I loved this little museum! Some utterly beautiful small artefacts from Elephantine Island. The temple complex and excavated dwellings around the museum are very well worth spending time exploring. We had a guide with us that really helped bring the place alive. My advice would be to not miss visiting this underrated treasure on your visit to Aswan!

The main museum is still closed, and I would have liked to hear that clearly before I committed to the ticket that is down to 50 pounds plus what the guide with keys to a side museum hustled after presuming to be helpful. The heat may have affected my mood about it.

Jolie musée, mais prix un peu excessif (100egp). Pas de commodités sur place, et surtout très dommage que les lieux ne soit pas entretenu, quel dommage de voir autant de déchets sur un tel site !

100 LE to enter museum which is closed at the moment; there are ruins all around it but not worth the price. Most exciting part was the boat ride there.

Even though the museum building os closed, the access to the entire archaeological site is breathtaking. You can sit in the shadow of a restored 2000 years old column and enjoy the silence and views of the beautiful Nile and surroundings. It has MUCH less tourists than other museums and historical sites in Egypt, so you can be alone without pestering guides. And the village around the museum is super charming with friendly people. Dont miss this if youre in Aswan! To get to Elephantine Island, get a ferry from the east corniche.

Worst museum ever. They charge 100EGP to see nothing. There are security guards who try to rush you around quickly before someone else arrives in hopes that you tip them. If you don’t tip them, they’ll yell at you and come after you. Most aggressive guards I’ve seen. They should be fired.

The perfect place to fully understand the Elephantine archaeological complex, its temples and ruins. I had a guide with me so I could get a better insight of the history of the place. There are many old artifacts spread in several exhibition rooms, with details maps and information.

Originally, the museum was in the architect of William Wilcox, where the chief engineer of the Aswan Reservoir was working, so it had to be erected next to his work, and during excavation to build the High Dam, many monuments and excavations were found in addition to the relics that were discovered on the island of Elephantine, rich in archaeological excavations that were not discovered yet. The transformation of this villa into a museum includes the most important monuments of Elephantine Island and some Nubian monuments such as statues of Amenhotep the Third and some ancient Egyptian deities, the most prominent of which are sheep in the form of a ram and some mummies of rams as a symbol of Khnum, some funerary paintings, and basins of the Chest stone dating back to prehistoric times and some weapons And pottery vessels, the museum consists of a large exhibition yard and an underground storehouse to store monuments that are not displayed or need restoration and maintenance, and the exhibition yard consists of 4 halls, two halls on the right and two halls on the left. And an annex was opened to the museum in 1993, consisting of 3 exhibition halls containing 670 different artifacts, starting from the era of the Old Kingdom and passing through the Coptic era until the Roman era.SiteThe museum is located on Elephantine Island, Aswan, the southernmost part of Egypt.

Such an amazing place with all the historical area around it , fascinating panoramic view for the Nile, the city & the archeological site, but in need for much care and development, considering the main building is closed for renovations for past 6 years till the moment "January 2020" and only the small museum and the site is open for visits.

Small museum with interesting design, looks almost like an Asian building made from wood. However it is partly opened for the public as half of the museum is under restoration. Overall I would recommend it

The main building is closed, the exhibition is in a side building only. Ive been told that most artifacts have been moved to the nubian museum on the main land. However there is a small temple to see and a great view across the nile. The nilometer is small and interesting but nothing special.

The museum is closed for renovations but they dont tell you that until after you pay 70egp each to go in. The archeological ruins outside are interesting and your unsolicited guide/guides will take you around and point out things of interest. Of course you are expected to pay them. One person would have sufficed but you dont get a choice. Just beware....it is worth seeing despite the scam.

The ruines are interesting, but there is barely information provided. Also, the guy at the ticket office asked more money than he should have (prices are clearly stipulated at the entry, but he gave no clear explanation why I had to pay more). Not worth to visit.

Super tiny. Not really that interesting compared to so many other things to see in Egypt. The guy there explained to us a few things which I thought was nice but then of course asked for extra money. I’d say skip it but it included the ruins in the back so was worth it.

Theres nothing really special here and is also very small, so even if is not that much is better to keep the money for other stuff. Theres nothing that you cant see at the Nubian museum.

This Museum is worth a visit considering the entrance fee is not that high. Situated in Elephantine Island which mean you will need to take a boat in order to get there. Public ferry is the best budget option as round trip cost only EGP 5.
