Good quality of food and nice catering service
Hi guys,I am really quite disappointed with our Mother’s Day high tea. We arrived at 1.30 for our booking and did not receive any service (not even wateruntil 2.10pm when we received two cups of coffee and did not receive tea. About 2.20 our lunch was received. We asked for hot water for my mum and partner to have a cup of tea. They said yes and never came back. We asked again and got told they would return.. they never showed up. Finally for a third time by father went to the bar and asked for the hot water. The bar lady was lovely and came straight away. Then we asked for water and he never came back with the jug once again so we ended up getting up and retrieving the jug ourselves. We received one apology from a young man who was a waiter saying that Ayer’s house was extremely understaffed for the day. I’m sorry guys but that burden should not fall on your poor wait staff or customers paying $300+ for a table. Covid has been a thing for a long time and you’ve been booking for months, sort it out.Honestly, this wasn’t cheap and I was really looking forward to doing something lovely for mum. This just was not up to standard and fair on anybody.
MoreWe had our wedding reception in The Conservatory and it was absolutely beautiful! Staff were so lovely in the lead up and on the day. The food was also spectacular!
MoreWow an High Tea experience of a kind that yourll only get once in your lifetime...maybe two if your lucky. Five star service & hospitality. An ever lasting memory for me personally........come see for urself also theres carparking on the premises.......
MoreWas one of the best High teas in town...just luv the Crockery....very stylish
Went for a birthday party. Cant complain. No ramp at main entrance. Have to take some entrance
MoreWe had a Christmas party in the ball room in Ayers house in November where I always wanted to visit. We were originally booked a sitting area outdoor. Due to cancelation we were moved in the ball room which we were compliant with.Walked in the ball room we realized that our group has been separated to 2 different tables. We understand with all the COVID restrictions and try to arrange everything happening in the festival season. It would be good if discussion prior rather than a surprise.I was sitting at the 2nd table where I could barely see my food, the dull light really not appetizing. The food was great taste, the services were fantastic that I have experienced. The proportion of the food is small.I will suggest for the view. Maybe think twice before book a major event.
MoreWe attended a group christmas party event in November 2021. Nicole was our event manager. Overall it was an absolute disaster, the food was minimal , the ballroom was depressing with no Christmas decor/ atmosphere. On the night of the event this was addressed with the bar staff. The DJ was playing music from CDs and required constant direction. Despite our complaints we never heard from Nicole. A colleague emailed Nicole to voice our complaints in writing, Nicoles response was dismissive and not even apologetic which was very shocking as the events manager. We paid $135 pp.Ayers house is overaly priced and we will never attend another event here again .I have since spoken with other people and they have experienced a similar experience. Not acceptable.
MoreA fantastic Christmas Party held for the Vaccination Nurses at Noarlunga in a Marquet on the grounds of Ayers House. Food and Service was Excellent. Band was entertaining. Fantastic Atmosphere 🙂
MoreDidnt go inside Ayers house, we had a marquee tent on the front lawn. The food was very good. Staff were very friendly. Everyone had a great night.
MoreStaff need training, gave vegetarians meat and gluten-free people gluten.. mistakes happen just need to be more aware.
MoreUneven floors, not good for heal wearing individuals. Food portions tasty but too small.
MoreFrom start to finish what a great place to have your wedding,Hayley and Mitch thank you for . sharing your day with us at Ayres House and thank to all the.staff well done
MoreNo matter how old you are make this your next Adelaide tour stop. Always a delight to go back in time and appreciate the rich history. We were welcomed with big smiles and enjoyed our self-tour
MoreThoroughly enjoyed this historic important location, fun for all ages and beautiful beyond expectation.
MoreWe just had Christmas in July at Ayers House and it was full of Christmas magic! The food was fantastic- particularly the barramundi though everything was delicious and the service was very friendly, timely and not intrusive. Great atmosphere, value for money and location. I’ll definitely be back for future events!
MoreWe had a lovely three course meal at Ayers house for Xmas in July. The food was top notch and the staff were lovely. Looking forward to our next meal there.
MoreThe female server we had wasnt friendly and had this "annoyed" look through out the night and kept on telling us what to do like "can you please sit now?" like wotttt???!! never met a server like that, quite abrupt and direct, otherwise food was excellent and beautiful place and the rest of the crew was exceptional. Thanks
MoreThe venue is beautiful and the food is delicious but not good service. I attended an event last night and we paid for 3 courses menu but they only serve 2 courses. And we also paid for 3 hours drinks after the 3 hours they took all the wine bottles and even our drinks in the glasses that they already serve to us, that was very disappointing and when we asked they said that the 3 hours time was already up even though they had already serve those drinks some up to 30 minutes prior. Advertised as 4.5 stars but with that kind of service I could only give them 1 star- very disappointing!
