Asian Spice Ltd - Indian restaurant in Reading, United Kingdom
Lovely food the lamb pathia was delicious, chicken jalfrezi was tasty and super hot. All in all great experience
I had a takeaway prawn masala with some Bombay potatoes and a garlic naan bread. They added a poppadom. The price was reasonable. The food was a bit bland, lacking the heat and balance of spices that I expect. The restaurant looks clean and well decorated. The staff were pleasant and I would eat here again because it is local.
charge us £1 for doggy bag what
Group of 4 of us ate on a Tuesday evening. The food is okay, but quite bland. Portion size is okay, but not on the generous side. The price is okay, but not cheap.
Excellent food, the best sunday buffet in the area. Really nice staff and a great menu to eat in or take away. Just started taking the kids to the buffet and theres plenty choice for them to enjoy. Our most recent visit they had vegetable biryani which was amazing🙂
Second time here 1st time was better than the 2nd visit.Came with friends for the £14.95 buffetThis time food didnt seem as good as the first.Staff seem rude
Good food and good service. Their Wednesday deal of 5 dishes for £15 is superb value too
There is absolutely no spice in this restaurant. All made as per English taste with cream and they all taste similar.
Excellent food and very peaceful atmosphere 👌
Awful presentation, too oily and greasy, bad flavour and obviously cheap/poor quality ingredients .Even the poppadoms/bajis were bad.I wouldnt bother .
Great food. Thoroughly recommend the Sunday buffet.
I really like the food here and they do good deals on certain nights.I also frequent some of their competitors but the food at Asian Spice was spot on when I visited on Wednesday.
Sharing my nightmarish experience at this restaurant which I visited last night with my family and friends after making a table reservation earlier in the day.My son was served a mango juice in a glass bottle which had a crack and upon bringing this to the notice of the restaurant management they reluctantly exchanged it.Upon placing an order for the main course we were appalled when the owner of the restaurant told us each person had to order a set meal worth 13 pound each and this included my our kids who were under 8 years old.He moaned about how he had to cover restaurant costs such as rent, pay salaries etc,, Never before did we encounter such an ordeal which left a sour taste in our mouth. The portions of food served at the restaurant were tiny and the food tasted bland.Would give them 0 stars if I could.Needless to say never visiting this place again and would never recommend it to my acquaintances.
Great service, value and food. Best Indian buffet Ive had and the staff are amazing. Highly recommended.
Very good quality food, nice staffStrongly recommend if you are looking for Indian restaurant in Reading
It’s ok, but curries are too sweet for my taste and the meat wasn’t tender last time we ordered. Seems a bit more like a curry house for English people (sweet and not hot), which if you like that, it’ll be great, just not for me.
I have been eating at your restaurant since they was a small takeaway only and today I was very upset. We ordered the food and drinks, my wife’s fruit juice had large lumps of Mold in the glass which she noticed after taking a drink from it. When I brought this to the young waiters attention all I got was a “oh I will get you another” we said no just a bottled water thinking that was a safe option till again my wife took a drink and on the bottle lid it said 21/2/21water was out of date by 6 months !!!Again No sorry and the young guy took 1.80 off the bill …So so disappointed with how that was handled and hidden away from the boss … as the bottle was left on the table but the bottle top was taken and put in the bin very quicklyThis really ruined the whole meal for us as we was then doubting the food and the prawns not being cooked in the prawn cocktail (which looked raw to me), was the chicken cooked ?Also the website stated all staff wear face masks … not the case and staff where shaking customers hands and no sign of hand washing or sanitizer used !!!I am sorry to bring this up as like I said we have been a long time customer but sadly after that we will have to look for somewhere new.
AVOID!! All they are interested in is dealing with takeaway orders. We waited over an hour for our meal which was mediocre at the very best. Some of the staff were very unfriendly and there was absolutely no customer service as they never asked if we wanted more drinks etc. There are better places to have an Indian meal in Reafing@@
We have eaten here before and the food and service was always excellent. Not this time however. It took nearly an hour for our meal to arrive once it was ordered which was very poor. The food was ok once we got it. It appeared to me that the take away customers orders were receiving much more attention than our order, and the focus seemed to be on not keeping any take away customers waiting at the front of the restaurant if they could help it.Sorry that this is not a glowing report....
Always get our home deliveries from them Excellent food and a prompt service.
Ive purchased from Asian Spice for ages.Food has always been good with good level of service with value for money. Will continue to buy from them.Id recommend.
Incredibly sweet curries which all taste the same with varying amounts of heat or sourness. the lamb pathiya tasted like coconut jam with chilli powder. Meat as tough as old boots. Onion and brinjal bhajis were so bland all I could taste was grease. Not nice.
This was my first visit. A great vegetarian selection and what I liked most is that they actually put lots of nice vegetables in the dish. The restaurant is very clean and so are the rest rooms. This is my new go to take away!
Nice food but a bit of a slow service other than that excellent restaurant
A pleasant, clean and tidy restaurant with friendly staff. They offer a very wide range of different dishes that all look delicious.
We ordered takeaway, set menu for 2. Lots of food, good value and tasted great. Will definitely try eating in the restaurant next time.
Very poor, service was not good and we ordered 3 cokes which were flat then returned them and when returned they were flat as well so settled for tap water . Chicken wings were dry. And not a great selection on offer overall very disappointed even poppadoms we asked for 4 but got 8 and they were overcharged
Staff are really friendly and food is good really good. Sunday buffet is nice also every Wednesday there is a meal deal highly recommend this place!
