Azul Paradise in Bocas del Toro

Truly horrifying. Showers don’t work. Burned our neighbor she had to leave the next day. We also wanted to get out because the conditions were so terrible - mostly the heat was overwhelming and they refuse to turn on the AC (even though on the AMEX website, they say there is AC in the rooms). They also control all boats in and out, so you are just STUCK. Temps were over 105 and there was nowhere to escape - no AC in the main offices or restaurants. The worst part is that all of this is done in the name of “eco tourism”, but it’s clear that it’s actually just “cost savings”. There is no doubt that the natural setting is beautiful and that with some attention, this place has real potential. The problem is that they want to sell this as a luxury experience, but don’t want to provide ANY accommodations that feel luxurious. After getting back to the mainland and recovering from an insane sunburn and mild heat stroke, we are okay. The hotel won’t budge; no AC, no refund. It’s clear that this hotel is in the business of tricking people into coming to a beautiful natural place but then providing a bottom of the barrel experience and falling back on a “no refunds” policy. Outrageous.

We stayed in the bungalows and we loved it! It was a bit over priced, but enjoyed the view and rain. This island is quite quiet, not many people. If you’re literally looking for a place to relax, read, and away from people this is your spot. If you want to do anything we need to jump on a water taxi n go elsewhere. The chef food was amazing and delicious! The cocktails not so much. One thing I have to mention, be careful when you’re checking out and make sure you review your bill, what you ate n what you drank. We were checking out and thankfully my husband took the time to take a look at the invoice we were handed. Our bill had a total of $800 for three days (diner, drink, breakfast). When we questioned the charges I was offended by Rigo’s response stating “how are you going to say those aren’t your charges” (in Spanish. We continued to tell him n point out the charges that were not ours. I don’t know what he did but he pulled up our correct invoice never apologized, not sure what he was trying to pull but that wasn’t cool! Our final bill was $300. Anyhow, our waiter was Orlando and Melissa the whole time we stayed there, and they were great!!! I don’t think I’ll come back here. I gave them a 3 star because I didn’t appreciate the bill situation.

People confused about post ratings. The place is a rundown ready to go out of business. The owners hv this place for sale . No manager on site no one cares is only 2 people a cook and a waiter. No food no drinks no fruits no towels in the beach overpriced like the most expensive restaurant in New York . Why anyone wants to catch a flight and spend 5000$ in a week ? U go to any Caribbean country to get ur money’s worth. People are clueless when posting reviews. In expedia they claim is sold out . We were the only couple in the whole resort. They about to go out of business

The room was OK, not so clean but okThe captain of the boat was very gentle and nice, but the restaurant is awful, the waitress didnt know how to offer better choices for vegetarian / vegan /kids menu, they dont even have the kids menu on their table, The last day I discovered that they have kids menu! Just guessing 😩😩😩anyway the food is not worth for the prices.The menu is so short that I must eat 2 same meals 2 days in a row...

Absolutely AMAZING place! Beautiful, just like the photos. My husband and I honeymooned here from end of June through early July 2021. It is surf season and not their typical tourist season during the summer so the resort was quiet and peaceful. Tony was the best - helped us book all the excursions we could ever want! Saw dolphins, birds, sloths, stingrays, starfish, nurse sharks, and plenty of fish! We booked the bungalow which had the most stunning view Ive ever seen. Staff was helpful, kind, and all around amazing. Food was great, beach & water was beautiful, weather was perfect. If youre looking for a typical, cookie cutter Sandals resort, this isnt it. This is a little slice of paradise on a practically deserted island in the Caribbean and could not be more perfect. My husband and I are laid back beach & adventure lovers and this was by far the best resort for that!

My wife and I had an amazing time here at Azul celebrating our honeymoon! All of the employees and locals are super nice and very accommodating to your needs from check in to check out! The food in the restaurant was memorable, that chef definitely has skill. He would come out and chat with us to see how everything was going. Melisa, Josefa, geronimo, Tony, the captain and ofcourse Jordano were exceptional! A visit to the community is a must! If you just want to stay on the island there is so many things to do, or you can go visit the zapetilla islands, visit the star island, dolphin watch, sloth watching, scuba diving, kayaking, ect.. Bring bug spray! Those Chitras(sand fly)will tear you up. God willing, we will be back early next year!

We really enjoyed our stay at Azul Paradise. Best thing we did in Bocas is to stay here and enjoy life. No cell signal, but there is wireless internet.I would come back here again for sure. Mikey and Tony along with others are amazing hosts who made sure that we were informed and enjoyed everything that Azul Paradise had to offer. Really good food and fresh. Enough equipments to venture into the waters. So much marine life that I did not need my snorkel mask as I just stood and walked around watching so many marine life.Nice little tours where we got to see the mangroves, Dolphins, Sloths and other animals. Azul is away from Bocas Town so you wont get disturbed by the lights or sounds.We met fellow vacationers who got water bungalow near Bocas town, they could not sleep due to the night life, constant noise of boats (no marine life due to all the boats), excess lights and they somehow ended up here for the last two days. They were happy and sad that they did not find this place earlier.

