Aquele Tasco - Portuguese restaurant in Porto, Portugal
Aquele Tasco in Porto
Description
Privilege
Great simple Portuguese tapas run by a lovely hard working family. No reservations so arrive early and hope for a table (but worth the wait if you need to).We had peppers Padron (huge portion for €4.50), grilled octopus with vegetables and an amazing veal steak with vegetables served on a sizzling iron plank. All of it was excellent. Highly recommend this cute little restaurant.
MoreCan I give it 6 stars?? I stopped by after reading reviews and being intrigued. I was not disappointed! The food was delicious, the staff was very hospitable and the whole experience was very pleasant! I would definitely recommend thus place, but keep in mind that it is small, and there can be a wait for a table.
MoreMust visit place in Porto! Friendly staff, great prices and AMAZING food. The atmosphere is super enjoyable.
MoreFantastic tapas (especially the prawnsand excellent service! We were served by the owner who was incredibly hospitable and kind. There was a complimentary tasting of port at the end of the meal. I also accidentally spilled my espresso - the mess was considered no trouble and I was given a replacement without being asked. Would recommend to all!Ps. They do mini francesinha for those who do not want to commit to a full serving 😂
MoreGreat food, quaint atmosphere. We enjoyed the octopus, mushrooms w/ garlic, grilled prawns and pasteis de nata.
MoreMeh... food is not really all that good. The prices are ok. Wine is good. Food takes way to long for the lack of taste and presentation. Not sure why 4.6 stars though I am assuming this is likely the first stop for some. I suggest you look around more before trying this place.
MoreWe ordered code fish, the dish was very salty and a bit dry.The Sirloin steak was also a bit dry.
MoreThe bacalhau e natas were so delicious! (aka Cod fish and creamy potatoesA must try if you are in Porto! The service was great too
MoreTried this place because it looked like a good place for local dishes. Had to return a few times because their hours of operation are really flexible. They don’t really seem to care about customers making the effort to eat there. The dishes are well priced but food is hit or miss. The prawns were good if skimpy. The cod fish with cream and potatoes had no cod.I think this is local place trying to snag some tourists. Too many other good places. Avoid.
MoreThe type of place where the good food/drink make people so happy they start talking to strangers across the table. Highly recommend the grilled gambas, fried chicken, cod fritters (& cod with cheese & potato according to the table beside us), & of course sangria! Loveliest unassuming waiter too.
MoreWe had a wonderful Portuguese dinner at Aquele Tasco. The owner as well as the rest of the team were very kind. Wine and food were delicious, especially the octopus was a Highlight! Prices are absolutely fair. Cozy, charming and authentic atmosphere!
Morea must if you come to Oporto. Yummy tapas, octopus and friendly team.(and good prices!)
MoreVery rude to us, presumably because we are not local. Plenty of space but would not seat us. Would not give us a later time we could be seated. Wish I could have given this place a good review based on a meal but I didn’t have the opportunity to eat at this restaurant. As I double checked the comment eight months ago from Mr Sundell, the comment is on the top. Is that racist? If not, why dont you let him go in the restaurant? I am talking a truth, everyone know what is going on. :)
MoreThey offer a booking service for local only, it is not welcome any tourist, no matter how there are a spare table without booking. The staff of restaurant should be take an improvement.Response from the owner 7 hours agoDear Wilfred, We are sorry, but you got it wrong. How could we not welcome tourists? We don’t accept reservations and people come in order of arrival. The list you saw is the one where costumers write down their names when they arrive and and tables are free we come outside and call by their names. Please don’t make assumptions.Tasco,You can find most of same comment at the past year for your restaurant. According to your quick reply, everybody have a clear picture for your response. Don’t make an excuse again. It is not a good for business. Please facing your problems.
MoreSuper authentic cozy restaurant. Great food! Great prices! Magnificent flavours! You taste the love for food. Best tip yo go there!
MoreYep be f the best local places I’ve been in! The food was amazing all the dishes were big and quickly served! The bacalhau was absolutely lovely! Highly recommend this place :)
MoreA little place giving great satisfaction. We tried different tapas which each came in generous portions. The waiter was very friendly and the prices were incredibly cheap for the quality food you get.
MoreExceptional place! I’ve traveling around and eating food around the world and this place hits the spot! Great fresh food. I had the prawns and the grilled veal - everything was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend- also amazing value
MoreCute, small place that served traditional food. They offered a mini-francesina and it was fantastic! The fries were crispy and tasty on their own (but even better in the sauce).
MoreVery cute place on the corner with fantastic food, especially for the price. Get the peppers and fire chorizo. Perfect portion sizes to split a few dishes with a small group. Also great drinks!
MoreGreat little place with a comfy vibe and excellent service. There are only 5 or so tables so it fills up fast. We got the chorizo and grilled prawns and both were fabulous. Prices were fair.
MoreVery disappointed with the food. I ordered vegetarian lasagna, which was the worst lasagna I have ever eaten. Tasteless and the béchamel was really horrible. My husband ordered the octopus which was like a rubber. The one star they get is for a nice wine and pleasant waiter.
MoreAwesome tapas, all tasted great and had a high quality. Staff was great at English. small place so reserve a table or be there around 18:00
MoreVery small, but perfect restaurant. They cook your meal fresh behind the bar. Whatever you prefere, it tastes delicious. 😋
MoreNice food and very welcome staff. Highly recommended
Very nice traditional food find within the busy touristic area, lovely staff and very tasty food freshly cooked almost in front of you! Also, very tasty porto wine on the house offered at the end!
