Atap OD - Restaurant in Yong Peng, Malaysia
My impression of Yong Peng is the rest stop which doesnt give me a good impression on food taste. However, for those who drive into the town has alot more of selection, after googling what to eat at this Atap house, it did not disappoint me on the fried wanton, fried noodle with some wok hey fragrance, coffee is quite good as well. Total price less than 14rm.
Fuk Chou 福州 干面 dried noodle is tastier than the wet version. Very similar to the hokkian mee, the shape of noodle is diffrent.Egg soup is like the shark fin soup with nothing else but egg, pork, and authentic vinegar. Very very hot. Fried fish cake serve with thai sauce, appetizing.Open space, just the flies are alot and annoying. House brand prepack noodle is available.
Come here because of the review. But seem like overrated Lor Mee not thick enough. The fried noodle taste much better. Coffee and Teh C is nice. But Portion is big, two dishes can share for 3 person.
Love their fried noodles more thanthat of braised noodles 🤣 their service was fast 👍 do come earlier if you do not want to wait for the seat, very crowded during lunch time 🤣
Full house when I was there. Lor Mee is ok, the fried noodle taste so so only. Fish cake taste good.
This can consider very reasonable priced Fuchow food restaurant in Yong Peng I visited. All the noodles are priced RM7 for smallest portion by the time I written this review. Loh mee, Egg soup, otak-otak are above average compare to others.
Loh mee and fish cake are recommended.
first time visit. heard from friend that is good. we ordered fry, braised and lor mee. the fry one is the best. with all wok hei. smokey and flavourful. for lor mee is a little bit too sweet, must eat with vinegar, only it brings out more flavour. for the braised, it looks like hokkien mee, but less flavour.as the otak was really good. but u were not a fan of fish cake. probably next time i would just order the fried version and with otak. that would be the best combination.
福州卤面is nice. 炒面is sweet n ok. Dont bother to try the fish cake, it is not crunchy n not worth the RM 5 price tag.
Old skool makan worth trying, a bit starchy. will come again
Friendly order-taker. Noodles, savoury but not salty. Crispy fried wantan. Aromatic fish cake. Suitable for kids. No aircond, airy place.
Super good noodle served and price are reasonable
Lor Mee so so only.Fried noodle OK.Egg soup, fishcake, otak OK.Wont really go 2nd time.
Egg soup is better than 福州 Lor Mee.Lor mee with strong vinegar taste but don’t forget add the special sour chilli sauce.- 1 star Flies flying around at noon time. Keep chasing flies away from food.Easy parking.
The main Lor mee started at 8.30 am. Please take note.
Lor Mee, Fried Kway Teow, Muar Otah, Fried Fishcake. Came here for the lor mee as a pit stop. This is worth a stopover if you are heading to KL!
Reasonable price and food portion just nice. Need to be patient because the noodles take time to cook. The fish cake is abit salty. They accept eWallet payment
Food is so-so. Staff is not so polite. Lots of flies. Have to chase away the flies while eating.Price is reasonable.
Overall, the food is overrated. The waitress is very rude to customer. The environment is quite warm.
Food is nice. Loh Mee is nice. Fish cake is nice. Wantan not bad. But staff is abit rude.
Must try their Lo Mee, that the flavour you unable to found it in KL.
Very basic and nice noddle. Price acceptable but place cleanness could be much improve
Foo Chow noodles are delicious and price is reasonable, been eating here for so many years ever since I was a child.
