Hip, intimate fixture offering Cajun & Creole dishes along with weekly specials & local craft beers.
My crab cake meal was delicious! My husbands gumbo had 1 small piece of chicken and 3 tiny pieces of sausage while our 3 neighbors gumbo was loaded with meat. At 6 pm they should count not only shrimp but make sure everyone gets meat. Our rib appetizer we got a tough end piece with 3 bones. At that price 4 bones would have been appropriate. Don’t serve the scraps. The twist on the banana pudding with cookie crumbs equal to 1/2 of 1 cookie, fluff and a single slice of banana not happy. My white chocolate bourbon bread pudding…. No flavor. I could not taste bourbon and white chocolate has very little taste. My Prickly pear cocktail very standard. After spending $130 I wish more went well.
Had a 7:30 reservation had to wait 25 minutes at door when others with a 7:30 reservation were seated right away. We were sat at a childs table barely wide enough for a plate....left wont be back.
You will need to make a reservation. We walked in one Saturday and were told we needed a reservation. So we returned another time. It’s a super cute cozy restaurant with amazing food! We had sangria which was delicious. Our favorite appetizer was the crab and asparagus. I had the shrimp and grits. My husband had the scallops both entrees were amazing! We had the banana pudding for dessert. The banana had caramelized sugar like crème brûlée. We loved everything about this restaurant and we’ll definitely be back soon!
Went and only 1/4 of tables were full. Rudest hostess said “sorry we only seat with reservation”. Don’t know about the food but would never step foot in there again. We have been to some of the best restaurants in the country and never had someone rolled there eyes with an empty restaurant.
We went for a date night fell in love with this restaurant. The food was phenomenal and service was great. Our waitress was patience and took her time to help select the awesome drinks to pair with our dinner. Cant wait to come back. Highly recommended!
I absolutely adore this restaurant! The ambiance is amazing and the food IMPECCABLE. My second visit was even better than my first. I really grateful we have this gem in downtown Greensboro
Food and ambiance was great!
I traveled 40 minutes from Winston-Salem to try this place, because Winston doesnt have any good Cajun food. When my partner and I arrived at 8:20, the hostess informed me that they were already closed (their hours are posted as 5:30-9 for dinner on Thursdays). Note to business owners: you never know how far someone has traveled to visit you, so please try to maintain regular business hours.Follow-up: this happened a second time tonight, three years later. Nothing has changed. I asked the hostess why they dont simply post shorter business hours, and she said thats just not the way they do things. She said that she urges all guests to be finished and prepared to leave by 9:00, which is their posted closing time. This is a terrible business practice for a restaurant, and I will not give them a third chance.
Service was amazing... No long waits (reservation)... Food was perfect ❤️ If you Creole visit them... I suggest reservations for Friday and Saturday atleast 🥰
This was the second time at blue denim. The first was amazing, 5 star food and 5 star service.Tonight we asked to be seated and the waiter, a tall slender Caucasian male refused to seat us outside. There was an open table outside, but he said he wasn’t seating anyone outside. There were two small tables outside with people eating. When I asked why he wasn’t seating outside he said, “because I’m not seating outside, that’s the reason.” He then walked off without looking at us, or explaining why. Honestly we were shocked. So we left. On the way out a friendly female waitress asked why we weren’t being seated, we told her, and she looked really confused. We’ve been recommending this restaurant to everyone because the food was amazing. Now we don’t feel welcome. It’s a shame.
Some of the best Cajun food Ive had outside of Louisiana! The vibes of the restaurant were pretty fun for a low profile dinner for two. (Pictured are the Crawfish Etoufee and Gumbo YaYa.)
My husband and I are absolute food snobs...only because we LOVE & ENJOY cooking! We googled Best Soulfood in Greensboro and stumbled upon Blue Denim. I am so happy we decided to dine there because the food was absolutely delicious. Not to mention the atmosphere was on point. We started with the crawfish beignets. It is a must for an appetizer! The dipping sauce was the bomb. The crawfish fettuccine and crawfish etouffee was so damn good. Mmm mmm mmmm!!! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Greensboro.
Great food, solid pricing, friendly staff. I would eat there again for sure.
Amazing meal. Didnt even know this place existed. Friend told me about it. Great shrimp and grits!
Upscale cajun in the heart of the Elm St entertainment district. The Gumbo Yaya and crawfish etouffe are quite good. If you have a craving for Cajun spice, this is the best place in the area to go.
One of our favorite restaurants. The staff is incredible and the food is always amazing. Pictured is the crab and asparagus appetizer, the shrimp étouffée and the crawfish fettuccine. I also love the gumbo, the crawfish étouffée, the the pork shank special, and all the desserts. Everything is so good. Go immediately!
Best dining experience of 2022! The service, menu, ambiance and location are incredible. I had the Etoufee and my wife had the fettuccini. Both were amazing! Very reasonably priced also. We had the window table on a Saturday night and had a ton fun people watching during our meal.