MoreOne of the best places we ate at Porto! Good prices, food is great & service !Highly recommend !!
MoreFood is good, fresh and tasty. Good wine.But...Water from filter machine should not be charged. The place is very small.A smile and welcoming gestures could offer a much better experience
MoreFood is 5/5 and it’s quite cheap for quality and quantity you get served. Unfortunately we had to wait a really long time (40 mineven though we had reserved a table
MoreSuperb place to eat, very friendly staff, excellent food and great value.
Highly recommend this restaurant. was nice and very tasty! The service was good, as the place is small It better to make a reservation before you go. The sangria was delicious
MoreNice restaurant, good prices and nice portions. The croquettes were delicious, just not warm enough. I loved the tripe stew and the francesinha. The steak in cubes were unfortunately a bit tough, and the sauce was too watery. The service was a bit slow today, and the last dish was I think forgotten and reheated again which made it tough. We also had to pay cash because the card reader was not working. The wines were good. So I hope its better next time, cant wait to try other dishes.
MoreSuch a cute spot! Fantastic service and a wonderful menu with great food. Reasonably priced. Amazing neighborhood spot!
MoreThis restaurant deserves 5+ stars. Nice Portugese dishes, simple and super flavorful. No fuss, friendly staff, reasonable pricing. Menus in several languages, so tourist friendly. However: Only 16 seats, it is advisable to make a reservation. Service is not super fast nor super slow either, simply a small open kitchen, it feels like having dinner at someone’s home instead of a restaurant for that reason. Loved it!
MoreGood local service.Always full, nothing spectacular but not bad neither.Good service and proper quality food. I insist, nothing insane but for a 40€ /two people dinner was worth it.Wine was on a ok price and you will find some Porto classics.
MoreLittle gem with very delicious food and the prices are very good. Love the pork dish which was so flavourful. The tripe stew was also delicious. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It took an hour of wait to get my order which was a big let down.
MoreI had advice to visit this place. The restaurant is so small I could not find it with my first attempt. I was so lucky to be invited, all other tables were occupied or reserved. We ordered traditional Portuguese meal from mains part of menu. Both dishes made from cod was delicious. I did not mention excellent macchiato coffee. The check was absolutely affordable. My thanks to owner, chef and waiter served us.
MoreI knew i was at the right place, when i saw the Waiter / Owner clean the opening of a coca cola can :very nice to see such things.Food was also, really good. Will try to eat here next time i visit Porto
Morevery tasty grilled prawns! affordable prices in tiny cozy spot. friendly staff. english menu. would come back to try more dishes. their steak looks good. go early out you have to make reservation bc the place is tiny.
MoreGood price, nice service and great food! We even got complimentary porto at the end with the bill. Nice dining experience.
MoreVery small place, took three separate visits to get a table. Tasty food and very good value. Decent wine and cheap sangria.
MoreWe received this restaurant as a tip from friends. Well, they did good telling us to go here. The food is amazing, the staff is great and the prices are the best. We started with a view tapas and sangria. Both very nice. And we shared a main course: Naco de Vitello. Not only is the presentation creative, but the meat was brilliant as well. And we got some port on the house to finish. 10+
MoreCozy and great peaceful atmosphere in a contrast to busy streets next to it. Delicious mini-francesihna and fries. We also had vegetarian lasagne and green wine, and in the end porto ruby, all great and in affordable prices! Recommend and would visit again!
MoreI wish I had a second stomach for this place.Arrived at around 4pm on a Friday when no one was really around (highly recommend going during off hours!). Ordered the sangria, tripe, and cod tapas. It was definitely a bit too much for one person, but I just couldn’t resist. The cod dish was more potatoes than cod, but it was still tasty regardless. The tripe stew was 💯. Super flavorful but not too salty either. Everything seemed to be cooked on the spot. I will definitely come back to try more tapas (or just keep reordering the stew until I get tired of it, if ever).
MoreWhat a great place to try authentic Portuguese food! Nice dishes and nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend. 😃
MoreAn amazing tapas restaurant! Every single dish we ordered (not all picturedwas delicious. Also, the sangria was amazing. Lovely little restaurant and can only recommend. 🥰
MoreYes yes yes! This restaurant is wonderful in all aspects: the atmosphere feels cosy, the food is great and the staff as well! We usually go there to take their mini-francesinha which are the perfect snack while having a walk in Porto but they also propose all sort of dishes to share (tapas), and they have a selection of great wines as well. The prices are very affordable and its location is great and easy to find.
MoreVery small however with a great home atmosphere. Portuguese food at its best. You need to try codfish dishes here. Its really cheap. That makes it even greater. Tell the waiter you want to share and take few dishes. You will get it fast. A variety of wines will do the job. Look out they have 9 tables and on weekends evenening can be crowdy. Just a few steps from Bolhao Market and Portos main avenue.
MoreThis place is so unassumingly wonderful. The Portuguese tapas-like menu will have you tasting loads of super delicious dishes so you know what to get more of the next time. Which we did, time, after time again! Their selection of ports are devine!! Capacity is small and the mood calm and intimate. Reserve if you have to. Best thing of all though, is the price... Hands down the BEST prices youll find anywhere and such quality!! A must-frequent local restaurant.
MoreWe loved this restaurant! The owner and staff are very nice people and the food is great! Typical Portugese menu; a lot of meat, but some very good veggie options too. The food was fresh, prepared quickly and very very delicious
