Classic Turkish fare & drinks with cozy, rustic interiors & exposed brick, fit for large parties.
Really great restaurant with a busy atmosphere, staff are friendly and attentive and the food is always excellent. Highly recommended!
Food and staff really nice would highly recommend this place to eat
Great atmosphere and food was delish. It was rich so maybe another texture.
Firstly, dont be put off by the average atmosphere score. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime; only us and two other tables had customers so there was little atmosphere at that time... Not an issue though. We were sat in the front of the restaurant in the conservatory, and it was a warm sunny October weekend so it was quite warm, but bright and pleasant all the same. There were 5 of us and we had one of the mixed sharing platters which was very nice and plenty for four, and I had the Sucuk Sausage... Really good! If you like Merguez its like that but fatter and made of beef. So good in fact, Ive since bought my own for home.Mains were shish, chicken, lamb, beef, mixed etc served with rice, curly fries optional (who can resist?etc. We had 2 baklava, which we expected to consist of a few small bitesize pieces but were in fact 2 small pizza slice sized pieces (so goodthat had loads of pistachios and so sweet... With vanilla ice cream. We also had some Turkish coffee that my wife swirled around and discovered to her cost why you should never do that to Turkish coffee. It was served in very ornate cups.Good value for money with a bottle of wine and some soft drinks thrown in. We enjoyed ourselves.Worth a visit.
Love this place, something for everyone. Got serious holiday vibes!
Nice looking place but very pricey for somewhere that has paper sachets for salt and pepper on each table. Only really seen this in lower end cafes. Food was ok but price didn’t match the quality.
Fantastic place for a party on a Saturday with live music and dancing.
A very fun place to visit our table of 7 was squeezed onto a table of 6 a bit of a squash but restaurant was full. We had booked in advance. Drinks order taken, took 30 minutes no soda water on tap bottles only,, table water by the glass a Jug would be nice. very difficult to find a meal for the vegan in our group. Food was tasty but small portions. Friday night there was a singer very good entertainment but very loud as a group we couldnt hear each other talk frustratingly. Table booked for 8 meal on table over an hour later. Still an enjoyable evening.
The food was amazing and the live music was excellent I would recommend this restaurant to everyone .
Very delicious and beautifully presented food. Kind wait staff. Absolutely beautiful ambience and nice music. Millie is a great server!
Beautiful place. Delicious food. Great service. Will be back very soon. Thank you.
Absolutely outstanding, the food, the music, the staff, everything was perfect
Great service and amazing food as always. Our waiter Can, got a birthday shout out from the singer.Great upbeat vibe on a Friday night but if you are looking for a more chill quieter vibe, mid week is a great choice.
Went early evening, it was quite quiet. Large menu, decent portions and I enjoyed the food.
Food was absolutely amazing! The Best sea bass ive eaten!
Very good place to eat. Meat was nice and tender. Highly recommended.
Fabulous evening of good food, friendly staff and amazing entertainment by Gemma. Superb
Quick, efficient service by friendly staff. Food very good. Well prepared and presented. Generous helpings as we suspected so only had main course. (Chefs chicken kebab and mixed kebab).
Excellent food, great staff and lots of space
The staff are wonderful! The live music from Paulo was fantastic. The food is excellent! Highly recommended.
Wow what an amazing place! Live music by an incredible singer who played all the favourites! Brilliant attentive staff who were singing happy birthday to many of the tables including ours for our friend. Food was absolutely delicious, nicely paced, didn’t feel rushed and overall a great experience. If you’re looking for a meal out with friends or something a bit different from your average meal out with your partner then I would definitely recommend. Music is loud which we LOVED but not suitable if you’re looking for a quiet chat 🤣
Amazing food at AYO’s highly recommended. Always great customer service and can’t wait to go back, definitely one of our favourite restaurants in St Albans
Great food and good staff. Will be dining there again soon.
