Aurora restaurant&lodging in Kohima
Description
Hadn’t been here for a few years, happy to see it is as good if not better than I remember it. Excellent service, wine, dinner and dessert. A classic Williamsburg institution -really the best dinner experience I’ve had in a while
MoreHaving been there before, we went again for lunch today with a few friends. What started out as a bit of a rubbish experience (waitress spilt a few drinks on usended up being great. The team there were amazing, very apologetic and catering. They provided me a new t shirt and we’re quickly on the case of clearing up. They tended to us professionally and the food was truly amazing. So well done team Aurora, you somehow turned an awful experience into a great one!
MoreLove the outdoor area and the local Italian beers. The squid ink paccheri was very good and the branzino was also a must try. We also got the burger, which was a bit disappointing but make sense for a Italian restaurant. Note to take - order any seafood and avoid burger you won’t regret this trip!
MoreGreat ambiance. Had an opportunity to have steak but pivoted and had the duck with plum sauce. Best choice ever.My who just came back from Italy chose the appetizers and wine for us (Nerojbleowhich started of the night of feasts excellently. The service was excellent here and I would suggest to anyone to eat here for a date, with friends, or for business!
MoreThe outdoor eating space is surrounded by ivy covered walls. The tables decorated with stylish small lights that look like tall thin candles. My Ravioli dish arrived quickly and was delicious.
MoreOutstanding food. Great place for a date night. Busy atmosphere in a nicely decorated setting.
MoreThe steak was good but the rest of the food was average.
I first visited this restaurant with co-workers for a team lunch and Ive been obsessed since. I was able to finally go back for my bday dinner. This place dont miss..like ever..at all. Amazing Italian food. 🙌🏾
MoreWe loved everything!Lorenzo cocktail was SOOOO delicious then pasta yumAll very goodThe best was the fried calamari
MoreCute spot for dinner and drinks. I really liked their watermelon cocktail and the food was generally good but nothing sticks out as amazing. I live close by so would come back again.
MoreLove AURORA! My friend and I have dined here numerous times and the food, service and ambiance are always fabulous. This time around I ordered the omelette with mint (too lazy to look up the name of it). Delish! And delicious iced lattes too! Special shout out to our fantastic waiter Levi! Highly recommend!
MoreSuper lovely and beautiful space with great service! The food is DIVINE! We had the fried calamari and seafood appetizers which were excellent but the gazpacho stole my heart! For our mains We Loved the squid ink pasta, the chilled organic red wine, and the lunch special sea bass!
MoreHad the smoked trout Benedict, fantastic. Multigrain bread and avocado made it truly special. Outdoor seating. Easily an A++!
MoreWe went for dinner two weeks ago. My friend ate Uni spaghetti and drank a cocktail with watermelon. We are not sure which one was the issue, she got food poisoned right away at the restaurant. She had serious nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. She was visibly not well. I told the waiters about the situation. No one cared about the situation or offered anything to help. In the end, one of them came and said: “ we have a lot of reservations…” suggested that we have to leave. Because my friend really needed to go home and rest, we didn’t say anything on site. That was the worst experience we’ve ever had at a restaurant. We DID NOT feel respected at all. The restaurant should be held responsible for the food poisoning situation.
MoreFood was tasty. We had the aged steak medium rare. Tuna Tartare, Croquettes, and 2 Domino cocktails. The food was filling and satisfying. The waiter was attentive and kind
MoreThe ambiance is lovely and the service is quick on their feet. We could ask either server passing by for something and they were more than willing to help and with a smile. I had the grilled skirt steak and the broccoli rabe, and hazelnut romesco! My friend had the lamb! Everything was highly savory. I would definitely go back again.
MoreWe had our wedding in the garden at Aurora and it was truly magical! It was on a Friday afternoon with an intimate casual ceremony and a lunch following. Aurora has been a long time family favorite for us, so it was so special to have our wedding there. The Aurora staff was super helpful in crafting our menu and helping us plan the layout and flow of the event. All of the food and cocktails were AMAZING, the space was gorgeous, and overall it provided the perfect vibe for what we were looking for. Thank you so much Aurora!
MoreFood is great! Nice location, wonderfully decorated with lots of open space. Our food actually took around 25 mins to come but they apologized and explained it was a busy night (wedding partyand compensated us for appies and dessert so I was very impressed. Thats respectable service, for sure. Also they have a cute ice cream stand right outside for dessert!
MoreAwesome food. Serving portions are a little small. I think it would be nice to make them 50% larger. Otherwise great ingredients and great flavor. Not bombed out with oil and salt like many places. Would come again.