Hock chiew noodle just so so. Average hawker standard. Pork lard in the noodle not really lift up the taste. 3 starsLoh mee below average. Vinegar too strong to my liking. Nothing worth mdntioned. 2 starsEgg soup was ok. Similar taste as sgark fin soup. 3 stars
My first time here was very memorable, and thats why I could not forget how authentic the food here. It was a very long night the previous day, and the very next morning we had to rush to Labis where my friend stopped here for breakfast (they starts at 7amwhile on the way. They used to operate from a rundown shack hence the name (Atap OD).. cantonese translate into rumah atap. This is one gem in Yong Peng that the locals patronise - as this place serves authentic Foo Chow foods where people eat on day-to-day basis. For the uninitiated, Yong Peng is predominantly Foo Chow community.I brought along as associates here and they loved it a lot. In fact one of them had come here years ago but had forgotten the name and location, and he thanked me for bringing back the memory again.◾Foo chow loh mee - Ive tasted many loh mee in PJ, KL or even the famous Ulu Yam but nothing come close to this. When it was served, you could see the thick gooey and almost black sauce covering the bowl... And underneath it was the perfectly braised noodle packed with robust flavour which was sourish, savoury, sweet and umami. The smell of black vinegar and the prawn stock was prominent as I rolled the noodle with chopstick. This is stark difference with the normal loh mee that I had in Ulu Yam. That is because they add the vinegar while cooking, resulting in the vinegar being absorbed fully by the noodle and sauce. I am normally not a fan of vinegar but I found myself liking this.◾Dry style fried Foo chow mee - could taste the wok hei although could be better, but good nonetheless as it has the similar flavour of the famous fried noodle back in my hometown. And the chilly sauce complimented the noodle perfectly.◾Deep fried wantan - perfect snack while waiting for your noodle. Freshly fried on the spot and best consumed piping hot.◾Fried fish cake - another must order dish as the texture was good, while the flavour shone.◾Otak-otak - I could taste the chunky fish meat in the delicious Otak-otak. One of those that I could never get enough of... Comparable to those I had in Muar honestly. Please order this... Be careful when they serve as the plate will be very hot.Atap OD is definitely the good place to enjoy delicious and yummy foo chow noodle in a small town setting. Its pretty basic, not in anyway retro or nostalgic but the food made up for it.
The foods overall was not bads.
The best loh mee in Yong Peng (in my own list). The taste is superb especially when it mixed with the vinegar. Tried fried mee hoon (dryas well but it is quite normal in my opinion. If you like loh mee, this is a must try in Yong Peng!
Their fried noodles is so delectable. This taste never changes after so many years.
Very Very Very good food! A nice pit stop if you are drive up north on the north south highway. Every single dish we ordered was very good. The Otah was filled with chunky fish meat, the fishcake was marinated perfectly. Very special Lor Mee and Hor Fun that can only be found in this part of Malaysia. HIghly Recommended. They only open for lunch and they sells out fast so you need to be early, otherwise you will miss it.
Food delicious, price reasonable, toilet clean.
I like the fried noodle
I have been to this place since I was 7 years old when they were still at a little tiny hut. My family will go to this place everytime we go to Kuala Lumpur. They have the best loh Mee, foo chow noodles, dry vermicelli and Kueh tiow. My favorite is loh Mee where I’ll eat with dark vinegar and dip in the garlic and fresh blended chilies!
A popular local eatery serving Fuk Chow noodles (pardon if I got the exact semantics wrong). These are the gems that people should visit. The day-to-day local food that is passed down inter-generations.The Fuk Chow fried noodle is reminiscent of KLs hokkien noodle with its unique type of noodle texture. Definitely worth trying. Dont forget to order the Otak (a local delight of steamed spicy fish-pasteand fried fish cake. This will make a great meal!
Trying the Famous yong Peng Lor mee. Taste good
Price OK. Lor mee - too much noodle. Taste OK. Flies flying around.
Food is nice however you need to be patient on food deliver. It took at least half an hour waiting.
Great food at reasonable price
Most delicious local Fu Zhou cuisine. Price cheap for good foods. Be polite to staffs because they are all seniors.
Nice noodles, many choice, friendly servìce
The lor mee was pretty amazing. Strongly flavoured and great textures. A must visit
I love the Food there especially the Fu chow mee, egg soup and otak
Delicious local food (hokkien noodle dry/gravy, meet hoon, ..and affordable.
Came here on the strength of the rating. Wasnt disappointed. The lu mien, the egg, drop soup, the fish cakes and the otak-otak are very good. Only need to speak the lingo.
Great hock chew mee although environment no so clean
Stopped by Yong Peng for the famous Fuzhou fried mee, braised mee, and fried fish cake. Fuzhou fired mee is full of garlicky taste, and noodle cooked to just right. Braised mee is cooked with black vinegar but it tastes rather sweet. The fish cake taste really like the home made type. Yumsss.😋🤤
Famous for its noodles serving. However, do not expect nice environment.
If you never tried their hokkien fried noodles, you never know whats delicious in noodles yet.
Yummy fried mee...The chili sauce is spicy...home made fish cake is worth to try
One of the famous Yong Peng noodles restaurant that offer multiple delicious Chinese noodles dishes. A must try if you stop by Yong Peng. Can be very pack especially on weekend in the morning.
Fried hokkien noodles and the fish cake side dishes are good. I think thats the main dish at this place, but they do it well. Will visit again.
