At present this gallery is closed to public. It is situated on Hill Cart road, around 2 km from Darjeeling Chowrasta. The road down from Ava Art Gallery would lead you to Darjeeling Rajbari. The condition of the road is not good. Little below Ava Art Gallery is DIKIBASH Home Stay, where tourists can start comfortably with all amenities at reasonable price.

Place where beautiful handmade artwork can be found. There arent many works in there but those that are will impress you.

Small but very nice place, must visit when in darjeeling

Ava Art Gallery was established in the year 1965 by Late Ava Devi who was known as a genius of embroidery art, and Bhopal Rao Sett. Ava Art Gallery is the only art gallery of its kind in Darjeeling. When you enter inside, one would get to see a permanent collection of sixty pieces of exquisite artwork of Ava Devi including water, oil and thread paintings.There are two special paintings in the gallery that one must not miss. The first one is called "Still Strong" and the other one as "Torture" that reflect Ava Devis outstanding talent and skills in the field of artwork.The gallery opens from 8 in the morning till 2 in the afternoon and and again opens from 1 in the afternoon till 5 in the evening. Please note that photography is not permitted inside.

A good place to visit in Darjeeling if you are into arts and stuffs. Entry fee is only 5rs. Photography is strictly not allowed inside and any defaulter to this rule will be penalised with a fine of 1000rs.

Very bad and nasty rooms..here is damp in these rooms...and specially the toilets....ohhhhhhhhhh soooooo bad.......torn bedsheets and blankets...If you dont get any room in Darjeeling then book it...But the caretakers behaviour is good.....

Ohh !!What to say...if you dont get any room then book it.. otherwise dont..too dirty and clumsy... nothing I can say good about it... specially toilet !..and bedsheets! And drain is passing in front of every room..only the caretaker is good and helpful...

Very bad place. Nothing is there much. Waste of time. And the hotel of Ava art gallery is like a dirty slum. Dirty room and toilets.There are rats in the rooms.

Small gallery on first floor in one big room. Average traveller can skip this point of interest. But if you have keen interest in embroidery, you should visit this. On January 2018, ticket was Rs. 5 per head.

Ava Art Gallery houses paintings of an entirely different kind. Mrs Ava Devi and her husband "painted" with very fine silk threads. The paintings are actually embroidery works. At first glance the paintings look like they have been painted, but on closer look, the fine thread work is revealed. A must see for all art lovers.
