Simple, compact Mexican spot with murals offering enchiladas, tacos & other everyday fare.
The asada nachos were great but the cheesecake chimichanga was amazing
Best damn Mexican food Ive had in years!! And Im old!!!!
A charming, low priced restaurant with the greatest burritos. Ive only been through the drive thru, but everyone who runs the window always makes me feel welcome. I have gotten the chimi cheesecake the past two times I visited. A deep fried tortilla filled with cheesecake, drizzled with chocolate syrup, sugar lightly sprinkled on top, and the sweetest strawberries on the side. Its crispy, sweet, and delightful. The burritos are top notch. My favorite is the Texas Burrito - steak, potatoes, pico de Gallo, and cheese. The drive thru is never backed up. People really should be going here more often. Its fantastic!
I like the food and drive thru option. The Exterior smells bad, especially in the drive-thru. I think it needs a good pressure washing with bleach.
Great food. Excellent buffet.
Always love this place! Great food
Food is always so amazing! We love their street tacos! Great service! Love coming here!
Food was good and we had left overs to take with us. For sure on my list to revisit.
Small portions, food cold, dining room dirty, and young man working was a smart mouth.
Love the people there very nice and kind and very attentive to your needs of what you want to eat
Its OK is about the best I can say. Soft drinks are the cheapest Ive seen in 40 years.
Food was average at best. Asked for extra cheese and didnt get it. Chips and salsa was served off a hot bar. Cleanliness was much to be desired. Price was average.
For not being a fancy eat in armandos has the great service as well as food.
Best authentic Mexican food around. Yummmy Try the street tacos. Buffet is delicious
Fantastic Food! Generous servings and great price! Amazing staff and awesome quiet atmosphere. Supper fast as well. We are forever customers now!
Best Food we’ve had yet. Chips and salsa- spot on! Street tacos- perfect with just cilantro and onions; shrimp cocktail best I’ve had. Love this place!
This is my 2nd time Ive gone there n the restaurant is dirty n dirty tables I guess they dont know how to clean tables n for an enchilada plate of 2 enchiladas the prize is ridiculous.
The food at this restaurant has always been amazing and the staff has always been friendly. I got the Carne asada street tacos and the tostadas plate this time and still very impressive flavors. I will always recommend this place to friends and family.
Food was average (a little blandand the inside needs some updates and cleaning. The trash receptacle door wouldnt stay shut and there was food running down the inside of it.
Solid little spot. Great food and prices. The supreme burrito with lettuce was pretty dank
Went to Armandos and I ordered Chile Relleno and 1 crispy tacoIt came with rice n beans. It was sooooo good 😋. This was my first time ordering food from there. I highly recommend.
Stopped in while passing through on a Sunday. They had menudo and pozole on the buffet. Both were excellent!
Absolute TRASH service. We as an entire shift, about 20+ people have made the mistake of giving you people chance after chance. The employees we work with do absolutely amazing work, and dont deserve to have half orders missing EVERY time weve ordered. Furthermore, most the ones who did receive all their food, the food was wrong!!!!! Now lets talk about the person taking the orders. Absolutely rude, definitely incompetent, and all the way around unprofessional. This place is a farce, stay clear of it. Youd do better ordering Little Caesars cheap pizzas for your employees than trusting these lazy people
My sister and I had lunch here, the street tacos I had were wonderful the chalupas she had not so good. It was a place you order when you come in and they bring your food to the table. I did hear that the manudo there was excellent but I myself dont much care for it. So God Bless.
Food was average. They got our order wrong. Then they forgot to bring out the plate that they got wrong. Waitress was annoyed every time we asked her for something. Never going back
So far Ive been twice. Once through the drive-thru and once to dine in. Both times the staff was very pleasant. However when we dined in the cleanliness of the restaurant was awful. The floors looked as if they havent been cleaned in forever. The ceiling fans were so gunked with dust I was afraid to sit under the ones that were turned on. The ones that were not on had dust and cobwebs hanging from them. The tables and chairs could have used another cleaning. The walls and windows were also filthy. I do hope they give that place a good cleaning. We decided to try it out based off all the great reviews it had. I dont think Ill be back.
