Avalon Hotel in Miami Beach
Description
Didnt stay in the hotel, but the restaurant was amazing.
Stayed here with my fiancée and our parents. Everything was perfect. They left us a bottle of champagne in our room as a gift since we’re here to get married. The entire staff was so polite and courteous, I can smell the pride in their work. The hotel feels like a blast from the past and I can’t wait to come back one day… thank you.
MoreThe location on Ocean Drive is fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The breakfast satisfactory. Unfortunately the rooms are outdated. Especially the airco is in need of refurbishment. It is extremely loud, which wakes you up at night. But considering the price I shouldnt complain. 170 dollars per night in August for a double queen is not to much at all.
MoreLocated on Ocean drive I was surprised to have not a lot of noise in the room. The room was clean but too small with very limited furniture. No space to dry our swim suits ... very good surprise : the included breakfast was nice. Many choice and very good.
MoreIt’s not a “retro aesthetic” or a “gimmic” it’s outdated and lazy. The air conditioning is the worst example of this. For some reason instead of consistent cooling, it operates on a thermostat system. The room cools to a set temperature, then the air conditioning turns off. This means that throughout the night you have bursts of loud vibrations and freezing air, broken up with periods of overly hot silence. The beds themselves are uncomfortable, to the point at where I began setting up a makeshift bed in the bath. This lead to further problems as when I went to get thicker sheets from the cupboard, I found some thick soft sheets. However these were damp and smelt revolting. The room itself was uncomfortable and makes a travel lodge look like the ritz. I didn’t eat here so I cannot comment on the state of the restaurant beyond the breakfast. The breakfast included was miserable. For cereal you can treat yourself to a bowl of granola or Cheerios. They have a depressing selection of bagels and bread etc. Some juice and coffee etc. Overall I wouldn’t recommend. Especially when the Betsy is down the road, a restaurant I cannot praise enough (incredible burgers and brunchoverall just wouldn’t recommend this.
MoreAmazing experience! The hotel is pretty good. Location is excellent. The room is big.About the staff: they are very polite, helpful, and kind people.Breakfast is very good, with a lot of options.Cleaning service is excellent.Receptionists are awesome: they are very attentive and agile, and provide clear instructions.
MoreThe staff at Avalon were fabulous! The front desk and the hotel manager went out of their way to return a list item to me and I am very grateful. Highest level of service. You can’t beat the location on top of it! I highly recommend this hotel.
MoreEverything was fine, nice workers and everybody is willing to help. Since my room was all the way to the end of the hall, it was a little loud, not so bad but still :Alteady want to go back there!
Moreold rooms but overall good experience in the mid of nighlife and close to the beach.
MoreOne star because of location.Reek and dirty floor. Very weak wifi signal(almost not working). No refrigerator.Poor breakfast. Smelled weed elevator.Very tiny room. Old furniture. Feels like im at 70’s poor hotel. Not recommend at all!
MoreVery clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff and the very best location. It was great to have my family with me but we are coming back ourselves for our next anniversary.
MoreAlejandro was a perfect MAITRE D HOTEL , very honest and Professionnal .The service was impressive , and the food will be on my Souvenir !
MoreClean was an understatement. Hella friendly staff and in a great location. Very accommodating and friendly. Anytime we return, this is where we’ll be staying. Whole place was on point, worth the stay I promise 😌
MoreStayed for a weekend - staff was great and accommodating - room was clean - had a great time would highly recommend for Miami Beach trip
MoreOn this hotel is best staff! Specificaly Mariely and Camilo was very friendly and willing. Also breakfast was great and cleaning in all hotel. I was definitely not here for the last time and i look forward next time. :)
MoreI loved this cute little hotel on ocean drive. Great location! Rooms are quaint, very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff are warm, friendly, and most of all helpful. Beach chairs and towels are provided, and the gorgeous ocean is a convenient 5 min walk across the street. The rooms have a small fridge where you can store colddrinks. The little breakfast they provide is a good start to the day. Special thanks to Mariela who provided good advice and tips during our stay. Yes Ocean Drive can get a little noisy at night, but you are in Southbeach. Recommend bringing earplugs to sleep if that’s an issue. Wifi is a little dodgy, my only issue to flag, but no place is perfect. :Would definitely stay here again.
MoreWould rate 6 star on the location if I could. Plus free breakfast. Pastry is really good.
