Smart, bi-level venue for inventive Nordic-French cuisine, supported by an all-day cafe and deli.
My first time. A very professionally run restaurant which is friendly and has a relaxed atmosphere. The food and service are excellent. Top class.
Worst dinner me and my partner have had in a long time. Had a voucher given to us as Im assuming they were struggling for business. The manager was very unhelpful, blunt and rude and the steak was grey and precut like in this photo. Dont waste your time here
Everything was great! The service, the quality and taste of the food and the ambiance!
For a restaurant belonging to the D&D family I found the quality of the meal and service appalling. I ordered the most expensive dish on their menu and was served the most toughest fillet de Beouf that Ive ever had and will never consider going there again, even as a guest.
Busy restaurant when I went on a Saturday evening. I was lucky i had booked a table as it was fully booked when i arrived. The service is good and they have a good selection of wines.I had the pre-theatre set menu and chose the smoked salmon, seabass and creme caramel. Good quality and well presented. The seabass was very well cooked and tasty, but felt that they could have been a bit more generous with the potatoes. The creme caramel was adequate.Good place for a pre-theatre quick dinner but im not sure it would be my first choice for a la carte.
I had a wonderful meal at Aster, taking my mother for a treat as part of a birthday gift. Both the food and service were excellent, as was the wine we chose, and the cocktails served to those around us looked breathtaking! The ambiance is relaxed but upmarket. We went before the theatre (it is ideally located for Hamilton and Wickedbut went for 3 courses a la carte rather than the pre theatre set. Everything was lovely, fresh and full of flavour. Im a vegetarian and my mother went for fish, so there is something for everyone. The service was outstanding - attentive and friendly. Special thanks to our main server, Angelica, for making it a lovely evening!
Very good food. The scallops are lovely as wellas the salmon, green beans and asparagus.
The staff were friendly and attentive, always ensuring our glasses were topped up and that the table was cleared when necessary. The food was delicious and portions were just right! Lovely French food and would definitely recommend to others.
Delicious meal in a beautifully designed restaurant - really enjoyed all of the food, wine and service. Pictured is the french onion soup, the cote de boeuf, some sides/sauces and desserts. Everything was spot on!
Nice decor and friendly staff. Awfully small portion though. We had a two course brunch, but it did not fill us up at all. Limited choices too. You could do better than that.
It was unfortunately just poor service. The food was lovely; great job by the chef. The lamb and sausage were cooked just right, and lovely mash potato. The tart and Ballon Dor were a good finish as well. But simply the service was all over the place. We were sat down and left alone for over 20 minutes...we ordered olives and bread but our aperitif didnt arrive for a while after. They arrived but then the main course arrived and we had to ask for our bottle of wine to be brought to the table so our food started to get cold. I mean yes you could say we didnt want the wine and aperitif at the same time...but the aperitif was late and we were not asked. We could have had our wine brought to the table after we had finish our main course for all we know!Again well done to the chef but no support in front. Not busy so not sure why there were delays
Went here on Valentines day with my girlfriend flying in from Ireland. The food was well presented, tasty and just the right portion size. The setting was perfect with a nice bar in the middle of the restaurant. The staff were really pleasant and always on hand for drink refill! One staff member stood out above the rest. Paulo went above and beyond with his service. He made sure we were happy with our visit. Although we had some minor complaints Paulo ensured he did everything in his power to make our visit was a pleasant one through some very stressful circumstances and even suggested some lovely cocktails! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and it gets a well deserved 5* review.
Came for Saturday brunch with bubbles with friends. Service was excellent, food was lovely and the bubbles were frequently re-poured. Have been many times before and we will come again!
Nice place and subtle but pleasant decor. Scallops starter was good, Seafood linguine main was good. The gold ball (picturedalthough looked very good was not my favourite, although apparently one of their popular desserts. It is basically a golden dark chocolate ball with a thick chocolate mouse and hazelnut praline ice cream in it, although I could hardly get the hazelnut flavour coming through. The cocktails were ok as well, they couldve been stronger in my opinion.Service was good though, and I was offered a complementary dessert as wasnt happy with my original choice.
Food is nice (not amazing, but certainly not bad). Pleasent atmosphere. Service friendly but absent and slow. Couldnt get any water for 20 mins on entering, let alone a real drink - has to eventually go to the bar ourselves to find those. Food was slow to arrive but needed a snack when I got home
IGNORE THIS PLACE !I don’t know who bought the Michelin Star for this place .The staff gave for us the table near the waitress desk, where that took forks for costumers and spoke a lot with each other’s ….We ordered food , it was two big tartar, BUTCompletely DISAPPOINTING ABOUT THE QUALITY IF IT DISHES , there were huge chanks of meat with tendons …And it was cost 62£… OMGthe wine was aromatic and great tease , whereas a waiter always full the glass out of glass …We were there for our 3 year AnniversaryWe had asked about the quiet, cozy table for our occasion
Great service: host and waiters very welcoming, food arrived promptly, with mains arriving just after wed finished our starters - very handy to get to the theatre in good time. Also gave a small birthday treat on the house.Food: fairly nice, although my salmon starter and lentils within the duck main were somewhat bland. Spicy Thai cocktail size unfortunately very small, and full of ice.Ambience: nice decor. Tables of 2 were closely lined up, and to the side near the entrance, so we were sitting far away from the main area, and with low uncomfortable seats.Would recommend as its very handy for the theatre, but would think twice about revisiting otherwise.
