Arctandria SjømatRestaurant - Restaurant in Tromso, Norway
Arctandria SjømatRestaurant in Tromso
Description
Privilege
The amount of food for 345NOK is too expensive. Almost no potatoes, had to ask for potatoes before and after serving. Fish was all right.Better value in Tromsø for sure.
MoreOutstanding seafood, wine, view
The fish was overcooked but risotto was tasty.
They probably deserve a 4, but theyre kind-of expensive and I found my dish (salt cododdly flavorless. Its a pleasant venue, the staff was helpful, but its kind-of pointed at people of limited mobility and unlimited budget. There are better options in town if you have the time, but theyll do if youre out front and want a decent meal.
MoreAmazing food and the best wait staff in town.
Mediocre Food…Awful Service!Food is nothing special, there are many better places in Tromso, fish was chewy and overly salted and the sides are just dull and boring. While this place is certainly not the best in town in terms of food quality, they are undoubtedly the leaders in terms of rudeness of the staff and poor customer service. THE RUDENESS OF THE STAFF IS JUST APPALING and something I never experienced in any other place. Being treated poorly and with disrespect will be the leitmotif of your meal: they are rude from the moment you call to book to the moment you step out of the restaurant.
MoreWorst customer experience of the holiday. Never again! The attitude of the personnel was unacceptable. While serving the last plate, the greek manager told us the kitchen was closing and no orders would have been accepted for desserts, note that other desserts were just coming out of the kitchen!!while asking why they hadn’t informed us before, they argued in a very arrogant way we were late in making the orders (not true, they are just slow in taking any orderand we were accused of being rude because we asked twice for the bread. The manager said she was happy to be rude to us and started to clean the entire restaurant before making us pay and leave. She also added ‘I’ve been F***G waiting for you taking the orders I need to go and celebrate Easter, I’m not going to keep the kitchen open for you!’I come often to tromso, people are lovely, but here you really feel they don’t want you as a customer in this restaurant.Your reply just confirms your politeness. Customer feedback should never be treated as you do
MoreWhen we walked in spontaneously and first asked a member if she had a table for us, we were told quite coldly that there was no space, although most tables were empty. We tried our luck again with the manager a few mins later, who was really nice, and gave us the opportunity for a "quick" 90 mins dinner, before the other guests, who made a reservation, would arrive.Big thanks to her.The whale steak was quite a unique culinary experience. Definitely worth a try!By the way, if you happen to read this review, could you tell us which whale type we actually enjoyed?Anyway, fellow restaurant explorers and travellers, dont miss out on this one, when in Tromso.
MoreWe had a really nice dining experience here. Cant share the few negative reviews on the service. The service we had was really good, very friendly. The food was excellent...reindeer is a must here! Was super soft and delicious sauce...and the pommes gratin yum!As dessert try the multeberry cake!
MoreVery good restaurant ! Good fish good wine and excellent service merci !
Maybe they changed chef, but food was reheated and not fresh. Whale steak was full of tendons, was hard to eat. Stockfish was chewy. I dont recommend eating there.
Moretasty norwegian food! healthy whale meat steak with elk meat soup!
Authentic restaurant with local plates.Great atmosphere and nice view. The staff was professional and polite.
MoreUnderrated. Whale steak was really tasty and hearty. Decent options for vegetarians as well, but not much
MoreVisited on the evening of December 22, 2019, before I set out to chase northern lights. Had whale steak and it was so good!
MoreIt was the worst customer experience I have had in Tromsø. The woman who ‘welcomed’ us was angry that I needed a table even though I had booked, told us we could only stay for 2 hours and mostly ignored us the whole time. She called us ‘girls’, despite addressing the tables around us politely. She kicked us out the second we finished eating (8pm). If you are considering somewhere to eat, save yourself 1500 nok and go elsewhere.
MoreAfter a long, tiring day at work, me and my old mother decide to have a restful dinner by the seaside, possibly consuming some specialty of the local cuisine.A brief Google search leads us to the Arctandria, apparently an expensive but elegant restaurant that will satisfy our wishes for tasteful food.We walk up the stairs full of hope and hunger and we wait for our turn to be seated. This is when we are approached by a short-haired demon in female form. The woman, wearing glasses and a dark Karen-esque bob, immediately glared at us with a piercing look and posed her face in a disgusted expression, perhaps the same of somebody that had smelled something disgusting. She came our way angrily strutting and at my request for a place to eat she acted like I had asked her to take a damp on my chest, rudely demanding I moved away from the counter. The waitress- if she can be annovered as one- then lead us to a table, the one with the least view in a room full of empty tables that had better view. My mother at first wandered slightly towards another table, a misstep that was immediately chastised by a harsh "HALLO". At my polite request for a better table the waitress run towards the kitchen, screaming at the top of her lungs that we had no choice but to accept her will, and we left, hungry and frustrated. We are now sitting in the far more comfortable and lovable Biffhuset, wondering how comes she has not been fired yet, considering there are plenty of other negative reviews addressed to her.As long as she works at the Arctandria I personally suggest: dont climb the stairs, instead veer left and go to Biffhuset, the staff is lovely and the food is good.
