6 Rue de Fourcy, 75004 Paris, France, Châtillon
Set in a 17th-century stone building on a side street in the Marais district, this relaxed hostel is 2 minutes' walk from a metro stop, an 11-minute walk from the 13th-century Notre-Dame de Paris and 2 km from The Louvre.Simple single-sex dorms and private rooms offer free Wi-Fi and private bathrooms. All have street or courtyard views; some feature bunk beds, and/or sloped ceilings and wood-beamed accents.Continental breakfast is free. There's a low-key restaurant in a stone vaulted cellar. Additional amenities include an inner courtyard with seating, and a common room with books and games.
Comfy beds, reasonably priced and awesome location.
It’s a beautiful space but the hostel lacks a bit of vibe and character. I didn’t interact with anyone after 3 nights there - it’s set up in a rather cold way. Rooms don’t have lockers which was a bit annoying. There are toilets in the hallway but no sink there. Inside the room there is a sink and a shower but no hand soap.Overall - space is great, you get what you need. I think it could be organized a lot better to improve the vibe, especially given how centrally located it is
This was the second time I stayed at Mije Marais, and once again I was very happy with my stay. The rooms are clean and warm, the bed is comfy, the shower is good, so is the breakfast - which is included - and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the internet didnt reach my room (on the 4th floor), but it worked well downstairs.
This is my third time staying with MIJE in Paris. I have loved my experience each time. The rooms are clean and the community is solid. I love the common/social spaces, like the courtyard and lounge areas. The piano is a great touch, and the location cannot be beat!
It’s super cool to stay in such nice historical buildings with this low budget. Pretty cool for academic group. Wish the breakfast can be better and they know what’s club membership.
I stayed in a small female dorm with ensuite bath. The room was basic and historic but well-maintained and quiet, with a lovely view of the courtyard. I had no security issues with the self-serve luggage room. There was a visiting school group, but they stayed in designated areas. The location was very convenient for morning walks on the Seine or in Le Marais; it felt more residential and was still central. As a solo traveler, it’s more a place to sleep than to meet other travelers - most people were in groups - but I felt safe in the area.
Great hostel, very well localised.
The hostel itself is nice and the staff is really kind and helpful. The problem is that the rooms with the beds have no doors so you can hear everyone at night using the bathroom or coming home late at night. That is quite annoying and makes it hard to sleep.
Very comfortable and clean place with an amazing, very Parisienne interior - will be back!
I liked the hostel very much. The space was very pretty and the staff was very nice!
Location top to visit the city and calm place to stay, not so good quality breakfast better to enjoy french food outside.
Beds arent terrible. Clean sheets.Close to two nearby metro stations and bus routes. Short walks away from Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle and other sights.However...The place looks nothing like the photos! Grim and grubby bedrooms and showers. No AC, 1 plug socket in a room of shared people (people were even using the sockets next to the sink to charge phones, broken lights (which have been reported but left unfixed... At least for the full 4 nights I was there), no lockers for belongings, even the advertised luggage room I wouldnt consider secure as guests are allowed in and out alone to take their own bags in, youre "NOT ALLOWED" in your room between 12&3 while they get cleaned, not much available for the inclusive breakfast aside from lumpy yogurts, baguettes and two types of cereal.Low regard for disability access needs too; I had to request three times (once in a message before my stay and twice at receptionfor a bottom bunk bed due to balance issues from an inner ear issue (hearing aid user alsoto be told that it would depend on availability... It took showing my disability rail card to aid my explanation that I wasnt trying to be awkward! Thankfully, a room of bottom bunks was available though I was assured that in the event that there wasnt, another room would be sourced which was kind. They must realise their shortcomings as cancellations made before a stay EVEN AT NO NOTICE will still receive partial refunds but they also have a policy that says "Any stay initiated and interrupted by the customer is due in [fall], whatever the reason. No reimbursement will be made."... So basically if you check in and then realise how bad it is, they wont refund?!I forgot to mention that some of the shower rooms dont have doors, the showers are mostly cold/take AGES to warm up (not a problem during this heatwave mind but cant imagine it would be good in other seasonsand both showers I tried had to be held due to broken shower head holders!