I ask for ground beef and received this. I called 3 times before getting an answer regarding my order being wrong, then put on hold and no one every came back on the phone! Called 47 times after and now no one will answer! I will be going up there in the morning!
Loved this this placed 6 stars! Until i went through the drive thru ordered a large shrimp cocktail. I live 1 block over. When i get out i grab the paper bag turn to go inside and boom cocktail cup came out the bottom all over place. I called they said come bk . i did. Then once they gave it to me they said 13.75., KEEP IT. Next time put it n a paper bag inside of a plastic. It was too much weight for the little paper bag. I would of paid half but dang 29$ . . and i tip. . south 1st location must be ran by the better sense family members. They always go above n beyond to make sure everyone is happy coming through even if it after closing time. Grab a pen and take notes from them
This was mine and my husbands first time trying this restaurant and it was amazing. The food came fast and the staff was friendly. My husband had the chicken chimichanga and I had the shrimp cocktail and quesedilla, and 3 coca colas all for $35 . The cocktail was delicious. They also give free chips and salsa. We will be returning whenever we are in town.
Perfect balance of flavor for a shrimp cocktail. Not too spicy at all.
We went through the drive through. Friendly service. I had the nachos and the order was HUGE! Definitely enough to share which was great, and I did share... lol. My husband enjoyed the quesadillas.
Im a traveling caregiver, and the jobs I am sent on typically last 1-3 months. Thats not a lot of time to get to know a city very well. Im a native Texan, so good Mexican food is very important to me. I wanted to find a place with great bistek tacos in Abilene while I am here, and this is it. I get their 5 taco plate with green sauce, and it is a truly satisfying carnal experience, from first to last. Ive also tried their cheese enchiladas, and they are full of happiness and magic as well. Customer service was great. Until now, I have only gone through the drive thru for my food, but in future, I will go inside. I just now saw the pictures of the inside that are posted on google, and it appears to have the kind of ambience I have come to love. Great job Armandos!
Good food but theres just one young chick who doesnt seem to have any lights on who has been working the drive thru. Like you ask her a simple question and she just stares at you with glossy eyes... im not sure why but she cant seem to give you your drinks either. Like is she okay? The young dude who works the drive thru is GREAT but this chick makes us not care to bother with this restaurant. 🙄And they clearly forgot how to prepare the tres leches cake...
I have been going to this place since it has opened some years ago. Not once have they gotten my order wrong. It has always been hot and delicious. They are priced very well for big portions. Always very polite and never rude. The restaurant itself is clean and has a good vibe. Would definitely recommend!
The wait for the food was incredibly ridiculous. 4 cars drove off while we had to wait that long amount of time. When we got our food, it was great. The taste so good, but half the food was wrong, we said no tomatoes, put extra tomatoes. We asked for chicken and get beef.
I was very reluctant to even try another place with Mexican food after our first attempt back in Texas but Armando definitely delivered. The street tacos were really good and there portions actually left me full instead of some places I’ve been that you needed to order 2 meals practically to fill up. Thanks for great dinner
Armando’s is an authentic Mexican place in Abilene with great food and cheap prices. The five street tacos was about 7 bucks. I also got a churro and horchata and am so glad I stopped here on my way home. Go here!
I love their tacos. But they had run out of rice when I went. They substituted fries but fries dont go well with tacos and beans. The tacos were great through. But disappointed about them running out of rice. Next time Ill call to see if they have rice or not.
Phenomenal food! Have you tried their asada fries?! Absolutely amazing. Their lemonada is tasty and their thres Leche cake with strawberries is pure heaven! Weve been going here for almost a year and never once have we received anything bad/nasty.
Always great food and service. Went there on a Sunday and they close at 3pm and they still waited on us even though we ended up with the wrong food on one of our orders it was still the fact they didnt turn us away and that was the only time that happened to us.