We came to town for a concert and wanted some good comfort food. I would suggest making reservations if there is any event going on we got lucky and we’re able to be seat but a lot of people who came after us were turned away. For starters we got the crawfish beignets ( definitely a must tryI ordered the Jeansboro mule cocktail (if you like blueberries and ginger you will definitely like it).For my meal I ordered the shrimp and grits they did not disappoint the flavor was delicious! My friend got the gate city harvest salad with the vinaigrette dress which not only looked delicious but was very flavorful! Don’t forget about dessert! Last we ordered the white chocolate pecan bread pudding which definitely satisfied my sweet tooth! This cozy place gets 5 stars in my book If you are ever in Greensboro you should definitely give them a try!
Delicious. Got the shrimp and grits and an old fashioned. Overall—high quality food, proper cocktails, relaxing ambiance, and pleasant customer service. Definitely going back for the étouffée.
Amazing food a little on the spicy side. Had an absolutely amazing time. Definitely suggest getting a reservation if you want to eat here.
I been looking for a cajun spot for a while so glad i found them food was great very favorable! I got the crawfish etoufee added shrimp. Just wish the portions was larger.
From the moment you walk in your senses are delighted. The staff at Blue Denim, makes you feel like family. The food is phenomenal. We began our dinner with the beignet, followed by the Gumbo and Fettuccini. We ended the meal with Banana pudding. Which as a chocolate person, this was way better. I entrusted our server to select our meal and she was on point. I can’t say enough about this incredible establishment.
Service was great, but food is overpriced and food(shrimp, sausage, chicken quality seemed overly chewy and not of higher quality. Will not eat here and again and do not recommend.
Wish I had taken pictures of everything. Food was amazing. I had the gumbo and Hubby had the etouffee with crawfish and shout-out to our server Jennifer for recommending the banana pudding!!! Omg!!! That banana pudding brought me such joy and happiness...like...wow...just wow...why was it such a small portion?? Also had a bloody Mary that was beyond perfect. Overall, this was a swanky place, nice and intimate. Me and hubby had a few hours away from the kids and just wanted a nice meal and this did the job nicely. Jennifer our server was great as well, very polite and had a good Ora. Everything was "bussin" as my kids say. Will be back soon.
First time in Greensboro and saw this place had good reviews so decided to give it a try. It was fantastic! Everything we had was very flavorful, and delicious. The service was great. Some of the food can be a bit spicy so you may want to ask the server based on your tolerance. If Im in Greensboro again, I will definitely be back to try more things.
The more I come to this place, the more I love it! Downtown Greensboro has great places with an amazing vibe. Blue Denim is always SOLID GOOD, the quality of service, and the unique flavor of their AMAZING cajun style dishes are simply fabulous! The place is cozy with not too many tables, perfect for special occasions and for businesses dinners, I wish they were open again for lunch...Noise level is perfect, great location on Elm St to walk around downtown after a great meal. They have few outdoor tables with a very cool environment.Parking could be a challenge, so if you have an appointment, make sure to arrive 10-15 minutes before to not be late. This place is a hidden gem that I would not like to share, I know is selfish but it is really good… 100% RECOMMENDED!!!
Ok i love this place i came back from LA and couldnt find a single good cajun place. All of them were just undercover crabshacks. Service was good two servers run that dinning area like a well oiled machine. Food was top notch with 10 standard items and a couple seasonal options. Atmosphere would be good for a date/business meeting or just dinner. No i do not work here im just so happy i finally found a good cajun restaurant
I wish that there was a score of 3.5 ish! However, most of the food ordered was very tasty, but portion sizes and prices could balance a little more. My biggest disappointment was the gumbo, it was very bland with no personality, I was expecting NOLA style gumbo. Overall, good service and ambiance.RegardSara
The food was absolutely amazing. We had the Angels on Horseback as an app. For dinner we enjoyed the gumbo and ettou Fe crawfish and for desert the old fashion. The waitress was very polite. Quick without being in your face. Lovely people.
Wonderful service and Fantastic food, as always!
I absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I have become regulars! Cameron is an excellent waiter and makes the best food recommendations! Restaurant is such a cute cozy vibe and the food is *Chefs Kiss*. 10/10 recommend Blue Denim!
Wonderful service and terrific food! Shrimp was beautifully done in every dish we had: etouffee, gumbo, salad, and grits. Ive lived in New Orleans and the etouffee was as good as any I had there; the gumbo was better than any I had in NO. Well definitely be back! Highly recommended.