Morerude waitress, as enclosed of booking confirm, I reserved 2 persons buffet and when i went there a waitress said could not be provided us since there’re 50 peoples already booked and the fish’s not enough, she asked us to order the a la carte or not, that’s why I asking the recommendations but she’s no service mind and do not respect to customer. I’d just want some reason to said to me that this is not a fast food just because of i’s asked her about the menu name that I didn’t know. Why’s Irene who is a waitress to serve me have to say like that? I just want to know the ingredients, or some picture of her mention but she said this is not a fast food. The waitress shows no thought of service at all. No services mind. Treat us as not a customer. We are foreign customers which inquired about the details of the food, what this waitress responded to was very rude. I dont understand whats wrong with her but its make us not very impressive. And sincerely hope that the restaurant will have a warning to teach this waitress to be better manners than this. If the restaurant that gives good taste food but there is a waitress with bad etiquette , No one wants to come back and eat again for sure.
MoreIn my whole life, this is the 1st time I write a criticism review! And This is the first time I met a waitress in such a bad behavior!!!!!😡😡😡😡all over the world! The waitress, middle aged, blonde, medium length hair !!!!!Really cold and arrogant,a woman who doesn’t make you feel welcome.Sorry, My response to your rude attitude is:Maybe your mon just gave the birth of the placenta, unfortunately left you in her body. 🤗🤗🤗
MoreEnjoyed some wonderful, authentic Norwegian food. Great menu, friendly service, perfectly prepared meals. Loved it! Are here our last night in Tromsø on the recommendation of our city tour guide.
MoreWe were able to get reservations at a short notice, considering it was Christmas season.Ambiance and service was great. I ordered the whale and seal sampler for appetizer and the reindeer shank for my main course - all were delicious! My brother ordered the marinated cod (bacalauand it did not go down well. We felt it was under-cooked; unusually hard to chew. The restaurant ended up not charging us for that dish.Definitely recommend either of the two restaurants.
MoreFirst and most critical recommendation is: “Reserve a f…king spot”. Holy moly, fancy place and you must reserve a table way in advance. We’ve been lucky to find a table, right after opening, even so we had to leave at 6.30pm, which makes it a 2hrs dinner time. We never need more time, so it wasn’t stressful at all. The waiters seem a little inattentive, walking around hands in their pockets. We were able to spot a waitress which was really caring and paying a lot of attention to a couple, no clue if that’s her way of working or if they booked a special package. Anyway, we ordered a special dish which was recommended to us “Grilled Tørrfisk” and it was really good. There isn’t much more to say, it’s a fancy restaurant and like it suits for Norway it’s expensive … but there’s no surprise in that fact. Enjoy.
MoreWrong location on map.“We’re always fully booked” said the lady at the front. So our walk-in was not successful.
MoreFood was very nice. The service could be much better.
Very good
Under suggestion of our hotel we went for dinner in Arctandria. It is a very good restaurant with amazing local food. The personnel is polite, helpful and nice. The menu is in norwegian but the waiters explain all the dishes and what they contains, you just need to ask. I would give 6 stars if it would be possible. Strongly recommended to whoever visit the city.
MoreExcellent food and beer selection.
dried grill fish with becon , cmon guys where u can test same this ?
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Its has a great view to the waterfront. We had taken our children and they were friendly and accommodating towards them.
MoreNice restaurant at a beautiful location right in the middle of the city. Food was very nicely displayed but quite tasteless. Youll might find it a bit lame if youre used to more spiced food. Very expensive and not worth the money
MoreGreat place, great food, decent service.
Main course (Reindeer steakwas delicious. Local beer and aperitif (Tromsø Kirwere really good. Our waitress was extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is on the second floor and offers a spectacular water view.
MoreReally good staff, tasty food (I recommend the whale steakbut bit pricy (even for Norway)
MoreWe had a fantastic meal over here. Very nice restaurant at the port.
Id had a lovely supper, and all I said to my girlfriend was, That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah
MoreFood was good but not very warm. Espresso was not great but OK. Dessert was interesting (first milk pudding). Service was quick but not overly welcoming or friendly. Too pricy for the overall package. Hint to other tourists: Please bring a credit card and dont pay cash. This is Norway.
MoreIt was very good, but the service could have been kinder though.
Good looking restaurant with nice meals. Staff is great. They even take selfies when some customers ask!I recomend a visit!
MoreFresh fish to buy or eat there
Delicious food but slow service. The restaurant was not busy and it took over 2 hours for me to complete my meal. It was just a lack of attention to detail. Painfully slow.
Moretasty food.
Great service, staff is nice and professional. I had a whale steak and a King crab soup. Soup was delicious, you cant miss it. Seafood is fresh and tasty. I was expecting small fine dining portions but they were quite big!
MoreThe crab soup is amazing. We went back for it again. Nice pub downstairs also.
Fantastic restaurant with great traditional, local norwegian food. Really enjoyed the stay!
MoreWhen you enter the restaurant it dont seem to have such delicious food. Old-fashioned, but all the rest is perfect the food was delicious and the staff was perfect. The best whale I have ever had!!!!
MoreBest place a night out
Quite pricey, but that is the norm for Norway. I got the whale steak (picturedand my girlfriend got the reindeer, both were delicious. The service was very good as well.
MoreGood food, lots of fish, but also reindeer and whale.
Good food and good service. I had the reindeer meat, it was delicious. A little bit pricey but you have to try it if you re in norway,
MoreBest seafood in town!
