Artisan Bistro - Bistro in Victoria, Canada
Beware the up charges, $2 for some mayo? My gluten free friend asked for extra hash browns instead of toast and was told there would be a charge. The food is good but this sort of stuff is ridiculous.
10/10, such a cute little restaurant and the food was just amazing 😍😍😍
loved this bistro! Good food, a patio but can be busy. My first visit indicated reservation for lunch!! First visit...like everywhere need servers to keep but but it is very popular..probably because the presentation and flavor is beyond just good. Location just off PT Bay Highway at Broadmead Plaza...so no real problem with parking.
Ive been here a few times and keep wanting to give a better review but there is one" server" in particular thats quite rude. She said we couldnt have a table past one when the place was empty and never got full even when we were there for over an hour and a half.Just not professional looking for this so called higher end establishment and just not nice. the food is ok but doesnt match the prices
Absolutely love coming here. The breakfasts are so yummy (my fave thing is the breakfast sammy that isnt even on the menu - its a secret hush hush!and the patio is fab to sit and have an americano in the morning, or a glass of wine in the afternoon/evening!
Stopped in with my daughter and grand babe for a quick bite. We ordered the a Benny to share. The food came quickly but was somewhat underwhelming. The home fries were delicious though. The location is in Broadmead Village where we frequent. I thought it was a bit pricey for the quality.
Great food. Different from what one is used to and fabulous. Staff is very friendly. Just a great place.
Seems that many local restaurants are closed on Mondays, and not really wanting a Romeos pizza, we opted to try Artisan Bistro. Athena (on their staffsaw us approach to look at the menu, and rushed out to hand one to us. A quick perusal...and the Vegetable Gnocchi caught our eyes; seemed like reasonable prices so we opted to try it out. Athena was our waiter, and provided exemplary, friendly service. My partner opted for the veggie gnocchi, while I chose the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. (Was disappointed on our recent visit to the Brentwood Lodge pub, who had a great similar item, but they discontinued it.)Well... both were delish! The sandwich was far better than the lodges version, and the gnocchi was wonderful. We will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items!
Pleasant bistro. Food was good. Had the falafel which could have had a bit more flavor...but nice atmosphere and good service.
We have been coming for 3 months.trying to come once a week.our experience is on only 2-3 items.we always get crepe and fish and chips.mushroom crepe and seafood crepe are die for.and server name kili( I m sorry I don’t know if I get her name correctly)she is always awesome and very attentive but not bothering level.so if u ever visit u must get crepe and fish and chips.
I had Arugula PestoCream Sauce, Onion, Mushrooms, Asparagus Heirloom Tomatoes, Pecorino AMAZING!! thankfully came with garlic bread so I did not have to lick the plate; service was very good too
I came alone to eat it was complete so I asked for a take-out. I cant believe the attitude of the waitresses like I couldnt afford it 😂. I almost said that she might be the one that couldnt afford it.... I waited outside with a coffee for a while after 20min no body was coming so I went inside and my food was waiting on the counter. The food was cold the chicken uncooked. I threw everything out and went for another restaurant.Quite a shame if you see their website advertising that once you found them you would always go back.....
I had the pork belly and beet salad which was very good, one of the best salads Ive had. It was on the more expensive side though and the restaurant was of decent quality.
$11 mimosa for a glass the size of my thumb. My habanero chicken burger was great, but my friends portions were quite small.
Food was ok, service was fantastic, not completely sure if I will go back as there are a lot of food places to eat at.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. There was no lineup which was great. The servers were attentive and friendly. All of the food we got was very good and it didnt take long to arrive. There are both booths and tables and there is a patio as well. There is both a breakfast and lunch menu.
This was my second time here and I was 110% satisfied. We had a lovely dinner for my mom’s birthday. I think the server was new and still did a fantastic job. We had great cocktails and nice wine and THE FOOD IS SO GOOD. Everything was so delicious - all 5 of us were raving about it. The vegetable gnocchi was so flavourful and fresh! We liked it so much it made us want to try the desserts - which were also amazing. 10/10 would recommend.
First time here, greeted and sat promptly. tuna poke and popcorn chicken appys good! Arugula pesto pasta good but expensive. Habanero chicken burger had no spice at all! Tasted good but wanted it spicy! Julie our server was Fantastic! She took care of all of our needs and was super friendly!
