BĀO BĀO - Coffee shop in Pasir Mas, Malaysia
Had the Sen Lek Noodle Tom Yam. 10/10. Very good, love the balance of the spices with emphasis on the sour taste. I love the ambience here. Food was served fast, in about 15-20 minutes of waiting time only. If I were to point out one disadvantage, is that the lack of parking. But fret not, you can always park at the opposite side of the road. This is my second time coming here and definitely would come again!
VERY BAD SERVICE. I have to wait more than one hour. In fact customerssss after me got the food first. Plus, even drinks not given to us. After one hour it rain heavily still didnt get the food.
Nice & quiet place. Parking a bit tight at times
if you can wait nearly 1 hour go ahead,if not just skip, waited almost 1 hour for 2 item, first and last for me.
Good place for hang out with friends.Food: Delicious, takes time to be serve however worth it.Drink: Delicious coffee, not too sweet.Price: standard hipster cafe.Place: instagramable. Parking is limited.
Food ordered were superb and worth repeating. The cons of coming that day were some ceiling fans are broken and you have to deal with very limited parking space apart from traffic from main road. Service fast quite fast and place was clean.
Fine for snacking or hi-tea,, perfect food
Tried their dirty latte and cold brew, it was outstanding!
Price is affordable, the pasta goes RM15-17 only. The salted egg a bit salty for us. Food services ranging in 20 mins. Environment and the food was good. But the only one i didnt satisfied is sotong mentah and ada tulang sotong. Mood nak habiskan makanan terus takde 😀
Good food but the staffs are not friendly. That one staff didnt even smile when we were talking to her
Portions ckit then service lembab especially air...took 30 minutes kot utk sampai...harga a little bit pricey...not recommended to eat here
Good food. Tried the japanese noodle tom yum (10/10 but small servings), salted egg pasta (10/10), dumplings (8/10 because the sauce was salty for meand the fresh milk boba (LOVEEEE).But long serving time, no proper parking site, small space. But still the cafe was very aesthetics.
Overall.. a good cafe. The location is easy to find but i suggest a proper label might be helpful since it is originally a double storey terrace house. At first glimpse, looks like an ordinary private residential house. Overall atmosphere downstair is ok but upstair area need much more upgrade in term of decoration. The menus are interesting esp the black sandwich. Personally i think the size is quite small considering the price. Coffee is also ok. Waiting time also need to improve. I finished eating my small sandwich very fast and then need to wait for quite sometime for drinks/coffee.A good new cafe to try. Hopefully it can improve.
Having coffee at the Balcony of Bao Bao!
A beautiful experience. Tomyam is to die for, the beef Bao Bao is simply delicious!
The coffee is not bad. Had to wait a lil bit but was worth it. Recommended
We made a mad dash to this place after it was recommended by a local specialty coffee bar in Panji. The grinder was well calibrated resulting in a satisfying cup of coffee. We ordered hot cap and iced latte to see if the barista can live up to our expectations. She did not disappoint. Also, very thoughtfully, she served the coffee with a cup of ice and water to cleanse our palates. We went on a rainy Saturday night. The crowd slowly filled up the cafe. Having only two staff, it was quite a wait. But we didnt mind it. It was a comfortable place to lepak with the hub and child. And the coffee was worth the trip.PS: they altered the cafe logo from a boy eating bao to a boy wearing mask and making a heart sign. We need all the amusement we can get during this difficult times #covid19
Didnt explore upper level of d cafe. Most customers tht day were youngsters. Their coffee machine broken tht day so unable to get d taste of its coffee...yet. No proper place for parking
The tomyam soup is just nice, the taste very rich. They use fresh milk for Thai milk tea, not too sweet.
Love the homely vibes! The coffee is really good here too, they use good beans! Food, MUST TRY THE TOM YAM with Ramen!
The place is small and the parking is limited. Not the best place for group gatherings. I ordered ultimate tom yum extra spicy but it is not so spicy for me and the cocktail shrimps inside taste weird. The crispy chicken Bao was the best and the steam dumpling just ok. Overall, this place is just ok and it took a long time for your order to be served.
The food is excellent, generous portions and great prices. Dumplings taste great
3 dishes ,2 drinks (bubble tea and cafe latterm67well presented, cozy place , suitable for 2-3 people meeting up.
The coffee offered here are superb. Really lived up to my expectation everytime i went here. Not to forget their tom yam also was heavenly delectable.
Decided to give this place a try after my friends hype-ing me about this superb café. This cafe atmosphere is like old skool kinda place. The wall colour is black white and no vibrant color decoration. Really loves the aesthetic of this café. They dont have physical menu, you need to scan the qr code at tables for the menu. Their menu also really nicely done. Displayed the dishes together with customer review so you can get a better insight about the dishes.I ordered smoked duck bao and 4 pcs pan-fried gyoza (dumplings). THEY BOTH TASTED VERY VERY GOOD ! the dumplings are nicely cooked, juicy and flavorful fillings. Dumplings served with chilli oil which really compliment the dishes. I CANT STOP DIPPING MY DUMPLINGS INTO THE CHILLI OIL. ITS SOO GOOD ❤️❤️❤️ my regrets is not buying the 8 pcs ☹️Second dish i ordered is the smoked duck bao which is a small black bun with egg, cheese and smoked duck meat 🤤 the second my dish arrive at the table, the aroma of smoked duck tickles my nose buds. REALLY FRAGRAT. i quickly take a piece of meat and eat it just like that and BOOM ! the flavor of the duck mesmerized my tounge. Oh and it is served with crispy curly fries. Guess what ? I DIPPED MY FRIES IN THE DUMPLINGS CHILLI OIL CUZ ITS SO GOOODDDD.Do you think Im gonna come here again ? DEFINITELY YES AND GONNA ORDER 8 PCS DUMPLINGS !Trust me, this place is good 👍🏼 8/10
Authentic environment with good food. Its hard to find a good tomyam but its here.
