby back rib is sooo goood. The barbecue sauce was a on a sweetside so I added hot sauce myself. And it’s perfection. The grilled corn is amazing. I wish they add more sauce on the corn. Lava cake is perfect to end the dinner with. Will definitely come back.
If you’re looking for a great meal with barbecue and well thought out menu items give Babe’s a try in Rancho Mirage. It’s a local brewery with an excellent variety of unique local beers. This quality restaurant is one of Don Callendar’s culinary ventures. If you’re familiar with the Marie Callender’s brand this is the same family. You can expect the same excellent quality with attention to detail. All the dishes are masterfully created. I highly recommend trying their Summer Slaw. Located in the River Complex with easy access and ample parking. It’s a fun relaxing destination to have a meal.
Menu had a nice selection . We chose a different restaurant. The atmosphere was nice though and I loved all the cute pig statues
Good Bar-B-Que Place to go to in the Palm Desert area. Ribs and all the meat we had was really fresh, and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is really relaxing as well, great for group gatherings, or birthdays. Wait staff were very accommodating, and attentive as well. Recommended!
Place was really good! I ordered the ribs and they were perfect. It was kind is a shame that they didn’t have any mashed potatoes to go with it. Service was excellent. Refilled our drinks multiple times without asking!
Didnt plan to eat here but glad I did. This was during mothers day when everyone was busy and wait time were 2 hours everywhere. Babes was able to accommodate us and i had some of the best cornbread in my life. Everything was just so delicious. I really enjoyed my meal here.
Absolutely delicious! Everything was scrumptious- moist, tender, flavorful and plentiful! Our server Jose was great. The atmosphere was fun... Coming back FOR sure!
Ordered a three smoked meat sampler plate. It was so small. A 1 x 1 inch cube of brisket, 1 x 1 inch cube of beef short rib and 3 slices of tri tip. This was $34 with 2 sides. I ordered Mac and cheese and half a yam ($3 extrawhich raised the price to $37. The food was just ok. Had strawberry lemonade in a 16 oz cup that was more ice than drink, which was ok for $4.We had a discount card from our time share and they would not honor it. I will not be going back anytime soon. Spoke to someone else that has gone recently and they told us they also were not impressed.
Such good BBQ! We found it just searching for local eateries and we were not disappointed! Great service, atmosphere and food. Would recommend this place for lunch or dinner.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and great service! Cant ask for more! Indoor and patio dining available.
Its a beautiful place and the food was very good. The ST. louis Ribs were excellent and tender. The BBQ sauce was just right. And they broccoli and zucchini was cooked to perfection. The baked beans were excellent as well. The appetizer Shrimp n fries were very good as well. The staff was very attentive and delightful. Thank you Jose!!!And i loved the horchatta sorbet at the end. Enjoy the pics!!!
I always enjoy Babes BBQ and Brew. The service was good our server was wonderful. I very much enjoyed my dinner and my sons (he did not but he was trying something new). My cocktail was good and the beers others at our table ordered were also good. A couple of friends that were with us thought their food was rather bland. That is why I am only giving it 4 starts. In all fairness I do not eat out with these friends from out of town often so I am unfamiliar with their tastes and how difficult they are. I know some people can not be pleased, I just dont know if they are these people. I will go back and enjoy Babes again.
Yummy meal, though many in our group came for the baby back ribs only to find they were sold out. Service was great they immediately sat our large party of 12. I had the tri-tip with the peppercorn sauce.
1st time here, atmosphere was warm and inviting. Server was nice but didn’t seem as friendly but he was prompt and attentive. I ordered the barbecue brisket tacos. The meat was tender but a bit fatty. I was expecting more flavor from the the meat and barbecue sauce, I was disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing... they are known for their barbecue tacos. I wouldn’t go out of my way to try it again because overall it wasn’t memorable.
The food and service was OUTSTANDING! Had Tri-Tip Omar with mushroom peppercorn sauce with garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans. You can choose your own sides... tons of choices! Had chocolate lava cake for dessert. OMG, delicious!!! Lance was our server and gave us excellent service. If youre ever in Rancho Mirage, give Babes a try!!
Waiter was on point...with recommendations to table service. Was very attentive and deserves the highest marks. Atmosphere here is amazing and cant wait to come back for dinner. Wings were cooked perfectly but could have been seasoned a bit but great regardless. Their BBQ sauce on table was nice and tangy and complimented the wings well. Also was provided with larger ranch dressing in a dish that made it easy for dipping....that extra touch when table already had ranch shows how proud of their service they are......
This restaurant was better than I thought it would be for a bbq restaurant. I had chicken fried steak with garlic mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. The chicken fried steak had an original coating, which made it worth while but the meat itself was just a little tough. The side order of mac and cheese was creamy and the noodles were not overcooked. The potatoes were good. My wife had the order of three different sausages, rabbit, elk, and wild boar. All were good and tasty over a bed of sauteed onions. Overall it was a good experience. The place is very nice and seems "upper end". The price was a little high, 19 for the chicken fried steak and 18 for the sausage. After the meal they gave us a small taste of watermelon sorbet that was excellent. Service was good. I would go back dont would recommend this place.
The house beers were all very well made. I enjoyed them all. The BBQ was decent but far from the traditional BBQ back home. The meats were all cooked fine but they came out all covered in sauce. Id much prefer to add my own sauce and even then only if its need. The commercial cooker they use doesnt add near the smoke flavor a good wood burner does. Service was great.
Babes is worth the visit, plain and simple. Great food at a great price and the sorbet to end the meal is a nice touch. I have never had a bad visit and the food comes out perfectly no matter what time it is. Brisket sliders with the turkey chilli and sweet potato fries are my absolute favorite.
100 degree day at the aquatic park... wanting good food..."Boo Boo, what do you want to eat?""Chicken and beef!"I asked, "Like a sandwich?""No. Like real chicken and beef."Interesting reply from a six-year old, but seeing as Ive trained him on BBQ, I figured that would be a good choice. Google Maps, search BBQ.Babes Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse.Lets go. Car says its 104, so indoors is a good choice. Place is dark and has a strange smell inside to start, but I became accustomed to it. Good host. Better waiter. Eric K according to receipt. Lets get to the food.Baby back ribs & 2 chicken thighs combo. Ribs were a touch of smoke and very tender. A+ Chicken was tender and flavorful. ASecond entree - brisket sandwixh. Two of them in one order! Buttery bun and fatty brisket. A little flavorless for me, but thats what good sauce is for! Brisket - B+ Sauce - A+Sides. Got 5! Onion Rings, sweet potato fries, coleslaw - A+ Beans, french fries - A.Service -A+ Cleanliness - APeach iced tea and lemonade - AComplementary sorbet after dinner was an extra plus. Flavor of day prepared here - pineapple. This place exceeded my expectations. I recommend to all.
The best BBQ in the area! I got the brisket sliders and the brisket was so tender and the sauce was sweet. I havent had sauce this good in a while. I even bought some for the road.