MoreThe age of the house and how beautiful it is is just amazing. Great candle light tour!
MoreExcellent food, excellent service. Bad chairs. Nice place to eat at. Uncomfortable access to toilets.
MoreBeautiful location and rooms. Friendly if a little harried staff. Food let them down. Unfortunate as we had been really looking forward to it.
MoreRecently attended a high tea here for a family member and I cant compliment the venue enough. Friendly and attentive staff, excellent food and beautiful surrounds. Very impressed!
MoreThank you so much to Trish for sharing history of house and owners, very interesting and great to connect a few dots.
MoreGorgeous venue, lots of flowers and greenery, complimented by deep green wood/iron structural elements. Fairy lights provide gorgeous ambience. Attended a wedding here and it was all gorgeous
MoreBeautiful establishment, very tasty, delicious food, and the staff were very professional. I rate Ayers House highly.
MoreStaff were exceptional! Food was very high quality. Beautiful location.
We held our wedding in the brasserie and its was exactly what we wanted - the space is so beautiful on its own, you dont have to do much to it to dress it up. The staff were friendly, great to work with, made bump in and bump out easy and the entire event low fuss. The food was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Love that the venue stays open til midnight so you dont have to leave the party early!
MoreWas lucky enough to attend a wedding here a few weeks ago and it was simply magical - the food was just incredible.
MoreLovely place to host an event. The staff were very attentive .
Amazing food, awsome staff. Just a good place
Wonderful food and service!
Staff were fantastic, food was great, wine was great. Parking was $16 for the whole day, right on site.
MoreA visual joy to visit Ayers house. Have visited 3 times, admired the elegance of the interior every time. The most recent was at night, attending the event of History Festival
MoreThere was no high end whiskey offered just cheap wine and chardonnay. I Expected better. The food and venue was 5 stars though.
MoreWe attended a family Wedding here recently. Everything was fabulous except it was hot. If there was any air- conditioning, it didnt work. Fortunately during the reception you could go outside for some fresh air.
MoreIm a regular visitor as a member of the Torrens Beefsteak and Burgundy Club. Food and service are consistently top notch. Inventive menus and a historic venue make for a special day.
MoreReally amazing venue and incredible food
Had a work function here. Fantastic night menu is great, very tight for room but a great place for a function.
MoreAyres House, what a gem this place is. Truly this house is a glimpse not just into colonial 19th Century Adelaide but into how wealthy colonists lived in Australia as a whole. While we were visiting Adelaide we found the Age of Elegance exhibition was showing at Ayres House. This exhibit showcased not just the elegant gowns that were worn in the 19th century but also childrens wear and everyday clothing. Upstairs can also be found all the sundry paraphernalia that went with high society back then.We spent a wonderful couple of hours there.
MoreHistoric house with a great story. Really good condition. National trust.
As a wedding guest, I think the Atrium Greenhouse at Ayres house is about as good as it gets for a gathering of about 100 people. For a non crowded sit down meal, the decor, food & service are all spot on!
MoreVery disappointing menu. No butter for those who dont like oil on their bread which wasnt fresh. Starters were good, but share plate. main course was alternate drop, the steak was blue & the chicken was dry. Dessert was ok but also a share plate. The band was pretty ordinary but ok. Included a drinks package which you needed to get through the night. In a marquee on a cold night, wasnt ideal. Those who paid the full $120 would have to feel ripped off.
MoreWent to 70th birthday party. Food was delicious. Staff very helpful. Selection of drinks good. Could not fault this venue.
MoreGood food. Really nice venue. Giving it five stars because the staff were amazing.
MoreCouldnt fault their service. Great facilities suited our function. Coordinator was really helpful and made sure all our needs were looked after.
MoreTo say i was disappointed would be an understatement. From rude, obnoxious staff to underwhelming food. When someone pays exorbitant prices per head i would say you made a killing. Not enough food to feed quite of number of people, unless you count the numerous bowls of bloody salad which would cost bugger all to make, everything else was made of some kind of tasteless mince either chicken pork or lamb which again was cheap and nasty. My so called pulled pork slider was missing the pork so pinched half from someone else. Shouldnt have bothered. One tray of scallop canapes came out none offered to the people who were sat. Obviously they are too expensive for all to taste. Your staff were slow and unfriendly bar two who were pleasant. Your bearded waiter was so bloody rude to my partner it nearly came to blows. I suggest you send certain waiting staff for retraining, but that might be to expensive seeing as you cut costs on the food and professional staff. Drinks took ages to come around and having to line up at the bar to get a refill as staff didnt seem to be bothered. I feel for future guests if this is what they will recieve. Maybe you should have a staff meeting and change chefs.
