Avon Valley National Park - National park in Perth, Australia
We stayed at the Cec Barrows campground. It’s the second time we’ve stayed there for a training camp. The area is great however the campsite needs a little work e.g. Fire pits upgrade. There’s shower rooms there but they don’t work and seem to have been out of action for a while. The staff are always friendly and I understand they’ll be upgrading the area soon. Cec Barrow would be happy to hear that as from the stories sounds like he took great care of the place. Take care with the gravel roads especially if you have a caravan or aren’t used to driving on gravel and slopes. There was a car accident just outside our campsite, everyone was ok.
Amazing views and heaps of places to camp and go bush walking
Quite a nice National Park with lots of wild flowers. Car GPS took us completely bush and ended up on a track that was 4WD only and not suitable for my SUV so that is something to watch out for but other than that the scenery was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Amazing views!
Excellent campsite area, fellow campers were friendly, quiet and mindful of others. We got a fire going and had some snags, would love to come back and visit the national park during the day.
The national park is just too good. The gushing water streams just sound so relaxing and chill. The wildlife is just fascinating and cool. The train tracks just make this place a awesome place to be here. You can camp here and no one will bother you, as it is private land camping. I recommend getting a fire going, just too good man.
Visited here for lunch, great spot, the access road from the main entry is 10km of dirt road. Then a fork either splitsleft to the Bald Head lookout or right to the Avon Valley. The Lookout has great views of the valley. Multiple campsites in the park with drop toilets and basic wood BBQs. Gets chilly in winter. Park entry is $15 standard for National Parks.
Wonderful place for camping after 3 times visiting. Bald Hill and Drummond camping site got a weak mobile signal so at least you can use it while other campsites has no signal. Valley site is one of best personally as I felt in the middle of forest between trees and grasses but also others are good. I’ve camp here 3 times and always never regret. Very recommendable for 1-2 nights for weekend as the place is quite close (80km, 1.50hfrom Perth CBD.
Beautiful place to spend weekend with family.
Nice place...but more walking trails would have made it so much better. Good camp grounds.
Picture perfect bush camping, dirt road in is about 10kms of unsealed roads and there is heaps to explore and just an hour from Perth.
Great scenery and amazing views. Lively atmosphere and local places like bakeries and public seating. Great for a road trip or to go camping for a night or two.
I went camping with a group and spent the night here.. What a peaceful place looking over the valley. We camped at Bald hill.. Theres a long drop toilet here, a few fire pits, and a covered barbeque table area.. Quite a few people can camp here without it looking too commercial.
Beautiful spot! Sunrise and sunset were magic. Big rocks for the kids to explore. Didn’t get to walk to the river so we’ll be back. Long drop dunny was...
Good place to get away for the weekend, only a 1 he drive from Perth , plenty of walk trails to keep busy .
Beautiful valley views just a few minutes walk from camp site. Quite a few tracking options. The best part is that it is near the city. Water from rain water tank available. Pit drop toilets for nature needs
Nice lookouts, but no walking trails.
Perfect if you wanna get away from the noise but still be connected to the world if you need to. Telstra coverage and stunning views throughout!
It is nice place 2 go it is very quiet out there it is good 4 camping
Good little camp site.
Great place close to Perth for a bush barbeque or for bush camping. The park is patrolled by a ranger which is great and they are always friendly and helpful. Bring your own firewood. Toilets are provided at each campsite and running water at most sites. Best time to go is Spring to see the Bush come alive with wild flowers.
AVNP is a great NP for recreational activies; soft 4wding, climbing, bush walking (on or off track), camping, geocaching or just having a bevvie with friends.Further out of Perth, but reachable in about an hour, the picturesque valley and river system are a great getaway.Leave No Trace & have fun...!
Beatiful spot overlooking the valley. Would be nice to camp as well.
The paddle, when you can, down the valley is an experience not to be missed. Some hidden away spots give river access from southern and northern sides plus Walanga National park for more facilities. Bells falls are another good spot to walk and explore. Enjoy a day trip and visit Upper Swan tourist attractions on the way there or back.
Very amazing National park great for day trips or the overnighters! we stayed at Bald Hill campgrounds for the night and was very beautiful scenery from the hills and the walking tracks lots of bird life which is great to see lots of wrens and other native Fauna! highly recommend this place for a visit!
Stopped through here on a day trip. Seems to have nice camp grounds and plenty of space to explore. Roads to get in and out are terrible. Your car will rattle loose with the quality of the road. Why bother paying for national parks if the roads arent maintained?
Nice place, 4 campgrounds there. But no signed walking tracks.
Love nature, and its a beautiful place with lots of exploring and close to Perth
Great to be able to enjoy our national parks without unnessarry restrictions. This is a beautiful spot with the Avon river flowing and the fantastic Aussie bush
Did not see animals and roads on gps do not exist in park.
Great place to park up n have a few bevvies n cook up on the campfire. Awesome views in the morning.Really well maintained!
Awesome camp site with concrete camp fire pit, undercover picnic tables, water and long drop facilities. No definitive walk trails but plenty of places to explore. 100% worth a visit.
Good camping site. But Google map roads are not reliable
Decent walk. Probably a lot nicer in Spring.
Very quiet, no vehicles and lots to see. Beautiful shady trees and heaps of wildlife. Very rough tracks mostly accessible only in a good 4wd.
Peaceful place to camp
Avon Valley National Park on the outskirts of Perth is a beautiful forrested park straddling the iconic Avon River as it rushes westwards into the Walyunga National Park and further on to join Perths Swan River.
Bald Hill campsite is definitely worth a stay. We stayed one night over new years and the sunset and the view of the stars was amazing ✨
A magical pla e to wake up to.
Nice quiet camp site. Plenty of fire pits and bins
Great park close to Perth for an easy weekend camping
How can you beat nature? Beautiful views and great walking tracks.
Its a place Just for camping only. River not big enough for swimming.
Great park. Even greater when you want to see the Avon descent race every year.great spots for picnic with the kids. You can also kayak on the river. There are some tiny rapids if you want a bit of fun. Some parts of the park along the river dont have bbqs or tables so bring your picnic blanket.
First of all, dont get mixed with the roads on the north side of the river, they dont connect and you end up going in circles on 4wd tracks in the middle of the woods. Then when you go all around the park and enter from the south entrance you have to pay 13$ for the day use of the park. I get it, the money is for the visitor facilities and for the maintenance of the park. But, since theres an additional fee for campers and theres absolutely no marked trails thus no need for maintenance?? Then you think well it will be a nice walk next to the river. Turns out theres no way of crossing the railway to access the river. On the (very basicmap, you can see that Quarry road cross the railway so you go all the way there to realise that this road is also closed. Very disappointed, the park is very nice with great potential but not "user-friendly".
Excellent place, close to the city for a weekend break site fees apply but really tidy! Can walk the the river from the valley campsite
A very nice national park with some good views of the Avon Valley, nice walktrails and reasonable camping facilities. Close to Perth. The drive in is some distance (~15km off the bitumen). It can also be a bit noisy from trains and planes. The park could use a couple of things: aupdating of the camping areas bsome better marked walk trails.
Very disappointing. Takes about 25min to even get into the park on the gravel rd. There was not a single person in sight, nothing around, felt very unsafe.
Excellent place for camping or even a day out. Entry fee applies but really well maintained. Good for trekking.
Nice ride to Bald Hill, good views and phone reception
