Cautious advice Please be mentally prepared before visiting this site. The events that happened here were overwhelming . This tour is almost for 4 hours. There are options available with the tour company and option to choose your guide as per your preferred language. There is a lot of walking involved so come prepared

A very cold and wet and windy day, but this only added to the solemnity of tour. A deeply emotional and moving experience.

As something to do it would score lower, but its one of those things that needs to be experienced and Im glad i visited. There is a lot of walking, Id estimate 4km, the second half is in the open with no shade so if hot bear this is mind. Of course this is nothing in comparison to what people went through when the camp was in operation. We started early at about 08:45 and finished tour about 12.15 it appeared very busy when we left. You need to bring ID to be allowed to enter. RIP

I went as part of a tour from Krakow, which makes everything easy. Ive always been interested in the events of the holocaust. Visited Dachau many years ago and I still remember the feeling.Auschwitz is a must see for everyone. Id make a visit mandatory if I could. Well organised, reasonably priced and never to be forgotten. Knowledge of what happened is one thing but being there is visceral. Amazing/awful/a must see.

The grounds and museum are absolutely great. The only thing that bothered us was the Czech guide who didnt provide headphones for the kids (10 and 11years old, who couldnt hear anything, so a lot of the context ended up being boring for them

A place that no one wants to visit, but a place where everyone should. Even if you know the history of the holocaust, its another thing to walk in the same places as the doomed millions did in WW2.The tours are very well done, everything is very respectful, and it is an example of horrors of the past to be avoided.

An important place that everyone should visit to understand the atrocities of the holocaust better, to see the actual scale of such madness and horror waa something that really shocked me.My only issue would be, that I highly recommend staff should be monitoring certain areas better. I was horrified to see people taking pictures of victims hair, clothes and possessions with flash, or video when it clearly stated that photos werent allowed. I even saw someone filming the execution wall where there were flowers laid for memorial, snickering and trying to hide what they were doing. Clearly there will always be a minority of those that arent there to be respectful, but out of some morbid curiosity, but the memorial/museum needs to have staff monitoring those areas more. I didnt see any cameras. I went when it was quiet, so god knows what its like when its busy.

Auschwitz is a must visit. The atrocities of the nazis must never be forgotten. Whilst there is some images of death, we took our three children 10, 11 and 15to learn about the persecution that the Jews faced.

We booked a tour in advance and were picked up from our hotel - would highly recommend doing a group tour as the guides are excellent. Plenty of toilets and places to get drinks/snacks. Well worth a visit, a well put together exhibition of a very dark part of history

If you’re going to Krakow, make the trip and educate yourself. Everyone knows what happened here, but it’s such a surreal experience. The gravity of the holocaust becomes more real and stirs your spirit.

Its a place where very sad things from the human society happaned.. it will brings you a lot of reflection. I think everyone should visit it once in a life..Maybe a suggestion is to do it after exploring the beautiful Krakow, since it will not affect your mood..

Its free entrance and parking. Open to visitors till 2pm, no tours available after 12 noon. Personally I enjoyed without the tour guide, you take your own time and distanced properly away from other people. Free to take pictures, you just have to bring an ID for entry. We wore our face masks althroughout the grounds.

Such a moving and emotive meseum. The facilities are good quality and they have good covid measures in place. Did not have a guided tour as wanted time to explore at our own pace. The is plenty of information to take in so good to go at your own pace. We entered at 13.30 so it is a lot less crowded so felt you had more time to read the information boards and see the exhibits without feeling you were holding others up by the time we left at 3.30 there was hardly anyone around and there was a strange silence about the place that just made it feel more intense. We visited Brikenau in the morning before Auschwitz and again and it was much quieter than in the afternoon. If you have research the holocaust and have a good understanding of events and not doing a guided tour I would recommend doing things this way round as its much quieter and you have more time to read the information available. I am sure if you have a guided tour you would get much more information out of it but if you want to take your own time to take it in dont be put off doing it by yourself.

Had a time booked but still had to wait in a queue to get in, it took over an hour to get in, queues are chaos 3 queues going into 1 with no social distancing, tour had to be cut short as it was closing. Arrive early if you want the full experience.

Everyone should visit this place. People must see what could happen in a loveless, careless hatred world. Unfortunately, the same things happening right now, right here, in front of our eyes to us and to our children. The only difference is , it is not happening in remote concentration camps, it is happening all around the world:( , it is not hidden anymore. We need to expose the truth and fight against it at all time .