This is a simple, clean and relaxed youth hostel in the heart of Paris. The old building has been renovated beautifully which makes for a quirky array of rooms. I was lucky enough to sleep in a chambre de bonne (on the top floorwith a gorgeous rooftop view, including the Effel Tower! There is seating in the courtyard, some common seating areas and a restaurant that serves a simple breakfast included in the price.Bear in mind that this is a youth hostel and youre more likely to find school groups lounging in the common areas than a party vibe, so if thats what youre looking for you might wish to look elsewhere.I had a comfortable night and felt safe.My suggestions for improvement are: to fix the USB charging ports by the bed (cute idea but mine didnt workand to sort out the hot water situation (it was okay this time to take a cool shower because of the heatwave but on another occasion this could have been a big disappointment!)
Nice hostelThe staff is very friendlyEverything available
Beautiful old building, quiet court inside. Very relaxed multi-purpose rooms with beamer, lounging furniture and modern lights nicely contrasting with the sandstone walls and massive wooden beams still visible at the ceiling.
Great hostel! Nice, clean place at a great location to a great price!
I stayed here 2 nights, overall neat and tidy in the room, has own lamp next to the bed, includes free breakfast(bread, yogurt, Cereals, coffee, tea, orange juice, jam, butter). Down side is mold on the bathroom, no refrigerator, only two charge places with 3 people in the room. One of thing that make me unhappy. They have 3 hostel, I booked in the website, they emailed said they will email me when date is closer and let me know which hostel will be, so I got email said I will be in MIJE Maubuisson hostel, when I arrived on the day to drop my luggage, she said I’m in other hostel, I told her I got the email I will be here, she said her coworker made mistakes, sorry, each hostel isn’t far, but it’s annoyed that if you have a big luggage.
Not suitable for adults. This is a dorm for youngsters, kids, children. They shouldnt allow mixing of generations. This was the most uncomfortable hostel Ive ever used. Uncomfortable beds, no doors on bathroom, toilets outside in corridors and no basin in toilets, which is very unsanitary. Included breakfast was a joke.
A lovely place to stay. Simple room (some may say old-fashionedbut in the centre of the most beautiful city in the world. The crew is very welcoming, does its best to help or/and advise you. A quiet place in a noisy capital. You will realise then thats a precious advantage too !
The accomodation was good. Particularly the bedrooms where clean and tidy. Unfortunately the breakfirst was very smal and there was a missing diversity. At diner my friend ordered vegetarian food and he got fish. Toilettes where clean but the toilettepaper was really inconvenient. Employees where friendly and helpful.
The location - 5-10 mins walk from museums in Le Marais, Place des Vosges, la Seine, 2 mins walk from St Paul metro - is the best one can ask for at this price point. The building and courtyard is beautiful. The dormitory was clean, quiet and comfortable. The single room was disturbed by noise (though that is understandable with school groups staying nearbyand the bed was confined behind a wall and cupboard, but again it was incredible value for money and a very pleasant stay all in all.
The only reason I stay here is for the location. Also the building is attractive. What is missing is the possibility to make myself a cup of tea.. The lounge area is small and rudimentary.
Would recommend this hostel to any friend staying in Paris! So clean, 24/7 reception, and the Staff was so friendly. All at a great price :)
Worst service ever. Thought it would be like a hostel, room super tiny, not even done upon arrival, no shampoo, breakfast is not a breakfast. The night manager and the direction dont care about the customer. I never left a bad review in my entire life so it says how angry and disappointed I feel about this place!
Budget hostel close to city center. Hostel staff confirmed our reservation of 2 rooms for 3 purple for 2 nights by several email and telephone exchange. However on our arrival we were told at checkin that one of our room is unavailable as another guest extended their stay. We found it highly unprofessional to not let us know before arrival. Our group was split into different hostels. The staff apologised for inconvenience. The hostel is not consistently clean. Several areas had unpleasant odors abs hinted bare minimum maintenance. Breakfast was modest with limited options.
Had a great time there! The breakfast cafe is underground and it’s so cool! Would definitely stay there again. I stayed in a room that had low ceiling. Made me feel like I was 10 feet tall lol.
Not great overall. Lots of kids when I stayed here such that they were loud after midnight or even at 1 am. No hot water or barely any water pressure in my room and j complained again and again until finally after like four days they put me in another room. Would not recommend overall.