To be fair, my 5 star rating goes to the possibly best tomyam noodle in Kota Bharu. The bau is also fantastic, so soft and unique taste. To me smoked duck aglio olio is too spicy, and salt egg pasta is quite salty above average, but still better than 97% of other so called western eateries. Cafe latte is done right, well done to the barista, you nailed it. The downside is if you come driving, you have to squeeze your ride to wherever spot possible, theres no designated parking lot. Otherwise, price is expected, rather cheaper than many other western dishes I think.
The shop is somewhat hidden. Good food, good people. Cant get over the salted butter, its rich yet very light not like most "salted butter" dish. Overall highly recommend. Will surely visit the next time im in town.
Had a good experience here. Would recommend the bun and the dumplings. So good!
The place feels like home, due to it located in a residential area. The buns there, which I interchangeably would refer them to as burgers or baos, are delicious and reasonably priced. A recommended place to hangout with friends and family.
One of the rare cafes that has a modern yet vintage identity. Loved the crews’ freestyle and casual attitude. Could’ve been better with more menu and pastry options? Great tom yum nevertheless 🤤
salted egg yolk pasta is SO GOOD ☆☆☆☆☆ the vibe is also good, vintage kinda cafe ♡ the staff also kind and friendly ☆☆☆☆☆
The ice latte is awesome and the rice they used are super delicious 🤤
Had bihun tomyam and chicken bao. they were good but small portion and a lil bit pricey, no parking space and service quite slow. Id say come at your own risk (?).
This place was SO good Im already planning my next visit. The dumplings were delicious. The chicken rendang bao was tangy and flavoursome. The beef bao and tempe bao were also really nice. Go and visit - your tummy will thank you.
As a Kelantanese myself, I didnt know this cafe until my friends introduce me too. The portion of dishes, for M size is big. Taste, good. Flavorish. Service, A+. It just around the corner of the junction, but might have limited parking space. Went on night time, while the moon was up nicely.. can choose to have outside table/terrace also has private space for groups.. so yeah, good experience. Thank you.
Coffee and tea very nice! Food and dessert also good, just the packing is a big problem
Cosy & nice place. Tried their latte & brown sugar boba milk. Both taste quite nice. Recommended 😊😊
I love their pineapple fried rice and bao crispy chicken tenders
Highly Recomended Sgt sedap, coffee sy bg 5 bintang, the food also delicious, but a little bit hot because their cafe not have aircond...hehe tq
Baos tasted great and were beautifully served.. Service was excellent. Parking can be difficult, but manageable. Very insta-worthy decor. They serve home-made soy milk. Will come again and try the coffee next time.
The best coffee in town! Pulled rendang bao tastes so good.
Extremely crowded during lunch break so if u want to eat there, dont eat during lunch hour 😆 try eat there at 3pm and above if u want ur food to arrive early. Also i tried their infamous boba fresh milk and it was heavenly its a 10 for me 💜
Combination of soft and fluffy bao with a deep fried crispy chicken is marvelous. The secret sauce add extra kick to the taste. The burnt cheesecake is so creamy. A little bit pricey. Will go here again another time.
Love the tomyum! So thick and yumsss 🤤 It’s quite pricey per bowl of tomyum but i’d say it worth it.
Food was nice but a bit pricy. Portion is quite small. Serving was very slow, will be nice if relaxing with friends or family. Friendly staff and ambient environment.
Irresistible tomyam! also, try their pulled chicken rendang steamed buns, its worth it! Parking space is hard to get tho
Nice food esp tomyam. Cozy home-like ambient. Two storey. Maybe too few tables downstairs. Bit difficult parking during peak hours
Been here for the 2nd times. Great food with great price. Cozy and warm place to chill. The staff quite friendly.
When new restaurants open in Kota Bharu, they are often similar to other, already established eateries in town. One thing you can say about Bao Bao is that there really is no place like it in KB. Its good concept--using charcoal bao as the base for a range of Asian-themed sandwiches. And some of the food was quite tasty. The vegetarian banh mi and the chicken rendang were both very flavorful. There is real potential here to be a great place. However, there were several things about our visit that could be improved. All of the sandwiches we tried were quite dry--not because they were improperly prepared, but simply because none of the ingredients provided enough moisture. So they didnt quite hold together as a truly great sandwich should. The staff were inattentive, and mostly on phones or chatting outside the whole time, so it was actually difficult to order a drink midway through the meal. And the atmosphere of the restaurant felt quite incomplete, as if they were still setting up. Maybe they were--when we went, they had only been open two weeks. But there is no reason to leave clothes drying in the upstairs rooms, where customers can see them, and the fans they had set up downstairs were not enough to keep the place cool in the early evening. Plus, the glimpse I had of the kitchen did not inspire confidence as far as cleanliness goes. All in all, an interesting place, with great potential and a creative menu, but needs a fair bit of work to earn a solid recommendation.