Wow, what an experience. You cannot say you enjoyed it, but certainly glad you went. We booked through get your guide which during the covid pandemic we were taken by a minibus to the camp. There we explored both Auschwitz 1 and Auschwitz 2. We were informed via headphones in English about all of the historical information. I would highly recommend coming to see this if you are heading to Poland!

Hard to "score" as this is humanities darkest hour - but essential education for European citizens i think. Auschwitz 1 is oddly peaceful and quite serene to walk around. The guided tour brings it to life but its still quite hard to take in. You end up digesting and coming to terms later that day or week. Hard viewing and not really suitable for primary-school aged kids/

There is nothing more eye opening than visiting such a place. Everyone on this earth should go here and understand the atrocities that happened in order to not repeat them in the future. Many thanks to our guide who was very informative.

I spent 5-6 hours here, starting by catch a bus straight to Auschwitz center. I would suggested to have a meal before you go into the tour because it’s a long session. But not suggest to be too full as well. Trust me, during the tour you will feel so sensitive through this historical place.Try not to take picture inside the building and stay close to tour group.

Such a humbling experience to visit a place with so much history. Its also a place of contemplation. Well worth a visit if you have time. Really interesting to see in real life everything youve seen and read about before. Difficult to comprehend the scale of it.

Strong emotions while visiting this museum even if you are Jewish or not. Ticket for visiting is free, if you have car, parking cost is 13 zloty. Carrying bag is not allowed so if you have one you could leave it on small warehouse for 4 zloty. Security measures are high enough. Worth visiting with your family if your kids aree bigger than 14yo.

Sombre moving place. Lots of walking.Afterwards visited Salt Mines in same day which cheered us up. Lots of walking at Salt Mines but mainly down, down, down 130 metres but do not give up lots to see and about 20 seconds in elevator gets you back up. Warm in mine so do not need heavy clothing in winter.

It is very tough to say we loved it but in the context it was very emotional and educational and our tour guide did a great job of telling the victims stories. It is hard to be where so much death and suffering took place but at the same time it is extremely humbling and a way that I can share the experience with people I know who havent been. I will always cherish this opportunity.

Our guide throughout was brilliant, she knew her stuff and was very respectful in her commentary. A visit I will remember for the rest of my life although it was extremely moving, historically important and something every adult should see and experience. Words can never explain what this visit feels like. There are birds at both camps but I personally didnt hear them singing.

This place is full of sad history. Unfortunately also very crowded - despite they have only organised tours with educators. If you arrive at 7:30 in the morning, you can get easily tours for the same day in different languages. Tour takes 3 and half hours for both camps. Time is very limited - not much time to stop a bit longer or ask questions. But overall positive.

Amazing place. I expected it to be really emotional, but we were rushed round and it was very busy. I think that the impact of what went on hits you later. It is awful to realise that you are walking the same steps as so many thousands before you. And then you find out that the roads and paths are made from their ashes... Haunting.

A sobering experience and something we have been meaning to do for a while. The questions like why seem hard to answer in any dignified way, evil is a word that you could relate to what happened here. We were part of a guided tour, a large group of people, no-one spoke or asked questions it was almost indignant to even think of asking. The one strange thing that struck us was no birds, no twittering. A deeply sad place, its referred to as a museum but we prefer as a memorial to the people who lost their lives here and to those who survived it, what hell do they live in...the danger coming away from Auschwitz is that you question deeply your fellow human beings, but hope must be the overriding thought, that this could never happen again....but it does.

The tour was very interesting. The place was a true horror. This camp got turned into a museum with a lot of history. You will see and hear a lot about the canp during the second worldwar. Even though it was very busy you could still see everything while a story about the place was being told by the guide.

A powerful and emotional experience. I brought my students and they were absolutely stunned by the things they saw. Our tour guide was fantastic, providing the proper amount of gravity to the situation while also being very informative. It was a hard but a very educational one. We spent about 3hours and the guide was very informative and not preachy or over emotional, he was to the point but very informative. After all it was better than I expected and I got out of there enlightened. So I do recommend this visit but not the whole day visit. It is still very emotional and it gets to you.

A must visit for anyone to understand what hatred is capable of. The camp is well preserved and you will not leave with a dry eye or without a conscience and determination to become a better person. The visit takes about 5 hours so plan accordingly. You wont be able to go to the place by yourself so you will have to book a guided tour which mostly arranges a pick up from your hotel as well as a drop.
