Art Café in Tromso
Description
Privilege
Beautiful cafe with a variety of options (gluten free, vegetarian, etc). The vibe was warm, homey, and boasted a delicious scent. The walls are full of interesting art, sculptures, and other Knick knacks. The house white wine was beautiful (a French Chardonnay at the timeand the beer was also nice.We had the broccoli soup and goulash, both warm and flavorful. Perfect for a cold day in tromso!
MoreWe arrived in Tromsø in the evening and we looked around for a place where to have dinner. We found this cute little restaurant and we decided to try. The personal inside was extremely professional and friendly they welcomed us with the best kindness ever.We ask for advices and we tried the house speciality. The food was amazing really tasty, the staff is super friendly and kind, they made our first night in Norway really special.I highly recommend.
MoreThe food was very good, and it was nice and quiet.
Tried the reindeer stew. Very filling and tasty. Very intimate, pleasant ambiance.
MoreThe reindeer was lovely and the staff were incredibly hospitable.
Best fish soup in Tromso. Spaghetti with chili and chicken salad and king crab bisque are really good. We had to come back in the next day to eat the same ordered. Best & friendly service. Worth value of money.
MoreOn vacation until 23 September, but was not reported in Google Maps
The food is great, we didnt enjoy the jazzy piano music though :-)
Our party of 7 were very happy with the food and service. Reindeer sauteed, excellent ham & blue cheese salad, reasonably priced wines all in a cozy atmosphere.
MoreI had the Spaghetti olio aglio peperoncino and the tomato n basil soup. So very tasty. If u r going to Tromso don’t miss this place. The vibe is so good in this place. Everything about this cafe is beautiful artistic n homey. Loved it.
MoreHad a lovely lunch break at this nice place. The food is freshly homemade. We went for the omelette with salmon, very delicious! The carrot cake was very tasty as well. The waitress is friendly and does her job pretty well. Thank you :)
MoreProbably the best restaurant in Tromsø, no wonder its no. 1 on TripAdvisor.A small family business, a coquette intimate place, carefully put together. Delicious homemade food with fresh ingredients, as their official purpose states on the menu.Very kind and attentive staff, super efficient and fast service.Tried the gourmet risotto (the only place I found in Tromsø that serves risotto!), and the goulash. We got some delicious homemade bread and homemade butter too. Vegetarian friendly!Too bad theres no terrace, could improvise a small coquette one in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk, Italian style, during sunny summer days.
MoreNice place with wonderful staff. Good food and great atmosphere too.
This was the cutest spot and had excellent food! I had the seafood soup and my friend had the mushroom pasta. Both were delicious and fresh and full of flavor. They had an excellent house wine that was organic. The bread and butter were tasty. The interior is eclectic with lots of art pieces and a cozy feel. Service was friendly and helpful.
MoreThe restaurant is well decorated and the staff is friendly and nice. The foods are delicious. I would definitely come back whenever I visit Tromsø again.
MoreMaybe a 3-star is not totally fair. Some of the dishes were very nice and some were average. The service is great and the staff is super welcoming. The house wine was super delicious and good amount. The restaurant is quite and very small and we booked the table in advance. The reindeer stew was nice and our favourite dish. The eggs Benedict were so so. We didn’t like the sauce that much, and in my opinion, was worse than others I have tried before. The salmon was good and fair amount! The bread was also okay but the salad was a bit sad. A lot of leaves and no sauce or oil/vinagre so it felt a bit too dry. Maybe it was the selection of dishes. I would give it another try, since the experience was quite pleasant in general.
MoreDelicious desserts especially carrot cake, chocolate cake to sweet but still good. The venue with good art/jazz vibe - worth to visit!
MoreWe were lucky enough to find this delightful restaurant. We had wonderful gin and tonics, perfect prawns in garlic, braised reindeer and lamb stew. A great evening in a lovely place.
MoreFirst, make a reservation. We tried to walk in twice and were turned away despite the apparent availability of tables. I think they only do reservations.Lovely place. We had the king crab soup - good, extremely rich and creamy. Then the special lamb dish - excellent. And finally the cheesecake, also excellent. Freshly squeezed OJ was very fresh. Also friendly, homey service from a woman in a sweat suit, and art on the walls - which other customers were actually buying.
MoreIts an wonderful dine in experience at Art Cafe.We enjoyed each and every dish we ordered. We must say the decorations and the alignment of the services are outstanding.Must try items:GoulashSalted reindeer
MoreAmazing food. Recommend you book if you definitely want to go. We were very lucky to get a table.
MoreA lovely lunch stop in the city centre. The broccoli 🥦 soup was brilliant and the atmosphere was good even before other diners arrived. Brunch (breakfasty options with eggsserved until 3pm. The art on the walls is a tempting purchase and the food and drinks make it a worthwhile stop. If you get a chance on your trip to Tromsø its a lovely lunch.
MoreExcellent food and lovely atmosphere! Would recommend. We enjoy a nice dinner with some traditional Norwegian Fårikål and a fantastic arctic trout.
MoreVery cozy small restaurant decorated with paintings by contemporary artists. The king crab soup and the reindeer saute are excellent. Reservation required. Not to be missed
MoreAmazing food and a very welcoming and cozy place. We got reindeer and beef. Both were very tasty. A must visit for homemade food while in Tromso. Portions are generous as well!
MoreProbably one of the best restaurants in Tromsø. Excellent food, hefty portions, great presentation and very reasonable prices. Fantastic service. Recommend reserving a place beforehand as they can only seat around 20 people max at a time. We were lucky and turned up at 1.20pm asking for a table for 4 just before it got full and customers were turned away for a 30min wait. Pictures show the salmon/avocado salad, spaghetti olio, eggs benedict, cheesecake, chocolate cake and carrot cake.
