11-m. remains of a triple-bayed Roman arch built in 129 CE to honor the emperor Hadrian.
Dont miss these sites they are all unmissable
Very nice place.
Unbelievably beautiful and not to be missed.
A beautiful gate to visit. The gate has a huge arc which is well preserved and maintained. Not to many things to see at this structure itself but a lot more to come when passing it. Youre able to take nice pictures from the back/opposite side of the gate. It has a much nicer viewing angle from there.
What a way to enter Jerash ruins! Really impressive and you can walk right through it. Just past it is the hippodrome...
The Arch of Hadrian or Hadrians Gate or Arch of Triumph is the Arch of Triumph and is one of the most famous landmarks in the Jordanian city of Jerash. It is located on the southern side of the city. It is a gate with three arches, the current height of which is 11 meters. It was erected in celebration of the visit of the Roman Emperor Hadrian to the city in the winter of the year 129-130 AD.This arch is one of several triumphal arches built in honor of Emperor Hadrian. Its height was about 22 meters when it was built. It is likely that it had wooden doors. Unconventional architectural elements appear in it - most likely Nabataean - including the decoration of the bases of its columns, whose capitals were made At the bottom, not at the top, as usual
Many bad guys here try to earn money from you, They pretend to be enthusiastic, but they actually ask for tips, and the five-minute commentary requires 20-50JO!Ignore anyone who try to talks to you! They have bad intentions!

Amazing
Excellent archaeological site.... they have refreshments areas within the site.... Good place for family excursions
one of the most beautiful tourist places in Jordan
Great city, the magnificent and beautiful Archeology.
I’m usually a big fan of such historical sites, however, I had some problems here. The structure itself was absolutely gorgeous, but when entering, you are jumped by sellers trying to get you to buy low-quality stuff. Since you are constantly bothered, you can’t really enjoy the archeological site. The site was also filled with running and screaming local kids, they even climb on top of some of these ancient structures, which in my opinion is unacceptable!! In conclusion, the site itself is worth the visit. But the hassle in and around the site makes it so much less captivating. Also spotted a slight mistake: one of the signs said it was the temple of Zeus, but Hadrian was a Roman emperor. So it should be Jupiter in this case.
The entire complex is great!! Coming in the arch of Adrien is nice but has nothing exceptional but the succession of monuments, the surface of the entire site really gives a sense of how great of a builder our ancestors were! The site has little shade, you can buy water on site so you don’t need to take too much water but the deeper you get on the site, the more expansive the water gets (up to 1.5 Jordan dollars for a small bottle). This is nonetheless worth it as you’ll see great ancient cities buildings you didn’t expect to find in Jordan! Plan for 3/4 hours on site as you go from one discovery to another. The kids had a lot of fun going through the ruins as in Jordan they benefit from a lot of freedom in what they can experiment!!!!
Historical site to visit and relax.
The Arch of Hadrian is an ancient Roman structure in Jerash, Jordan. It is an 11-metre high triple-arched gateway erected to honor the visit of Roman Emperor Hadrian to the city (then called Gerasain the winter of 129–130.[1] The arch originally stood to almost 22 m and probably had wooden doors.[1] It features some unconventional, possibly Nabataean, architectural features, such as acanthus bases.[2] The columns are decorated with capitals at the bottom rather than the top. The monument served both as a commemorative arch and as an approach to Gerasa. The Archs relative remoteness from the city walls points to a plan for southward expansion of Gerasa during its heyday.[1] The expansion, however, has not been implemented.
Incredible entrance to and incredible site. This is just the beginning and it gets bigger and better as you go along. Great way to enter into an amazing historical site that keeps going on and on. Great spot for pictures. I highly recommend it.
One of many monuments attributed to Hadrian in the Mediterranean. This one is well preserved. It also serves as the southern gateway to the Jerash archeological site. Many vendors will attempt to sell you sets of postcards near the arch - the postcards seem like they are 40 years old. Also, there is a tour guide station nearby. We enjoyed the site without a guide.