I did not expect to find Turkish food as tasty as any in Finsbury Park out in Hertfordshire, but I was pleasantly mistaken. The Anatolian Adanas were to die for, as was the bread.
Great atmosphere and waiting staff are amazing and so helpful. Great evening out with fabulous food and live music
Love it here so much, food is always amazing only slight personal criticism is rice isnt great. I hate peas and sweetcorn and the rice is full of them, pls make an alternative spicy rice without peas and sweetcorn 😋. Apart from that absolutely fantastic
I heard good things about this place. On my visit the service was nice and the restaurant was charming. However, I thought the food was under-whelming. Considering I thought the food was somewhat mediocre, on reflection, I think the restaurant is over priced.
100% recommend.Me and my boyfriend visited yesterday we had octopus and calamari as mains the food was so amazing and the service was excellent, the waiters made sure everything was great on our table and they were so kind. The restaurant was so clean and the decoration was amazing. Will definitely visit again.
Decent food, not amazing. The Calamari was chewy. Portions were on the smaller side. Not quite sure it fits the prices.Staff were excellent and they fit us in despite us messing up our booking.
First time here after 15 years living in snorbs. Beautiful interior design, the lighting really sets the place off. It feels cosy but also luxurious and trendy (in a nice way). The place was buzzing but relaxed and there are plenty of waiting staff keeping on top of everything, although my cocktail arrived well after the rest of the table drinks and only after asking. The menu is standard Turkish and done well. We had the halloumi, beetroot and baba ganoush starters with Pitta. Everything was fresh and tasty. I had a lamb kebab with a delicious fresh salad. I would return for the food for sure but the music and karaoke were so loud I couldnt hear myself think let alone hear the conversation at my table. That and the lights were turned down or off (?in increments through the night - we had to find solitary shafts of light so that we could read the menu. Is it a club, is it a restaurant? I would have given this restaurant 5 stars otherwise as the food was delicious.
A lovely family run restaurant.Lots of lovely choices for food, very difficult to choose as I loved pretty much most of the menu..lolWhat I did know, was a wanted something different, something I hadnt tried before, I order octopus...wow! Amazing! So flavoursome. Id go back for the octopus. The food was deliciousService was great, the food came out quickly and we got to see the chefs cook, which was fun.
Been here many times. We hired the restaurant for a party. The staff are wonderful and worked so hard to make it the great evening it was. The live music from Paulo was fantastic. The food is always excellent with a huge choice of lovely dishes. Highly recommend
Amazing food and excellent service. The staff made sure that we were well looked after even though there were a large number of us. All of the food arrived together and at the right time. We will definitely be going back. Thanks Ayos!
Had a 6pm booking, all was good, service was good, food was great but was very surprised that by 7:15 we were offered coffee by the manager but no sweet menu. He said our table was booked for 7:30, so effectively can you leave as soon as possible. After a evening that was going so well, it ended on a slightly sour note. Hence only 3 stars.More than a little disappointed as were were planning to return until point.
OMG! Why haven’t I heard about this place before! Food is delicious, yeah a bit pricey, but if you go on a Friday night, with the live music, it turns into a party night, absolutely amazing! Can’t recommend this place enough. Will definitely be going again!
The portions seem small but the food quality is really good and fulfilling. The staff was patient even when my daughter changed her mind twice about the drink she wanted. The price is high but it reflects the quality of the food
The food was amazing! Everything we got (takeawaywas delicious!Chicken kebab with yogurt, falafel, haloumi, yaprak sarma. ALL GREAT! Well done for the great flavours.
Went here last night for a birthday meal, the atmosphere was great. They had live entertainemnt which created a great vibe for everyone to enjoy. The food was delicious and great value for money.Ive given it 4 starts instead of 5 because it was a tad bit loud for me as I was still dining and could barely conversate with the person opposite me. It was also pretty cold as the door kept being left open when people went out to smoke of speak on the phone.Despite the noise and the cold I would definitely recommend and revisit.