Very kind staff! The sheets were clean upon arrival and the room was OK. Very good location in the center of Paris, close to Notre Dame. The breakfast is very sober, some ham or cheese would have been nice. There was a luggage room with CCTV, but no individual lockers so be sure to bring a small lock to secure your luggage. Overall, a decent hostel, but not the right place if you want to connect with fellow travelers.
We had a really nice stay at the Mije hostel. The quartier is obviously beautiful, in the Marais, the staff was really nice and helpful and we had a beautiful 3-bed bedroom with aPrivate bathroom all to ourselves. We went out and came back in the early morning, someone was always there to welcome us which is really nice. Another plus point was the room and sheets were spotless, which is very important for us. The building itself is beautiful. Only problem we had was we were in a room right next to the lift and everytime someone used it, it made a sound and held one of us awake.. so maybe turn off the sound of the lift or better sound isolation? Thank you anyway! Perfect for a small group
I loved my experience at Mije. It is set in a prime location with easy access to all public transports. i loved the staff and how helpful everyone was at the hostel. Loved coming to the quiet of the room after a long bustling day in Paris. The only one thing I found limiting was the lack of an electric socket by my bunk bed. I got the top bunk and there was no electric socket for me. I found this odd as every hostel I have been to had individual sockets arranged for each bunk bed.But apart from that- everything was lovely!
Excellent location, very clean, but many school groups come here, so not the best for solo travelers. Breakfast is not so good, baguettes always dry. But I had a good time here
The building is really nice, the rooms are cleaned daily and the breakfast is included. The place is a 25-30 minutes walking from the main museums (Louvre, DOrsay, Orangerie...).
Ive stayed here twice, once in 1997 and again in 2019. Both times I loved my room, the comfy bed and simple breakfast. Both buildings Ive stayed I were extremely clean and beautiful. The location is amazing for accessing almost anywhere in Paris, either on foot or public transportation. I look forward to staying here again.
The location is great. The room was warm and clean. There was no common kitchen area to use. The building is amazing from the architecture point of view and the stares are very old.
This hostel is amazing. Its like a luxury hostel with crisp white sheets, daily housekeeping and a free little breakfast. The building is beautiful and peaceful and in a very good location in the center of Paris, next to the river. I don’t know if it’s the best place to meet other travelers but other than that it’s amazing.
Great location, easy access to the RER B from Chatelet-les-Halles to CDG/Orly airports via St Pauls Station. 10.20€ each way FYI as of October 2019. Breakfast included and generous, easy to have in a rush to the airport. Quick check in and check out. Helpful staff in all areas. Comfortable room, I slept in the 3 bed female dorm, spacious and clean. Only negative would be sound carries. I use earbuds when I travel because Im a light sleeper and there was no helping the situation with how loud other guests were in the hostel. Ill be back when Im next in Paris. ♥️ Thanks friends.
Pros:Excellent location (Marais)Sparkling clean room and shower room, ladies make bed and clean the room everyday.Has a chilled courtyard and common roomBreakfast includedCons:- Breakfast sucks big time (free coffee is terrible, but you can pay 50 cents for a much better espresso, available in the hidden vending machine in the common room )- Lots of groups (families/ school staying in this hostel so it is challenging to meet fellow travellers in the common room- no kitchen facilitiesI will come to this hostel again if i can find vacancies, they seems to be very popular so booking in way avance is advised.
Hostel was in a gorgeous building and in the perfect location. The staff was lovely and the free breakfast was a great added plus. However I am giving it three stars as during our stay there were approximately 50 middle/high schoolers staying there that made our stay rather unpleasant; they were incredibly loud and disrespectful to the fact that they werent the only ones in this hostel, and the staff did nothing to quiet them during the quiet hours unfortunately
Very lovely place to stay in Paris. Helpful & friendly staff, comfortable & clean beds & rooms. Excellent location makes it easy to walk or metro around the city. Light breakfast to get your day going. I didnt mind that internet was only in the common room, but it was very weak and unreliable, even on just one device.
Staff were really friendly and approachable which is really important when travelling solo. Great location. Very basic roomHowever, you can hear the noise from outside easily because the way the buildings are designed. I didnt get much sleep.
It’s a good hostel. Excellent location and safe, 24h concierge to buzz you in from outside. Room for 8 (actually split into 3 and 5was clean and had two showers and two toilets. As others have said, there are not many electrical outlets in the room, wifi did not reach my room well, and free breakfast was limited (but what can one expect from a hostel). Overall, a very positive experience.
