Authors' Lounge - Tea room in Ratchaburi, Thailand
Very beautiful tea sets
Classic English Tearoom to enlighten you with wonderful Afternoon Tea sets. We tried both Western and Thai sets. The Western set was our favorite. Nice place to relax and chat with friends and celebrate special occasion.
If nothing else, this place is worth going to for the classical guitarist they have playing. Probably the best technical and performance guitarist we have seen anywhere in the world… and we say this as two former members of a global symphony orchestra.Tea was lovely, food was beautifully presented and staff were delightful. Probably not as creative in culinary terms as House on Sathorn for slightly less $$, but the history of the surrounds balance that somewhat.
So worth a visit. You can try Thai traditional afternoon tea, very fancy taste. And the place is very beautiful with nice music, I really enjoy dining here.
5 star for the ambience and experience. This place is simply amazing. Slow down and enjoy a relaxing tea. Don’t miss going to the garden behind for more photo opportunities, and catch a ferry to ICONSIAM. The food, pastries in the sets are pretty, and served beautifully, which is what most are looking for anyways😅
One of the best Tea room in Bangkok
The Authors Lounge was such a fantastic experience. Its nestled in the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok and is so beautiful. Its such a serene and traditional environment; possibly the best place Ive ever had tea at.My cousin took me here for Afternoon Tea. We ordered two sets, the Cherry Blossom set and the Oriental set. The Cherry Blossom set was arranged on a basic 3-tiered stand (rather wish it came out like in the picture on the menu), whilst the Oriental set was arranged in a traditional Thai-style lunch carrier. Loved that. The food from both sets were quite nice. I liked the Oriental set a lot more though. Its uniquely Thai, and not available in any other country. The Cherry Blossom set had some rather standard flavours—delicious—but flavours I can get elsewhere. For the tea, I chose the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok blend. It was highly aromatic, and brewed perfectly. If I had space in my luggage, Id probably have checked if I could buy some home. The service was excellent, as one would expect.Overall, the Afternoon Tea was highly enjoyable, and Ive already decided Ill stay at the Mandarin Oriental for a few nights next time Im in Bangkok, just so I can have the tea set here again!
Exceptional service. Good food nice ambience for afternoon tea.
This place with no doubt is one of my favorite places to go for the afternoon tea. Although I like the classic western one a bit more than the one with Japanese theme I had on my last visit, they still delivered 5 stars experience. Food and drink can be refilled. Staff are always attentive to details. Peaceful environment.
Staff are incredible, food is delicious and the setting is magical! Rated as one of the top high teas in the area and worth every bit.
The interior was nice, a bit OTT. I think its time to refresh its furnishing (old fashioned fabric and furniture)The brunch set was superb. Love both book of love and Thai set.The main big problem is no Mariage Freres!!!The real off-putting with TWG.
The best High tea spot in Bangkok city! Everything is so perfect!!
We rated this a 4.5 deriving from 5 for atmosphere (25%5 for service (25%4 for taste (50%). We loved the oriental tea set with seasonal dish (khoa chae. A mix bag on the western tea set. Over all, a very enjoyable experience
Excellent elegant afternoon tea. Great service, relaxing atmosphere. Very pleasant.
Very enjoyable. Lovely ambience complimentary to the Afternoon Tea.
Countdown gala dinner at Mandarin Oriental the best hotel in Bkk...thks covid19 we had chance due to very good offer🤫😎
We had the Christmas afternoon tea set. Its ashamed that the music box was all gone so we did not get that. However, the pastry was great with dedicated work for the tiny little pieces. There were two types jam ( rose petal and something elsebut they were not my cup of tea though
Elegant tea lounge, there is special Christmas afternoon tea menu. Traditional Mandarin Oriental tea had sweet smell and green tea flavor, good to eat sweets.
Historical place with an elegance atmosphere.Great pleace for an afternoon tea.
Great service, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea set was various. The place was very beautiful and rich is history since the building was built about 100 years ago.
Very beautiful setting, extremely nice staff. The tea set is very good for a reasonable price as you can keep reordering ( buffet style ). The tea also gets refilled. Very nice to unwind in a beautiful environment. The hotel has nice garden areas where you can go for a walk. The hotel offers valet.
I had an excellent afternoon tea experience at Mandarin Oriental Authors Lounge. I ordered the mid-autumn afternoon tea set. The quality of food and tea is superb! And the service from their staff is remarkable. I would like to personally commend Khun Fai, the manager who is very knowledgeable of the menu. With the varied selection of tea, she explained to us very well our choices. She was also attentive as she had to emphasize which items in the set are soft and suitable for my soft diet requirement. Khun Parichat also noticed that I am feeling cold and she offered me a pink shawl, truly a very warm hospitality she demonstrated. The interior is beautiful and the overall ambiance is wonderful. I am very pleased. Thank you.
Love the environment and the service! And the food is wonderful, of course!
A place that is in a class of it own. All the pastries served were exceptionally delectable and I have an amazing time there. It is a place where opulence meets class, style and elegance. This is truly one of my best afternoon tea experiences. Authors Lounge will always be a beautifully polished gem stone placed proudly on Bangkoks tourism crown.
This was beautiful and memorable. They treat you with exceptional service and care. Let them know if you are celebrating and they will accommodate your with extra joy!
Great place for afternoon relax. Service is superb.