Armandos food is really good, there street tacos were very tasty!! I got the Carne Asada and the Carnitas tacos, Asada was good but the Carnitas were way better!! I also got the Stuffed Supreme burrito, it was great!! Meat, cheese, rice, sour cream 🤤🤤🤤. What else can you ask for!!! Id definitely go again, you get a lotta bang for your buck, delicious!! On my thing is they need to upkeep the restaurant a little better! But its definitely worth trying!! 😋😋😁
Best Street Tacos and Corn in town. We have ordered three times and each street taco flavor is amazing. Picture shows three different orders of street taco - so you definitely get plenty!
This place has really good food. And it does not take long to get served. If you are not looking for a fancy place to dine, just some good food, try it. It is the place that used to be the old Taco Bueno and they have not changed much inside, but you can sit down (before Corvid19and have a good meal. They are very friendly and offer good service.
Buffet was very disappointing. No tacos. No shredded cheese. Very small selection to choose from. Almost $40 for 2 people. Should have been much better. Casa Herrera would have been cheaper, but we were looking for better quality. Didn’t find it here. 👎🏻
Weve visited Armandos twice now and both times have been great. First time, we were there for dinner and had the street tacos. The food was great, the young lady who works up front and takes the orders is very friendly and helpful. Overall, great experience. This second visit, we tried the Sunday buffet and couldnt be happier with it. The food is awesome. They have delicious menudo, a great selection of seasoned meats and sauce. The rice is very good and the refried beans were very tasty. Definitely recommend the buffet to anyone looking to enjoy a variety of delicious, authentic Mexican food.
We were looking for a good hole in the wall restaurant that had good home made tex-mex, that was near the hockey rink. Google gave us Armando’s. The interior looked great and the food looked good when flipping through the Google Maps pictures. When we got there I found out it was order at the register and DIY chips and salsa. With 3 kids, that turned into a pain in the rear to get everyone settled. After reading their painfully difficult to read menu along the back wall, we finally ordered. With the drinks and everything, the total was $50. It had felt more like a taco truck than a restaurant up to this point, but I figured if the food was good, then it would be worth it.I ordered steak tacos, and was disappointed at the dryness of the meat, and the low quality of the veggies. The kids favorite part of the meal was the rice and beans, as the hamburger had tomatoes on the burger and my son suddenly lost his appetite, and the salsa was too spicy for the toddler, who didn’t like his cheese quesadilla either (strangely enough).Best thing we got were the chicken street tacos for my wife. Those were amazing. They ran out of sweet tea when we were getting our drinks and never refilled it before we left. They do not bus their tables, so we had to place everything in the trash cans and clean up the table, which is no small feet with a toddler and 2 older kids running around the restaurant wanting ice cream. It was an underwhelming experience I feel as though i overpaid for. It’s like a Taco truck pulled up to the remnants of a once popular Mexican restaurant. I could have gotten better food for the money elsewhere and had my table cleaned for me even.Would not recommend unless you want chicken street tacos and are literally next to the restaurant stuck behind a train.
I got a carne asada burrito and an order of street tacos. They tasted so good that I went back again the next day! The burrito was juicy and well cooked. Good size too, definitely worth it. This was my first time having street tacos and they were amazing! You get 5 in an order, which is great. Im not a fan of corn tortillas, but Id definitely eat these any day. Also, a squeeze of lime is just *chef kiss*The service was fast and the last working the register was accommodating and very nice.I highly recommend this place for great food. They also have a salsa bar~
Great Street tacos at Armandos! Always free chips and salsa.
A hidden gem in Abilene. While Armandos has been here for a little while this was our first visit. WOW! Generous portions and everything tasted great. This is not a fancy high end restaurant but rather a good, clean and comfortable restaurant to enjoy great Mexican food and time with friends and family. I had the 5 street tacos and my wife had the #4 which was a tostada and an enchilada. Great lunch and I am looking forward to my next visit.
Went there one night after seeing a picture of their street tacos online. I really wanted to partake so I took a short drive to Armandos Mexican Resturant. Upon Arrival I was greeted at the door and walked to counter to order. The menu had pictures of the items and it was very economically priced for the people who have to ball on a budget. I got the chicken street tacos and they were awesome. I will be going back pretty soon.
