Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant & Bar in Glasgow
Description
Privilege
A really nice place to go to for some decent dinner yet at affordable prices. The food was cooked in a nicely, strongly recommend the lamb shank and the risotto. The steak... well.... prefer to cook at home.Great atmosphere and friendly staff!
MoreAmazing, local food — loved the haggis, neeps and tatties in particular! Note that the market tasting menu isn’t available after 6PM — this wasn’t very well advertised on the website.
MoreWe were passing by for the day in Glasgow.Decided to book at Ardnamurchan for dinner after recommendation. Was not disappointed, extremely friendly staff, which accomodated us with our dog in a cosy and comfortable corner.Food was delicious, with a great mix of modern but also Scottish dishes (which is not easy to find!at very affordable prices.Would definitely come back for the food, the atmosphere and the staff.
MoreGreat Scottish food in a beautiful, warm setting paying homage to Scotch whisky. The menu focuses on game and seafood. We went as a party of 6 and the staff were brilliant. Highly recommend.
MoreDelicious venison and the fish stews, as well as the Sticky toffee pudding dessert.
MoreHad a lovely time at Ardnamurchan recently. Delicious Cullen Skink. The dog was made welcome & enjoyed the chilled atmosphere!
MoreA busy restaurant for good reason. Comfortable tables with breathing room and tasteful ambience. Menu has wide variety without being overwhelming. My steak was cooked perfectly and being dry-aged, extremely tender.
MoreWow! This restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way! It has a beautifully styled interior providing a relaxed and unpretentious dining experience. The food was fantastic, equalled by the service, particularly from the gentleman who was front of house.Would absolutely recommend & cant wait to return when were back in Glasgow, especially as we were too full to try the desserts!Book in advance to avoid disappointment!
MoreOutstanding traditional and contemporary Scottish food. Locally sourced ingredients, prepared and beautifully presented. A great place.
MoreGreat place to experience delicioua local food presented in a very elegant way
We were looking for traditional Scottish food restaurant and found Ardnamurchan in Glasgow. And it was terrific!Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and took time to explain the menu. The Cullen Skink soup was the best Ive ever eaten and the venison stew was full of meat and vegetables ( I couldnt finish the portion which was large! The waitress put it in a take away container for me. My husband had a huge portion of mussels which were excellent.Great value for money.Definitely recommend a visit to this great restaurant.
MoreGreat vegan options. Vegan Salmon tartar is amazing 🤩But also haggis and venison were decent 👌
MoreExcellent all round.Early evening Market menu was a good price with plenty of choice.Food was delicious, something my family of 4 all agreed about.Service was also excellent even as the evening got busier, no dedicated waiter but that didnt bother us as they were all extremely pleasant and helpful.Atmosphere was perfect with comfortable seating and good lighting.Could potentially have a wider range of vegetarian options. Maybe a hearty vegetable stew rather than a virtuous risotto.Overall a brilliant experience and would definitely come again if we were in the area.
MoreAbsolutely fantastic! Soon as you come in you are made to feel welcome then the food is top tier! Finished off with a whisky from their great selection. Cant wait to come back with the rest of the family.
MoreThe food was not very remarkable. The soup was not good, the venison was pretty dry, and the service was not attentive.
MoreSecond time here and we love it. Popped in for some late lunch with our baby. Staff were so accommodating and made sure we were sat comfortably for breast feeding the baby and close to the bathroom with the baby changing. The food is very tasty and the set menu is very reasonable. We also really enjoy the mocktails.Would highly recommend.
MoreLovely food and very reasonably priced and generally portioned. We were very surprised. They have a good selection of wines and cocktails. They have an al a carte menu and a market menu. We ate from the market menu. Service was slightly slow towards the end but they were very very busy. The staff were lovely. I was in awe at how many members of staff there were and none of them were without something to do or rushing around the restaurant as you typically see in other places. What also stood out is how much they care that you enjoy your meal.I have to add, our booking for at 5.30pm and we turned up early because of the rain on the off chance that they wouldnt mind seating us early. Im fully aware that it applies pressure on the restaurant, but the gentleman at the front of house, was very accommodating and very chatty while we were waiting. We will certainly be back very soon! If anyone from the restaurant reads this, thank you for an outstanding evening.
