Went here on a whim when returning to Dublin from galway City, just myself and my son, it was a really enjoyable experience, the venue though small has some fantastic displays and assortment of historical artifacts to view, the person who was working today was very informative and helpful and I would recommend for any history enthusiast.

A bit too expensive for what theres to see. The video dates back to 1993 and it doesnt have been updated or improved... It was nice to learn what happened during the battle but Id have like to see a more modern display.

Excellent centre and village. This battle was won and lost by the Irish and lost and won by the invading forces under the English flag. Each side lost about 4,000 combatants. A proper gravel path to the large cross dedicated to the French general Luke and remains of the significant remains of a castle should be a priority.

Was recommended to come over from Portumna and am glad we did. A lovely little centre which highlights lesser known aspects - but key elements - of Irish history.

The Battle of Aughrim was the decisive battle of the Williamite War in Ireland. It was fought between the Jacobite Irish Army and the forces of William III on 12 July 1691, near the village of Aughrim, County Galway. The battle was one of the more bloody recorded fought on Irish soil – over 7,000 people were killed. WikipediaIt changed the course of Irish history for the worse.Unfortunately the centre is closed for the winter but the village is worth visiting and the signage is good

Visited the place having been to the nearby Workhouse and was happy we made the time. The young lady there was delightful and took us on a one-on-one tour. A great place to spend an afternoon and broaden your knowledge of Irish history.

Was lucky enough to visit the centre during the summer when it was open and really enjoyed the day. This is an important historical site (in understanding modern Irelandand should be visited by as many schools in the region as possible.

Muy interesante el museo. Si te gusta la historia es el lugar ideal para volver al pasado. Lo único que tienen folletos en muchos idiomas excepto en Castellano. Por lo demás, genial.

The Kelly Clan Association held a recent Council meeting at the centre in preparation for our bi-annual gathering which is being held at Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, Co May on the weekend of 15-17 May. The centre facilitated us admirably and supplied us with refreshments. We were also able to "skype" our members in USA and Australia while at the meting. We visited the Kelly Clan native oak tree in the gardens nearby which was planted in memory of the fallen at the Battle of Aughrim; the tree is thriving and looking healthy. We had a walk around the environs of the historic village of Aughrim which was most interesting. We will be returning again in the near future. Many thanks to Julie Cruise for looking after us so well and organsiing everything for us.