Expensive but extremely beautiful and definitely a once in a lifetime experience

Bad service, no wifi, no air condition .... we paid 400 US dollars for nothing! Asked for help about the problems we faced! No answer! I do not recommend this place

Recently stayed at the hotel on the island, it was very disappointing. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone was at reception. Took several efforts to retrieve password as no one seemed to know it. The room looked like it was still under construction. No safe in the room. The A/C was not working properly had to call the receiptionist (when someone was actually there). No hot water. The bathroom ceiling looked like it was falling apart already. THE WORST PART WAS THAT BETWEEN 11PM AND 4 AM THE MUSIC FROM NIGHT CLUB BESIDE THE HOTEL WAS SOOO LOUD OUR BED SHOOK. Yes, not one ounce of sleep to be had. I must say there was one very nice gentlemen in the evening who was very helpful to help us lock our bikes in the back so they were safe for the night (that was why they got a two star)

Azul Paradise is exactly as the name suggests; a paradise. The multi-island experience gave us the opportunity to discover 2 very different, yet equally awesome, getaways. Azul Paradise on Isla Bastimentos is made for people wanting to detach and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city. It provides the utmost in relaxation and tranquility. The food is INCREDIBLE, the views are great, and the water is ‘azul’. There is nothing more relaxing than having a good coffee in a hammock right off the deck of your private balcony listening to the waves crash into the shore. You can snorkel, surf and kayak in the calm waters as the resort provides you with all the necessary equipment. The staff is amazing, we had so much fun with them. The rooms were beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Highly recommend this resort and we will definitely be going back! - Jenna & Anthony

Just got back from four days and three nights at this wonderful place. Friendly and attentive staff, great food, and the scenery was breathtaking.We stayed in Casa Verde. The views from our windows were amazing. It was nice to have a full kitchen, although we only used the fridge. The house has filtered water. We couldnt figure out how to get the satellite tv to work and wifi really didnt work in the house, but it was nice to just disconnect for a minute. There was a DVD player and one of the staff members let us borrow his personal DVD collection so we could watch a movie after a long day out in the sun.We traveled with our two little ones. There was a small playground next to our house, which our kids enjoyed.Our days were full. They offer paddle boats, kayaks, and paddle boards with your stay. We just jumped from one activity to another. We also did a snorkeling excursion (highly suggest leaving as early as possible before the snorkeling spots get crowded). We also did a trip to the village, which we also recommend.When we booked we were a little concerned about the food options as we had read some mixed reviews. We didnt do the meal plan. We purchased from the menu. Each plate was a nice sized portion. Food was delicious. Best ceviche ever!We did stop by one of the supermarkets in Bocas del Toro before getting on the boat to Azul to pick up snacks and juices. I highly suggest doing this.When we left we were able to store our bags at their sister hotel in Bocas del Toro, which made it possible for us to explore the town before hopping on the plane back to Panama City.

We only went to the restaurant. It had very poor service, the waiter did not bring us cutleries with the food. The food was overpriced for what you got. In the end they did not even have change and it took more than half an hour to finally pay. Not recommendable even if the view is very nice.

I don’t even know where to begin. Wonderful accommodations, wonderful service, and wonderful people. The tours were excellent. There was plenty to do or not do... whatever you choose. Beautiful , surreal and the food was superb! By far the best experience I’ve had and I look forward to coming back again.

My husband and I stayed at Azul for our 5 year anniversary trip and it was nothing short of amazing! We stayed in an over the water bungalow and it was so beautiful! All the workers were so welcoming and the managers, Nelson, Tony and Charlene were very accommodating and attentive to our needs. The owner, Don, was very personable. He always went out of his way to check on the guests. He is a very down to earth guy. The food and drinks were to die for and the beaches/views were breathtaking! Not only was our vacation amazing, we left with new friendships and memories we will never forget! Thanks Azul paradise for making our trip unforgettable!

Stayed in the deck view bungalow (middle onewith my wife ... totally worth it. The hotel was full with guests but we always had our privacy, tons of excursions, beach activities and nice meals. We absolutely loved it and want to go back one day!!

Hi! We have a terrible experience with your hotel right now and nobody is helping us. Tony says he cannot help. Please, somebody pay attention and help.We paid for a sea-view bungalow through booking but we were put in a deck view bungalow. It would be ok BUT we travel with two kids. And the deck view bungalow is super loud. Kids can’t sleep during the day and during the night. And so we cannot sleep as well. Management just says they have nothing to do about it.Hope someone will help us...