MoreFish stew should have a fresh homemade base, not convinced this was the case! Otherwise tasty. Have had ok meals and delicious meals here. Good enough to keep coming back. Lovely, helpful staff.
MoreWe had a booking for 20:45 but our table was not ready. We didn’t mind waiting, as we were also waiting for two people in our party.Ten minutes in, still no table, we were rushed to call the two people we were waiting for because the kitchen was closing, so the waiter asked us to place their order before they arrived. We called them to get their food order but no one from the restaurant ever showed up to take the order. These two people arrived and the waiter was still not in sight. It took them over 45 minutes to give us the table we had booked days in advance. They took our order even before we got the table and they served us the drinks (Coke canswithout a glass? The food was delicious, so we decided not to complain. But we placed an order for two more drinks and we had to ask for them three different times to finally get them served when we were almost done with dinner.Even worse, when we asked for the bill we had to wait over 10 minutes just to pay.Good food but terrible service.
MoreAn excellent spot for a special dinner or a quiet, elegant bite. The interior design is both classic and whimsical. Polished service and a menu of modern Scottish food.I had the whipped goat cheese starter and the venison stew, along with a cocktail and Angus the Bull Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything was delicious. The next time I am in Glasgow, this restaurant will be on my must-visit list.
MoreA fantastic Scottish restaurant and perfectly located next to the Theatre Royal across the road if you want a nice upscale place to go for a pre theatre dinner. Food is excellent quality and their market menu is a very good deal and value for money if you’re trying to watch your pennies. Highly recommend the market seafood stew if you like fish, and the langoustines are also a great sharing starter. Servers are wonderful and have always been very attentive and welcoming (and something with a lot of banter!).
MoreFriendly staff with nice food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the vegan haggis! 🤤
MoreThe mussels and skink were devine as was the sirloin and the venison. We ordered the haggis as well but it was not my thing. My husband enjoyed it as his first foray into the haggis world. Strongly recommend this restaurant
MoreARDNAMURCHAN was my favourite Scottish restaurant until last night. A waitress accidentally spilled the red wine on the half of the table and he left us with it! I was embarrassed because one of my friends came from Greece to celebrate her 55 birthday in Scotland and she was seating directly to the big, red mark! I was 6 times in Greece and their customer services were always excellent. I was disappointed that the waitress didnt change dirty tablecloth or offer different table for us. We were waiting for our starters so he had time to do it.Anyway... The food was tasty and served nicely.
MoreReally great Scottish at a reasonable price! Get reservations. Proper restaurant with a friendly and fun atmosphere. Really great staff that is attentive.First time Scotland, blood sausage appetizer was tasty with creamy dipping sauce. Haggas meal done right. Is super tasty (and very rich). A lot like meatloaf. And Venison (deerstew was smashing! So good I wanted to lick the bowl afterwards! It is spicy and has a lot in common with an American Chili recipe I make (Chili powder, oregano, cumin, tomatoes stewed, peppers and such. Just excellent, and highly recommend. We are only here a couple days but will try to be back. They fill up fast here so try to reserve table first.
MoreA phenomenal experience from start to finish. The staff were exceptional and our server Neil made sure that we were looked after. The food was exquisite but we did have a bit of a wait between main and desert, but when we looked around we noticed that the restaurant was busy and the staff never stopped. We will definitely be back.
MoreWell! Just had the best dining experience in my life! Our group had traveled from across the UK for a conference and this was my chance to showcase Scottish food (I only had to travel from Fife- and boy, did Ardnamurchan do this. Every mouthful of every course was perfection, even for the most discerning of us. Booking (& amendingwas so simple, prices very reasonable & service exceptional. We all said well be back as soon as we can. An absolute gem of a place.
MoreSecond time in this restaurant and it still amazed me from the moment you walk in you can feel the lovely ambiance. Nice music very kind and polite people and great food. A must is the Cullen skink and the haggis with neeps and tatties! Five stars wel earned! Definitely will come here a third time and I think even more!
MoreAbsolutely fantastic food and service. Cannot recommend this place enough! A perfect place for a date night, with locally sourced and beautifully cooked food (we ate far too much but could not resist). Reasonably priced and a great vibe.
MoreScallops, battered haddock and cheese board. All local ingredients, they say, served professionally with a smile. If in Glasgow, this place is a must.