MoreHonestly, the place wouldn’t be too bad if I weren’t expecting to eat inside as per my reservation and they instead gave a table outside. Also there was a nail hanging below the table deck and I scratched my hand because of it. Moreover the offering is somewhat limited so if you go there and you’re famished don’t expect to be satisfied by their food.. the people working there are nice though and you can see they do their best to make you happy
MoreThis place is spot on in every way. Great outdoor seating. Service was incredible, our server - Juan - was prompt, professional and precise. The food was incredible!!! Asparagus with truffle and hazelnut was mouth watering. The spaghetti with pesto was THE BEST PESTO EVER!!! So tasty, so creamy, so fresh so freaking good!!! So freaking good!!! Best pesto ever. Did I mention the pesto here was super tasty? The steak with mushroom and greens was tasty but honestly the pesto blew my mind. Ill be back soon Aurora. Thanks for all the things :)
MoreFood is fine and wines are chosen happily, but the late-night staff on Saturday may 7 was not really present. Everything felt rushed, and she managed to interrupt our conversation three times over the course of the meal (pet peeve of mine -- who doesnt have time to wait for someone to finish their sentence without interrupting them?)
MoreVery nice dinner for my husbands birthday. Setting/surroundings are very pretty, the food was delicious and came out quickly. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing we really couldnt understand/disliked was how an "Italian" restaurant serves food and does not put bread out. Not a slice, a loaf, a roll, not even a bread stick. 🤦 My husband was raving about how delicious the sauce was but had no bread to dip..
MoreAwesome experience!! Background music was great, service was awesome!! Foods were flavorful, light sauces but delicious. Place was clean and inviting with a garden setting outside. They even served my bday hubby a complimentary tiramisu with a candle.
MoreSuper cute with a good, relaxed atmosphere. The service is actually pretty quick once you order things but the staff lets you go at your own pace without rushing you. The food is good, Id definitely recommend the pastas. I think the lemon ricotta cake couldve used a bit more flavor but I was still happy with it. And the drinks are good for the price point.
MoreItalian restaurant with a modern twist, and very interesting menu. The food was amazing, I recommend trying the Eggs Benedict with smoked trout, and the gelato. Delicious!
MoreGreat food and drinks amazing service however while I was enjoying my meal with the birthday girl two women and Im assuming the manager enter the area where we were eating. The trio was discussing a possible event for the space loudly I might add which was disruptive. Example "oh yeah we can fit 5 table here and about 50 ppl." Very disruptive and this went on for about 20 mins. I would suggest showing potential clients the space at a less busy times. This happened 3/2/22...
MoreLoved it. Quality quality quality. Came here with a group of six. Two of the group were hard core foreign Italians. When you see those two licking their fingers and complimenting on the quality of food you know you’d one well with picking a place. Place is sexy, food was incredible and the wine list well let’s just say we weren’t limited to the 4 bottles we went through. Great spot!!
MoreBeautiful atmosphere, attentive service, tasty food, small portions and small drinks. See photo for the less than full drink. Someone forgot that precision (4 oz! They defended). vs. generosity is the way to build loyalty. Won’t be going back any time soon.
MoreThis review is for Aurora’s delivery. This was unfortunately, a meal from hell. Typically, we’ve enjoyed and had little complaint about food from here— at most we found their cacio e pepe a little too salty. But recently, we received a mostly raw steak just lightly grilled, and a missing protein from our order. In the middle of eating the salad, I pulled out a 5-6 inch long piece of light hair (my partner and I both have dark hair). Not sure if it’s something with the Monday staff, or if some kind of rebellion is going on here, but extremely disappointing to see as we had previously thought this was some of the better Italian in the area. We were frustrated enough from the raw steak and missing dish but the hair tipped it past the point of return. Really gross experience. If you’re going to disregard this review, I can say their baby artichokes are delicious and their strangozzi is delightful based on previous orders. But to risk ordering from here for raw, undercooked food and a missing dish? And to risk chewing on a mouthful of someone’s hair? It’s just not worth it.
MoreShrimp a la plancha on the specials and tiramisu were amazing. Very polite staff. The place was packed even with a snow storm going so advisable to get reservations before going in.
MoreVibrant and romantic scene with consistently delicious Italian and a solid wine program. Don’t miss the chocolate torte. Charming heated outdoor dinning areas. The patio is surrounded by ivied walls and is a magical place to host a wedding or celebration.
MoreNice place with a cute atmosphere. Staff is great and let’s you relax without pressure to finish fast which is nice. Food was well cooked and had a ton of flavor and the pasta was portioned perfectly. They have a big wine selection and the waiter was knowledgeable and able to help pick up the perfect match. Lots of daily specials that are to die for! Good place for a special occasion dinner or just a classy night! Pretty much all of the dishes can be made gluten free and they also offer gluten free pasta, staff is knowledgeable about cross contamination and it’s safe for celiac people.