Terrible service! Booked a vacation there. The resort offered me to purchase local airline tickets from Panama and then they disappeared. They reached me by WhatsApp and then they stopped replying to my emails and to WhatsApp as well.If I knew that the service will be like that right from the beginning I wouldve never book this resort the first place.Most likely I will have to cancel this booking.Strongly recommend to stay away.

El sitio es idílico y cuando nosotros estuvimos el hotel tenia pocos clientes y parecía que la isla fuera para ti solo. Nosotros estuvimos ocho personas en una casa en primera linea de playa, con unas vistas excelentes. La casa muy espaciosa, limpia y las habitaciones grandes y con camas cómodas, todas las habitaciones tenían tanto aire acondicionado como ventiladores de techo. La cocina de la casa muy espaciosa pero le faltaban utensilios de cocina y de limpieza, que teniendo en cuenta como se llega al hotel en mi opinión podían tener algún estropajo o bayeta mas, para que al terminar de comer pudieras dejar todo limpio. La playa del hotel preciosa y la piscina en la orilla del mar pequeña, pero hacia su función y las vistas desde la misma eran relajantes y muy bonitas. Tenias hamacas, tumbonas y sofás dispuestos a la orilla del mar, cómodos pero algo destartalados y viejos. Tenias a tu disposición kajak y paddle surf que cogías cuando querías y venían muy bien para distraerte. La última noche la pasamos en una de las cabañas en medio del mar, que tienen aire acondicionado y ventiladores de techo, son bastante amplias, con camas muy cómodas, baños limpios, vistas preciosas y con todas las comodidades.Si tengo que ponerle algún pero al hotel es que me dio una pequeña sensación de dejadez, como que le faltaba arreglar pequeños desperfectos o detalles, quiero pensar que es por que estaban en temporada baja y lo pondrán al 100% antes de llegar una temporada de más ocupación.Los traslados desde Bocas de Toro a Bastimento tanto a la llegada y salida del hotel fueron gratuitos y nos dieron la posibilidad de si no llegábamos a la última barca el día de llegada, quedarnos en su hotel de Bocas.La cena en el hotel rica pero escasa para el precio.Te dan la posibilidad de hacerte la compra y traértela en barca sin coste de gestión.

Staff is very kind and helpful. The house I had stayed in had a lot of problems, gas for stove didn’t work till we went behind the stove and fixed it, the tv didn’t work, shower barely worked, no WiFi for ac only useable during 10am to 6pm. 500 dollars a night not really worth it. It’s very pretty and there are kayaks, paddle boards and surf boards, the pool for a overpriced resort is as tiny as the bathtub in my room.

AMAZING. This is a special place. A place to relax and a place to feel closer to the world around us. Marty and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. WARNING: This place is not a tourist trap. It is a real slice of paradise. My wife and I came here for our honeymoon, and from the time we got off the airport in Bocas Town until our last night the resort absolutely exceeded expectations. What really sets this haven aside from other places is the staff. Anyone can throw a beach resort together; they all look very similar. Tony and Jesus, along with the others, set the bar for accommodating, friendly, sincere personnel. We didnt hear the word "no" once for the entire trip. They 5took care of every request. They also know their environment. They helped us pick excursions according to our interests; picked the best times to go, which days to go on, tracked the weather for us, and ensured that my life and I would have the trip of a lifetime. Aside from the staff, the resort itself is probably one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. To top it all off; the Chef is truly 5 Star. Each dinner we had could easily compete on Iron Chef. Dont hesitate to come here, its an experience you shouldnt miss!!!

We spent a week on Azul Paradise and paradise it was for us! We went with a group of 20 which is never easy to coordinate. Paradise Azul made it effortless for us all to book with them.From the minute we arrived we were welcomed with a colorful array of drinks. All our rooms were well appointed over the water bungalows. We had a west facing room and it was perfect! The beds were so comfy and offered a beautiful sunset view.The food was spectacular. Every night we had many choices of fish, lobster, beef or pasta. Breakfast was served at your time schedule and was served with a beautiful view of the water.Everyday was filled with fabulous activities from surfing, fishing, snorkeling, standup paddle, kayaking,dolphin watching or just a visit into town for shopping.This would be a great place to get married or like us have an amazing birthday celebration with all your besties!

Paradise Azul, was magical. The place is amazing, the staff is great. We went in July for a quick trip to Bocas del Toro, we are a family of 4. With 2 being teens. Although we went on low season, meaning we practically had the place to ourselfs, we really had a peaceful beautiful, time there. They provide everything you need to explore the beaitiful beachpaddle board, surf boards, snrkle gear, tours, water taxi to get to town, and a spectacular views from every possible spot. We went to starfish island to snorkle which was about 20mins from there, and the experiance was wow. This is a must place to visit for a calming spot to just relax and truelly get away from the hustle and bustle of day to day anywhere. Love it! The chef...wow us with every meal and the staff, was so sweet and accomodating. Thanks to Paradise Azul. We cannot wait to go back. Love how eco friendly it is there too. Absolutley beautiful.