This youth hostel in central Paris was a decent place to stay for the price. We stayed Aug. 3- Aug 9, 2018 for the Gay Games in Paris. The price was great. We had a 2 person private room. This included a small bathroom with shower and sink only. The toilets are public and are down the hall from your room. The staff was mediocre. If it was past 11 pm, the night time security guards slept on duty and some times did not buzz you into the hotel. We had to be let inside by hotel guests who were exiting. Walked right past hotel security who is sleeping in his chair. Didnt make us feel safe when they are sleeping on the job.The cleaning staff we encountered was also disappointing and rude. Some days they cleaned our room and made the beds nicely. Other times, they didnt make the beds at all and left dirty cleaning rags inside of our room. One time when we came into our room, they cleaning lady was just sitting on a stool in our room doing nothing. We had to ask her to leave but were wondering why she was sitting in our room doing nothing.Another cleaning woman barged into our room while we were resting in bed and would not leave after I asked her. I had to yell at her and forcibly close the door on her as she was insistent on mopping our floor with us in the room. This was unacceptable and very rude. She didnt speak one word of English and was yelling at us in French. We didnt care that our floor would not be mopped. Also, its very hard to rest here. There is always loud noises by the cleaning staff and the courtyard door slamming every 10 minutes. We stayed during a heatwave in Paris and had to purchase a fan from a local store just to stay in our room. The temperature in our room was 32 degrees C/ 90 degrees F. No climate control or fans provided. We almost left and stayed in another place with climate control. Also had to purchase a towel for 6 euro.It was decent for the price and had a nice courtyard to relax in. Maybe other rooms are better but this particular location werent the best. The one around the corner had better rooms and seemed like a nicer overall building. The location was just 2 minute walk to Saint Paul Metro station and 10 minute walk to Hotel DeVille which was convenient. Overall 2/5 star rating. Great price, but thats about it.
Definitely one of the best hostels I stayed at if you are looking for a clean quiet spot. Prime location. Castle like building. WiFi only in common area, and elevator is in the weird location, so depending on where your room is you may have to carry your bags upstairs yourself. But the view is well worth it. The staff was very friendly.
I stayed there for 2 nights. I really liked the environment and staffs. There are couple problems that I would like to mention;1. the internet connection is very poor2. the collection of people in the room was very weird it could be better if stayer could fill a questioner in advance; that way people with same kind of interests and age would be in the same room .Merci
Cheap and cheerful, so dont expect much. Dont forget it is a hostel in the end, we stayed in a small room, for bed with inside toilet/shower. It really met our expectations. Bear in mind charger sockets are scarce and they close the rooms for cleaning during lunch time. Safety is a plus. Well recommended.
Good quality price, decent bedrooms, though with a bad quality wall shower, which sprays half your dry hair in the process. However I know that not all bedrooms were like this; the ones on the upper level are of better quality. Overall nice breakfast and decent self service.
When I come to Paris for one night I stay here. There is only one private (Room 10with two twin beds, large space and private bath with shower 92€ a night. Extremely clean, cozy, safe. Excellent friendly professional staff and great little breakfast included. Near everything from shopping to Metro and buses. Highly recommend this lovely place unlike any youth hostel Ive ever seen.
The rooms were fine. Really, they were great, no complaints about them. But the restrooms.... Omg, they were disgusting. I didnt even want to use them. And the breakfast/dinner/lunch food sucked :( oh, and since it is a hostel, I should also say that there is absolutely NO interaction between guests. If youre a solo traveler, trust me, you wont have any fun there.
Wifi becomes slow to not functional with many people, which is often because of school groups. We must leave our rooms from 12 to 3 pm for housekeeping. Breakfast is included. It well located, and is near good shopping, transportation (metro and bus stops), and famous historical/tourist sites and museum. It is cozy.
Wi-Fi works in the ground floor only, strongest in the courtyard.Rooms were big and neat.Lockers are offered inside a secure room, in which they allow to store luggage for residents. The hostel seems very good for large groups, there were many of them throughout my stay.Breakfast was a little dull, a peace of baguette, jam, butter, a pastry and coffee or orange juice. That was the only downside. But I enjoyed my stay and it suited my traveling needs. Thanks!
