Aunty Mena's Vegetarian Restaurant & Cafe - Vegetarian restaurant in Jimaguayú, Cuba
Friendly service. Very quiet lunch hour. Disappointing noodle option.
Not coming back. 25 min to serve a table for two, in a tiny reduced space.Vegetarians wont be getting a tiny fraction of their protein intake needs in this place. One of the dishes was uneatable- spicy, the oner one was almost noodles with a couple of vegetables.
Good food but has a long wait. Dont go if you want your food in 30minutes.
Great meal. Very flavorsome and good meal size. Will return.
Had the wonton noodle soup and the spring rolls they were amazing!! Definitely keen to try more of the menu
I’ve been visiting for a decade now, and it’s great Aunty Mena’s remains a Wellington institution. Curry Noodles, veggie balls forever :-)
Yum! I had the mee goreng, and the roti! Service was prompt and efficient. Food was hot and delicioua and a very good price. I definately will be back!
If you are looking for an affordable and delicious meal look no further than Aunty Menas. This food truely warms my soul, and is a great place to go on a cold Wellington day (which is many days of the year). The chicken laksa is my favourite dish, and the drumsticks are a delicious starter. Highly recommend!!
Really generous and tasty portions of vegetarian food, I left feeling very satisfied. Thank you
Excellent selection of vegan food, healthy and well priced
This is an odd one. Many of the reviews are positive and all sorts of good things are stuck on their window so I thought Id try Menas because I love vegetarian Asian food. But you only have to look at the images to see what you will get no matter what you order. Some soggy vegetables - mainly carrot and cauliflower in an underwhelming tasteless stock over-dominated by turmeric and sugar, often with soggy overcooked noodles. I sampled a friends mock dish (meat replacementand it had the texture and taste of luncheon sausage (in the same tasteless broth). Nothing had the sharp tastes and vegetable crispness I associate with good Asian (vegetariancuisine. 2 stars is generous. Much better to go to a good Asian restaurant and order their vegetarian dishes.
Favourite vegetarian place to go to in Welly! Great food and great price :)
One of my all time favourites. Aside from being 100% vegan, all their dishes are an absolute delight and dont break the bank. Personnel is friendly as and always willing to go the extra mile for a guest.Very glad theyre well again after a short downtime due to covid. You guys rock!
Great spot. Tasty food. Brilliant vegetarian. Had the Roti Chanai. Highly recommend. Awesome place with friends.
My daughter got food poisoning there and I was nauseous also after eating there this past weekend, disappointed after nearly 15 yrs of it being a guaranteed quality meal. They haven’t responded to any messages about it either. Might take a while to consider going back.
Enjoyed our food so much and customer service was good.
Mock chicken laksa was very tasty, highly recommend. I also liked their fried dumplings. The only dish I wouldn’t recommend is char kway teow, I find that less flavoursome comparing to the other two dishes.
Aunty Mena’s is the perfect place to go if you want to be looked after. “Soul Food” doesn’t even begin to describe the kinds of meals they serve; I always come away feeling satisfied and very happy after their delicious kai! Try the Roti Canai with potato, you will not be disappointed!
One of my favorite places to eat in Wellington. They do the most amazing food and even my most carnivorous friends love this place. The dining area has a casual and lively vibe and the staff are always friendly. They do pickup takeaways, too. Cant recommend enough!
Beautiful meals as always. We took two friends for their first time at Aunty Menas. They loved it, and they will definitely be back.
Im a regular patron after being taken to a small family run business called Aunty Menas, specifically to try their world famous in Wellington Laksa soup, awesome and totally recommend! But do try their other equally great menu. Plenty of seating and friendly staff, situated in Wellingtons cool Cuba mall.
Consistently delicious food. I’ve tried many things on their menu; all great. Lovely people and environment <3
April is the loveliest staff member ever, always such a pleasure to see her and the wonton noodle soup is to die for! Hands down one of my favourite places in Wellington
Incredibly large portions for the price and amazing vegetarian/vegan range for that small kitchen...definitely have to return for more...Ive found it always full...sometimes have to wait for a table to clear!;)
Have been coming here for YEARS and I will never tire of it. It is one of the most wondrous places in wellington, for vegans and non vegans alike. If you want to leave will a full belly and nourishment in your eyes, please consider waltzing into this delightful nook of deliciousness.
Absolutely gorgeous vegan food every time! I live in Lower Hutt and its worth the trip. People travel from Eketahuna for this! Best food hands down vegan or not a must try!
Ive been eating at this amazing family owned restaurant for over a decade, its definitely stood the test of time. The menu hasnt really changed much since, and it really doesnt have to. This place is incredibly affordable and homely. All the other attempts at vegan fried rice in Wellington simply cant compete with their Nasi Goreng. Their piping hot Laksa is well worth the wait it takes to cool down.