My husband and I had breakfast there this morning. Omg the friendliest, perky waitresses. I loved ours..didnt get her name. Well done..keep it up.Madeleine
Lovely dinner outForgot to take pics☹. Dinner was fantastic! Started with the Bistro Salad. Great balance of flavors. For mains....I had the beef ragu pasta. My favorite here! Rich flavors. Husband has the Seafood Carbonara. Clams, bacon, prawns..delish! Finished off with the Cheesecake crepe. Yummo! Raspberry coulis, Graham crumble, and a housemade crepe filled with sweet cream cheese....heavenly! Enjoyed a fantastic Shiraz from Spain. Nice atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. A gem in Broadmead....Show less
Went for early dinner. Would give 4 stars based only on what I ordered, but I chose the least interesting dishes on the menu and they were both fresh and flavourful. The service was great. You have the option of complimentary still or sparkling water. I wasn’t hungry and ordered the poke and spiced prawn salad with an americano. I recommend the coffee as well as the two dishes, but the other plates looked incredible. The wine options looked good and next time, I will 100% try the fresh pasta.
We were here a couple weeks ago for a lunch. We had amazing service! I’ve unfortunately forgotten her name, but our server did a great job. Everyone loved their food. It was so delicious Definitely recommend trying their pasta "seafood carbonara". Super yummy🙂
Foods: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️For a dinner lover like me, this is actually like a paradise. 😂 I really loved everything in the dinner menu.Price: 💸I can say that the price is worth it in every bit of the foods that I have eaten. 😍😍😍Thank you Artisan Bistro for the best service and foods that you have👍👍
My best friend and I visited this spot on Sunday, food was amazing, the crêpes along with the vegetarian bennies were incredible good. French style cuisine, homemade hollandaise sauce, great portions, just right. Is a little out of the way from Victoria, but totally worth it. Forgot to take some photos, but I’ll take it next week. .
Was there today for the first time! Was blown away by the food and the service! I love going for lunch, but this was quite possibly the best lunch I have ever had! I had the spicy warm prawn salad which was fabulous! And the Seafood pasta in a chardonnay cream sauce which was also to lick the spoon to get every last drop of sauce great! Our server was over the top friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu! Highly recommend trying this place, Ill definitely be back! Trying dinner next time😁🥂
Five spice prawn salad was good. Some of the tables in there are not the nicest to sit at. Try to call ahead and reserve a booth or something away from the door. We were seated right by the front door and with the door opening all the time it was really cold.
Good flavour and unique dishes. On the duck confit hash, the flavour was good, and decent portion size. Could have done with more duck, but the helping of wild mushrooms was generous! The greens were quite bitter for how many there were; might have been a bad batch. As for the crêpes Suzette, flavour was good; could maybe have had a little more caramelization on the sauce and the portion was a bit small - another crêpe would have sopped the remaining sauce nicely. Overall, I would visit again!
A pleasant surprise! The cuisine was perfectly prepared and menu outstanding, service was friendly and timely; reminiscent of true French bistro. We went for breakfast, and Im looking forward to going again for dinner!
went to artisan bistro this morning and had such a lovely time! our server with curly burgundy hair was so wonderful and knowledgeable, she really made us feel appreciated. the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was comfortable like eating at home. we will be back!!
We stopped in for lunch on our way to the ferries. We knew nothing about the place, tried it on a whim and were very impressed! I had the pork belly eggs Benedict and my husband had the pork belly beet salad, both dishes exceeded our expectations by far! Service was friendly and welcoming as well. We are from Vancouver which feels like the city of mediocre food and this was anything but that.
Very good meal. Service was friendly and professional. Pork belly hash was delicious and well presented. Meal was promptly served and paired well with a light lager.
The lunch was great! Huevos Benny, just perfect!Mostly I want to compliment the waitress, Athina I believe, whose manner was friendly, personable and efficient. I did not have a chance to say so to her directly, but want her to know what a positive impact she had on the dining experience.
Excellent food, attentive friendly service, and one of the few bistros that is a true hidden Gem..I had the beer battered Halibut and Kennebec potato fries..and a glass of the House white which was crisp, flavorful fresh nose with hint of wild berries which paired very nicely with the Halibut. At first after the meal I unwittingly declined the menu.. however that soon changed and I ordered a Bistro bar and and and espresso with Chantilly creme.. the bistro bar was a rich chocolate and caramel with chocolate ganache on a crunchy sweet base ( Im not sure of the composition or ingredients it was one of the best desserts I have tasted and I have eaten many restaurant specialty desserts.. and it was a simple yet effective presentation..The only reason for the 4 star rating and not a five star rating was the espresso presentation the Chantilly cream was spooned on in a sort of haphazard way.. I suggested thy have a small piping bag that could add a more attractive presentation and application of the cream...the other part of my minor criticism must include the gravy I was presented with for my fries...I would have been ecstatic if I received some simple demi Glace.. however the sauce I received, while it was tasty.. seemed to be more like an Asian black bean or oyster sauce and demi Glace.. those are my only criticisms.. as the experience was excellent and would recommend the bistro for couples family and for dining alone
Ive gone to alot of places and order gnocchi, but the vegetable gnocchi with yam puree was probably the best Ive ever had. Server was so friendly, personable and we felt way more comfortable with her as she was the only one wearing a mask and this was our first dining out experience since covid. The artisan bistro brings fine dining in a modern way. Thank you for one of the best meals we have ever had. ❤
Great Food and good atmosphere. Best Breakfast place in Victoria! I love the seafood crepes for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, their fried chicken is a must try.Sterling service and servers are so friendly.