MoreMy family (two adults and two kids 9 and 4went to this restaurant on our first evening visiting Tromso from Stavanger. The setting is great, it has a very relaxed and sophisticated feeling. And the food was very good, I took the sautéed reindeer and it was delicious. While the place is not exactly targeting families, the staff was very friendly and nice to our kids.
MoreDelicious Hungarian Gulyás soup, great salat varieties and other tasty meals. Also, the cakes are amazing: Their cheesecake really tops every other cake in Tromsø. If you want a brunch their eggs Benedict really makes for a great breakfast. Additionally the atmosphere cozy and the staff is really friendly. Definitely one of my favorites in Tromsø.
MoreDelicious home made food. Beverages like the hot chocolate is amazing and the desserts are first class. Is our fav cafe in town. The service is something you rarely find here in Tromsø, first class!
MoreNice little gem in Tromsø. Went for lunch. Small restaurant, but nicely decorated with local artists and a fun present of the food+drink. Very friendly staff and great tasting food.
MoreStopped in on the off chance that we could squeeze in, which we did, just! A mid afternoon stop so went for the cake rather than a full meal, although others were eating at that time.A very nice little cafe, food and service good, will return if were back in Tromso!
MorePhenomenal breakfast. Get there early because its small and will fill up quickly. Highly recommended for excellent quality ingredients and attentive service.
MoreElegant Café with artistic minds anywhere, such as foods, furniture and decorations. Very good and worthy for recommending to taste their artistic decor environment here.
MoreAmazing food and atmosphere, we had the crab bisque and reindeer stew. So many great flavors and textures. Delicious! veldig bra!
MoreI normally don’t write reviews but we both loved this cute little place. They serve water with any purchased drink and even blueberry juice came in such a nice way. The food was amazing and so was the service. Quite reasonable prices too! Would definitely recommend!:)
MoreBest food weve had in the last 3 weeks traveling around Norway. Great service and atmosphere. Small place with only a handful of tables, but apparently you can make reservations. Prices are fairly cheap for such a good meal here. Definitely go if you get the chance.
MoreLovely place! Food is very good and reasonably priced, staff was kind. Decor is pretty too, make sure to stop there it’s really worth it!
MoreProbably the best food in Tromso! The Greek salad is the best that I have eaten outside Greece! Amazing Cheesecake too!
MoreVery good food, possibly the best meal I have had in Tromso. The food was decent portion and reasonable prices. The fish soup is very nice, full of fish a.d mussels. The service was friendly.
MoreWe had a great bisgue with king crab meat and reindeer stew. Both dishes were delicious. Without any exceptions. Bread was excellent. The butter was ordinary, slightly salted and with herbs. All dishes arrived very quickly and were hot. The bottled beer from the local brewery (as we were toldwas great! The service is friendly and efficient. Even the tap water was with fruits and herbs! What a lovely place! Recommended!
MoreI had an excellent fish soup with salmon, cod and mussels. Served with homemade bread. This is a family run restaurant, so do not expect a large menu. Also very cosy and relaxing with jazz music in the background. Friendly service!
MoreVery comfortable and artsy place just perfect for any afternoon. However, the quality of food and drink are not as impressive as the interior design of the cafe. We ordered a piece of carrot cake and it was too sweet. I’m not used to the spice they used in the carrot cake which taste quite different from the ones in London. Irish coffee was another joke. I felt like I was drinking a whiskey shot with a hint of coffee. Do not let the presentation fools you as the quality of food is quite disappointing. On top of that, the staff do not seemed to be welcoming. They can hardly answer you question, or only give you boring answers. As I was wondering what the cakes were, the lady simply said “Black Forest cake, carrot cake, tiramisu, etc.” If you think you are a unique cafe, at least you should promote your food a little bit more with interest. They don’t seemed to care at all.
MoreReally loved this cafe! ❤️ The food was delicious (but not so much of the blue cheese saladand the atmosphere was great too! I ordered warm water which came with a slice of lemon together with another cup of cool water with orange.
MoreSimply Incredible! Don’t let the name fool you, tbis is place is much more than a cafe! The place is small and cozy and the food is a “home-made” feel to it. We had the King crab bisque, shrimp sandwich, and their lamb specialty. All three dishes were incredible! So delicious! You can tell the owners really care about this place! Can’t recommend it enough! Will definitely be back!!
MoreTried their local seasonal dish "Lamb with cabbage and baked potatoes." It was so great, soft, juicy, and tasty. Afterwards, got their strong awesome Vietnamese coffee the same way I had in Vietnam 🇳🇴🇻🇳. Highly suggesting it.
MoreSuch a lovely little café! Very artsy and utterly cosy.I especially liked the presentation. Getting a complimentary glass of water with a slice of orange along with the coffee was a really nice touch. The staff was really lovely and friendly!I can see why this place has nothing but 4- and 5 stars. Well be coming back for sure :)
MoreGreat desserts and coffee, the coffee beans used are good quality, producing smooth espresso. Friendly staff good with Norwegian and English.Relatively fast service and comfy sofas.Definitely coming back here.
MoreThe best meal we had during the visiting of Tromsø! Fair price, very delicious food and welcoming staff, just want to come back again and try everything on the menu!
MoreOne of the best in town! Everything is freshly homemade, including their amazing bread! The fish soup is definitely a must try. Plus, as its name suggests, you will see plenty of arts inside, and you could even make purchases!
MoreQuirky little hipster cafe in Tromso opened till quite late in the evening which is also a contemporary art gallery. Decent coffee, great ambience and good service. Dining options look quite decent as well. 3.5 stars out of 5.