A really special experience. Probably the best afternoon tea Ive ever had. Try to go with a few people (min of 3so you can try all of the different options they have. The service was exceptional.
Wonderful experience 20 years on from first visit
Stuck in a grand colonial feel with posh written all over. Ironically, the authors evoked here would have only popped into such a place to collect their awards. Staff is very friendly though. C suite kind of people may have a good time here.
One of the highlights of Bangkok! If you like afternoon teas, dont miss this one! The place is absolutely beautiful. It is a perfect relaxing break from the busy city. The food was delicious. Worth the price.
We were there in the midst of the renovation which we were informed will be due in October 2019.Staff friendliness and professionalism met my expectations from the hotel. Nothing spectacular if excellent service is a requirement.Ordered a vegetarian hi-tea set. Overall the food quality, presentation and taste is great.
Wonderful experience. We loved the food, the service, the music and the whole setting. *please dress to the occasion to keep the experience perfect for everybody*
Lovely atmosphere, great setting and amazing tea but the actual food choices were not the best for a high tea, having said that, it was high tea, Thai styleeee
I really enjoyed afternoon tea here. My mom and I ordered western set and oriental set respectively. Both are really delicate and amazing. But maybe because of my dining custom, I prefer western set more. Oriental set is really traditional Vietnamese style tho and definitely worth trying.Overall i like salty desserts >>oriental set>>sweet portion in western setsThe overall space design is stunning as well. By dividing whole lounge into three spaces definitely give customers more privacy and lower the noise down.Service is wonderful too.Feeling really lucky to start off my trip in Thailand by a set of delicate afternoon tea
Its was amazing afternoon tea. Very enjoyable and highly recommend !
Terrible service. We went to have a drink, however they asked us if we were interested in afternoon tea. As we said we wanted just a drink they told us they were going to close so we left. However when we were out we call to ask what time they close and we found out they lied to us and they were closing later. Place is interesting but not impressive. They are proud of Literature authors however they dont even named right some of the authors in the pictures they have. Disappointing! Avoid this place.
It is a nice place to have a afternoon tea.
We really enjoyed this place for an afternoon tea session. The staff was very kind. Food was delicious and they even made a little cake for our anniversary. Definitely worth visiting this place when in Bangkok.
Absolutely perfect for beautiful dinner. Went there to celebrate my college celebration with team. We tried 7 courses menu together with wines pairing. And couldn’t agreed more with what chef has been selected for. View over looking Chaopraya river was stunning. Staffs and service were immaculate. All in all, well done you guys!
I enjoy coming here. It never gets old. Enjoy amazing food, delicious tea in a beautiful tea house with live guitar music. I believe this is the nicest place in Bangkok where you can relax and spend some quality time with your family or partner. Came many times and definitely will be coming back again
We were staying at the hotel and decided to try the high tea here as there were excellent reviews. The service here was excellent, from when you are led to your table, as the food is served and the payment process. The manageress took the time to go to every table to ask about the experience, and even shared some information about the delicacies with us.We had the Western and the Asian sets, with orange pekoe and red pelican teas. The food was well presented in several tiers, with each section being cleared and taken away as we finished. Portionwise, it was good and the food was tasty. One thing, we felt there were not enough savory edibles, and there was a tad too much cream used in the cakes and sandwiches. It was a great experience and my wife and I enjoyed the service. Do take the time to walk about the various lounges to read about the literary greats who have visited.
My star rating is for the environment, service and the live acoustic guitar performance. The food here used to be a lot better, but they got so sweet and less delicious as it used to be, portion is good but thats just it. The tea and coffee were good tho, but what do you expect? Its a top hotel globally. I would really give my applause to the acoustic guitarist, he played very well and all the songs he did fit the environment so much, very relaxing amd not annoying. The staff are providing really good service but again, its MO.
Nice decor, healthy and tasty food, usual MO high standard service, ideal place to spend the afternoon
Fantastic. I went there with my family. We had both Thai and Western Afternoon Tea-sets. Everything was impressive, including the architecture, the atmosphere, and the service. We had a wonderful time there. The tea selections were all sensational, especially the TWGs signature.
Great choice for afternoon tea.
A selection of TWG teas with the afternoon tea set. Its good to know that there is a vegetarian option besides the Western and Oriental selection. Service is excellent and thoughtful. Prices on the high side but that is to be expected for Mandarin Oriental. Dress code smart casual minimum. No flip flops.
Too bad that I didn’t get to sit in the author’s lounge, but the lobby. Services was as great as everyone else said. You can select 1 out of the 3 afternoon tea sets. I choose Western Set. The drink you can choose anything from drink list, however once selected, you can have it refill within their kind of drink (coffee all the way, can’t switch to tea, but can be any kind of coffee). For foods in the set, scone is no. 1, eating with clotted creme and rose jam was absolutely perfect. I love all their savory bites, not a fan of sweet thing. However, there were all good as well. All in all, love high tea here, even the price is high (1,450 THB++).
Beautiful decor. Romantic ambiance. Great service.
Magnificent place.Three sets of afternoon tea are available: western style, thaï style, vegetarian style.Great service, waiters are available and flexible.
Beautiful and relaxing place for afternoon tea. Try to book in advance - they were a bit funny about us booking for later the same day when we turned up & they were full. Service once seated was good.
