Arthur Street Kitchen (ASK) - Restaurant in Ayr, United Kingdom
Food and service first class. Price and choice of draught ales shocking. £15 for three course meal, very good value.
Sorry buffet food was cold on arrival and told no more would be put out.
Had nice lentil soup, Tuna sandwiche, brie cheese & cranberry toastie, Nice atmosphere , welcoming staff, THANKS MICE , always will come back Inshallah BIG THANKS TO ADAM, LOVE the goats cheese and caramelised onion sandwich
Meal could not be faulted. Service above what i would expect. Even the cost of the whole night could not be faulted. We had a birthday in our group and there was no issue about a cake. I think.the staff ate most of it as we were too full . We were more than delighted with our night. By the way some of us are in the catering industry. Well done ASK
Excellent food and great service.
Really good outside beer garden thats not exposed to passers-by.
qill defiantly visit again ,food brilliant
This restaurant was a great place to stop by during my journey down from uni. The staff was friendly and the service was at a reasonable speed. I was surprised why there werent a lot more people coming in on the day I was there!
Fantastic service, delicious meals, good size portions.. Great value. Would definitely go again..
Food was so bland and 7.50 for a glass of SV come on we all know what it cost !!!Would rather go to nice hotel for 4 star same price !!
Was in today for a late lunch with my wife and was served by Zoe, an extremely charming and friendly waitress. The food was excellent and fairly priced in fact the portions were huge and neither of us could finish our meals. I would certainly recommend this establishment to anyone.
Family dinner to celebrate a birthday.. Service was above and beyond.. More so on a bust Saturday night. Great menu, selection of wines and cocktails. Good prices.. Food was delicious all clean plates.. Served with a smile.. Could not do any better. Thank you
Great food loads of glue free options bigger choice of draught beers would be good
We eat at Arthur Street Kitchen regularly and decided to bring our family who were visiting for the Easter weekend. All of our meals were delicious. Staff (as alwayswere very friendly and attentive. We cannot recommend this local restaurant enough and we will be back again soon! 5☆ all the way! Thanks to all at ASK for yet another great dining experience 👍
Food was excellent big portions aswel
Called in for an early lunch. Food was VERY tasty. Prices were very reasonable but what stopped me giving it 5 stars was the portions were a bit small, and the (bigwindows were dirty. Five minutes with a sponge and squeegie and slightly bigger portions would have made this excellent for me.
Fab and spacious. Gorgeous food and great deals on alcohol. Was a leaving meal and was best place to book for party of 8. Will definitely return. 💯
Lovely place. Decent food. Nice family atmosphere. Prices a bit steep though for what you get on the plate
Visited here in 9th January to celebrate a birthday and it was very quiet due to time of year. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I had the 8oz sirloin steak and it was cooked exactly as I requested, medium rare. Very delicious.
Friendly staff, food excellent, good value for money. Thanks.
Had a fabulous day today - first class service from all the staff but an extra special thank you to Zoe who went the extra mile - I asked for an affogato for desert and although it wasn’t on the menu she delivered. Wonderful - a huge thank you to all xxx
Iv been Friday and Saturday with friends and family yo celebrate my very emotional 60th birthday. I cant thank the staff enough for making these 2 days special for me. Would highly recommend this place, food was amazing great portion sizes 💕💕 xx
No healthy choices on menu, had curried vegetable soup which was OK but seemed to cool very quickly , wife had burger and chips no sauces or salad was offered, certainly not worth £10 charge for it
Good selection of drinks and cocktails. Menu looks appetising but havent ate in here for a while.
Great place to eat, food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Will be back.
Toilets not very clean.Got a cheese burger with smokey cheese not that good cost£10and a sugar free Iron bru£2.95
Nice food , warm ,tasty, lost marks on £3 for bottle of diet coke over the top. Pity that £9 for 3 drinks none alcoholic
Had a great meal here in a comfortable environment. Staff were well trained and more than helpful. Prices are a little bit high but the quality of service and food balance this.