MoreAmazing front desk staff! The rooms are comfortable, clean, the food is excellent. The location is perfect, everything is close ... the beach is in front, cvs is a minute walk, shops, restaurants. I will recommend this hotel to others!
MoreTerrible experience. My friend left a special gift for me with the reception and after one week when i came to pick it up, it was no longer there. Manager was absolutely useless putting no effort into finding it nor offered any other solution.Worst hotel on miami beach.
MoreStaff was great, rooms were clean and cute, but make no mistake, although it is advertised as family-friendly, it absolutely is NOT NOT NOT an ok place for anyone under the age of 18!!! We walked out of our room and the entire floor reeked of weed! I checked out early because of this, I consider this a major major safety issue and I was refused a refund for the last night. Such a disappointment. :(
MoreI want to thank the amazing reception staff! Especially Mariely M. For her outstanding costumer service! The housekeeping staff were also efficient and attentive! I found great hospitality in each staff member I came in contact with. I will recommend this hotel to others!
MoreOverall pleasant stay. Just minor flaws/disappointments.1st, you are sold that they have a “buffet style continental breakfast”. What was offered was barely able to be called breakfast. They offered one warmed egg option each morning (scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, or a small cheese omelette). It was *one* of those options per morning, not a choice or variety each day. That was the only warmed food, no meat/protein, waffles, gravy/biscuits. There were the standard toast, plain bagels, and muffins you could toast in the toaster oven. Two types of dry cereal, yogurt cups, and choice of drink (coffee, tea, OJ, apple juice, milk, water). That was it. For being right on the beach and not being a “cheap” hotel, the breakfast was VERY disappointing. Don’t sell it as a continental breakfast. Just say you have light breakfast options available.Aesthetic of hotel was very pleasant and matched the retro feel of the Ocean Drive hotels. Hotel was kept very clean. Building is older, but it has been kept up well. Our room was a King. Room is very basic/small, only 1 small painting on the wall. Standard furniture and fixtures. Furniture was worn on edges, but clean.Being on South Beach, I was worried about noise at night, but it wasn’t bad at all! We were on the 3rd floor, only heard minimal noise at night. No microwave in room.**Room came with 2 small beach chairs and daily beach towels.Lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas available for rent on the beach.Staff was friendly. We had inquired about having a late checkout (we had a later flightand one staff member said that that was an option and to just let them know the morning of checkout and we could pay for the late checkout. However, when we asked (a different person that morningthe morning we were leaving about leaving late, they said that was not an option. The most they could do would be a 1 hr delay. We made it work, but I wish the first employee would have been better informed and not got our hopes up.
MoreFresh food, impeccable service and great atmosphere. Key lime pie is to die for. Can’t wait to go back! And thanks Giorgio!!!
MoreVERY OUTDATED. The ugliest room Ive ever seen. Its a white scary room with no curtains no pictures no nothing. You can hear everyone and everything in the hotel. If you are looking for quiet place dont stay here VERY NOISY. I heard people talking in the other room you can hear every boom, bang and car outside. The TV didnt work.
MoreThis is typical for a old hotel in Miami to have small rooms. Employees here are friendly and very accommodating. The morning simple breakfast is a very nice add on with great coffee. Carpets are newer and walls appear to be freshly painted. Just remember.. This is Miami Beach Ocean drive... even a 4 star hotel will be questionable to some...
MoreTiny room, rock hard bed, sandpaper sheets, dirty bathroom, no real "view" as advertised. All in all not worth the price paid.
MoreI absolutely hate writing negative reviews, but it would be a disservice to future patrons here if I didnt say something. I tried to book a couple of rooms for a group event in Miami and the first thing they did when I called to book with them is they sent me to a third party to help with booking the rooms. Yes they have a website but why book through a website or over the phone when you can have about a week of back and forth emails with a lady who misspells every fifth word? Not only that, the lady who was trying to help us book over email quoted us exactly $50 more a night than what the website stated. If it was a number that was random like $27 a night, maybe they wouldve gotten a way with an excuse but $50 on the dot is enough to know that they were deliberately trying to rip us off. Not to mention, they tried to get everyone to send in their credit card information over email which is the sketchiest thing Ive ever encountered since I heard about Epsteins cause of death. Again, this could all have been avoided if we could just book over their perfectly intact website. So I called the hotel, they patched me through to the manager and the manager set the rooms at the rate that was stated on the website but said the taxes on each room for a three night stay would be around $170. The tax rate for hotels in Florida is 6%, and even with city taxes theres no way it would be as high as 22%. This place lacks convenience, honesty, and integrity. If you stay here, be prepared to get ripped off or possibly have your credit card information stolen because they want to do bookings where your credit card information is handled with a digital paper trail.