MoreStopped in for dinner hoping for a seat. Lucky got a high top, which we prefer anyway. Had some delicious soup, and delicious venison dishes. Venison stew and venison pave.
MoreVery good.Haggis, neeps and tatties for starter. Perfect sized dish, very tasty. For main course I had the rib eye steak which was great. I was too full for dessert but Im sure they are great too. Staff were very polite and everything was speedy. As Arny would say, "Ill be back".
MoreVery pleasant place to visit for delicious food, serving some tasteful local recipes. The meal was excellent, the drinks very pleasant too and the staff lovely. The selection of whiskeys was very well appreciated!Bathrooms were a bit hard to find. There seems to only be a disabled one, which was of course completely fine.
MoreGood place ! Food is good, staff is nice.Could get 5 stars if they could have advices us better about whiskey.A shame when you are doing tourism and trying to find advice a Scottish restaurant full of beautiful whiskey .
MoreOccasionally came here for dinner with friends and the desserts were unexpectedly particularly good.
MoreGreat food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Chose a vegan main course and it was delicious, from a very non-vegan.
MoreWe came to this place for lunch and left extremely satisfied. The interior is tastefully decorated, felt very cozy and warm. We ordered the 3-course market menu and it was a lot for both of us. We had to take some of the food home. Everything was delicious and just the perfect amount of flavor. The market menu offers a great variety of dishes to try:We started with the soup and the goat cheese, then had our main plates: the chicken and the venison stew. Both were great and very filling, and it was so much food we had to take some home.Lastly, we got this amazing toffee bread pudding with a side of ice cream. It was to die for, so good and tasty. Would definitely recommend coming here for lunch. The beer selection is good and the whiskey choices were also plentiful.
MoreA great find in the city, Ardnamurchan is a Scottish restaurant tastefully decorated in an authentic, yet not overstated way. There is plenty of car parking nearby at the Hope Street multi storey. The restaurant is located right across the road from the Theatre Royal in Glasgow - do you could always make a night of it.I had to amend my booking twice, and both times this was done quickly and accurately. We were seated near to the kitchen so we could see the action live.We had a three course lunch for £20 each and it was excellent hearty Scots foods - all the favourites like local scallops, venison stew, Cullen skink or cranachan. There was no attempt to pass out over fancy food, just good honest cooking at a price that was welcome.I’m also pleased to report that the staff on this Saturday afternoon were efficient and friendly. We had four different coffees brought to us without any mistake, and all done to perfection.Allergies and intolerances were effectively dealt with. The chef made a separate special sauce to cater for a minor onion intolerance - a detail that was not missed by this reviewer. At no time were we pressurised to finish up. Nor we we badgered needlessly by staff asking if everything was to our satisfaction. Another nice touch was that we were allowed space to choose our drinks to complement the food we were ordering. The atmosphere was congenial and private. Nice and easy to talk.Recommend this restaurant - absolutely. It’s one of these places that could become a favourite.
MoreAbsolutely amazing Scottish food! Friendly and helpful staff, delicious meals, great choice of drinks. For someone who wasn’t familiar with Scottish food - the place and menu was a much needed discovery. I would certainly recommend and would love to visit again when in Glasgow.
MoreDelicious lunch at Ardnamurchan last week. Great value for money and really friendly and helpful staff. My friends steak wasnt cooked as she liked it and they didnt charge us for that. Highly recommended!
MoreWe ate at this excellent restaurant last night. The food was amazing. We chose the set menu, £30 for 2 courses and £36 for 3. We both had the Langoustines for our starter which were delicious. I had Venison with mash and roasted beetroot for mains and it was lovely, so tasty. My husband had traditional Turkey with all the trimmings which he raved about especially the gravy. Both of us shared the delicious Sticky toffee pudding. I had a mocktail and a couple of cocktails and both were so nice. The service was very good, lovely staff and the restaurant feels cosy. We liked that we werent rushed, so often these days there is a set turn round on your table but that didnt happen here.
MoreGreat showcase of Scottish cuisine. A lot of seafood dishes are on offer, with some other traditional dishes like haggis and venison stew.We took starters (£6-13and mains (£17-28and all of them were excellent.Everything from the mullet skink to the pan fried cod + lobster risotto was spectacular.Service was also top notch, it was noticed immediately that pepper had fallen in one of our parties water glasses. Also water was replaced quickly.