MoreExcellent experience at Aurora!Cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff and the food was top notch. It’s a little bit on the pricier side but so worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious. Can’t wait to go back!
Morehad dinner here with some friends. overall, we had a good experience. the cocktails were great, and the food was tasty.
MoreThe food it’s from heaven!!!!It transports you to a happy place .. it is amazing! The staff goes over and beyond to satisfy you , I was with a date . And he what’s a rude guy, trying to impress or be funny or who knows. he was plain rude to the waiter and they continue with a good attitude, with smile doing everything to please this guy can’t forget .. the drinks are fun refreshing different I had the INE that has turmeric, so good!
MoreTerrific Italian restaurant in Williamsburg, 10-min walk from the L train. Fun atmosphere and delicious options - without overwhelming you with choices. I was venturing here from the Upper West Side and totally loved it. Save room for dessert! #WillBeBack!
MoreExcellent experience. Friendly,Great environment and food was absolutely spectacular. Highly recommend
MoreI came in for Eggs Benedict with Crab however they too it out of the menu and added with trout instead of crab. My friend ordered smoked salmon with scrambled egg.It was a good meal, not my favorite since no crab. Trout had a smoky flavor.Overall, the staff is friendly however it’s really hard to get their attention and sometimes are very slow.
MoreGreat food and just 2 minutes away from one of the best views of the city! Staff super friendly and the place it self cozy!
MoreHad a great experience and the staff was so caring/amazing! The food was delicious and the deserts were very tasty!
MoreAfter our early evening at Domino Park. Im glad we ran into this place… is gorgeous! Plants all around the restaurant and it has indoor and outdoor patio. The whole vibe its amazing for a date or go with friends to catch up.Food was amazing and it was served within 15min after we ordered. Staff was very nice and courteous. From the server to the rest of the staff.I got the branzino with veggies, and some calamari, octopus and shrimp plate to share.100% recommended!
MoreGreat brunch option in Williamsburg that is always busy so make sure you make reservations! They have a wide array of drinks as well as a good amount appetizers and entrees to choose from - the eggs benedict is my personal recommendation. Looking forward to coming back in the near future.
MoreMy second time in Aurora. The food is always delicious. We got the calamari with shrimp. The pasta with pepper and cheese and the hanger steak from the special menu. The calamari and shrimp is tasty and delicious not too salty perfectly cooked. The homemade pasta is also delicious super cream and not too much pepper.I can’t remember the steak I got but it was perfectly cooked and tasty.Overall, I will always come back for this place. Also try their fruit soda it’s delicious !!!!Ambiance is amazing !
MoreFood was great especially the pasta and smoked salmon burger. It was a little packed when we went but very nice atmosphere and pretty garden 🪴
MoreThis is our 3rd year anniversary and we went to this awesome Italian spot. Had my doubts but they were really in it. Its kind hard to get GREAT steak in nyc that is also reasonably priced - this was amazing. Thé starters were beautiful - tuna tartare & Brussles sprouts salade. My fiancée was smiling after food (good sign)
MoreThis place was poppin on a Friday night! The main dining patio was full, so we sat in the enclosed area in front of the entrance. You had to have reservations, I believe. We ordered the fried calamari and shrimp, zucchini blossoms, and beet salad, for appetizers. For main entrees we ordered the arctic char, strip steak, squid ink pasta, and the bolognese pasta dish. For cocktails, we had the Domino, which was refreshing. I dont normally order drinks with tequila, but you couldnt even taste it. Everything tasted great, and wasnt too expensive. Sitting in the main dining patio would have been a nice ambience, but still, it was a great dining experience.
MoreQuick & delicious brunch! Shared the massive french toast, made to perfection, and had the steak & eggs for myself. So so so good! The staff is also very sweet. They even brought me water for my pup I had with me as we sat outside in the sun. Zero complaints- definitely worth a visit!
MoreProbably one of the best places I have had dinner !!! I recommend every dish that I try !! They are as good as they look in the pictures !!! Cocktail was amazing and dessert was was extremely good !! I will definitely come back to try brunch !! Service was very good to
MoreCant recommend it at all. Indoor dining went way over the allowed 50% capacity, not to mention the outdoor space which was super crowded. The tables were ridiculously small and it was impossible to sit there comfortably. The music was super loud, we couldnt keep up a conversation as we couldnt hear each other. Out waiter was absolutely terrible: he spilled my cocktail all over the place, to the floor and onto the table then spilled the fries as well to my husbands lap an on the floor--it hasnt even crossed his mind to replace the fries with a new one given that the 1/3 of it ended on the floor. The food is mediocre, the burger patty was chewy. The cocktail was awful: it shouldve been a mix of different drinks (hence the name and according to what was on the menubut I only could taste the very strong, cheap booze. A waste of money, not a pleasant memory whatsoever.