Omg the vegan laksa is amazing!
Fast, efficient, no frills. I would recommend, my vegan wonton noodles were delicious. The fried rice that someone else had on the table wasnt really fried so slightly disappointed but Id come back and try something else.
Best vegetarian place in Wellington. Food is off the scale. Fast, efficient service. No frills inside. Just good food fast and everything is vego.
Love it! This vege food is to die for. Any dish, take your pick. Dont be put off by the unappealing interior decor (or lack of). The delicious food will have you seeing past that and going back for more. Weve been coming here for years. Our go-to dishes are Nasi Goreng Curry Paste with hot chilli paste on the side (Only for those that like seriously hot chilli!and the Laksa. So damned morish.
Even if you’re not vegan, you owe it to yourself to at least try a meal this legendary establishment, which has kept its quality up even now! Most folks go for laksa soup, but I much prefer the curries, especially the “lamb” and “fish!” Also make sure not to skip the vegan chicken drumsticks, which are some kind of delicious black magic. The sago dessert is also very nice for a finish!
Excellent and affordable vegan food. Everything I have ever had here has been delicious, large portion sizes. The drumsticks are a must.Service is very efficient.
Highly recommend the chicken laksa. Great no-frills restaurant. Be warned that it is hard to pay them since they only accept NZ cards and cash 🙃
The place is really crowded and lively. Ordered wanton soup and it was really good. It was so flavourful despite being the filllings were made from veges. The ginger tea was really nice, it warms up your whole body, the perfect drink for a cold winter day.
This place is a must. I stopped by to try a couple of dishes and was positively surprised by such a delicious meal. Best ever fried dumplings and roti bread. Even though I dont follow a vegetarian diet I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone that enjoy good food at a fair price.
Mmmmh kinda okay. Big portions but not a fan. Laksa is good though.
Simply amazing! This is my favourite place to eat in Wellington. Its all vegetarian/vegan friendly so you pick anything from the menu and everything is delicious. Great flavours, good food and the mock meat is extremely convincing. Will be frequenting here. Cant say enough good things!
Delicious curry laksa, vegan and full of goodness. The place is a hole in the wall in Cuba Street, with a loyal following and commendable menu filled with diverse meatless Southeast Asian/Malaysian dishes. Prices are good, and portions are ample.
Aunty menas is always a good time!Food is so well priced for what you get!Food is always fast, tasty and super filling!!!
Had a really great time here. Food was very delicious and healthy. Highly recommend to all vegetarians and non-vegetarians as well!
The welcome was quick and we were directly led to a table. The order was taken immediately and the food was served a short time after that. They really have a lot of vegan and vegetarian dishes which you all want to try :-)The food itself was very good. There were not so many noodles in our dishes, so if you are craving for having noodles, maybe this isnt the real "pasta place", even if noodles are mentioned in the dish description :-)We were placed on a table in the middle of the room, near the kitchen. It was a little bit restless as the staff was constantly passing by our table. The service was friendly.Accepts no credit cards (I wanted to pay with VISA, which wasnt possible).
Went on a Thursday at 1830 and the place was packed, but we got a table for two quite quickly. We ordered the nuggets for $8 and two mains which were about $13 each. All the food was delicious, portions were pretty huge and service was good and quick.
Good service. Quick to be served and the staff is nice. Also I had the noodle and dumpling soup and I found the portion was alright for $13 but it could be a bit more.About the taste its good but nothing fantastic. Will give it another go because the staff is lovely and I want to try one of their main dish.It is a little restaurant so I guess its better to book a table if you planning to come along on a Friday or Saturday evening.
If you are searching for Wellington’s physical manifestation of the Source, look no further than Aunty Mena’s. The steamed buns can heal childhood traumas, the curry noodle can mend broken bones and the roti chenai can be used to communicate with the dead. Value for money if you ask me. Godspeed Aunty you are gracious public servant and we will love you forever.
Fantastic food at affordable prices. Would highly recommend to anyone, whether you usually eat meat or not, youll definitely love it!
So amazing! This is the best of any type of Asian food I’ve had in New Zealand for sure. The steam buns and potato curry were perfect. The service was fast and really friendly. Great location on Cuba st! :)
Best Malaysian vegetarian food so far! Must try nasi lemak. Better than Queens town
I cant praise Aunty Menas highly enough. Ive eaten here several times, and everything was spectacular (especially the Laksa and Dumpling Laksa). Everything is cooked fresh to order at the front of the restaurant, the staff are warm and welcoming, and you can taste how much love and care goes into the food.
Good vegan Asian food. Its not too expensive and you get a lot for what you pay for. I spent $40 and ended up with dinner, lunch and dinner the next night. The satay sticks are my favorite. It gets pretty busy as its quite popular, so be prepared to wait a little bit if you are more than 2 people
