Just off the Yellowhead Highway and a 3-minute walk from Kathlyn Lake, this alpine-themed inn with a log cabin-style exterior is 5.5 km from downtown Smithers, and 25.6 km from the Hudson Bay Mountain Ski Area.Unpretentious rooms with painted accent walls feature knotted-wood furnishings, minifridges and microwaves, as well as TVs and WiFi. Upgraded rooms add kitchenettes, while family rooms come with bunk beds.Amenities include an indoor heated pool, a whirlpool spa and a sauna. There's also a cozy restaurant with a ski lodge vibe and woodsy-chic decor, plus exposed-brick walls and a grand stone fireplace.
We asked for a room with a jacuzzi/whirlpool. Upon arrival, there is none and the desk attendant says he meant they have a public hot tub. It closes at 10 PM. We were supposed to arrive at 10-11 PM, so that is would not have been an option anyway and even with being a half hour early, we had no time to go get bathing suits or use it. Not to mention the boisterous drunks shouting from the balcony above the pool area make it seem unappealing and potentially unsafe. ALSO, THE PARKING LOT IS IN SEVERE DISREPAIR AND ALMOST DAMAGED OUR VEHICLE UPON ARRIVAL. USE CAUTION PULLING IN.
Clean and pretty quiet. Some weird construction details that you see on older properties, but nothing crazy. Slept hard, got going the next day with no issues!
The rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable with air conditioning. Its close to town, and has a really good restaurant besides it. Has the most beautiful flowers everywhere too.
Excellent place. Swim pool was nice & hot tub. Staff was very friendly & welcoming, our pet stayed with us she said she likes it haha jk but yes, was a nice stay. Quiet at night, Will be staying here again when we are on the road.EditWas a different stay, different staff. Need a credit card now, they do not except cash or debit.
We booked a while back and thought we had it set the guy who was working that day didnt even book us in now we have no hotel no where to go
Be aware of the lady working the night shift she is absolutely crazy and rude. Huffing and puffing, walking off from customers. I just can’t believe how someone is SO F@&king rude to paying customers.
Basically your typical comfortable room (2 q size beds)...but the Mrs told me that room service is once a week (could be cause were not white customers too)...racist ppl still exist & thats not gonna change anytime soon😡
Rooms were clean and well kept. Manager offered a ride to the airport she nice there is currently no taxi or shuttle service here.
Standard motel fare, maybe even a little better than standard for the rooms. Usually pretty quiet. The resteraunt is pretty good as well. Not the cheapest food in town, but its really good. One really wierd thing though, the Wi-Fi has a really strict content filter. Not for just the expected stuff either, but for some websites that are fairly standard in my opinion. Tried to click a link that featured a dashcam video of a car accident and it said it was blocked for content! Many other sites were blocked as well. If youre planning on visiting any other site than Disney.com, maybe stay somehwere eles. Who cares what Im doing on the net, so long as its legal? I guess The Aspen does. Would have been 4 stars otherwise.Update: Internet filter gone. Great place to stay.
Bed frame collapsed on floor, had to unplug extremely loud refrigerator, wifi doesnt work.
Relaxing, private pool/sauna.Eat Inn or go out.Tough choices.. enjoy
Very old place , not very clean, small tvs
We absolutely loved this place ! Was our first time but going back ! Very clean place and friendly staff! Wheelchair access! Restaurant is the best place to go to in town ! Guys go on a date there , with your sweetheart!
Family room is great, loved the service, beds are comfortableAll of my children were happy with stay
Clean rooms, good safety protocols for virus transmission. Great staff
Excellent serviceKayl at the front desk is the hospitality QUEENEverything clean and orderly2 Thumbs Up 👍👍
It was a bit expensive for the room $143 taxes included but the worst thing was it was near empty and they put me under someone who walked around till 10:15 pm and when I called the front desk all she said was it’s a CN working he is leaving soon
The room was clean but the furniture was shaby and had cigarette burns on the table . The bathroom tub was gray with stains and took a long time to drain when haveing a shower . The toilet dripped all night so my husband fixed it so we could sleep . The phone didnt work and flashed continuously. We were close enough to the restaurant as we requested so we didnt have far to walk . The food was good . Sorry no photos.
We fully enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, cute and comfortable . We were looking for a kitchenette, this kitchenette had everything In it to make a light meal. There was a table to sit at and everything we needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. We would recommend and sure to come back again to beautiful Smithers! Price point good.
Called Monday night to book a room for the next morning for my brother who was working night shift. I advised the room would be needed by 8am the morning of the 10th. Dale the guy I was speaking with on the phone said that wouldn’t be a problem took all the information he needed and said the room would be ready when my brother got there in the morning. My brother got off earlier than expected around 5am and thought he would go see if his room was ready. When he arrived the lady at the front desk told him that Is not how things work and he can wait until 11am to get a room.Very disappointed in this service would not recommend. Just bad business practice.
Everything about this place is good, has everything you need in a hotel and good staff. Id give this a way better review if the bed was comfy, it is uncomfortably soft. I am writing this because ive slept on these beds many times, my boyfriend works for cn so weve never paid for a room here but i wouldnt come here if it wasnt free because ive never gotten a good sleep here.. i dont really think he has either. We have slept on the floor many times to save our backs. Its 2am, and i cant sleep because of the bed. I really hope that this review is seen so the beds can be improved.
Decent place, really liked the restaurant, they had great food and service.
Great staff, very accommodating. Pet rooms available, a restaurant on site, outside doors for rooms, a pool, beautiful town. Gooe place to stop.