I ordered Adana Kebab which is minced lamb meat. The very first bite had a bone in it and it did split my tooth in half. You can imagine the pain of un expected tiny bone while eating. Anyhow I could not eat and asked to pack for take away.Manager asked why you dint eat , upon explaining,he says “ Adana Kofta always has bones” which is not true. You can not expect bones in mince meat kebabs.I paid £18 for this dish and £50 in total. On top of it had to pay the dentist for emergency tooth removal and I am not happy at all.Upon checking the whole kebab had 12 bones in it !!!!!
Food was spot on. Amazing, bit pricey but amazing.Service however, not so great. Lovely people, but they were very very slow. There was a lot of waiting around for orders to be taken etc when the waitress seemed to be standing around a lot and we had to call people over multiple time. Not to mention they automatically added service charge onto the bill. Dont get me wrong, I aways leave a tip, but I not a fan of when restaurants are so humble to assume and add it on themselves. But as I said, cannot fault the food so hope to assume we got an off night.
Ayos restaurant offers Turkish and Kurdish dishes. Generous portions of starters (photoand mains. Fast and friendly service. Bonus: nice view from the terrace. Thank you!
A beautiful Turkish restaurant in St Albans near the train station. I got the falafel, which tasted amazing and was a good portion for the price. Like many traditional Turkish restaurants they served free bread with our meal. I came on a Friday night where they had a live singer which was brilliant. A great restaurant to go with family and friends.
Very nice food and restaurant. Staffs are polite and kind. Open late. We enjoyed vegitarian dishes :)
Been trying to pop in here for a while, and glad I did. Food and service were excellent! Best Turkish restaurant I’ve been to, and that’s quite a few. Thanks guys.
Superb food. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the Adana kofte tender and very tasty. Good selection of drinks and good service.
Great venue with a nice vibe. We were about 15 mins early but theyd reserved the table for me so sat down straight away. The kofta with the chilli dip was a highlight. We probably over did it ordering 3 starters to share as they were really filling (prawns & halloumi & mushrooms). The side bread was a little dry and should have come with a dip or something. Then we had the mixed chicken and lamb skewers. Service was generally good and the staff were great as well. Slight niggle is that there is only one M & F toilet cubicle which for its size, so you end up queuing a lot.
This is my husband’s go to place when he craves Turkish food. Honestly the first time I went I was not impressed the chicken and lamb kebabs were dry and the hummus was very runny. But I changed my mind after my second visit here with my parents. They seemed to really stepped up their game or my first time was just a bad experience. We ordered the baba ganoush, hummus and cucuk for appetiser. And special chicken with yoghurt sauce, another chicken it’s tomato sauce and Adana kofte with tomato sauce for mains. All the food was very good. The chicken and lamb was super juicy! Would definitely visit again soon.
Amazing! I really liked the atmosphere there and the restaurant was presented beautifully. I liked the addition of the open lamps and I liked being able to see the chefs preparing the food. Its much bigger than it looks and its quite spacious. It wasnt busy when I went there (around 2 oclockbut I can imagine that it would be quite full in the evenings. The customer service was excellent and we were served quickly and efficiently. They give you olives and flatbread straight away and top it up as you go. They had a really nice Turkish tea which I had and would totally recommend. First I ordered a hot starter platter, which has various things on it including the calamari. I then went for a fish kebab which had various different fish on it including the octopus which I could have eaten just by itself. The entire thing was balanced perfectly and it was really delicious. For desert I had baklava which was also really yummy. In summary, the restaurant is great for an evening or a lunch out. It has a nice atmosphere and customer service was great.
Really good food. I had mixed shish and the quality of the meat was very good. Salad had a nice dressing and the portion was good. Service was good and we got served quickly. The starters were good too and the bread and olives that come at the begining were also very fresh and nice.
Spacious interior with some outdoor seating. The food was good and well presented though priced a little on the high side. Server was friendly and helpful but a bit the fastest