The worst treatment ever experienced in this place in my 40 years of outdoor dining experience as a business traveller. The door lady’s english is very poor and not willing to accommodate a single business traveller. So never got to taste the food but got a very poor taste of their hospitality ; Never again !
This is a wonderful place to dine. The food is of a high quality and standard, service is nicely attentive and the decor is beautiful. Its a great place to catch up with friends or do a business lunch. Thoroughly recommend it.
I had the pre-theatre meal - it was lovely. If its only had two courses I would have been done in half an hour, but their speed didnt compromise on quality. The sea bass in particular was perfectly balanced. Lovely
The Resturant itself is nice, but atmosphere not so. Had to wait 30 minutes for 2 cocktails to arrive and then in total 50 minutes for our food to arrive. It was very difficult to attract the attention of the staff who were not even apologetic for the delays. One meal was nice and the other contained what looked like an uncooked sausage in the middle. We had ordered a two-course brunch but had to leave without having the second course as the wait was so long and we had tickets to go to the theatre. We have eaten at this multiple restaurant multiple times before and have had nice experiences but this recent one has tainted our view. Unimpressed.
I absolutely loved it. Great decor, lovely menu, prices are pretty decent for central London. Staff seem a bit cold and mechanical at times, but who goes to a restaurant purely for the staff? Great cocktail selection too! Try the lamb or sea bass, definitely a highlight. For 3 guests: 3 drinks, 3 mains and 2 desserts came to £123.
Fantastic food, extremely attentive service and a great atmosphere. Well definitely be going back some time
Great decor, lighting and seating.Quite slow service despite not looking overly busy. The food was late but we were kept up to date and many extras were provided due to this without prompting.Delicious food. Very pleasant staff.
Food and cocktails satisfactory for D&D of which I am a fan of. Only some parts of my dish were over salted E.g. the brocoli that accompanied my trout for some reason was just way too salty. Only 4 stars given as we requested to be seated at a booth or table on the side and they did not oblige even though we were the only diners in the restaurant for more than an hour and I had booked in advance more than 7 days as well as that you cant request specific seating on booking so was disappointed by the service on that front.
Moderately attentive staff. Reasonable sized portions. Nice modern atmosphere inside and out.Drinks the going rate for LondonGive it a go, see what you think.
Yesterday afternoon was either my 3rd or 4th visit to Aster and every time the experience has been wonderful. Staff are unfailingly polite, gracious, low key and attentive to detail. All requests responded to positively. My companion had a little trouble with the logging on and they did everything to assist , she was never made to feel uncomfortable. The decor is fabulously stylish while being low key and elegant. Id love to know who styled it. The flower and plant displays are so pretty. The food is perfect and delicious. My companion wanted a well done steak and it arrived tender and juicy., which is not so easy to cook.Needless to say Ill be back soon. The customer service there is top notch.
What a gorgeous aesthetic, the establishment is beautiful, modern and bright whilst simultaneously being warm and cosy. The toilets are impeccably clean as is the rest of the building. The seasonal menu changes daily depending on availability of fresh produce and the Brunch menu is fantastic value at £20/£25 for 2/3 courses. The food is excellent, you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Service was perfect, a mean feat considering there were only two wait staff on the floor and they were fully booked. Unlimited prosecco is also very good value if you want a few bubbles with your brunch.
Amazing experience from start to end! Quick service, great quality meals and brilliant value (2 course for £20 including glass of wine). Angelica was a brilliant waitress! All the staff we encountered were so professional and lovely. Will be back!
The brunch was delicious. We were able to sit comfortably for hours enjoying the food ans atmosphere . The cocktails were excellent . The service was good and efficient .
Omg what great value, this kinda food service decore and quality is highly underpriced for its location we got a 3 course meal but took only 2 as its filling especially with cocktails prior to seeing Hamilton (the playacross the road they have some kinda deal for guests of the event next door, its reall5 fashionable inside, the food is very high quality some items Ive never tried before
Came for drinks, not food. They have a wide range of wines and spirits but a comparatively limited selection of cocktails.cocktails were generally nice and well presented but they were inconsistent. For example the strawberry campaign cocktail looked amazing with a chocolate cone and strawberry caviar, the sunset cocktail however came poorly mixed and literally looked like msngo squash served long.Prices are about average for this type of place in victoria.Roundup: Great if youre a wine drinker, there are better spots for cocktails.
After a certain time upstairs is closed, which was quite disappointing as I envisioned something else. However the service here was amazing, out group moved 3 times until we had comfortable seating. The staff were helpful and extremely nice. The dishes were delicious and presented beautifully, u wish I had taken more pictures.