Really nice place. Staff were excellent. For most part food was good. I had scallops, which were really disappointing and why I knocked a star off tbh. They were very small especially given its one if the dearer starters at 10pounds. The chicken tempura was good and chips were good. Sticky toffee pudding was OK. It was a huge bit but it was a little dry. I also tried the mac and cheese, it was excellent, I will def get it next time i visit. The toffee Eton mess was wonderful as I also tried that, again this will be something I get next time too. Drinks were all good and as I said staff were great. Thanks
We visited for friends 40th birthday treat and starters came fine but all the other parties mains arrived and literally 10 mins mine hadnt arrived so managed grab a member of staff and she went to check to find the staff had forgotten about it and had to wait til they made it another 15/20 mins it arrived and everyone else had finished and the others where keen to leave as we were frozen due being seated near front door . I ate less than half of the tasteless macaroni the garlic bread was soggy as wasnt toasted long as obvs in hurry to get it out and didnt touch the chips. One apology the whole time for this so ended up starving . I understand under pressure but was the wait told the lady cancel it but she came with it any way and I was still charged for it even tho wait and friends keen to go.
So nice to see our favourite restaurant opened again. Our meal was lovely as usual, especially the banoffe eton mess. The staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful, looking forward to our next visit. The menu has also got a fantastic choice of Gluten free meals which is great for me being Coeliac
This place is a hidden gem in Ayr town centre, had the most enjoyable three course lunch, the food was delicious and presentation second to none, thought we were in a five star restaurant, service and surroundings were excellent!!!! Definitely be back here!!!!
Very impressed by the fresh decor and the spacious beer garden. Menu was good and the food was superb. Two pieces of excellence here.1. The pea and ham soup... Souperb!! 😵2. The customer service, especially Dylan.Highly recommended.
The food is marvelous, many dishes are gluten free. The staff is very professional and nice.
Wow was delighted with the menu. The kids had sausage and mash, good portion sizes, the gray was delicious and the sausages tasted amazing. I had the burger with brie and chips fantastic, then chocolate fudge cake and mint ice cream it was Lush. My grand daughter said its her new favourite place. The kids portion of fudge cake i was going to get one each but the lady said one would be enough to share and it was. Will definitely be back. Reasonable prices as well. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.
I had a fantastic meal. Couldnt find anything to complain about. I asked for a little bit of an unusual non alcoholic drink and was not a problem. Saw people with gin boards. 3 gin glasses with 3 different gins. Looked amazing. The staff were lovely. Attentive but not overly. Loved it. Will be back again
Service was really nice, Karly was really kind and friendly. Food was amazing! The monkfish was cooked perfectly and the trio of meats, oh mouth watering! And dont forget the Gin Board, 3 gins of your choice and 2 mixers for 10£!
Excellent. We had been for a family day out fairly locally and wanted to eat before heading home. There was an initial negative. When we clicked the Google listing for the directions, it took us about a 15min drive from the address (with nothing but houses in the area). Had to call to get a nearby attraction to head towards. So Id suggest the Google listing needs reviewed. On arrival we were very skeptical. The entrance looked more like a nightclub than a restaurant. But once inside, everything changed. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We were there with our 4 year old and they were very good with him.The food was excellent. We never felt like we were left waiting or being rushed. Service was perfectly timed. The only negatives would be:- There was a 2 course menu (for £12.50and an a la carte menu. But there was no crossover. So, I ordered the salmon main. This was only on the 2 course menu. But I didnt find any starter or desert on that menu appealing. There were staters and deserts on the a la carte I may have ordered, but then it wouldnt have gone with the 2 course option.I wasnt overly hungry anyway (just hot and thirsty from a long day in the sunso I didnt bother with a starter or a dessert, yet still paid full price. However, had that been the price on the a la carte I would have likely ordered it and been happy anyway. It just felt off because of how it was presented.- It also took a while after being given the bill to attract someone to actually pay.Two very small imperfections. But, in general, it was a very good experience and somewhere Id highly recommend.