MoreWonderful fine Scottish dining. Exquisite food with savvy presentations. Good cocktails and whiskey. The sticky toffee pudding is wickedly good.
MoreA hidden gem! We stumbled upon this restaurant and could not have had a better experience. Everything was absolutely delicious but in particular the deconstructed haggis, cod risotto, and cranachan left lasting impressions. We can’t wait to revisit in the future. Thanks to the lovely staff and chefs for a memorable meal in Glasgow!
MoreThe best seafood Ive had in UK. The portions were appropriate, and after 3 appetizers and 1 main (yes, we needed to try as many things as we could, it was *that* worth itwe were very full and totally satisfied. The seafood was as fresh as it could have been, the scallops were meltingly-soft, and please, please do yourself a favour and try the whipped goat cheese. Will come back to Glasgow even just to eat here again.
MoreAfter reading many pleasant reviews, my family and I decided to go for dinner at Ardnamurchan to have some Scottish fare before we left for home tomorrow. We arrived at 7:15 for our reservation and was greeted by a member of staff (could have been managementand taken to our table. The restaurant was beautifully presented and the ambience was nice. The member of staff didn’t appear to be especially welcoming. We waited at least 20 minutes before the member of staff returned to take any orders. Usually we would expect this within the first 5 or 10 minutes for drinks and understandably a bit more for the food order. However, the food and drinks order was taken at the same time, which was unusual in our opinion. The drinks arrived about 10-15 minutes later and we had no issues with these. The waiting staff were very nice, friendly and professional. We received our starters relatively on time, within 25 minutes. The black pudding starter wasn’t as impressive as I was expecting, it was quite dry and lacked flavour, although it wasn’t unpleasant. We were then left for just over an hour with no communication, until we decided to ask a waiting member of staff for an update. They informed us that our order should be with us in the next few minutes and apologised. Eventually after about 1 hour 15 minutes, we received our main courses. No reason was given for the delay however staff were apologetic about this.We generally enjoyed our main meals, although we agreed that they were nothing special and the prices were slightly steep. I had the chicken breast main and it was very tasty, however nothing memorable. My sister ordered steak (mediumhowever it arrived clearly rare; I asked if they could redo this for me and they gladly complied and quickly corrected this.At this point there was a tense and stressed atmosphere at the table, as we had waited for so long that we weren’t as excited or hungry for our food as we were before. We promptly asked for the bill, despite originally planning to get dessert. The restaurant offered us a 20% discount, we appreciated that they acknowledged their faults. I don’t know if this was an off night or a regular occurrence, but the time that we waited definitely doesn’t warrant another future visit unfortunately.
MoreDelicious Scottish food! The market menu highlights some of their best dishes and is well worth the cost. Highly recommend the venison stew!
MoreVery nice restaurant with tartan decor. The waiters were friendly and the food was very nice. I could tell the food was fresh it came piping hot. The haggis neeps and tatties starter is a big portion so I had it as meal. The Cranachan was also a big portion. Everything here is worth the price.
MoreThe staff were very kind and enthusiastic, and everyones smiling faces made me feel welcomed and warm. In addition to a very nice dining environment, their food is also fabulous. I ordered steak for main course and that’s definitely top 5 steak Ive ever had in Glasgow!
MoreI have been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite a while and today finally managed to. It was absolutely worth the wait, though I wish Id been sooner because Id have been countless times since! The food is exquisite. I cannot fault any element of the three course Christmas Lunch I had - Haggis and Black Pudding Baubles, 45 day dry aged Speyside 10oz Sirloin Steak and Sticky Toffee Pudding to finish. The steak melted in my mouth as I ate it, it was divine. The service was brilliant, staff were attentive and courteous and have gone to great lengths to ensure the restaurant is safe and comfortable in line with current guidelines. It is very sad that businesses such as Ardnamurchan whom have gone to great lengths to accomodate social distancing etc are being forced to close but I look forward to going back when they are allowed to reopen. If you would like to enjoy fine Scottish cuisine in a beautiful setting I cannot recommend Ardnamurchan highly enough. A must visit for fantastic food and great service.
