One of the oldest cafe’s in Varanasi. When Cafe was not a famous word, the Ayyar’s came into picture. Originally founded and started by South Indian. It’s origin is older than 1953(date mentioned.Best known for South Indian foods and filter coffee. Friendly staff and owners. The quality of food needs an upgrade & it lacks a little freshness. Cost is still not as high as other South Indian joints but be sure to spend around 200 for 2 person.Sharing some pictures, I have liked the place as it still gives you an old feel. In the midst of such crowded place you find this calm place.

The place is very old. The ambience feels like it is from grandpa times...but i mist say d food is tasty ,it has authentic south indian taste + price is very reasonable ...

I really adore this restaurant! If you are a foodie person, just go straight inside the restaurant. The menu is totally veg and very delicious. They even have some dishes other than the South indian ones. I tried pav bhaji and it was really very delicious. I m a big fan of the restaurant!

This cafe is really fabulous they serve very tasty dishes like idli with green chatni and shambhar, dal bada and also upma and some more dishes they are very kind , the workers and their serving is very fast their behavior is also very good , I love to be there at the time when I have to eat some lite food ,yeah its a good place to eat lite food.

Just love the masala dosa... After many days i got the actual taste of south indian dosa.. Will be visiting again for sure.

I have been to this place many times since childhood. You can try South indian thali, masala dosa, idli. I like potato chop and mix veg pakoda. The filter coffee is good too. Value for money.

Never tasted home food so accurately tasting like home food. Very reasonably priced , place is a minimal, so you will appreciate the place for food alone.

Simply best South Indian food in the city

If you want to avoid local oily food then this the place. Can get simple food like IDLY, POHA. Mutter Chop is one it’s star dish. Take only Hot food to avoid contamination.

Very ordinary. Dosa was fine but sambhar chutney were very poor in taste. Curd river is also very disappointing. Try peas chop or gobhi pakode. Dont expect authentic south indian taste.

Quality deteriorating :price increasing day by day: One of the counter gentlemans behaviour not acceptable.They will not serve u Coffee in busy time, though it is costlier than the mkt.

Very average restaurant. I had Rava dosa which was quite pathetic I must say. Most people there didnt enjoy the food. People come here because they like south indian food such as masala dosa etc. They dont even have Pongal.
