A 15th-century fortress in typical Islamic style, overlooking sea passages, plus illuminations.
Definitely a worthwhile visit if you are nearby the Seef Mall. The person in charge did an amazing job in sharing the history of the Fort and Bahrain.
Nice place and a neat park for kids to play
Neat spot to check out
Very good touristic and local place. Love it.
One of the most beautiful landmarks and heritage sites of kingdom of bahrain
Nice place to see a part of Bahrain History. Could have better facilities and amenities. Audio Video Facilities would make it more interesting. Next to the Fort is Seef Mall Muharraq. A quality dining and shopping destination.
I went with my family, Friday, 13th May 2022, approximately 4pm, and was told by the security attendant that it was closed on Fridays, and this Arad Fort is open Saturday through Thursday. No other information was forth coming. No sign was posted. I tried to enter from the Seef Mall side, North Entrance. Sad to see Bahrain trying to get tourists to come, yet an important touristic site is closed on the weekend...
Visited during Gurgaon festival on 15th Ramadan 2022
Good weather and lively event during Ramadan. Stalls that exhibit culture like weaving, pottery, coffee, perfumes. A number of activities for children like giant dominoes, arts and crafts, and painting
It was a windy, comfortable, sunny day, the flags at the Ft were waving to and fro; birds were flying in the air. Standing inside the Ft and exploring the old nooks and crannies, then opening the gate to see DT Manama was a little adventure in time travel. Wear your walking shoes, BTW, the steps are "no joke" a fun little climb...
Very Near to the coastline in Muharraq Island, not very crowded had a good enough space for parking. Its smaller than the Bahrain Fort, this was well maintained. The view of Muharraq island from the fort was amazing.
Calm place to visit. Well maintained. The evening/night time is preferred to enjoy under the lights.
A small but old fort. Well maintained. Unfortunately no information available at the fort. No guides too.
They charge you 1.1 BD to enter an empty fort with no plaques or any form of historical information. You’ll spend less than 2 mins in there. Just take pics from the outside and you’re good to go.
Don’t bother. They charge you 1BD to enter an empty fort with no plaques or any form of historical information. You’ll spend less than 2 mins in there. Just take pics from the outside and you’re good to go
Well maintained and located at a very nice location, sunset would be the best time to visit. Its quite spacious, there is a nice view of the beach but nothing much otherwise. Entry was free and plenty of parking available outside.
Small but cute
Beautiful place,Nice place for family bonding 😉
A beautiful archeological site which is located on arad Beach, big free parking is there beside the fort, 2nd biggest mall in Bahrain al seef mall is very next to the fort, entry ticket is one BD to enjoy Fort, unfortunately we were not allowed to enter by security guards said that today is Friday, therfore check before you leave.
A mini fort with good location, preserved archeological monument.. obserbed restricted timing of 12pm - 5pm because of pandemic.. nominal fee of 500 fils charged for entry per person !!
This is very nice place to visit and its approximately 500 hundred years old.
One of the oldest and smallest forts in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A good spot for a family visit, best time would be closer to sunset as it is a beautiful sunset spot as well, over looking the sea where the city skyline can be clearly visible. The fort looks totally different at night as the fort is lit up beautifully.A must visit spot if you are in Bahrain.
Great sight! Just by the sea behind Seef Mall Muharraq. Has a nice walkway and garden.
I am not sure if this is free or not but it cost me 1BD to enter. I probably got jipped... oh wells.Nice fort. Rather small but awesome to see. In my opinion Bahrain Fort is much better but this is not so bad. Small but pretty cool fort. It’ll be worth your time Also there’s a mall RIGHT NEXT TO it, so isnt so bad after all.Good spot to take photos!
A Portuguese fort on one side of the bay. Its small and youll be done quickly. Its also in a not so nice area with car washing touts (at the parking lot, theyre waiting on bikes with their bucketsbehind a big mall. The Bahrain fort and its surrounding area are both nicer.
Very nice fort to visit, one of the smaller forts. Lots of good pictures.
Traditional structure and a nice photographic location. A frame here can capture the ancestry and beauty of modern Bahrain. Good outing location with family👨👦👧👩👴👵
the right historical place to relax and gather with family. With a wonderful calm sea side view. unfortunately theres no toilet when we came there
I would not recommended it. Its an old structure but nothing much to see . Just old fort which is really small and nothing much left. There is entry fee to see the fort which is strange as many did not pay. Also there is nothing much to see there for which they charge. I think its probably to maintain what is left and to keep it clean and nice.If you have lot of time then can visit once. But just keep in mind not to have even a litte bit of expectations. There is a nice garden area to chill and relax and enjoy with your family.