Just had lunch here today cant fault it. 2 courses for £12:50. I had the melon starter which was beautifully presented, fan sliced melon with strawberries, raspberries and water melon delicious. My husband and I both had the haddock an chips, a real treat for my husband as he is a coeliac. My husband had the trio of ice-cream which was a generous helping and also nicely presented. Great restaurant if you are allergic to gluten plenty of choice. To top it all the staff were all extremely pleasant and efficient. Well definitely be back.
There Friday afternoon ......great weather....but thats all that was great about ask !!! Only popped in for a drink as seen the beer garden advertised on Facebook and it looked fab .....very cramped but at least it means you will prob get a seat ... .however the bar service was terrible ....4 bar staff...well 3 as one of them just flounced about with receipts !! Waited over 20 mins to get served just for a drink .......should have knew better but decided to try for another drink as had a good comfy seat outside ....bad decision!! Gave up and went to Smiths.......need more staff as cocktails very popular with people and obviously take time to make at the expense of your other customers !!
Food is fine if not a bit expensive, but some of the staff are quite rude. The waitress we had questioned our dietary choices and acted superior thinking she "caught" us not ordering within those guidelines. It is not her place to question what we order, if she is worried it isnt suitable (which can happenthen the time to mention that is while we are ordering, not after weve eaten said dish with a triumphant "guess you didnt need gluten free then".
Attended one of the Christmas party nights. Food was ok, starter and main course were fine if a bit dull, pudding was lovely though. Was disappointed that at half 9, cocktails were no longer available and drinks were served in plastic cups. One of the reasons our group picked ASK for our meal was the cocktails so it really put us off and changed the atmosphere from a nice restaurant to a cheap club. I wouldnt rule out going there for a meal another time but its not somewhere Id rush back to.
Great food and friendly staff - some nice touches with the decoration, too.
Great wee lunch. Food was amazing and huge portions too so I didnt manage to eat it all. Staff that we met were very polite and great service. Great place for all the family.
Went in for the first time this evening. Have to say wont be back. If I could give it a rating of zero, then Im afraid I would. Front of house was friendly and polite, no problems there. Food was ordered and that was my issue.we were sat in front of the serving hatch. I was watching the chef plate up the meals,he placed the fish on the plate with his hand then proceeded to wipe his nose then place a burger on top of a bun without washing his hands. He then proceeded to pick up another piece of fish and place it on another plate, another burger etc all without washing hands and then arranged chips on one of the fish plates with his fingers. The food then came out and I told my family not to touch the food. I asked to speak to a manager. I asked them if they had tongs In the kitchen for plating food up and was I told yes. So I asked why didnt they use them food hygiene, cross contamination etc I was informed that the chef washed his hands. Fair point but not whilst I was watching him plate up my families meals. It was a shame as the food initially looked fine. For me it was the lack of food standards and hygiene. So that is my reason for sending all the food back and leaving.
Loved the upbeat, glam but tasteful decor. Lovely ambience. Great service at the tables. Casual menu very good value and A la Carter menu is superb! Also the drinks are reasonably priced. I love the outdoor covered area with huge screen for sports. Caters for absolutely everyone.
My girlfriend and I came here for lunch and got a starter and main. The chicken tempura was lovely, nice side salad and the sweet chilli dip was perfect. I had the burger which was excellent as was the macaroni. Service was quick and polite so I would thoroughly recommend 😁 We are definitely going back!!
The staff were very friendly, the food waas just amazing and very quick but it drink service was very slow.
Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Quick service. A+. Good choice of food. Would recommend anyone to try. Great atmosphere.
Great lunch menu, 2 courses for £10. Good selection and friendly staff.