MoreWe requested late check out at 02:00 pm because our flight was late but the man at the reception doesnt agreed and allow us for extra 1 hour only he said the hotel is fully booked and he cant do more than that but when I go for there website i saw they have plenty of empty room,,,he was lying,,,,poor customer service definitely will not use this hotel again
MorePretty good hotel, clean, priced well, with breakfast as a bonus. I had no issues with anything, accept cat urine smell in the closet, room 311. I’m sure it will be taken care of.
MoreWell the pictures do not match what the hotel shows it was average room no proper wifi poor signal and no port to connect our chargersThe house keeping staff was simple excellent always came in to a clean room at the days endThe continental breakfast and the staff at the bar serving it was nothing short of excellent!
MoreAmazing and super friendly and accommodating. Free bottled water, beach towels and chairs. Fun location, lobby, great continental breakfast. A must stay!
MoreBeautiful, clean, quiet, and great location right in front of the beach, on Ocean Drive. You can work out for free in front of the hotel, rent bicycles, and have dinner at A Fish Called Avalon- delicious.
MoreGood customer service. Check in was easy and quick. Breakfast was a good plus. The elevator broke down while there. Its the only reason why they got a 4.
MoreFirst time at this hotel and the person at the front desk George was great. He assisted us with switching our check in date with no issue at all. The view was also great and room was clean. I also like that so many great places were around.
MoreI rate it a 3 due to its small lack luster rooms. The staff was great and the restaurant deserves at least a 4.
MoreHad a great experience nice hotel right on the beach everything was excellent thank you
MoreWe stayed 4 nights and had an amazing experience at this boutique hotel. It’s right on ocean drive so u very much walk to the south beach and all the restaurants around. The hotel itself and rooms are about ok but the staff and their team made a huge difference in making our stay enjoyable. I will call out Camilo and Kahlane at the front desk in particular for their fantastic customer service but the whole team goes the extra mile to accommodate. Awesome time!
MoreThis hotel/restaurant was incredibly welcoming to tourists and visitors. I quickly felt at home with their warmth and welcoming services. The food was incredible, and the service was kind. I must say that they are well mannered employees. I would visit again when i’m in Miami. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Miami beach area.
MoreNice employees. Dont want to sound like a penny pincher but a little bit pricey. And the elevator does not work
MoreEverything about this hotel was great. Service. Location. Room size. The feel of the hotel. Would stay here again. Excellent hotel
MoreThe staffing of this hotel is very friendly and willing to help you, we enjoy our stay .
MoreIt’s a small hotel but the location is excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but very clean.
MoreNice Clean Quiet place but they made us wait until 3 pm. Check in.....Then No plugs in the room it was aggravating...then our room was on the first floor next to garbage shoot it was nosey in the morning...Breakfast was a joke....nasty coffee and one orange per person very disappointed....expected more for location...
MoreStop looking! This hotel is great! JENNIFER at the front desk is the BEST. CLEAN/ CROSS FROM BEACH / SAY NO MORE!
MoreGreat hotel, great location and a beautiful Art Deco building. Receptionist is amazing. Would love to come back!
MoreThe lady at the front desk was super sweet! We were able to check-in early and our room was nice and clean. Perfect location too. We had to park in a public parking garage a block over but it wasnt too bad of a walk.
MoreEasy access to everything. We had a corner room looking at the ocean. Was an amazing view. Friendly staff and healthy food options for breakfast. Thank you!
MoreGreat little hotel in the heart of South Beach!!Ive stayed here several times before, and its consistently been a good hotel. The breakfast included in the room price solid, and highly recommend the restaurant for dinner (A Fish Called Avalon. Its excellent.
MoreReally cool boutique hotel. Very clean and customer service was off the chart. Everyone was SUPER friendly and helpful. I recommend booking directly on their website for a potential "perk".
MoreGreat and amazing place. Amazing restaurant within... The employees are always ready to help! Best location in town with everything you need to have a great time! We stay 10+ times a year every year and we never have one issue or complain. Keep the good work guys!!