Definitely not as impressive or well kept as the Bahrain Fort, however it does have its own appeal in that it is equally as old and historic. You can get a nice view of the city as well as the sea. Good for nice weather outing.
We went in the early afternoon which I admit isnt the most ideal time to visit this place as its extremely hot. However to enter the fort you have to pay an admission fee but you dont get anything, you just see the fort. There is no guide, no written matter anywhere around so youre just left looking around a not so big fort. I do believe this place is prettier at night from the pics Ive seen, but from our experience I wouldnt recommend this fort to anyone else.
Arad Fort was built in the typical style of Islamic forts during the 15th century before the Portuguese invasion of Bahrain in ad 1622.[2] This fort has a beautiful history. A few feuds between the Islamic divisions of Bahrain have taken place here.[citation needed] This fort is one of the compact defensive forts in Bahrain. In its present location, it overlooks various sea passages of Muharraqs shallow seashores. In the past, there was an inaccessible marine channel which was controlled by the local people to prevent ships from breaking through to the island where the fort is located. The fort is square and on every corner there is a cylindrical tower. It is surrounded by a small trench which used to be filled with water from wells that were drilled especially for this purpose. In every corner of the upper wall of the fort there are nose shaped openings for marksmen.Close to the Bahrain International Airport, the fort has been extensively restored and is illuminated at night. Traditional materials have been used in the restoration and maintenance of the fort after making extensive analysis of the original materials such as sea stones, lime, sand, and palm trunks. See Walls, Archibald G., Senior Architect, Ministry of Information, State of Bahrain, Arad Fort: Its restoration, its history and defences, February 1987, Pub. Directorate of Tourism and Archaeology, Ministry of Information, State of Bahrain[citation needed] No cement or any other materials which are not in harmony with the historical building or which reduce its historical value have been used.
Really good experience. We can see old Bahrain and new Bahrain in one frame
This small fort was nice for a quick stop. It was not very touristy but very close to the Seef Mall - Muharaqq and is overlooking the sea. The fort ruins have quite steep steps and may be hard for some to walk or climb. Its interesting to see hidden history behind Bahrain. No toilets.
Wide car parking area is there. The entrance fee 1BD per person. No need for a Guide. We can finish the entire fort within 30 minutes. Not much activity is there.Ground floor and a stair view is there.Nice view of sea is there.Near by there is Seef Mall.Highly recommended for people interested to visit historical old ruins.
A beautiful ancient touristic site, with good view of the sea, nice refreshing environment. It has a nice well preserved heritage from generations before clearly displaying how sailing was 40 or years ago. Beautiful site
Nice place to visit, easy to find, spacious parking. Historical site, a good place to spend with family for an outdoor activity. My only take on it is; nobody there to offer guidance, or information when I visited this historical location in Bahrain 🇧🇭 .But while looking around, two men came in with a guide to give them the historical information behind this fort, which was to my benefit. It needs more attention from the tourism department. But over-all I recommend a visit.
I had a quick 30 min walk to this small fort. Not much activity. It has entrance fee 1BD per person. A peaceful place with few tourist. Perfect spot for Instagram. Highly recommended for people interested to visit historical old ruins.
Its very old fort around 500 Years old. BD 1.00 Charge for ticket . 30 minutes walk around only . Be careful dont take risky selfies.
Excellent piece of old architecture ..For people those who love old architecture don’t miss this place.
Nice area to visit especially it was heritage festival at that time.
One of the main historical sites of Bahrain. Located near Seef Mall in Muharraq. Though it’s small, high on historic value. Very beautiful venue and park developed around it. Perfect for strolls and picnics. Ample parking spaces. Many cultural programs and events are organized by the Bahrain Government here.
Arad Fort is one of Bahrains most important fortified castle. The fort is open for a fee.
Nice place and without any entrance tickets.
Good place to watch the sunset. Very small fort, no information available. You can just walk in. We were the only people present in the fort.
Nice place to chill by the sea, with views of the historic fort.
the one and only tourist attraction for heritage in central Bahrain
Upon arrival there is no signage. Small building with information on it. 1 BD or $2.65 US. There is no signage what so ever. Empty paint cans, junk behind closed doors. Weather taking its effect on building. No attempts to save being made.
Great historical place where you can enjoy the sea view and the ancient fort.
A nice location but the surrounding area clashes with the natural look. Dangerous elevated areas with no safety railings.