Probably my favorite restaurant in the triad! Ive spent a lot of time down in New Orleans over the years and am always craving authentic creole and cajun cuisine. My girlfriend and I drive out from Winston to enjoy Blue Denim. Everything on the menu is wonderfully amazing and as close to authentic as youre going to find anywhere in possibly the entire state. The chef went to school for cooking in New Orleans and has graced Greensboro with his culinary cajun prowess. Its a small dining room thats been getting progressively busier. A reservation is highly recommended, if not outright required(I went on my birthday and got turned away because we didnt realize we would need a reservation on a Wednesday). The staff is very friendly and light hearted. Chef was more than happy to converse with me when I asked to meet him. We discussed ingredients and our love for the cuisine.I can easily say, without a doubt, this will be a regular spot for date night.
Great Date night spot, Ive had the Duck Confeit, Crawfish Ettufee, Pork Shank the bread pudding best Bread Pudding Ive ever had..I really love this spot. The only reason I didnt give it a 5, cause it needs improvement in the service area, its nothing major.
The food here was amazing! From the appetizer to the entrée. We had been trying to make it to this spot for a while so we were amped up to finally make it around to trying it out, and it lived up to our expectations! Make sure you stop by and give them a try.
This small restaurant is a gem on Elm street. Service was wonderful, happy wait staff & willing to help all customers. We ate street side - lots of people watching. Traffic noise was the only issue here. The blackened catfish - scrumptious. I trued a bite of this and had a great flavor. My dish was the crawfish 🦞 etouffee was my favorite and so much in the bowl, had to get a take out dish. And it was just as good the next day.Crawfish beignets- more like hush pull-ups - could not taste crawfish. Will go back again.Reservations suggested.Dinner only - not serving lunch.
Great service, great food, and great drinks!! I ordered the Mr. Chicken which came with fried chicken, red bean puree, rice & collard calas, and collard green pesto. Every bite was full of flavor and had me wishing there was more! Would definitely come back!
Excellent service- Prickly Pear Margarita is a must try and the shrimp and grits & gumbo were excellent. As full as we were I’m glad we saved a little room for the bread pudding- amazing!
Great service, great food, beautiful atmosphere. I love it here! Such a beautiful menu full of southern charm!
Don’t let the small menu fool you. It still took forever for everyone to narrow down their selections and once we did, I don’t think anyone was disappointed. Cameron assisted us in selecting great meals and pairings. He was great!!! The food presentation was visually pleasing, but more importantly taste great. We all got something different and we all enjoyed our meals. Great location and the outdoor seating areas is a cool additive.
Great local restaurant with delicious authentic Cajun food. The service was fast, knowledgeable and friendly. The chef even came out to ask us about our meal; we were the last table in the establishment prior to closing. The establishment is highly recommend and definitely worth a visit while in Greensboro.
Seriously great food. Enjoyable, yet simple cocktails. Crawfish pasta and shrimp & grits entrees were amazing. Heirloom tomato tart appetizer is the best I’ve ever had. Naomi was an excellent server. Yes, it’s pricey, but worth it for an above average date night experience and comparable prices to other restaurants of the same caliber.
The food was phenomenal and completely worth the price. Cocktails were wonderful and the bread pudding is the best I’ve ever had. Cameron was our server and provided the best service I’ve had in a while. Extremely nice, personable, knowledgeable, and he really enhanced the experience. Anyone who likes Cajun food needs to go here, the crawfish etouffee is better than any I’ve had in New Orleans.
Dinner here was amazing. Jennifer was.my waitress and she was great! Suggested the pork and pickle appetizer special. It did not disappoint! Small portion but was perfect to share with one person (or just eat yourself). The catfish was excellent. Perfect crunch on the breading. Will come back again next time Im in town.
4.5 stars rounded up, knocked off half a star for small portion sizes for the price.Food: 5/5Fried okra, shrimp and grits, and gumbalaya were absolutely delicious. Many people also ordered the ribs which looked good.Service: 5/5Our server Naomi was fanatic, very friendly and attentive. The guy who brought out our food was also very friendly, and overall our interactions here have been great.Ambiance: 5/5Cute decor! Little candles with flowers and mood lighting later in the evening - they really lean into their “denim” aesthetic. The chalkboard menu items on the walls are a nice functional touch and I love the color scheme.
This restaurant has somewhat of romantic vibe, good to bring a date, small and quaint. However beware you may need to make a reservation but for good reason because the food is amazing!
The food was very tasty, the drinks were good and Andy the waiter was awesome, !!
I had the Crawfish Étouffée, Sprouts & Flowers, and the bread pudding on my first visit. It was all very delicious. I have been here more than a hand full of times since and it has always been a delightful experience. The Shrimp & Grits and Crawfish Étouffée are my favorite, but their Beignets, Seafood Gumbo, and Fried Green Tomatoes are always tasty as well. This is one of my top five favorite restaurants in town.
I LOVE this place. It is upscale & the service is 100% Excellent! For an Appetizer...I had tge Duck Nachos...Exquisite! Date night awesome...treat yourself & /or best girlfriend...perfect!
This was a wonderful experience for me. My father and I ate there before going to a concert at the cone denim theater. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. One note is that you should make a reservation ahead of time because they get packed and mostly prefer reservations.