We went for the Soul Sundays with a 3 course lunch and Sunday roast.Lovely looking restaurant close to VIctoria Station with a Nordic/French cuisine with the added bonus of great live Soul Music (5/5on Sundays.Started with a Aster pork roll, aquavit mustard which is a tasty sausage roll cut into 4 parts and a Roast beetroot, goat’s curd, orange salad which was pleasant. For mains my partner had the Meatballs with lingonberry jam but opted for roast potatoes instead of mash. While I had the Roast sirloin of beefserved with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, chantenay carrots and gravy. My roast had to be returned as it was well done and I asked for medium rare. It was replaced and was flavourful. Finally my Carrot cake, cream cheese, orange which was a deconstructed version was on par.
Amazing all over! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and very efficient.Food was served quickly (great as Im sure a lot of customers are pre-theatre diners for the Victoria Palace next door, as we were). The meal was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant, the menu is original (both Scandinavian and French influences), the whole place was unique but without replacing quality with novelty. Will absolutely go back if Im in the area again!
Food was ok but small portions for a roast (sunday- very disappointed “banoffee” which was without the pie, I guess it was supposed to be a deconstructed pie but it didn’t really work for me - you need to work a bit more in service it wasn’t busy and we have to wave to get attention because we were done with our meals and wanted the bill the person which brought the bill (which also was wrongleft the bill on the table and didn’t take the empty place -
Gorgeous venue and extremely friendly service. The dessert was delicious, the chocolate brownie with dulce de leche is a must. Unfortunately they made a mistake with our order and instead of fish as a main we got small appetisers, they were very apologetic about it but we had to run to the theatre so we will have to go back to try the food! The rhubarb cocktail is also very tasty
Food was good, convenient location and lovely ambience.Had the Evening Standard set menu, wasnt expecting the black pudding roll to be a sausage roll with spec of black pudding. However the nordic fish pie was excellent. The service was a little peculiar, the waiter was constantly in a hurry with his customers while it could be his way of being efficient, it was a tad rude.
Came here for an anniversary meal before watching halmilton. Staff are fabulous and attentive to every detail. They have offers on a set menu which is very affordable. They have two floors. We sat upstairs. Very nice decor. The food was beautiful. Looking forward to coming back.
Aster - Lovely atmosphere! Brilliant staff... food a little...well little! Portions are small but very tasty. Highlight for me was the WINE! Red, white and Preseco was all AMAZING! Ill go back but will have a sandwich beforehand 🙂
Was not impressed! The food was bland and portion sizes wee tiny very expensive for very little food also the staff were not welcoming at all.
Located amongst the new restaurants that have sprung up in and around the Nova development in Victoria, Aster offers Scandinavian dishes in a typically sleek space that’s become a hallmark of D&D group’s recent vintages. There’s a buzzy bar downstairs, with the upper floor set aside for the more sedate diners.Food wise, we had a sea bass ceviche, cured salmon, and mussels as starters. The mussels were outstanding - as good as any we’ve tried in London. The mains were partridge cooked ever so slightly pink (so not to everyone’s tasteand a saddle of venison - both were good without being outstanding. The most interesting course was desserts - a deconstructed cheesecake that was beyond the server’s valiant attempt to describe it; and a dark chocolate tart served with lingonberry gel drawn like ... blood vessels I suppose.
Second visit here for my birthday lunch and I was disappointed. Only the summer menu was available and not the a la carte. This would have been fine but the meal fell short. The starters were very good, we had all the different versions of the egg benedict including the vegetarian. The scampi starter is very fiddly to deshell but tasty. The chicken main was cooked well but was bland, so sauce or seasoning. The vegetarian tomato spaghetti was too one dimensional, consisting of only the tart taste of tomatoes. Only the steak and fish was passably good. Cocktails were very tasty but I wish the summer menu was stronger in its execution.
Perfect for pre or post dining after watching Hamilton at the Victoria Theatre which is next door. The service was attentive, personable and timely. We mixed and matched from the Al a Cartè and set menu to be able to enjoy all the dishes we wanted. We were there for a birthday and that was catered for as well.
“Great service and lovely sharing plates”Came here on a Wednesday. Didn’t need to book. Was greeted nicely by staff who took orders quickly. I’d recommend the goats cheese sharing plate, you get plenty (or morefor 2. We asked for a side of chorizo even tho it wasn’t on the menu. It was no problem. The riesling wine was lovely - recommend that.I would come back.
Nice brunch place, cosy environment and excellent service. Food was delicious and dishes were very well presented. Booking in advance is recommended.
Pleasantly surprised with lunch here, food quality definitely matches the decor. The sharing fish platter was refreshing and filling, burgers are also better than average.
Really excellent restaurant, Deli, Cafe and Bar. A fusion of Nordic and French cooking Styles. Food is excellent and the coffee is one of the best Ive had in London. Highly recommended!
Lovely place. Very tasty menu. They now do live music on weekendsCozy and pretty environmentPerfect, for groups, couples or also for a drink at the barEasy to get a tableAlso has a nice terrace outside for sunny days
Went to the launch. Easy to get to, right opposite Victoria station. Lovely decor although we were say downstairs so didnt get a chance to experience the beautiful restaurant on the first floor. Staff were very helpful..food is French Nordic an interesting combination with so ok dishes and some excellent ones. Reasonable price