Very beautiful got there late afternoon early evening was so Pretty as darkness set in
Very beautiful and amazing place...Art of Roman Empire
Lovely place and we really enjoyed our visit
Absolutely stunning monument, a landmark of the city.
Wonderful place, full of history. I liked that it wasnt crowded, although it should be... people should find out about it and about Jerash and discover its beauty.
wonderful place. many preserved buildings, roads, forums and stadiums from the Roman era
Beautiful entrance to Jerash archeological site. Awesome, that even the romans have been there 2000 years ago and left their traces
Jerash is an archeological site that one must not skip when in Jordan. And a tip the market in this site has the best prices compared to all the other markets on Jordan
An absolutely gorgeous step into history. It was hot but doable. The area is much larger than meets the eye and you can feel the Roman history in the area. There are so many pictures that should be taken here. This was one of my favorite stops in Jordan. The only con is the number of people trying to sell you things mostly towards the front.
This is one of the most amazing sites to see with your own eyes. You should definately have it on your bucket list! Super amazing!!!
Ancient place, worth the visit.
I always love visiting the old Roman town of Gerasa on our trips to Jordan, & no exception on our last visit, albeit in the heat of July!My one bug bear would be that, as a foreigner, I was pestered quite a bit by shop vendors for my custom. Understanding that times have been super tough during covid, I was more than willing to buy souvenirs from the stalls at the entrance - albeit on a limited budget - but still felt quite pressured which did spoil the atmosphere. My recommendation at this time would be to hire a guide in advance, or get a recommendation on arrival. Theres so much of historical interest thats really worth knowing about. (Dont let a "guide" attach himself to you & then request a good sum of money for the very little knowledge he has - as I mistakenly did.)
If you are in Jordan, this place is must visit.
An important place interpret the strategic position of Jordan in the ancient time..
After Petra and Wadi Rum, Jerash is another site that you don’t want to miss on your visit to Amman, Jordan. The site is quite Big and requires a couple of hours to cover. ••Information • (Entry: 8 JD)The Ruins of The Roman City of Jerash. At the extreme south of the site is the striking Hadrian’s Arch, also known as the Triumphal Arch, which was built in AD 129 in honour of the visit of Emperor Hadrian. •
A haven for people who love history and ruins 😀
Amazing Roman culture in the city of Jerash.it is amazing to see such huge area of Roman ruins in here and most of it are well preserved. You might need a guide to have more information about the place and what each area of the city represents. The historical city of Jerash is underrated and I believe it needs more advertising.
Incredible Roman ruins not to be missed!
Just when u entrance to the Jerash ruins you will go inside this. Huge structure made with very big stones cubes. Very tall. Can get nice photos. Both sides are good to get pics.Morning and evening time is best to visit jerash. This arch is really awesome work of roman people.

I totally loved it. Ancient civilization preserved over 2000 years. Amazing I would say. it is definitely a place worth visiting and experiencing.
Roman ruins at Jerash Jordan are amazing well worth the effort north of Amman!
This is a truly amazing place! Ive never seen such a big and well preserved roman site. The arch of Hadrian is the south entrance to this ancient city. It was built back in year 129/130 in honor of the roman emperor Hadrian.
Lovely Place, Historical, can spend hours visiting this ancient place
Well restored gateway to the ruins of Jerash city. It is grand and beautiful.
Wow. Massive relic from Roman times. Great for those seeking historical significance from millennia past.
Loved it. Didnt go inside. Just took pictures outside as long walk and impossible to go with a baby.
Wow...a truly spectacular historical site. Could spend all day seeing the entire city of Jaresh. A must see for any historical enthusiast. See my pics.
Good place for Roman and Greek architectural. Make sure to wear good shoes for walking.
This was erected in 129 Ad to honor Hadrian visit to Jerassa (one of the main Decapolis city.
This is the most complete and easily the most impressive Roman ruin I have ever seen. Obviously it has been reconstructed to some extent but it helps you understand the scale and complexity of classical architecture and just how perfectly proportioned every element was.
Not much to see, just so so.Be careful of the fake guide, cheat you tips