We eat often at Artisan Bistro and find the food very good. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We are most impressed with Kyla and Athena for our morning coffees. Keep up the good work now that we can dine in again. CheersDavid
Nice place for breakfast, service is good! Menu can be more creative!
Absolutely fabulous meals and service. This is a chef that knows how to prepare elegant food. The butternut squash soup was amazing. Everything was sparkling clean. Candlelight and music. The only thing I would change is the ambiance. I hope you take this the right way as your efforts are so appreciated. It’s just that when we go out in the evening we like dark lighting so we can enjoy the candles. A simple dimmer switch to remove the blaring bright lights would have made this perfect. Still you get 5 stars for such a great meal and service. We will be back
We had a great brunch here! I hadnt had eggs benny in ages and the hollandaise sauce was superb.
So a single star is a pretty bad rating but well deserved...here is why. The food was at best mediocre. My beef shortribs were horribly over salted and very fatty. My friends seafood crepe was not acceptable. It was full of bones from the salmon, there was very little seafood, the crepe was more like a pancake (thick and doughy). The waitress said she would tell the chef. We got $3.00 discount on a $20.00 dish. To add insult to this, when my friend very politely suggested that the discount wasnt very much, the waitress rudely said "what would you think you should have gotten?" My friend who had really not eaten anything answered "maybe 50%" which was answered with a shoulder shrug - rude!!Not going back...oh and also the service was not good, had to ask for milk for my tea, didnt get a spoon and more. Just dont waste your time and money.
I think they are always busy and that is because they have delicious food. What else do you expect. Always make a reservation before you plan to come, it is necessary.
Love this little spot. Perfect for brunch. Gets busy. Great ambience. Perfect omelet. The honey glazed ham in the omelet. Mmm. Sparkling water was a nice touch.
Pleasantly surprised that I stumbled on this place. Walking in didnt feel super friendly but the food sold me. Delicious breakfast although i did not like the ketchup (slightly too bitter for me). Potatoes were great. Knowing French cuisine, the food here showed the French influence perfectly. The only downside was the service was slightly slow with only 4 active tables. I would go back though, the food was great.
Serving staff are very friendly. Salads.are very pleasing to the eye and palate. The presentation of the entrees is very pleasing. Duck was excellent. Seafood carbonara was safety but slightly salty. Not enough room for dessert. Special 3 course offering looked very inviting. Wine list is limited but good choices. They offer pairing suggestions with every course. A definite return for another dinner.
I absolutely love going to Artisan Bistro!! Not only does it have amazing food, great atmosphere, and knowledgable front of house staff BUT it also supports Canadian Veterans by holding "The Wellness Soldier - Veterans Dinner" there for the second year this year and hopefully many more.
Beautiful, delicious and fast food. Friendly service and oh so tasty. We will return for sure. Plus: changing table in the restroom! No kids me u but kid friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Really amazing experience. The food is really good and the service is great. They are offering a different kind of food that you generally find in Victoria. If you are around stop by, if you are not around drive to!
I loved everything about this place. Food was authentic. I recommended latte coffee. It was smooth and blend. Fish and chips were exceptional.Everything they offered was hand made. I was surprised that they do a handmade tomato sauce too. This is a premium restaurant with excellent good recipes.Quantity and quality were flawless.
The food here is amazing! Went for an early Valentines lunch with my love. I’m giving only 4 stars because the staff was slow. We had to put our coats on and wait by the door so we could get our bill. I had the falafel w/ truffle frites. I did’t eat the pita because it was too much food for me but the falafel was delicious. My hubby had the habanero chicken burger w/frites and very very good! We also indulged in the Bistro Bar... a chocoholic’s fantasy. Food is fresh and delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
A great French inspired bistro in a mall. There was live music and outdoor seating when I was there. The bistro has large ceiling to floor windows which open to the outside too. I have a great bouillabaisse and a pork belly and beet salad. The falafel and burger was good too.