One of my favourite restaurants & take away.Always good quality food & the buffet on a Sunday is brilliant. They change the variety of dishes often which is really good aswell. Yesterdays buffet we had: Chicken Korma, Chicken Pasanda, Chicken Saag, Chicken Jalfrezi, Lamb Madras, Lamb Bhuna, Veg Curry, Bombay potatoes and a whole row of light bites e.g. onion bhajis, tandoori chicken, spring rolls etc.
Had a wonderful meal with good service. Good value for money.
Plus points- Nice restaurant, spacious and air conditioned. Food is of good quality. Minus points - portions can be small
I walked in there on a very busy Saturday evening without a reserved seat and the staff were very obliging. Food was a very good quality! The server served my meal and noticed a spillage on my main and immediately apologised and said I will get you another tablecloth! I told him not to bother because I was about to get it messy again. All in great food and attentiveness to the customer!
Good food spoiled by greed, in charging 80 pence per popadum + 80 pence per person for the sauces to go with them. We were a family of 10, four of whom are children, so £16 just for that. You dont look at the menu when you order popadums.
Nice restaurant and friendly staff.Usually very tasty food but the last couple of delivery orders have been very disappointing: long delivery time (+30 min delay on top), the curries were tepid and the bhaji and naan were terrible.I wont be ordering for a Saturday evening delivery anymore as seems to me quality dips at peak periods.
Good food and good value. We regularly eat here.
Generally a good place, the service and food are nice but not great. We were sat a bit close to the takeaway pickups so not the best. We will go again for sure but some room for improvement.
Good for takeaway, but not for dining in.We have been here today, on Sunday, and as a family of three we have been charged 9.60 for 3 pappadams. This is absolutely unacceptable. When asked to explain, they started telling stories that only they understand. Service was horrible. Constantly eyeing on our our plates, checking how much food we eat and if we have finished. They have started to remove table cloth when we were still sitting at the table. Took the beer of even though there was still plenty left in a bottle. NOT COMING BACK. Food is good, but not worth a visit. Get take away instead. Horrible Sunday lunch experience.
Great place to go withA big group- it can be busy though. Each dish has an explosion of flavour and the dishes all tasted great. There is an extensive menu. The staff are very polite and friendly. This wouldnt be a place to go on a romantic date since it is quite loud but is great to go to with friends and family.
and free serve TiaMaria on end of mealVery nice restaurant
We have visited Asian Spice on many occasions. Food is always great, prices are competitive and the portions are even better. Nice and friendly staff.
Great value Sunday buffet, good food also. Had no problems accommodating our party of 20+ guests
Staff here are really friendly and the space of the restaurant has doubled inside since they acquired the space next door. The sunday buffet is great but lacks a little in choice. Usually fantastic service but Ive found that when i order on a saturday theyre so overwhelmed that my takeaway order is sometimes incorrect and not the best quality.
Very tasty Indian food. Would recommend going for the menu rather than the buffet personally as they kept running out of items on the buffet and took a while to get new out.
Well priced. Good food. Varied menu with a few items I hadnt tried before. Would recommend
A really excellent local Indian takeaway and one of my favourites. I regularly have sit-downs and takeaways from here and have never had any hesitation in bringing friends or dates here. The food is always good - not "flashy" but youll find everything youd expect to find in a British Indian restaurant and its always cooked well and its very tasty. The service is always pretty good too - not fawning but friendly and professional. They have an eat all you like Buffet Night on Sundays and a Happy Night on Wednesdays where you can have a set-price 5-course meal.
Great early evening meal. Mohammed and his team give you great food and great service. We are regulars here definitely the best curry in Reading.
Service was good but fed us through the system very quickly. Iike a little break between courses which wasnt there. Food was really good though.
I just order take away and really disappointed, whole piece of lamb was choped and added in tomato sauce-i had lamb balty....lamb samosa from market, just deep frying, onion bhaji was soggy....really bad.So we pay £30+tips just to have that, guys we went to your restaurant ones(was very happy-food was fantastic)never again,im chef and i wouldnt cheeting my customer like you does ...good Luke for that!
Great Food. Great Service. Never had a bad Meal here.highly recommended
Old school good - St Mary the Virgin (PurleyMens Curry Club - Asian Spice REPORT....I am delighted to confirm that reports of its demise are truly overstated, Asian Spice on Overdown Road, is very alive and very kicking.OK so my loyalty card was never redeemed but the place did actually have a genuine refurb (unlike my beloved Tamarind Tree which is now a very posh block of flats in Lower Basildon). I also have a personal in into deep dark places and I can confirm that this establishment is reviewed as good-excellent by WBDC food hygiene. In summary - GREAT curry, GREAT venue (I could walkand really GREAT service -It got a big thumbs up from me. Just to mix up the evening a bit and keep everyone guessing we had a short quiz too, needless to say I won that (note to Agitated from Purley - this forum does not support a right of reply!)So the next venue is to be decided as is the date and time but I welcome suggestions (see next para)Curry being the ambrosia of Tilehurst we will group as happy fellows and banded brothers for another evening of high taste at a venue to be decided some time soon - probably after Lent (whod of thunk it!). Please put in your requests now and let me know what tickles your fancy. All suggestions are entertained and valued before they are ignored! If you intend to come along, would like a lift, or can offer a lift - let me know.