Loved this place! Rooms were clean, pet friendly, beds and pillows were very comfortable and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Having a restaurant and lounge right across the parking lot was very convenient and the food, people and atmosphere was pleasing as well. Definitely one of the best motels in the area.
Nice clean rooms and comfy beds. Nice place to stay. Beautiful scenery
Nice, clean rooms. Beds are comfortable. Staff is very helpful.
Ok, so besides the point that this place is picturesque, relaxing, and totally awesome...can we please talk about the paper straws?😱 did I just say that? Yes I did! This paper straw confused me at first, I thought something was stuck inside, I kept looking into the glass wondering what was white..but no...its the paper straw...and they are amazing! Way to go Aspen lodge 5 stars from this gal!! Ps...the wonderful lady gave me a couple of them to take home...above and beyond? ..I think yes! I will cherish my memories in smithers this weekend.
The Inn is adequate. We stay there all the time. But the restaurant always serve great tasting food and the ladies bathroom could win prizes it is so clean and artistically well done! That alone is a 10 stars.
horrible hotel. staff were not good, i was double charged after check out. if you have stayed here check your credit card statement in case they did this to you as well. staff were also up all night partying with guests outside my room witch i saw. when asked they awkwardly lied to my face.DO NOT STAY HERE. many better places in smithers.
Wonderful place to stay in Smithers. Love the decor. Very friendly staff.
We had a very comfortable stay with zero issues with excellent staff, very friendly.. and the restaurant had an awesome breakfast
We stayed a night enroute to skeena cat skiing. Nothing fancy, room was a bit weathered but fine. Water pressure was great and the heater in the room worked well. Staff was very nice. The river house next door was easy and good
Great stay and really pretty town with lovely mountains. Price was fair and the restaurant was very nice and food was great!
I made reservations and wasnt told the pool wasnt open. When we arrived he said the smithers pool was open and they would reimburse the cost. That pool was closed as well. We went to the restuarant at 8:35pm and after the server seating me, I waited for 15 minutes and someone came at 8:50 with menus and said the restaurant had just closed. Why give us menus? I was checked out in the morning and the person didnt even look at me. She passed me my receipt and didnt say anything, I waited and said goodbye. I will never stay here again.
Went to restaurant today july 12 2018..stood at sign waiting to be seated 4. Employees walked right by me...never did get seated..never go back again..dont even deserve the 1 star Iam forced to give..
It was ok stay. had really good WiFi no password. Shower 2 beds.
The food was amazing and the staff was awesome. We ate in a private room called the log house.
We are a family of four and we were moving from the Yukon down to BC. When we first checked in, the room seemed OK - clean, loads of mosquitoes but its that time of year. Then we noticed an ant. Then two. Then a few more. We took care of them, thinking they got in during cleaning, then went across the street to the local pool since the hotel pool was closed and my 3 year old was looking forward to a pool. There were more ants when we got back. Took care of them. Went out to get food and mentioned the ants to the front desk clerk. She apologized and suggested we contact the manager of the hotel. Said they will do something about the room tomorrow. Got back, noticed ants on the wall. Emailed the manager and went back to the desk to ask to change rooms as this was just too much with a 3 and a 1 year old to sleep in an ant infested room. By this time its 7 oclock at night and the kids need to sleep. The desk clerk did finally change our room, but at this point changing rooms is more than inconvenient with two small children and no elevator. Then got an email from the manager saying you can change rooms. No apology, no recognition of the inconvenience of having to change rooms because of a growing ant infestation. Stay elsewhere in town - the lodge at the other side of town is much nicer and much more customer focused.
The Inn had a rustic feeling with wooden accents. Amenities were a bit older than you would expect, but nonetheless enjoyable. The pool and sauna had privacy and the restaurant was great.
Great service, rooms need upgrade but very comfortable and clean
Friendly helpful staff. Room clean, quilt lumpy, poor quality, only 2 pillows. Whirlpool didnt work. Overall good value for money.
Had a really good deal for snowboarding and a room. Bathtub was partially plugged though, making it so I had to stand in a bunch of dirty water while showering.
I stayed at Aspen while on a snowboarding trip. The room was clean, and beds reasonably comfortable. Beds were done up daily and all consumables replaced. The closest restaurant, Riverhouse, is quite good as well.
This experience was the worst one Ive Ever had at the Aspen. Put it this way there was four of us and three of my party ate at all different times and one person was completely forgotten! No Stars!!!
Simple, Cozy, mountain lodge hotel with pet friendly rooms available, and national car rental place right next door! Staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a pet friendly room, with our dogs, and it was super clean compared to other pet friendly places weve stayed. Breakfast vouchers, and indoor pool and hot tub. Wifi worked fine for all our devices. There was a town-wide tap water advisory so they gave free bottles of water to accommodate. Lots of parking and a little spot even for truck and small trailers.Would definitely stay here again!
Nice room, fair rate, indoor pool on grounds, microwave and fridge in room with coffee maker, nice restaurant... great place to stay, will plan it into my next trip!
Clean, Comfortable, quiet. Great views. Good restaurant on-site. WiFi does not work good.
Clean and quiet! Good food at the restaurant. Within walking distance of the main drag as well.
Its a hotel alright. Well, technically its a motel with a nice hotel facade upfront. The rooms are unspectacular, bathroom isnt as clean or modern as Id expect, beds are serviceable and you get an old fashioned key to unlock the room not a key card. Probably worth the price of admission but just barely.
Plain rooms and terrible internet speeds. Although they dont have a continental breakfast, they do provide $10 breakfast vouchers for the restaurant. I paid $6 for a pretty good made-to-order breakfastbreakfast. Id give this a much higher rating if it didnt take 10 minutes to load Gmail.
